I know you’ve said you don’t really like writing smut, so I thought I should ask. Should I be getting my hopes up for smut in on a Friday?

SO it's not necessarily that I don't like writing smut... more like I'm just not very good at writing it 🤣 I always get myself confused about what is where and then make myself cringe trying to make it sound sexy and then I start laughing and it becomes significantly not smutty or sexy and very "sub-par" HOWEVER people have been so nice and encouraging about the little smut prompt fill that I posted last week and it has given me a tad more confidence that maybe my smut writing is getting better?

ANYWAY, to answer your question, there are some smutty scenes in the outline for On a Friday, I can't guarantee that they are going to be as spicy and smutty as one would usually hope for in an omegaverse fic, or that they are going to be any good, but I am in fact going to do my best and try really hard, especially because they are um rather angsty sex scenes? Is that a thing? I feel like at least with my writing it's probably a thing. Anyway, my previous comments stand - please don't make fun of me too much for my smut writing attempts, I promise I'm trying and I do want to get better at it, I am just a sensitive soul who gets distracted very easily and loses track of where all the body parts are and then I make myself cringe with the dialogue because it ends up being cheesy and not the vibe.

My main hobby is just procrastinating in any way I can. The plan was to make a cup of coffee and then start working. What actually happened is that I watched a 3 part video series (by james hoffmann ofc) on Aeropress coffee and made a few cups with different variables. Still not sure if I found The Recipe for me, but it’s getting better (tho I don’t love the coffee beans I have)

I see a totally different thing.

Ray and Fraser are so perfectly in sync that Fraser doesn't even have to chew it all out for Ray because Ray understands Fraser on a much deeper level. Their partnership goes beyond words.

Ray knows Fraser is shaken up (he tells Welsh and Welsh trusts that Ray knows what's going on with Fraser) and that he's working on things on a deeper layer than this case.

Ray hasn't even met Victoria but he knows Scarpa is not to be trusted. She's manipulative and she's playing games with Fraser. He just doesn't know that Fraser sees through it. Even though Fraser keeps telling him.

But Fraser also knows he has this one chance to finally show himself that he is not going to fall for something like this again. Maybe even that he can open up and love.

That he is capable of doing this and not losing himself in the process again. He's learning to bluff.

And he has to do this part alone. Because the other time, it was taken from him by a bullet in the back.

So let me present you the way I see it. Fraser completely trusting Ray to have his back.

Ray being an absolute hero. There was never any doubt in Fraser's mind that Ray would get it, get him.

banjo week one notes 🪕

went from thinking "oh hell yeah maybe i will play a song for the kids at camp this year" to "oh my god i'd be lucky if i could learn Skip To My Lou on this thing i'm a complete idiot" to "oh okay maybe i could play a song for the kids at camp this year. a simple song though."

wrist pain unsurprising. what is surprising is the chest pain. this beast is Heavy and it keeps bonking into my chest and i don't have much padding there anymore. gonna end up with banjo boob bruises. sad. might sew myself a little padding/armor thing to cover just the right side of my chest, like a mune-ate in kyūdō or something.

humbling in a very nice way to start learning a new art pretty much entirely from scratch and on my own. the depths of my ignorance is astounding.

this thing is HEAVY. shockingly so. i went to put it on the scale and it came out at 6 pounds and i feel like i'm insane—but that's probably because all the weight is centered in the head/drum of the banjo. and the neck has barely any weight at all.

learning mostly from a combination of pete seeger's revised "How to Play a 5-String Banjo" manual he wrote back in the 50s, youtube videos, and tabs that people have shared online for free.

at the moment i just kind of read/view/play as much as i can until my head starts swimming and then i put it down (abt an hour of practice each day i think)

still struggling with the comfort factor on banjo picks. awkward to use. but i love that they look like i have claws LMFAO

the sound of the banjo itself is insanely pretty. it hums beautifully when its plucked or even gently prodded. when my brother handed it to me he hit a string and i was like Oh I Need That In My Hands Right Fucking Now

that said—because of the weight of it, part of me is now thinking, when i get a job that is stable and reliable, it might be nice to get a lightweight, open-back banjo without the resonator, maybe as a traveling/practice banjo. then, i looked at the prices for even used banjos and thought "fuck it maybe i'll learn to make one instead" LMFAOOOOO.

i'm already getting much quicker with plucking and fretting—fretting is still Dead Slow and i don't know where my fingers are, but it doesn't take me a whole minute to put fingers down (EMBARRASSINGLY SLOW) and plucking, i can even be a little fast and accurate sometimes. not up to Expected Plunky Banjo Speed but I'm getting there. would attach a video if i were not still embarrassed. next time maybe.
