The character here isn’t actually NiGHTS though, it’s just the service’s mascot (Connie) in a NiGHTS cosplay :( Still cute though

Btw Sega Magazine also has a clearer version of the CNiD gallery photo of the prototype plushes (which is on the right to compare)

There isn’t anything new or obscure in this picture but the red text box just says “Reala is useless!” :(

There was also an advertisement for a NiGHTS themed OA cleaner for computers which is some merch I’ve never seen mentioned elsewhere

More prototype plushes!! The proto Christmas NiGHTS plush looks more like the regular NiGHTS plush as opposed to being a little keychain plush. From Sega Magazine, March 1997

A new photo of the prototype NiGHTS plushes! They seem to be the same ones shown in the gallery feature in Christmas NiGHTS— Elliot and Claris have different eyes, NiGHTS’ gem is sewn on as opposed to a plastic gem, and Reala’s cowl is shaped differently. This comes from the Nov. 1996 issue of Sega Magazine, one of Sega’s official magazines in the 90s

It seems that Reala’s idle animation also has a second part where he tilts his head slightly and looks around, probably related to where the bombs are placed around him

Comparing the acrobatic moves between NiGHTS and Reala— they’re the same animations but Reala’s model behaves strangely with some of the moves, maybe due to 2P mode/playable Reala being a later addition?

A high quality look at Reala’s acrobatic tricks from 2P mode!! He seems to have the same ones as NiGHTS (although they look a little different on his model). I counted 12 clips while making this video, meaning this should be all of his tricks. I think the two I missed in NiGHTS’ video are the first and last clips shown here?

Nights into Dreams Manual Comparison

Never having owned a Sega Saturn, Nights into Dreams is a game I had heard about for a long time but never had the opporunity to play. This weekend, I learned that the game was ported to Steam and decided to give it a shot. It took me a little while to warm up to the mechanics, but it’s a charming little game once you get into it. However, when I checked out the How to Play section to get a better idea of how to play (only after painfully learning most of the mechanics through trial and error), I discovered that the Japanese and English prologues painted very different pictures. Curious, I dug up scans of the original Japanese and English manuals, only to find that these contained yet more differences. Since I thought it was interesting how differently they’re written, I wanted to make a post comparing each version.

So, in the NiGHTS forums, there had been some bits of hacking into the games, and this particular one is the Japanese PS2 version of NiD. One of the things found was this unused track called “halloween.adx.”
