I think everything that could be said has already been said regarding Charles’s Monaco win. But I’m just… Wow. It’s so surreal.

Having followed him for several years now, witnessing the hope and subsequent disappointment as yet another chance to win his home race slips away… The heartbreak and helplessness of 2021 and the anger and frustration of 2022… It’s Charles’s dream fulfilled and Charles’s accomplishment but I feel like it’s personal for so many of us who’ve endured all of those emotional rollercoasters and setbacks along with him, invested in his quest to reach for something he yearned for so deeply. We’re all sharing in it now, Charles’s emotions a reflection of our own; disappointments into delights.

The funny thing is, I was completely calm once he secured pole on Saturday, in a way I rarely am, especially when it comes to racing. It’s hard to describe but it was just this serenity, this gut feeling that today is the day, and that there won’t be any more upsetting surprises. That this is the weekend where that chapter of the “curse” ends, where history is made, that this is where the path was leading all along.

It wasn’t really until Charles crossed the finish line, until that team radio, that inflection in his voice, the way he evidently teared up, the way he ran into his team’s waiting embrace and the way he spoke about his father that it hit me, the emotions, the sheer magnitude of the feat – so straightforward at first glance but heavy with the weight of expectation, longing, past disappointment. The palpable relief on the podium, the way he could finally close his eyes and just drink it all in. Maybe it played out exactly the way he had imagined all that time, maybe it was different, maybe it was better. But it was, in some way, fated.

(Something I noticed abt Betty and Simons relationship)

I love Betty and Simon’s relationship, I think their back story is so cute and romantic and all that lovely stuff don’t get me wrong.

But there’s this under tone of Betty constantly giving things up for Simon and we don’t really talk about it a lot???

Like, Betty let Simon have his moment with the artifact and the pubic, she also doesn’t go to her trip in favor of going on an expedition with Simon. Then when she goes to leave again she stays for Simon.

Even Fiona is like “you went with her on the bus?” And Simon just looks all confused like “what? No, why would I do that?” Like- hello???

Then after that she gave up her entire life and mind to get Simon back to the point where she literally says “I don’t know who I am without him anymore.” And that just sucks! Since the beginning Betty has been the one giving up the most, her mind, her own possible career, and it’s a story of love of course and it’s very sweet but it’s also a story of sacrifice.

Their love wasn’t a perfect solution, it was already sort of imbalanced when it started and I lowkey love how we see those cracks even before they’re together.

Again, I love their relationship and I think it’s sweet. I just think we should talk about Betty’s side more, especially when she tells a story of what most women do in relationships, sacrifice.

honestly I feel a little guilty for saying it but I do think out of all of the dogs so far, I’ve bonded with Kepler the fastest.

Boone was my first dog and unfortunately there were just a lot of factors in my life at the time (location, work, my mental health, the separation anxiety, etc) that made the first few months a struggle. he was the only dog I would say I had “puppy blues” with, ironically. obviously we worked past it, but I was always a little bummed that we never had that “instant connection” I’d always read about.

Stellina was by far the easier puppy, but she was also my first puppy ever and I had a lot of anxiety and insecurity about how to handle that. she’s also always been more independent (by herding dog standards, at least) and I’ve felt like I’ve had to put in more work than expected to build a relationship - and don’t get me wrong, I think it’s paid off wonderfully, but, again, it wasn’t like a super easy, effortless thing.

Kep is obviously still very new, and he’s had more annoying Puppy behaviors than stellina, but the relationship/bond part just feels like it’s come a lot more naturally. it very well might be that now I’m just a lot more experienced and comfortable bringing in new dogs - I’m not on edge like I was with Boone, or fretting over everything like with Stellina. He also seems more people-focused than Stellina, which probably also affects things. Idk, it’s still so early and I don’t want to set unreasonable expectations for myself, but I’m still optimistic and hopefully if things keep going on this trajectory, he’s going to be a very special dog one day.

a mickey milkovich + physical affection in s11 meta

Mickey Milkovich went from flinching away any time Ian tried to touch him in a non-sexual setting to accepting physical acts of love and affection even when it’s difficult for him to do so. And i wanna talk about those moments and progression of it as seen in the later seasons of shameless.

I do think that the writers did a good job at portraying the difference in the moments in which he would accept the physical touch with a smile and when it was more difficult for him to do so. (ps me saying the writers did anything gOOd in the later seasons of shameless is quite a rare occurrence)

Season four is when we really begin to see the beginning of that shift into accepting it from Ian. Season five we see that he has gotten more comfortable in receiving as well as giving, especially in times of distress regarding Ian. The next time we see them as a fully functioning couple, there are definitely times in which Mickey was hesitant to accept it but only in times when he felt vulnerable and exposed in terms of his past.

I am going to focus on the later season here as that is when we see Mickey begin to actually address the situation with his father. For example, 11x12 when he had just revealed a genuine fear of his that branches from the abuse he faced in childhood, he flinches at/recoils at Ian’s attempt to comfort him. However, later in the episode, he accepts these joyful acts of affection from Ian because it is something he is no longer ashamed of. He does not shy away from physical affection when it comes from a place of being open and in love with Ian.

I think that this shows that although Mickey has become comfortable and unapologetic in his sexual identity, he has not made those strides in other areas of his life. He still feels this grave shame regarding his father and the abuse he faced. He thinks it makes him weak and has trouble admitting that it is something that has impacted him to this day. It is also shown in 11x06 when Mickey accepts help from Ian in getting Terry up the steps. Ian stops him, holding his head and reassuring that he is nothing like Terry. Mickey struggles to even look Ian in the eye at this time, the vulnerability so overwhelming. It is so interesting how he tends to resent any affection during times regarding that part of his life that he has never fully healed from. It is also incredible to see how Ian knows exactly how to deal with him in those situations. He knows what Mickey needs, offering small acts of affection in those times until the finale. It is as if Ian was holding in this urge to embrace him, so he finally gives in and forces Mickey into the hug, knowing it is what he needed once Mickey stops resisting almost immediately.

anyways, mickey milkovich still has a lot to heal from regarding his past but has come so far in accepting himself and i’m so proud of him and ian is so proud of him and he couldn’t have done it without him anddddd yeah enjoy these pics of him being happy and in love

Like is it just me or have all the pairings been really lacking in the romantic department lately? Like Rhaenyra/Mysaria is one thing sure, but where was the lead up for that? Sure we have women supporting other women but there really wasn’t any romantic tension up until the hug and then it was immediately interrupted. I doubt it’s actually going to develop from there either and it’s just meant to show Rhaenyra isn’t straight. Which like, awesome, I’m genuinely happy for it!! Im so happy to see more queer characters on television, especially as a queer person myself. But it also treats Mysaria as a disposable love interest if this plot point goes nowhere. And that honestly doesn’t feel great with how this show has treated its characters of Color.

I feel like the same thing happened with Alicent and Criston too. At least in the first season there was a moment of “if you feel anything for me… as your queen” which felt more fanservicey than explicit, and then season 2 drops and they’re immediately banging episode 1. Where’s the lead up? Where’s the development? Even Jace and Baela, while they seem friendly, haven’t even kissed or shown anything other than friendship in two seasons so far. Why is that? They’re supposed to be engaged. Sure war is happening but they have time to talk about Luke and Daemon. Why isn’t Baela worth being pursued romantically? Why doesn’t she have any traits from her book counterpart, where she’s said to love chasing boys and wrestling with squires… it feels like nobody is pursuing anyone at all. Aegon and Helena are literally nonexistent. Corlys and Rhaenys are the only couple who’ve consistently been shown adoring and in love but Corlys also cheats on her at some indeterminate amount of time and Rhaenys isn’t even allowed to be shown upset by this—why can’t their relationship be dynamic? Why can’t she be even a little bit taken aback by the fact that the love of her life sired two illegitimate children with someone else when both of their children are dead in the grave? Rhaenyra and Daemon have the most development out of any other pairing but that’s not even saying anything when their relationship is fraught with unhealthy power dynamics (esp with Mysaria added) and grooming since Rhaenyra was a child, and now they’re in their separation arc.

I just. Is anyone in this universe actually happy in their relationships?? At least Ned & Catelyn seemed to like each other 😭 was the best we got to have was Harwin & Rhaenyra’s behind the scenes agreement?

I love Dead Boy Detectives and absolutely everything about it, but I find it strange that nobody has pointed out the inconsistency with the mechanics of Charles’ bag?? Like in the Devlin House episode, Edwin explicitly states that it takes a lot of practice to learn how to use the bag, and that if he so much as sticks his hand into the bag, “it is liable to be torn off.” And yet in a later episode (The Case of the Two Dead Dragons, iirc), Charles and Edwin escape the demon from Hell by climbing into Charles’ bag. idk, not putting too much thought into it, I just found that strange

many thoughts about soulless sam. he was literally just a guy. it wasn’t his fault he was brought back ‘wrong’. and i have a hard time blaming him for wanting to stay that way when he knew he was a much more effective hunter, even as he struggled with knowing there was something fundamentally missing. it’s hard to want something back when the same thing that makes you more 'human' also slows you down and makes everything so much more complicated.

thinking about how hard he tried, too. he tried to be normal sam for dean's sake, so it’s not that he just didn’t care at all. he cared enough to want to care even though he didn’t really.

i just have such a hard time seeing him as a villain of any sort when he didn’t have a choice in being brought back that way
