HEADCANON - AKADEMIYA DARSHAN
When Dottore was a member of the Akademiya, he was a member of the NAGARJUNA Darshan BEFORE it disbanded. (See THIS in reference to his timeline-ish for my portrayal). As canon explicitly states, Nagarjuna Darshan’s motto was “the transmission of knowledge at all costs" and that "conflict is the natural order of Teyvat.” Given Dottore’s intense hunger for knowledge (Withering, Ruin Guards, Aranara, and his expertise in the Akasha Terminals, etc.) it makes since THIS is where he would find his spot most comfortably.
It also contributes to why it is SO HARD to find any information on Zandik, due to the Akademiya trying to erase connections by disbanding that Darshan soon after Zandik left, and now almost never acknowledging the remnants of it. Few people remember the history that the Nagarjunites were once part of the Akademiya and not just a few random followers like they are today. Today they are all but OBSOLETE (unless Genshin decides to expand, but as of now a NPC in Genshin mentions there’s only a few who exist- descendants of past members.)
It is also why Dottore was able to participate both in the exploration of the ruin guards in Devantaka Mountain, the deserts, AND why he was also a part of the MEDICAL research in Apam Woods. Members of the Nagarjuna Darshan sought knowledge in MULTIPLE fields. Dottore primarily focused on Biology/Biochemistry and Technology, but has dabbled in other fields and necessary for the classes.
FURTHERMORE, this ties in well to Sohreh’s note on “the research approach of his (Zandik’s) Darshan” and being rigid. Given the motto of ALL COSTS, Dottore took it quite literally. He would and WILL do anything for the pursuit of knowledge. While the Nagarjuna Darshan DID encourage knowledge at all costs, they meant WITHIN the boundaries of typical morality and perhaps pushing the boundary of morally grey/ethically questionable, but not blatant disregard for it as Zandik was expressing, to the point it even concerned HIS sage. Thus why he became more secretive.
As such, Dottore is NOT surprised when people who know of his past incorrectly try to guess his Darshan. Official records have almost completely been wiped of the Nagarjuna Darshan, or simply DESTROYED/LOST with the passage of time over the centuries.

I constantly think about how charlie only met vaggie 3 years prior to the series, lilith was gone for 7, lucifer had been distant from her for god knows how long, so. she really spent 4 years having no one huh? that's kind of just. really sad. finding vaggie and sheltering her was probably the most constant company she had in a WHILE
I think about how much implied DECADES of history and interconnections there are between the villains that we can explore dynamics set in the past, and then I think about charlie's lack of that and then I get sad. a good chunk of the main cast are characters she only recently met and most of hell's residents don't even respect her so it's hard to imagine who she really HAD before vaggie

Prompt 273
You know what? We need more Good parents Fentons.
And you know what else? Technically, Jack helped Danny defeat Pariah via the use of the Ecto-Skeleton. And like, that’s his son, his baby boy. Sure Danny is and has always been a mommy’s boy, but it doesn’t change that fact. They’re both already feeling horrible about the fact they could have hurt him, they could have hurt their son- they have hurt their son, killed him with their inaction and never again.
So when these oversized jello-eyeballs try to insist that their baby, their precious baby boy, take a crown? Become a king when he’s not even out of highschool, when he doesn’t want it? No. Hell no! That is his Danny-o, his baby boy who was terrified of his own parents!
Which is how Jack, despite technically still being alive even if so-very ecto-contaminated, became the Ghost King.
And for some reason there’s several ghosts rather happy about this- oh, these are his Danny-O’s ghost-parents? Not-ghost parents seeing as some of them have never been anything but a realm denizen? That’s really fascinating- y’know what, want some fudge and we can exchange childcare- Maddie dear come over and meet our co-parents apparently!
Now it’s not all easy, but they’re trying their best, and that’s all that can be asked.
…
Which is perhaps why it’s so exasperating- or as Maddie would put it, downright infuriating- that it is now, almost an entire year and a half later that the Heroes finally arrive to investigate. Well, at least he has plenty of fudge since it’s almost time for the council meeting.
