i’m trying to explore the world of vlr, an Earth ravaged by Radical-6, and how such a world might change Sigma Klim so drastically from pervy unserious college kid to one of the greatest omnidisciplinary scientists that has ever or will ever exist

but i don’t know everything, or even a lot of things, so i don’t know what topics to explore. but i am Very Good at rationalizing things i know very little about.

this is where you come in. please send me comments, reblogs, DMs, and asks with topics to write about from the POV of Sigma Klim. anything will do as long as it relates to the VLR timeline in some way, but more specifically i’m looking for things that fit in these three categories:

What Went Wrong (micro, local events, reports from crash keys. e.g. perception of free the soul cult rallies from ‘crazy rambling asshole’ to ‘prophetic messiah’)

Rewatching the latest episode of Blank and I just keep laughing at Chet. That man is surrounded by queer women - his almost wife, his child's mother and his child - and yet he is homophobic. But he doesn't want to be the one to tell his child so the ridiculousness of him trying to get queer women Khun Neung to go over to a table of queer women (consisting of her sister Sam, the girl she likes Aneung, and the girl they're going to use to make each other jealous Yui) and tell them that being gay is wrong... my man you are in the wrong crowd.

At least he has the confidence to be homophobic straight to Neung and Aneung's faces next week with the "A lesbian novel?!?!"

So, something Hermes said about always being there after an Idol dies has stuck with me. They say they can't explain it because it's between them and the previous Hermes, and through certain dialogue choices in the Underworld they mention Charon. Of course, that's early enough that Grace doesn't have the knowledge to understand that Idols go to the Underworld when they die, and at this point all the other Idols have forgotten.

But Hermes knows, and it's a little strange that this is never brought up, but that's not the point I was trying to make here.

If Hermes has to be there every time an Idol dies, doesn't this mean that they know whether some of the Idols that disappeared are alive or not? They never get into the details of how that works and why it happens because, again, that's a secret, but it makes sense that Hermes would know about the others. Not necessarily this Hermes, since they haven't gotten the memories back yet, but at some point they will remember as well.

This also means that Hermes might have known what happened to Calliope from the start, if they were the one who took her to the Underworld and thought to ask how she died.

I am very glad that you actually responded and given me an actual advice since I was worried about the question I sent you.

Though besides that I have another question for you (hoorayyy)!

So, about the reading books earlier- I’m fortunately a bookworm too! It’s just that I notice I prefer reading the genre science fiction/psychological horror more than… anything else!

And while the books I am currently reading, ‘Flowers For Algernon’ and ‘I’m Thinking Of Ending Things’ (these books are seriously so wonderfully made they make want to tear my walls), DO have romantic aspects of it- it’s not really the main plot of the story..

‘Flowers For Algernon’ has amazing storytelling and is very unique- though I’m not sure if you’ve read it before but, it’s actually just the main character taking notes. Hence why there was a lot misspellings which honestly makes it a great touch if you know the context behind it.

On the other hand, ‘I’m Thinking Of Ending Things’ too shares the same uniqueness as the other, possibly even more unique if I must say so myself. Though I REALLY don’t want to make my story similar to them since I want to make it more heart warming than fucked up..

Which is why I feel like I have the need to borrow or buy at least one romantic book because, I lack of it. I mean I accidentally borrowed it one time but it was kind of disappointing.

I don’t know if its a good idea and if I should do it or not since does it really matter of the genre, or just the writing?

Still, if you have any good books that are in the romance genre. Feel free to recommend some to me!

i actually don't have any straight up romance recs - i don't actively search it out (outside of fanfic), so any romance i read just comes with whatever book i've picked up. just straight up romance bores me, unless its a fic with a pairing i actively like. and even then, i need to take breaks from it unless the romance is interspersed with an actual plot. im not a romantically-geared person! i dont have single Main Plot Is Romance book on my shelves!

but imo its really just the quality of writing that helps. ive never been in a romance, im the child of two different divorces, and yet ive been told that i write romance fairly well. go fuckin figure lmao.

so actually my advice on romance is to just like. wow idk what i do is pick apart the romances i see on tv / in writing. what makes them good together, how do they act around each other, what are their love languages, what's their dynamic, what traditional romance things do they partake in, what dont they partake in, do they have anything nontraditional, do they work and why do / they dont they - does that make their relationship more interesting or is it flat. are they a good match.

you don't have to have every answer, but ive found that at least understanding their characters / dynamics, and having them interact in a way that suits them will help your romance feel natural. dont conform to tropes or tradition, that will just make the relationship flat and unrealistic. and you can always sprinkle in little things that you like / would like, which will help ground the romance and get you into the groove

tldr with romance, i think it's better to observe real life (whether that's paying attention to couples or reading reddit threads) & analyze in-love or in-a-relationship characters instead of just reading romance novels. bc honestly, and from what i can tell, they can tend to be over the top or cookie cutter

AMIRA.......... Something about that. :3 is so ominous.

Uh. Well, okay first off he's extremely relatable to me as a very tired 30-something in the workforce.

Like. This is very me. Very very me.

Also he is very pathetic in a cute and endearing way (to me).

And then his dead eyes...

He has a feral cat kind of feel that you wanna take home and try and take care of. He's dead inside and is extremely anxious but still tries his best for the kids he works with and while he often concerns them with his terrifying behavior he's still kind to them. Upbeat but also very clearly dead inside.

All to say that his multi-facetedness makes him interesting as a character but also a pain to write (I've expressed to friends that he feels a lot more complicated than ••••). It's a challenge in a fun way. I guess I enjoy that about him too.

I'm delighted you asked me! but i hope you don't mind my answer which is: i hate thinking about that!!!!!! if i think about him being a human i am not attracted to him AT ALL and it feels weird! if he somehow got turned into a human i would cry real tears! sometimes i think about that just to check if anything changed but it never has!!!! SOMETIMES I THINK ABOUT THAT as angst fodder because it would be a pure tragedy if he somehow became a human!!!!!!!

oh anyway i just realized i didn't answer your ACTUAL question because you didn't ask me how i felt about it. as for his looks i have zero feelings. EXCEPT!!!! that he would have the cutest smile in the world to me. (that means it would look exactly like my husband's smile)
