Voyager provides us with very fertile ground for fanfics because the gaps between episodes are huge… I have some headcanons about things that happened… Janeway and Chakotay certainly exchanged birthday gifts a few times. And I'm sure they did holodeck programs together from time to time. I doubt Chakotay didn't sleep on Kathryn's couch at least once after one of their dinners, and she kindly covered him with a blanket. Neelix must have had Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter parties. The crew must have received letters, videos, and tributes from friends back on Earth constantly after Hunters. At least half the ship fell in love with Ayala, that's for sure! Maybe the other half fell in love with Chakotay. In fact, I bet some of the crew tried to flirt with him. Kathryn never stopped teasing Chakotay for kissing an alien from species 8472. Chakotay had a personal diary where he wrote only things about Kathryn, from his crush on her to the troubles she gave him. (He decorated this diary with flowers and hearts). Someone, at some point (probably the Doctor or Neelix) mentioned to Kathryn that she and Chakotay were a couple, and she nearly choked to death on her coffee. Someone asked Chakotay that too, but he just smiled like an idiot. (After that, rumors about the JC couple spread throughout the ship)

i might just be pulling this out of my ass but i feel like terezi and gamzee really did a lot of damage to how people see pitch relationships

and i get it, terezi and gamzee’s relationship was basically everything people say about pitch relationships. it was abusive, horrible, and enabled by everyone around them

but they’re also not the only pitch relationship we see in the comic, or even the only pitch relationship we see terezi get into

and they’re not even the only abusive and/or toxic relationship we see by far, and plenty of those weren’t pitch

#idk i feel like a lot of the arguments i see for why pitch romance is toxic apply to terezi and gamzee specifically #and not really to anyone else #and it kind of ignores the fact that homestuck is a comic filled to the brim with terrible relationships #say what you will about vriska (she got way too much hate)#but vriska and tavros was an abusive situation #and even if they were all over the place when it comes to quadrants #ultimately vriska wanted him red and it was red feelings she was dealing with #similarly dirkjake is red #say what you will about that shit too #and whether you think they can patch that up or not or who was at fault or whatever #i’m not asking for a five page essay on how dirk was perfect or how dirk was the devil lol #but they were a mess #and they were also very much red #aranea and jake #vriska and meenah #meulin and kurloz arent dating anymore but were red #honestly there are too many examples with the dancestors you get what i mean by this point #there are so many examples i can list #and also examples of good or at least not toxic pitch relationships i could list #but these tags are already way too long #i think ultimately #hussie probably just likes the drama of a bad relationship #so there are tons of them #which is fair lol

to be fair i think the reasons why i believe quadrants r fake versus why i believe classpects r fake are pretty crucially different. like homestuck kind of goes out of its way to trick you into thinking classpects could be real whereas i genuinely dont think hussie ever expected anyone to read about moirallegience and think wow... so romantic.. i want that in my life ❤ LOL

#i saw oomf today mention the difference between 'quadrants as they serve the narrative' and 'quadrants as they serve the fans'#which i thought was interesting because obviously the way classpects captivated the audience was actually very similar...#i guess homestuck is not unique in this regard like. steven universe has its gems #rpg classes in general kind of permeate the popular culture because they serve this exact purpose #but i have to wonder how much of it is because homestuck is a story about telling stories #and therefore just has all these fucking worldbuilding tools lying around. ofc people are going to scavenge that shit #man this is probably why so many people see homestuck as a wreck that needs their 'fixing' too #like i know. again. this is not an affliction that belongs to homestuck alone #but i think it's easy for some readers to get lost in all the interesting worldbuilding without realising that the worldbuilding is there #in order to make a comment ON WORLDBUILDING ITSELF #</rant>

actually before i go to sleep

giving Luz the same kinda shot composition here directly after finding out what happened to King and Eda (and telling Camila that she hasn’t changed her mind about returning back to Gravesfield after rescuing the two) while dressed as Azura (someone she admires) to when Philip arrived to the isles in search and rescue for Caleb (<- if getting there was accidentally or not does not matter) while dressed in his attire or at least clothes that resembles them, truly driving home the point of how similar the two of them are and how they really are just mirrors of the other

#especially the returning back to Gravsfield line is really important to me. both of them wanted to return to a home that isn’t home because #their actual home is the people/person they want to rescue.#how they really are just the other to the left and that’s exactly how Luz and Camila escape the tragedy that Philip and Caleb couldn’t #theres more to say about this but im tiered and need to go to sleep.#but also how the collector is playing out stories they’ve been told and quit literally using the isles and it’s inhabitants to do so #the way Luz in the beginning and Philip project onto it. anyways stopping here #cause i could be talking about the Luz. ghostknife could never be strictly romantic to me if they ever happen btw. they've got something much deeper and more intimate and interesting going on than just romance. like they're just as much partners as they are with dakota and ashe just in a vaguely different way. u get me. they're in a codependent four way qpp. u can't have ghostknife being canon if u dont have the rest of them all being just as affectionate and clingy as ghostknife is. william and vyncent kiss sometimes and dakota braids vycnent's hair and ashe sits on williams lap and lets him preen his wings and dakota and ashe fall asleep on the couch with their legs tangled up in each other and dakota wears william's sweaters and only gives them back when they stop smelling like william and ashe asks vyncent to brush her hair when they're too tired to do it herself. ghostknife is romantic but they're also a Secret Third Thing and they also have that Secret Third Thing with the other prime defenders. the romance is just kind of a bonus. the more important part of their relationship is that Secret Third Thing. does this make any sense or am i just too aromantic to get romance and i'm just overcomplicating it again and not realizing it

Can the balanced dog trainers please stop fucking talking about positive reinforcement as if those dogs are not “obedience trained”? A majority of competition obedience dogs I know were trained with R+. Letting your dog wander on the end of a line because you want to do so does not = untrained. It is simply…a choice.

#dogblr #dog training #I try to hear both sides and follow a diversity of people but this really stands out to me #1.) balanced means using multiple quadrants. positive reinforcment is part of that #2.) balanced trainers come off really insecure in their own philosophy when they do stuff like this #you should not have to put down other dog owners and trainers to elevate yourself #if you have to do this constantly there is a problem #the reality is to me so many of these people scream ‘I’m important and smart look at me me me!’#the equating of r+ as = untrained in these circles is wildly prolific #‘I fixed this former r+ dog that was reccomend for BE!’#acting like all r+ people are the inexperienced pet folks who have taken a single puppy petsmart class #and not a wide variety of individuals with varying abilities #meanwhile how dare r+ and force free people put THEM in the same box as abusive aversives using people #it’s just…how do these people have time to be like this #like shouldn’t you be training dogs?#every time people talk poorly about positive reinforcment I want to take them to a zoo #the hyenas do cooperative care with positive reinforcement #the tigers wolves and bears and other large dangerous animal too #your domestic dog is not different or special or in any way more in need of aversive treatment
