What if Billy and Gator met at sports camp when they were in middle school? What if they were rivals for the first few summers until their cabin pranks went too far and they got stuck in isolation together? Dot sends Gator a letter once a week, and his dad will always sign something at the bottom like ‘Go get em sport!’ but Gator knows Dot’s the one who remembers. Having to share a cabin with Billy, Gator realizes that Billy never gets any letters from home even though he always looks hopeful when they go to the mailboxes, and then crushed and pissed off in turns when he sees his is empty.

He feels smug about it at first until Billy gets a postcard one day from his mom and is silent for the rest of the day. And that’s when it comes out, that Billy hasn’t heard from his mom since she packed a bag one day and left while he was at school. She left him a letter, promising to come back and she called sometimes, but after the divorce was finalized the calls got fewer… and fewer. The postcard is the first he’s heard from his mom in months. She sent it from Niagara Falls - wrote she’s on her honeymoon. And even though Billy’s face is blank while he says all of this, Gator can hear the strain in his voice and the effort it’s taking not to cry and for once he doesn’t talk smack or give Billy shit. Cause he hasn’t heard anything since his mom walked out on him. Not even a goodbye.

Eldritch Dreamling is a classic eldritch horror based off the last drabble in my monthly drabbles I did, but also expanded. :D

So aside from what I've already written, and what little I've done after that.... I may be procrastinating because I have Ideas™ that's made it so big in my brain that it's kind of intimidating. But I do plan to do it, because it's also. Really delicious, for me personally. Perhaps this may be one I'd be willing to post the chapters up as I write. Idk. 🤔

Snippet:

Hob is sure that the creature is laughing at him, as he grits his teeth and gives a razor-sharp smile to the woman kissing Morpheus ― before he unceremoniously pulls the lordling away by the scruff of his black jacket. Morpheus scowls at him, and Hob can almost feel the creature’s laughter crawling under his skin as Morpheus once again, complains about ruining his fun.  “Never know what evil things someone might have planned,” he replies acerbically once they’re back in their small room at the inn. Morpheus huffs, crossing his arms. “You’re just jealous,” Morpheus replies, pink lips pulled into a smirk and Hob bites down on his tongue, once again cursing the creature ― and the creature’s words, seared onto his mind’s eye.  Obscenely, he doesn’t reply, because he can only think in fits and starts of kissing Morpheus’s lips, of tugging his hair and touching soft skin before he has to force himself to stop. Mainly because if he starts thinking about, or about the way Morhpeus sidles alongside him, the constant bat of lashes and overt gestures Morpheus sends his way―”if you say so,” he says, and Morpheus scowls.  “You are very infuriating,” Morpheus says slowly, words clipped and Hob blinks. Hob scratches his hair, “and we have to plan where to go next, so you’d be wasting time anyway,” Hob points out, and almost wants to punch himself in the face as the other’s scowl deepens. If you want to blame anyone, blame that creature, he doesn’t say as he gets a map out.
