Oof so I have a tbr for manga that is wayyy to long….. same with actual books too smh. I have BOOKSHELVES of books that I haven’t read yet. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that I find myself doing litterly anything else. I also can’t read manga online because I don’t absorb anything from it and it makes my head hurt.

Also you watched the video 🥺 (my litteral face reading that)? That means a lot, like when someone reads something you recommend and tHEN TALKS TO YOU ABOUT IT? I’m so happy yay. I feel like there are two types of people who are into psychology- those who want to know to help others and themselves and those who want power over others. Everyone starts out with a curiosity, which is good- but it starts to get bad when greed comes into play. Greed demands power and money and once your satisfaction relies more on that than anything else, then all ethics leave the building.

And when it comes to your school I get that things look different on the inside, believe me (*cough* residential and lifelong experience with mental illness lol *cough*) but I love how you found out you were queer. Like lil 12 year old pea is sitting in a class room doodling on their paper and while zoning out while the teachers talking like: “hmm heterosexuality? That ain’t it, dawg.” Of course that’s (probably) not how it went but that’s what I picture when you wrote “didn’t work well with me” lmao.

I think it’s interesting that growing up religious can make a person so numb-…distant? I’m not sure if the right word. I feel like with some, growing up with religion makes it come a core part of their identity, and with others (like you) it became something that was just always there, yknow? I admire how you took your own path with religion even if it’s not a big part in your life. Like you accept that it’s there and it will always be there as a part of your childhood but it doesn’t define you. I feel like many people have a hard part with that step since religion is often screwed into their head by their community and family, sometimes to the point where they don’t know where they are without it, yknow? The thing with religion to me is that it is so large and widespread- and easily misinterpreted. I feel like there is no ‘right way’ to interpret something religious but many people base everything on what they BELIEVE is the right way. This causes so much tension in what is supposed to be something that brings people together. This baffles me because most (well known or common ones in america at least- I don’t have a degree on anything) religions worship the same god, or the same one in different fonts, yknow? But all these religions are seperated by ideals from people who say they know best. This is what leads people into dangerous situations or learning dangerous behaviors. For example, there was no mention of homosexuality in the Bible, but one year it appeared in a reprint and people started looking at it as law, which harmed and even led to the death of many many people over the decades. Also you weren’t rambling, I enjoyed reading about your connection to your religion, everyone is different and it’s interesting to learn about what religion means to you.

That sucks that you were encouraged to date AS A CHILD bruh idc what gender you like that’s a bit weird. Like dating before 14 (high school age in America) is dumb to me because you don’t really know what dating and relationships are and I have never heard of a middle school relationships going remotely well and all you do is regret it in the future. But like when people suspect you and your friend are dating it damages platonic intimacy. Like when it comes to people I’m super close to I’m very huggy and touchy because physical touch is important to me (only if I’m close to them, otherwise ew). This kind of intimacy is important to me because it’s how I show affection in a way that I am comfortable with and for people to say that it’s “gay” (which has happened before, my one close friend who is literally like my sister was told that we look like we are dating- she deadass said “that’s incest” 😭) I feel bad for those people at your school. Especially the guys, because the whole “no homo” bit. The whole “shame” thing to me is weird, I feel like this is common no matter where you go, with appearances and all but I feel like it’s not nearly as big of a deal here (unless you are rich and fancy ig.) but I feel like that’s a lot of pressure to put in a child, yknow. Children are supposed to make mistakes and be cringy! How else are they gonnna grow?

I feel like the dress code makes sense (not to me, but in comparison to all private schools) but this was the first time I’ve heard of the headbands??? Is cheating that common? I kinda chuckled at that one it caught me off guard. I LOVE HOW YOU SPECIFIED “tho it’s a joke” WHEN YOU MENTIONED YOUR SCHOOL BEING CALLED A CULT😭 like ‘we’ve talked about cults so much I gotta make sure I clarified’

Doing new things scare me to but I push myself anyways because too cuz I tend to beat myself up otherwise (the amount of self hatred I have is VERY high smh) I never did sports tho. I knew my limits. High key suprised I don’t have brain damage tho lmao. AND BET!!!! I would love to write that! Now to find the time to…

It took me a long time to love myself and at times it was very painful. It took an even longer time to forgive myself for making bad decisions when i was struggling, but I’m still learning, day by day.

Thank you for the kind words about my experiences and my dream to write a novel, it really means a lot. Normalizing mental health problems and differences between people, especially in children/adolescents is a large goal of mine and u hope that sharing my experiences one day would help do that.

lol you being paired up with many different types of people (including the gays and suspected gays lol) and getting along with them reminds me of when I was at the residental and was chill with everyone. Everyone would often fight with everyone and often had beef with people and I was just sitting there like “wHY CANT WE ALL JUST BE FRIENDS?????” I found it really cool how anyone could be friends with each other when they actually get to know them (and they were in forced proximity too lmao) like I was a awkward 12 year old that wore giant jigglypuff slippers. idk if I mentioned them but I wore them EVERYWHERE all around the school, they became a character trait of mine lol. When the hottoms wore thin (they were crappy Chinatown ones, it didn’t take too long and I wore those things till they were PAPER THIN.) some of the other girls and I huddled around the trash can and held a service for them, stating they would be missed 😭 bUT BACK TO THE POINT. I was an awkward 12 year old with giant ass pink puffs on my feet but I still became friends with all the older party girls and troublemakers. Istg I was the only person that didn’t have any problems with anyone. This made leaving hard, everyone was crying so hard and hugging me so tight, I had to keep handing out tissues (I had a thing where I said “tissue issues” when people were sad or something) so when I did that it only mad everyone cry more 🥲. It was a hard day but we threw a big dance party and I served pie to everyone. Literally, before the lil party I got to choose what we would eat and I was like “how about we just get pie and lemonade?” And we kind just went with it.

I heard of the most hated man on the internet actually and I watched something on the news about it. from what i heard the dude has grown now into a better person, but I could be wrong. Mothers are fucking awesome and people should never ever doubt their ability to fight for their children. Theres a Movie on netflix as well called the Lost Girls and it’s about a mother trying to find out what happened to her daughter. Her daughter was a sex worker and even though there was a clear pattern of missing sex workers the police didn’t do much because they were such high risk people who “knew what they were getting into.” It’s based off a real case in NY that’s STILL UNSOLVED. But luckily the movie helped get some more traction for the the case and got it into the minds of the public and law enforcement. If you are interested in true crime I have a few videos and YouTubers I recommend. I don’t often watch actual documentaries and stuff on Netflix or so because my ADHD brain says no, you can’t have your undivided attention on one thing for that long, that’s nonsense. So I often just listen to true crime stories. My favorite true crime YouTuber is named Eleanor Neale, she’s a great storyteller and is very respectful. Some of my favorite stories of hers are The Hello Kitty Murder, The Tragic Murder Of Child Star Judith Barsi, The Corpse at The Carnival and The Dollhouse of Human Corpses. Most of those are heavier but the last two suprisingly don’t have any murder and the second to last one is just a crazy story- that happens to have a corpse. But it’s not really sad- it’s weird, you would have to check it out yourself lol. Or if you want a more lighthearted channel, check out buzzfeed unsolved, especially the Shane and Ryan videos. They are hilarious and super interesting to watch.

I really hope you enjoyed the wedding! I’ve never been to one tbh, I was supposed to be a bridesmaid like three different times but each time the wedding was called off smh. I enjoy talking to you as well and you can respond whenever your social energy returns, don’t worry I totally understand- more than I want to lol

and omg about my relationship with religion, you describe it perfectly 🥺 thank you 🥺 i am not surr how i exactly put my relationship with faith bc i grew up with it but wasn't exactly attached to it compared to "traditional" religious people. i reread the entire text you sent and i swear i am in awe. this, you, will be my basis when someone asks me what religion is to me lol

I KNOW RIGHT i didn't sit right to me that we were sort of encouraged to date boys. our school and other fancy all boys school in our city have like an interaction day. thats what we call it. they let us hangout with boys visiting our school and let us handle the program. no supervisor nor guardians (have i told you that? if yes please dont mine my pea-memory) IT WAS DOWNRIGHT WEIRD FOR ME. we had speed dating and other games. oh and we were asked to come up with a gift to give them and the all boys school did too. they gave us a pillow and YOU KNOW WHAT each of us HAD TO GIVE IT SOMEONE PERSONALLY its not like "heres a sack of pillows come and get one ladies!" but rather A BOY PERSONALLY COMES UP TO YOU TO GIVE IT it appears as if someone is courting you and im??? i remember when i was giving my token, i picked a random dude with no gift in hand and was like "you dont have this (gift) yet?" and hes like "no" and gave it to him and left. i cant even remember his name 😭 then someone approached me for the pillow and i was like "thanks. cool!" and walked away 💀 we were 14 at that time. it was weird cos in my culture we are always told to date after uni graduation but they were ok with us meeting with boys at age 14/15??? AND EXACTLY! YOU'RE RIGHT nothing goes well with dating at a very young age. we are immature at that age so its no surprise that it will turn into a toxic relationship or unplanned pregnancy.

hello! same anon who asked the last question about being able to send an ask! i've been having questions about whether or not i could be an osdd system (1b to be specific) but i can't find answers to sone questions so i was hoping you could help me out? it's really long, sorry:(

1. the thing i have the most issues with is alters fronting. i don't exactly know how it feels to have another alter fronting and taking control of the body. there's only been a few times where i've genuinely felt like i wasn't in control of my body & felt trapped in it but other than that, whenever all my other alters(?) fronted i would still generally be able to control the body. i don't know how to explain it. for example, an alter who i think is a protector was fronting last night but besides the name and some traits, everything was pretty much still the same, like as if i was the protector? and i'm not the most knowledgeable on how osdd works, but should i be feeling atleast somewhat out of my control ?? it's happened pretty much every time an alter(?) has fronted(?) and i ended up in a really bad mood after trying to validate the possibility i might have osdd because i didn't know if this was real or if i was just being delusional. and this is kinda a silly question but when another alter fronts, thinking is still the same, right? like they can still talk in their head like a singlet would and such

2. 'voices' in your head - a lot of systems i've come across generally have the voices. i don't, atleast i don't think i do. again, i don't know how it would be if i experienced it. is it like how someone would talk to you irl? or is it more vague? or is it like, more of a feeling that you can't really 'hear' but yk it's saying that?

3. i can't exactly communicate with my alters, if i have any. i don't know how to and even then it feels really odd trying to talk to myself and again, i start to feel dumb/delusional again because osdd may not even be the case.

4. similar to the last thing, is it normal to 'talk' to your system? like last night for example, it's a blurry memory now but i remember 'we're going to bed now' 'we're gonna do this and then sleep' and such, despite the fact i know we can't really communicate. i think another alter was fronting then

4. i have trouble recognizing my alters as seperate identities and people, and rather tend to think they're pieces of me. so like, if another alter were to do something, and later i fronted, and if i would talk about what the other alter did i would still use "i did" rather than "(other alter) did". i'd just like some advice on this part

5. i have no idea whether or not systems i've met have 'different talents' but i've seen it going around a lot. to be more specific, my 'talents' or other stuff has never really changed. i usually still have social anxiety, my triggers are usually still the same, i've never suddenly gotten good at anything, and so on. is it a normal/common thing for systems for that not to happen?

6. memory. i have really bad memory, which actually led me to did/osdd (+ 8/9 year old me going "why do i feel like two people" and googling it years ago), and i always have trouble recalling what happened. after i do anything and i try to think back to it - it's just foggy. i can sometimes remember a bit of what happened, but generally i'll have to think for a bit and the visual memory of it will just be really really blurry. this happens pretty much every day but i have no idea if it does the same with important events because nothing important has really happened. and another thing - when you switch, do you still remember friends/online friends/family? i've had times where they've seemed odd(?) and somewhat unrecognizable but i've always known it's them, same with trauma and other stuff. i've always kinda known about it.

7. i've tested some things multiple times. for example, a few days or weeks ago, i was doing and typing stuff on discord in a server just for me, for fun. when i went away and checked back later, i know that it was me who did it, just not,, me, yk? like it happened with my own fingers and hands, i didn't have exact visual memories that i did it, but i had memory of doing it, so like, i knew, despite the fact another alter could've been the one doing it. same thing happened last night - now that i look back at the account i, or my alter, created, i can tell it wasn't exactly 'me', but i still had memory doing it. and it's never been like "what is this? i have zero memory of doing this" or something like that

8. i don't really have roles for my alters. well, some do. for example i think a protector (and maybe caretaker as well) was fronting last night. i just have trouble with the roles? if that makes sense. unless it comes naturally, like the protector for example, it's just kinda really hard for me to make stuff out. i also have dpdr & i dissociate and i believe that influences on how i view my identity and how i can't really make out stuff, even stuff like emotions, my opinion on something, who's fronting, etc.

9. as far as i know, systems have an 'inner world', right? i know some systems that don't, but i'm not sure if i have it and i dont know how to find out if i do

to add on, i'm kinda worried i might just be thinking i have osdd because i've been exposed(?) to it and that i might just be delusional and that i'm just making people up

lastly, would it be a good idea to try to reach out to alters? and if i should, how would i do so? thank you :D !! again, i'm really really sorry this was so long! don't stress yourself out on this please:]

hello! thanks for you questions! i’ll do my best to answer everything haha. I’m going to section everything off in the same way you did, but there may be some overlap between questions!

1.)I’m gonna start my answer to this by saying that switching feels and looks different for every system. There is no one way to switch. What happens for us when we fully switch is the obvious dissociative feeling, and then it feels like we’re “falling” almost and then after that falling feeling, we’ve switched. With your experience you’re describing, though, it seems more like co-conscious or co-fronting. Co-conscious is typically a feeling like you’re still in full control of the body, but another alter is in the ‘passenger seat of the car’ and is giving their thoughts on what’s happening on the outside. Co-fronting is more of a feeling where you feeling like you’re half in control of your body, and another alter has half control of your body. This can be a moment (that i’ve vaguely described on my tumblr actually) of feeling like “this isn’t my hand. I’m not controlling that arm.” However, that feeling can also happen with depersonalization. To help you tell the difference, i think it could be helpful to journal when/if you get those feelings and if you “feel” different, like you could actually be another alter. —/ part b.) for my system at least, thinking is still the same, regardless of who’s fronting. I’m not sure if that’s the same for other systems, but i’ve never heard or seen anyone talking about thinking being any different, but i have heard systems discussing something i’ll address in #2

2.) so, in my experience, my system does not audibly hear each other’s voices. Some systems do, and some systems have a different form of communication. Since i can’t talk about audible voices, i’ll only talk about ‘intrusive thought’ communication, which is what we experience. For my system, we get an intrusive thought of sorts. It’s just a thought, but we can tell who it’s coming from (honestly not really sure how, it’s just a feeling. I can always tell who is telling me something) That thought is different from normal thinking though, because it doesn’t feel like it’s coming from us and it has a different... vibe?? idk i honestly can’t really think of how to explain it lmaoo. To continue my answer from part 1, alters can use something called “passive influence” which is where they ‘control’ your thoughts to get what they want. An easy example is if someone asks what you (the fronting alter) want to drink and you want to answer water, but another alter wants sprite, they can use passive influence to say that YOU want sprite, when really you don’t. That’s the only way I can really think of the act of thinking being different though haha.

3.) my system doesn’t really have the best internal communication, but that’s the case for a lot of systems, especially new ones. It takes time and determination. One of the ways i’ve seen suggested to help with internal communication is before you go to sleep, when you’re in the calm and peaceful state, just ask into your head if anyone is there and wants to talk to you. Let them knower they’re safe and that you want to talk. Keep the convo friendly and ask them about themselves (i.e their name, age, role {if they have one}, favorite color, etc)

4.) to be completely honest, it’ll just take practice to change your habit of using “i did.” I don’t know how old you are, but you went your entire life up until this point believing you were a singlet. Using “i did” is still natural for you to use as a default. Try to catch yourself as (or after) you say “i did” and try to correct yourself and overtime that habit will hopefully be broken. The same goes for not really recognizing your alters. You went your whole life thinking everything was just ‘you’ (the host) so now, when discussing OSDD, it might be hard to really pinpoint who is who. That’ll just take time though. But don’t force your alters to fit a specific mold you made for them. Everything with figure itself out eventually

5.) what you described (with different talents and different mental health issues) doesn’t happen to my system and i believe it doesn’t happen to a good portion of systems, especially OSDD systems. The only thing that really changes for my system from alter to alter is preferences, such as food, instruments (my system knows how to play 8 instruments and each alter prefers one over the other lmao), and hobbies (like reading, painting, and writing) HOWEVER, we all still can paint and play all 8 of our instruments with the same skill. Our skill level doesn’t change between alter, just our desire to do that activity (if that makes any sense lmao)

6.) problems with memory and forgetting things is not a sign of OSDD-1b. Dissociative amnesia is only a sign of OSDD-1a and DID. I think it might be helpful to keep track of your switches and see if your memory “fog” overlaps with it. If yes, then you should probably consider check out OSDD-1a or DID. If it doesn’t, my honest suggestion is to consider talking to a doctor/therapist about memory problems and short term memory loss. (also to answer your question asking if we remember online friends: yes, we always remember other people, regardless of who’s fronting)

7.) this relates back to the memory question. OSDD-1b is not characterized by forgetfulness or memory problems. With OSDD-1b, you will never have that moment of “I don’t remember doing this” unless there is a VERY specific reason (i.e. a traumatic event that needs to be hidden) It is normal, on the other hand, to know that another alter did something, rather than you, and still have memory of it.

8.) i think roles are difficult for a lot of systems. I know my system had (and still has) a little bit of trouble with roles. My biggest advice is actually something i’m following rn and that’s to not force roles. Let alters naturally choose their roles. It may take a really long time though, but that’s okay. It might help to do some research as well. Google all the different alter types and see if you can pinpoint some that fit your system (like i said though, don’t forget those roles! let them have the ultimate decision)

9.) My system doesn’t have an inner world. We have something called Aphantasia which makes it impossible to see images in our head. There are systems who don’t have an inner world, however i don’t know if there is a specific reason or not. Ive heard that meditating can help you access the inner world, as well as, once again, trying to access it before you fall asleep. However, because I can’t have an inner world, i haven’t done much research on the topic and I suggest that you try and find a method that works for you :)

closing points: When considering any type of mental health problem/ mental disorder, make sure you’re not bending the diagnostic criteria to fit you. With OSDD, there are slight differences between every system, but nothing major that would require serious bending of the criteria. At the very end, you asked if you should try and reach out to your alters. You DEFINITELY should. They’re scared and confused, just like you. I think my answer for 3.) gives a good, easy starting point for alter communication c:

Why Super Mario Party is (Almost) My Favorite Mario Party

Any Mario Party fan will tell you that shit hit the fan when Mario Party games were no longer being made by Hudson Soft and instead by Nd Cube. Mario Party 9 and 10 were in a car which completely defeats the purpose of the board, Island Tour was at least a board game but it sure as hell wasn’t a Mario Party board game, and the Top 100 was too little to call a game.

Super Mario Party was Nd Cube’s way of saying “Fine! We’ll make Mario Party the Hudson way” and while many people congratulated it as “A step in the right direction”, the compliments stop there. You hear things like “only 4 boards?!” “Sure it’s fine, but it doesn’t even compare to the Gamecube Mario Parties” and “Come on? Just Mariothon for Online?” Now I’m not so infatuated with this game that I can’t see its flaws, I will talk about the flaws, but I think there’s a lot more steps in the right direction than just “going back to the regular boards” that Super Mario Party doesn’t get enough credit for.

One of Mario Party’s weaknesses that it has to worry about every entry is that it’s for parties, for four people. When you’re by yourself, what reason is there to play? For most, the answer is unlockables. You grind to get that new character, that new taunt, or that new board so that the party has more to offer next time your friends come. But the problem is that there is always a definitive way to grind. When I played Mario Party 6 for example, I didn’t touch the Mic mode or the Mini game modes at all. I just grinded in Solo Mode for a few hours because you could so many stars per game. Super Mario Party fixes this. Why? Because there is no shop. I mean there is a shop, but it’s just for stickers and advice. There is no shop for unlocking Diddy Kong, or unlocking Master difficulty, or unlocking 30 turns. It just kind of happens. So what you have to do is just keep trying different things until you get Diddy Kong. Now I’m sure there’s probably a wiki out there that tells you exactly what you have to do to unlock each thing, but that defeats the fun for me. It’s like unlocking stuff in Smash Bros., it’s so fun when you’re just grinding aimlessly in limbo.

The other thing I like is that practice mode and the instructions page are one of the same. In the other Mario Parties they were seperate, and it felt so inefficient because there was usually a clip or image of the mini game playing in the corner. Now for most people this might be minor, but as someone who’s playing with a 4 and 5 year old niece and nephew, it’s a life saver. When we play Mario Party 6, somebody always presses start before we’ve practiced, or stops practice before anything’s happened, or starts while someone else is in the bathroom. But now, everyone practices as long as they need to, and nobody can start before everyone else is ready because everyone has to press sl/sr. To go on about other things that are life savers when you’re playing with toddlers: high fiving after team mini games is an intuitive positive force that prevents tantrums. The fact that almost every 4-player mini game has a 2nd-3rd-4th ranking prevents sore losers, smaller boards are easier for them to understand, the list goes on. It feels like Nintendo received tons of letters from Karens complaining about their kid rage quitting Mario Party and punching their friend, and Nintendo tried to respond to as many as they could.

I love the new dice. I love how in general, picking a character matters. Maybe I should pick Goomba in case a mini game like Gridiron Gauntlet happens and size matters. Or maybe I should pick Boo because I like his dice. Or maybe I should pick Donkey Kong to play risky. And that’s not even mentioning the Allies. It’s so cool. I only wish 50 turns was a possibility so that you could accrew a massive amount and things go crazy. It would be totally within the realm of possibility that everyone gets 4 allies, or one person gets 13 allies and everyone else has 1. On the note of characters, one complaint might be that almost half the character select is dedicated to enemies that aren’t even really characters, at the sacrifice of classics like Birdo, Toad, and Toadette. I agreed with that notion at first, but then found myself very often picking characters like Monty Mole, Koopa Troopa, and Goomba. I couldn’t tell you why exactly, but it guess it feels really good to play the little when you’re up against these legends like Mario, Donkey Kong, and Bowser.

Sure, there’s only 4 boards. But this completely ignores the fact that Team Party changes the rules entirely. It makes the board essentially an Island Tour board. And sure, I may have said Island Tour was a bad game, but it was because that type of board was the main course. Having it as the Team Party mode makes it the perfect dessert. And I would compliment the mini-games, but I feel like it’s a rarity for the mini-games to ever be bad. Even when you’re playing the runts of the litter like Mario Party 9, it’s hard to call the mini-games bad. It’s honestly just hard to mess up. However I do like that there’s pretty much no 100% chance mini-games, and in the 4-player ones everything has ranks. It really makes skill a much bigger factor. For example, if someone is close to the star but a few coins short, I can’t stump them by beating them in the mini-game, 2nd or 3rd place might still be enough.

The raft mode was extremely fun, but I feel like it would be a little more fun with 4 players. No matter what difficulty the CPUs were on, I felt like they always messed up. However, that’s mostly a me problem. I really loved the Challenge road and how it had 8 worlds almost like a Mario platformer. The master goals were really challenging! (people who beat Pull It Together on master difficulty ftw ✊😤) Unfortunately I didn’t have any oppurtunities to beat the games where you put two Switches together like the banana one, but I would’ve loved something like this to do in the school cafeteria back when I was in high school. The puzzles and tanks were fun too.

Now, I said I’d mention what I don’t like. Single joycons is bs, there was no situation where a pro controller couldn’t have done what the single joycons do. I’m guessing there’s coding where they’d have to do things a second time to accomade for dual joycons and pro controllers and they just didn’t want to do it. And indeed, online would be a lot cooler with a full party mode, but I was still stoked just to have online at all. It’s a real shame 50 turns isn’t a thing, I feel like things don’t get really chaotic till after 30 turns. I feel like the items were lacking if you don’t count allies and team party mode-exclusive items.

There’s a lot of things I enjoy about the game. There’s at least 50 things where I’m like “man, if Mario Party 6 had this thing, it would be the best Mario Party ever.” I really hope Nintendo doesn’t shy away from a Super Mario Party 2 just because of the negative reception. I think Nd Cube is really experimental and says “hey, I like Mario Party as much as the next guy, but why were four virtually identical Mario Parties made for the GameCube? There’s gotta be something new we can bring to the table after so many years.” and even though they’ve had a few fumbles, I still have mad respect for that.

The deadname, by far. It symbolizes to me that not only do people not see me as non-binary, they don’t see me and Sofia as seperate people--essentially, it just ignores every last bit of my identity in favor of imagining me as a Normal Cis Girl. :c

3: Do you have more physical dysphoria or more social dysphoria?

Social dysphoria, by far. I have some physical dysphoria around my boobs, but overall it’s incredibly mild (if that’s all I had I would probably still be content as cis without really exploring my gender), but my social dysphoria is really, really bad.

4: What do you do to perform self-care when you’re feeling dysphoric?

Wear my binder! Or if I’ve been wearing my binder for too long, braless + loose clothes/hoodies. Talk to people who use my name and pronouns. Watch TV or do something else distracting that doesn’t involve gender things or other people.

6: When did you realize you were transgender?

When I was thirteen.

9: How did you come out? If you didn’t come out, why do you stay in the closet? Or what happened when you were outed?

I’m still not out, but I’m getting closer to coming out. I mostly stay in the closet due to being a system--it’s not enough to just explain “I am non-binary, this is my new name and pronouns for you to remember, I know you haven’t heard of any of this stuff, time to learn”, I have to start out with “If you know me, you actually know two different people, and we both have different names and pronouns and personalities and also there’s two others that we share our brain with who also have different names and pronouns and personalities and also genders that you’ve never heard of before and yeah I know this is probably a shock to you, who have known me all my life, and there’s internet arguments about whether or not we exist and science mostly doesn’t think we do but our 3 therapists all do, and we get cripplingly depressed when people think we don’t, so... time to get used to it?”

16: Have you ever experienced transphobia?

Yeah. Not too bad, but yeah. I’ve had a friend call me a ‘shemale’ and two of my friends refused to switch pronouns when I first came out to them. The reason I say not too bad is bc they’ve all learned better since then--14 year olds aren’t always the most, uh, socially conscious--but it definitely hurt a lot at the time.

20: What do you wish you could have shared with your younger self about being trans?

I wish I could have told my younger self that being gay or trans is okay, and not in a “don’t be mean to gay or trans people” way, in a “if you personally are gay or trans, that’s okay”. I wish I could have told them that it’s nothing to be afraid of, and that it’s not going to go away, and that there shouldn’t be any pressure to know anything or be anything, just an openness to whatever you end up being.

30: Who is the transgender person who has influenced you the most?

Oooh, hard question. I’m genuinely unsure? Until a couple months ago I was the only trans person I knew irl, and now I know quite a few! I don’t follow trans celebrities. There are a couple people online, but that’s another one that’s hard to call--the internet friend and ex-girlfriend, the person whose opinions about gender shaped my viewpoints to this day, the first person I met who blogged about non-binary transition, the people I coined diamoric with? I’m going to go with “too many to count” and “depends how you define it” and “a lot of it was just the community as a whole, not any specific person.” But we’ll see. c:

34: What advice would you give to other trans people, or what message would you like to share with them?

Don’t give up on life/happiness/life without dysphoria until you’ve gotten a chance to transition (whether socially or physically or both). Maybe it won’t help, maybe it’ll make things worse, maybe all your worst fears are right, but 9 times out of 10, living a life in which you have a body you recognize and friends who call you by your name and strangers who look at you and see you for the gender you are makes things a hell of a lot better. Don’t let anyone push you back into your own personal closet once you’ve left it--there’s a difference between “closeted for your own safety”, which is scary and a hard choice and sad and full of dysphoria, and “being in denial, trying to be cis, ignoring your own identity”, which is understandable as a coping mechanism but ultimately incredibly harmful to yourself. Be yourself in as many small ways as you can, even if you’re closeted: wear or DIY a binder beneath big clothes, tuck or pack, be out on the internet, write mini self-insert stories using your name and pronouns. If you need to, sneak and lie and steal to get to hormones, or a group where you can be accepted, or even just a place where you can feel safe. If you can safely open up, do it. If you’re non-binary or really anything other than a walking stereotype, people will have rude questions. Some of these will be well-meaning people who want to be kind but have no clue how or what words to use or even what this whole ‘transgender’ thing is. Some of them will be assholes who want to insult you or even assault you. Learn to tell the difference--educate the first, if you have time and energy (they might end up becoming your best friends); run from the second, as quickly as you can (they might end up becoming your worst enemies).

Basically? It’ll be hard, but don’t let that stop you. Never give up. Never give in. Society will push you down a million times. Keep getting up, even when you’re exhausted, even when you don’t think you have the strength to anymore.

Hey guys, I have some questions for you. I am 17 years old, and want to buy my first motorcycle (supermoto). I think I have a good idea on what it costs, but i'm just unsure. First off, i'll need to get my license. What'll that cost me? (California). This is what I was planning on spending on a down payment on a cheap used car. For the monthly note and insurance, my parents said that they'll help at least some until I get a job. The thing is, it's seriously impossible to get a job in my town. I've been trying for a couple years and just nothing. Most other people I know - not just teenagers - are having the same problem. Because of this, my parents are worried that having to pay for so much and me pay for basically just the down payment would be too much on them. They're struggling very hard financially and haven't bought a car themselves in 13 years. So I was looking at some car websites the other day and noticed that some of them had really appealing lease deals. The ones that most caught my attention were $0 down, and then a monthly payment of around $200 or less per month for three years. What really interested me about that deal is the no down payment, because if there's no down payment and they pay for the monthly note, then that's the only thing they have to pay, at least for quite a while. That leaves me with around $2,000 still in pocket to spend over time on insurance, gas, various maintenance costs, etc., plus if there are too many hidden fees, etc. in the lease. (My dad got me an insurance quote and it was a lot lower than I expected btw, about $560/yr.) That seems so much better than having to start back at $0 after buying the car having paid all the rest on the down payment. I just don't wanna spend that much down because then I'm left with nothing, if I can't get a job then I have no way to pay for everything, again my parents don't think they can pay too much. If they only have to pay the monthly note, then I still have quite a while to get a job and start making money before that couple thousand runs out and if I do eventually get a job (hopefully it'll be easier in another city, but I need a car in order to move), I can even help them with the monthly payments or pay all of them. But all they can say is, Why lease a car when you can buy one, you'll just be stuck in the same spot in three years. But this is completely missing the point. The problem here is that if I spend everything down, then I have nothing left to maintain the car with, and therefore can't have a car at all. I have no steady source of income and can't make a steady source of income without a car. But if I can afford to maintain a car for at least several months with money I already had and can later get a job in a bigger city, I at least have some car, regardless of whether not I own it or it's the best and wisest financial decision in the long run. Once I have a car I can move to a bigger city and hopefully go to college and then get a better job, I'm sure I can get another car later. So basically, if I want a car now (which I need one in order to advance my life and go to college and such) the only possible way is if I lease instead of buy, unless I suddenly come into a bunch of money or can find a car for sale with no down payment. I need to just do whatever I have to do to have a car and get by at the moment, but my parents won't let me. They're so stuck in their stubborn ways that leasing cars is always a waste of money (I agree that it'a a waste of money, but again that's not the point here, the point is that I need a car) when in this situation it would work much better for me. But they refuse to let me.""

I know there are a lot of things to take into consideration when getting insurance quotes and all but I was on craigslist and I found a nice little 2005 Audi A4 1.8t and I wanted to get an idea of insurance. Does a full license reduce insurance premiums over a provisional license(NOT learners permit)?

In my state and probably many others now as well, there are three License tiers: Learners Permit, Provisional Drivers License, and Full License. Learners permit is pretty much self explanatory, you have to drive with a parent/guardian only and must hold it for 9 months to get to the Provisional License in the middle which allows you to drive fully unsupervised after you turn 18 with many restrictions before 18 but still carries increased penalties(what they consist of I am not sure but they are nonetheless there only for Provisional Licenses) even after you turn 18, and then after you hold a Provisionals for 18 months, you can finally get a full license. Obviously not having increased penalties would be nice but I'm wondering if Full License status would also reduce insurance rates since it shows that you were able to hold a Provisionals for so long without moving violations and are therefore not quite as problematic of a driver as someone who has not yet passed the 18-month probationary period required for a Full License. Clarification on what a Provisional License is for my age(20): The Provisional License is for all intents and purposes basically the same as a full drivers license after you turn 18 with the exception of enhanced penalties for moving violations which remain possible until you get a full license.
