Sirius tried so hard to hide how much he truly cared about everyone, but it was easy to tell in moments like this. Lily signed in fondness at his antics. “He’s not as unbearable as you made him sound.”

Silence for a beat, then: “He didn’t… say anything to you, did he?” Lily immediately knew what he was insinuating and she almost wished he had a bit more faith in his brother, but she couldn’t blame him for assuming. When she didn’t answer, Sirius continued: “‘Cause if he did I’ll make him regret it, Lils.”

Lily chuckled at the threat, empty or not she couldn’t really tell, and shook her head. “No, no he didn’t Sirius. As a matter of fact, we even conversed like normal people do.”

Lily felt Sirius shift and looked down to see him looking at her with a raised eyebrow, lips pursed. “Are you sure that was my brother? Might’ve gotten him mixed up with someone else.”

“Oh trust me, Pads, I can recognise your stupid Black genes anywhere I go,” Lily replied. Sirius pretended to be hurt by her statement, putting his free hand on his chest as he winced.

“You are a cruel woman, Evans.” Sirius recovered from her cruel remark quite quickly though and immediately went back to questioning her: “But seriously, what did you two have to converse about?”

“Potions assignments, obviously,” Lily lied because Sirius truly did not need to know that Regulus of all people was trying to help Sirius get together with Remus.

Sirius rolled his eyes. “Oh of course you perfect students bonded over bloody potions homework. I can’t believe this.”

Lily laughed at that, burying her face into Sirius’ now tangled hair. Sirius joined in on her laughter only a moment later and they stayed like that, just the two of them under the flickering lights of the common room.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

Hi it's just to let you know that the official romanization of Revaan's name is Raverne ! Also they have romanized Baul's name to Baur !

I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!

someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)

my laptop charger uhhhhhh. met its end in a very permanent, very fire hazardy kind of way last week. while waiting for a replacement I decided to try and get some work done at the library and was asking around for some urban fantasy (extra points for a mystery plot of some kind) recommendations to check out while I was there

the eric carter series was mentioned a couple of times, AND had the added bonus of having a necromancer for a main character. I love necromancers. someday I'm gonna play one in a game instead of immediately defaulting to vampires.

HIFSAMOTUD stands for Hollow Intercession, Falling Space, All Mundane Order Towards Unawakened Discovery (or simply Discovery for short, to refer to it as a whole) which is by all means.... a ridiculously long name! every couple words is meant to represent each of its minds.

originally, it was restricted to travelling a specific distance away from the planet - a taboo that it managed to break, along with rewriting its genomes in such a way that expanded its range of communication. it functions like a massive satellite for iterators on ground, allowing them to send signals to other iterators who would usually be out of their radius.

discovery is unfortunately not as large as a moon, but it's very fun to depict it as a gargantuan, otherworldly being that i think it would be perceived as :) in reality it is just very very curious about everything down below..

A small Qalaari doodle to explore some fits options for when we were "invited" (held hostage) in the manor of a Vampire Lady (who happened to be the grandmother of one of our group member :^)c delicious drama ensued... for multiple sessions...)

I ended up going for the left one as it was closer to Qalaa's comfort zone. The right one was more planned for if we ever managed to get to "the ball scene™ " but sadly we kicked ass too early for that and managed to escape/

(I say escape but we, somehow, managed to kill the elder vampire lady... it was... a difficult fight.)

I will admit I'm a little salty that people, in an effort to prove that there is no good dialogue in Veilguard at all, keep comparing mission exposition to the high point narrative set pieces of prior games. I agree that some of the writing related to plot mechanics and mission exposition in Veilguard is a little too utilitarian, but that doesn't mean none of the dialogue is good or that prior games didn't also sometimes have this issue here and there.

I also generally dislike when people put the bar for good writing — and all writing too, not even just dialogue writing, ALL writing — at mic-drop sentences that still sound good completely divorced from context, because that really just reduces "good writing" down to like fake-deep philosophizing or witty quips exclusively. sometimes, a really good bit of dialogue sounds like a completely normal sentence out of context.
