also we finally got our medical records from all the shit last April and it turns out the doctor that insisted we weren't feverish actually lied about our temperature when he wrote stuff down.

our temperature was 38C. we saw on the thermometer they used that it was 38C. he's noted it down as 36C. he also said we had no systemic symptoms besides nausea and reduced appetite meanwhile everything written by other medical professionals on the same day lists a whole bunch of symptoms.

at least we have confirmation of that which is the main thing we wanted our records for besides getting to see the actual test results and there's stuff on some of the tests that sounds kind of concerning but I don't know enough to know if it's actually concerning and nobody ever mentioned it to us

So! Long time, no see. 2023 was a whole goddamn lot lol

I don't have a demo update to share yet, but that's because I had to scrap nearly everything I managed to write during a very, very, very bad stint of writer's block last year. I hadn't even realized it had been a block like that until I went over my work so far last month and realized it was bad -- like, trust me; a slog to read that didn't even sound like me. It's been extremely frustrating but I've finally broken free of that and it's been easy and actually fun to write again for the first time in actual years. I just hate giving updates that have no actual news in them. And I really had nothing to share other than: I deleted thousands of words and feel so much better now 😅

Anyway, little about my demo plans have changed: I'm still putting out the Chapter 3 demos in Choicescript/on Dashingdon and then will be going dark to move things over to Twine. Where I am in the process right now is... feeling like 35% done with the overhauled version of this chapter and 50% done for the next demo update.

As far as asks, I'm... not really sure what to do?? I believe I've read them all (I love you guys), but so much time has passed since getting most of them that I'm not sure if it's, like... still pertinent??? To go back and answer them?? I suppose some of them like character asks could be, but all the nice messages of support -- that feels weird since I've practically ghosted this blog since August! Idk. Y'all tell me what to do with 'em and I'll do it. Maybe I should make a poll.

So what has occupied my time all this time? Doctor, therapy, money, and friends. And improv! But especially the first two. There was a lot of non-writing related stuff fucking up my ability to focus and write, so hopefully with my mind and body both feeling a lot better, I can get back to being present and active with the game. I didn't realize how physically unwell I was until last year and it's been like... life-long issues I've been treating. It turns out it's not normal to feel exhausted enough to sleep at any given time, at all times, for your whole life! wow!!

I also uninstalled Tumblr from my phone back in February, so you could say I'm sort of generally focused on offline life. (And what an interesting coincidence that my writer's block dissipated shortly after that...) I also just moved!! The last two weekends have been so expensive and stressful -_- But I can't even compare the old place to the new. We're basically paying the same price for idek how much more space. The cats are so happy; which means the house humans get to be happy.

My schedule is finally freed up from constant medical shit (there was a 3-month stretch this winter with multiple doctor appointments literally every fucking week 🙃🙃🙃). My mental health is doing a lot better -- literally incomparably better compared to where I was this time last year. There's live comedy now (which I dabble in, to be clear lol), but I've finally found myself able to like... balance it all. The physical and creative energy that goes into it all, anyway. The lovely thing about improv is that you kinda just show up and do your thing -- it doesn't cut into my writing time so much as it costs energy. Unless I end up in this comedy debate show thing next month, which I am very excited to give up writing time for

I wonder if each episode will start with a confusing scene from the future that will haunt us and drive us crazy 🤡 (I also wonder if 4 Minutes will end with explaining all the plots and threads, because as we know, not everything was in DFF)

I read some theories and I see that the one that is often repeated is that Tyme specifically approached Great to seduce him because he is conducting some secret operation against his family. A few questions:

if he knows this family, it means he knows who Great is (and let's say he recognized his name on the note)

why didn't he approach Great earlier, why didn't he arrange a "random" meeting earlier

why would he approach him and seduce him at all? What good would that do him?

I know that we all live in a BL bubble, but the probability of Tyme seducing Great outside of our bubble is actually pretty small, especially in those circumstances

Tyme would have to base the success of his mission on Great accepting his advances instead of reporting him to the hospital management for inappropriate behavior and maybe even stalking

well, I'm sorry, but even the most handsome doctor standing suggestively between a patient's legs and admitting that he knows their name from a private note wouldn't be able to gain someone's trust, quite the opposite. In reality, Tyme only manages to do this because Great already has visions of him and is intrigued. But please pay attention to Great's body language - if it weren't for these visions, he wouldn't be so "compliant" with the doc

why would Tyme even admit that he knows as much about him as his name and tell him how he found out about it, which was pretty weird. This sounds disturbing and off-putting to any person

if Tyme wanted to get closer to Great, it would be better for him to befriend him, gain his trust as a confidant of his problems, someone who supports him, shows a positive kind of friendship (which is exceptionally easy compared to Great's friends 😬), not to stick out with excessive knowledge about him (and his groin) I absolutely don't deny that Tyme may be conducting his operation against Great's family, it's also possible that seeing Great's name, he decided to get to know him for some of his own reasons. But this meeting is accidental, Tyme may already have some plan going on and by contacting Great right now, he may try to gain something, but he may also jeopardize this plan. Basing all this on Great's unknown sexuality is a game that could end badly for Tyme as a doctor and as a "spy". It's just.... idk. Somehow there is too much coincidence here. At the moment I am leaning towards Tyme being sincerely interested in Great 😉

Tyme is an interesting character in general, and I personally agree with his description here by @biochemjess. Already in ep 1 I was intrigued by the fact that he wants to be a surgeon, which means limiting interpersonal contact. His scenes with patients indicate that he doesn't feel a deeper connection with them and their problems, their pain. I would not be surprised if he chose this profession for a purely economic reason, to become a good surgeon and earn good money and have contact with patients only on the operating table 🤔 I was also intrigued by his reaction to what the nurses say about him.

Of course, this is only episode 2, in DFF all the surprising plot twists appeared later, so now I am writing everything in my clown makeup 🤡

I really like how the characters played by JJay and Fuaiz meet the same way in each universe. Fuaiz stands in the doorway and JJay has an ✨epiphany✨

Undertale Sans - It's fine, but as time passes and you grow closer, that is something that he might regret a little. It's fine, you can still adopt and everything, but bonding with a child inside your womb would have been nice too. He's never saying that to you, however, and especially if it's a touchy subject for you. Sans is always careful to not trigger his S/O and he can perfectly live without children anyway.

Undertale Papyrus - It's ok to not have children of your own (he's not a big fan of making babies anyway) but he would love to adopt some and will try to explain to you with a 520-page PowerPoint why it's a good idea to adopt. He's motivated. Pretty please?

Underswap Sans - That's absolutely not a problem for him. He thinks children kinda hold you back and prevent you from doing fun things together. He likes to take his S/O on adventures and having to renounce to that for a kid would sadden him. He's not exactly a good father figure anyway.

Underswap Papyrus - He's disappointed because Honey really wants children on his own. He doesn't blame you, instead, he tries to find other ways. He knows all monsters can technically bear children so, uh... Why not? That's not something he planned in his life and that's not something a lot of male monsters do so they're not a lot of info on the subject, which is making him anxious. But, uh, luckily, Underswap Undyne is also one of his best friends and the scientist is close enough to a doctor? He knows Alphys would be ecstatic to work on this too. It's just an idea. But you know if you ever want to...

Underfell Sans - He doesn't mind either. Having a baby is scary anyway and he's clearly not ready yet to be a father. Maybe after a few years, you two could talk about adoption, but for now Red is really fine being the only baby in the house. And anyway, if you want to mommy something, there's Edge. He never had a mom so feel free to try. You're not sure about that idea honestly.

Underfell Papyrus - It depends on what you think about this. If you don't mind not having any kids, that's fine for him too. If later in your relationship you feel like adopting or using a third person to make a baby, it's fine too. He can even be convinced to bear the baby, but with a lot of talking because that kinda terrorizes him honestly. Edge is not difficult and adjusts to his S/O.

Horrortale Sans - Well, he is infertile too thanks to what Undyne did to him so... That happened. Oak is fine living like this, but if you even brought up adoption, he would gladly accept too. He loves kids, he's just a little nervous about... You know... His memory problems. He doesn't mind and lets his S/O's choose. He doesn't want to pressure them anyway.

Horrortale Papyrus - He's ok with that. He doesn't know if he's infertile with everything that happened to Underground, and he doesn't trust himself enough to have children for now. He's not sure he will be able to do everything a normal father is supposed to do with his disabilities and it's making him nervous. But after a few years, he's a little more ready to talk about this if you want to adopt. He just needs some reassurance it's going to be fine.

Swapfell Sans - He kinda forgot children were a thing that could happen after a few years of relationship and was very surprised when you said to him you're infertile. Ok? What do you want him to do with this info? Oh. He never thought he could be in love someday, so not having children is absolutely not a problem. If you ever want to adopt, you're going to need to prepare him to the idea for a few months lol.

Swapfell Papyrus - He's not sure what the hell you mean because your soul clearly is, he checked. ... He then realizes you're talking about making a physical baby and feels very stupid. Uh. That's ok though because he can be pregnant sort of? If you want a kid, just ask him and he does it, right? Rus doesn't mind at all carrying a child. He actually already planned to sort of do that for Undyne and Alphys since Alphys is infertile. So, uh, it's just one more baby? Why not? You have to sit. That's a lot of weird info you didn't expect all of the sudden.

Fellswap Gold Sans - He doesn't want children anyway so it's really fine for him. Knowing he doesn't have to expect a surprise baby is actually sort of comforting and he's more relaxed in your relationship. Have you seen him anyway? You think he's a father figure?

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He's fine with it as well. He's not comfortable having children yet and he's too attached to his S/O to give place yet to other members of his family. Maybe later he would be ok to adopt, even though the thought is terrifying him at the moment.

So this is something I think about a lot as I have a fucked up back. Fortunately, I have a really good group of drs so I've been able to go longer and longer without a flair up, but when I'm incapacitated on my couch, thinking of how these guys would react brings me so much comfort.

I think most of the boys would be really understanding and helpful. But let's get into it! HCs below the cut :)

Hunter may be able to sense acutely when you have a bad day before you even notice the symptoms (those heightened senses strike me like the way medical alert dogs can sense a seizure coming on in their human). His first instinct is to hold you against him, but he holds off until he ensures you are in the most comfortable place, your environment is perfect for what you need, and you have any medication needed. Then he'll wrap around you and do what he can to make you feel better. IDK why, but I feel like he'd gently hum a little tune as he holds you, literally trying anything and everything to soothe you. If he can't take away the physical pain, he can make damn sure you feel cared for.

Wrecker is also someone who's gonna try and cuddle you through an episode. If that's something that helps you, you'll be in heaven. He'll literally make a nest for you and bring you all the snacks. If your condition comes with muscle pain, he'll give you the most gentle and soothing massage. He will get that sad look in his eyes, though. Personally, I like seeing my partner care but I know some people don't like to feel pitied so if that's you, you may need to have a conversation with him. Similarly, if physical contact isn't helpful for you, you'll have to let him down gently. Best to give him something else to do - like help with the responsibilities you can't do - because Wrecker really doesn't like feeling as if he can't help.

Tech is going to learn everything about your condition itself. And I mean everything. He'll become the (secret) preeminent expert on your condition if he has to - and he'll very much believe he has to because frankly he doesn't trust previous doctors who told you this was just a condition you'll have to live with. You have to have a few talks with him that his insistence on trying new approaches to "cures" isn't helpful when you're having a flair up, and that while you love the intention behind it, you need him to either help you in the moment or leave it to you. That sobers him up a bit. But he mostly just puts the "cure" search on the backburner and focuses more on finding the optimal remedies for your symptoms in the moment. He won't really cuddle with you unless you expressly ask but he absolutely will bring his datapad into the room and research/work by your bedside so he can monitor your progress. He'll wake you every few hours to give you more medicine and make sure you stay hydrated.

Echo also studies up on your condition, but unlike Tech, he only cares about remedies. He'll run his findings by Tech, but generally trusts the literature regarding mitigating symptoms. If you find something that works better than other remedies, he's a stickler about making sure you have access to that remedy at all times. He's a big believer in being prepared. He may have some small treats for you, but he'd prefer to have nutritionally balanced food for you during a flair up to give your body everything it needs to get through this and recover. He usually doesn't cuddle with you, preferring to give you the space you need to settle in and recover. But he will be touching you constantly - caressing your head or arm - and talking softly with you if you're up for it.

Crosshair doesn't like admitting your condition scares him. You've explained it's not fatal or anything but it does cause you pain on the regular. And he doesn't like how matter of fact you are when you tell him you experience pain strong enough to put you out of commission with enough regularity that you have a plan for what to do when it happens. He knows you're not a complainer and you tend to push yourself, so for something to knock you out means it's serious. He feels useless and weak at not being able to help in what he feels is a meaningful way.

At first, he'll pull away, selfishly hiding from the sight of you in pain because he doesn't want to confront it. But if he does see you struggling or if he hears you in pain/call his name, he'll be right at your side. You need him. You asked for him. He won't leave you alone again. It'll take him a bit to figure out little tricks to helping you/making you feel better, but eventually he'll get into a rhythm. And woe be to anyone who crosses your path if you have a flair up in public - Crosshair is very much a shoot/punch first ask if they were a threat to you (in act or attitude) later.

501st Boys

Jesse, and Fives are going to learn all they can about the best way to make you feel better not through research but literally by quizzing you. They try asking the first time they see you in an acute flair up and realize those questions will have to wait until you're feeling a little better. And by quiz, I mean these guys prove why ARCs are made different. They'll get down into the minute details. The next time you feel your pain coming on, they'll make sure the environment is perfect for you to rest - as dark and quiet as you need, with all the water and snacks you could possibly want. And they'll totally give you snacks you want that'll make you feel better emotionally more than good for you snacks. If they can stay, they'll bring you bring you fresh, cool towels to drape over your forehead or ice packs/heating packs for your muscles every 30 minutes. Both feel like failures when they have to leave you during an episode.

Between the two, Jesse definitely relies on his humor and tries to keep you talking (if it doesn't hurt you more) to get you through this, and you love that he treats you like normal, that there's no pity in his eyes. But for Fives, this is a situation where he actually gets quiet, lowering his energy to give you the space to rest up.

Kix is, like Tech, going to do all the research. Unlike Tech, Kix has access to military-grade medical facilities. And he WILL use them to get a thorough understanding not just of your condition, but how your body handles the condition. He hates to see you in pain, and it's a negotiation with him as to how much medication you want/need as if Kix had his way, he'd just stick you in a bacta tank each flair up to minimize your pain and any damage ... which obviously isn't practical. Also, there's no "Maybe I can push through it, this flair up feels manageable." The moment Kix knows you're feeling symptoms, you're in the medbay. You'll also find the smallest of treats next to your bed when you wake up.

Dogma similarly, tolerates no negotiation. Sure, you've been dealing with your condition for a while, but if you're not following dr.'s or Kix's orders to the letter, he will make you. I feel like Dogma is incredibly passionate and feels deeply, and he will not risk your health or well being, even if you ask him to just trust you. Eventually, you need a mediation with Kix so Dogma gives you a little room to breathe. Like Wrecker, it helps to give Dogma things to do while you have a flair up so he feels like he's helping. He'll bring you everything you need and then go tidy up your living space or do your paperwork on your behalf or just general errands you need to run. Acts of service is his love language anyway, so this is a system that works really well for you both.

Rex hates that he can't always be with you during a flair up. He literally has a list of people you can call (in order of those he trusts the most to take care of you) if you need assistance. But you've come up with a code to message to his datapad in case he can't be there. If he gets your message, he'll excuse himself as quickly as possible to call you and just talk you through the worst of your flair up and ask if you need someone to be with you.

If he can be there, you won't find a more attentive and gentle person to nurse you through. He'll make sure you're settled and have everything you need and he'll talk you through it until you fall asleep. Then, he'll straighten up your living space and make some food for you for when you wake up. When you do, he'll give you a small portion to start with and hold you against him when you're done.

Tup will run you the most perfect bath ever. Water at the perfect temperature, no harsh smells in case that makes things worse. He helps you get settled then starts helping you wash. And by helping I mean he refuses to let you do anything for yourself. Getting your hair washed by Tup is a spiritual experience and something that, even if your pain persists, reenergizes your soul. He'll dry you gently with the fluffiest towels and then settles you in your room with all your comforts. He's another who will sit by your side until you feel better and he'll cuddle on request if it won't hurt you more.

Thoughts on the Arcana prologue

Well I absolutely love the art style, but it need more cut scenes...Also, when we're at the dining room in the Palace.....Why the Habanera is playing ? Why this exact theme? For me it sounds nothing like royal, maybe a but anxious, but I still have 0 ideas Why they chose this music for the palace. It sounds frivolous and bohemian, plus in Carmen it's sung by..fabric workers, no royal themes lol. So when I hear this at Nadia's place I'm like...Eh.?? Maybe for the creators this music sounds kinda arrogant? That's why you chose it?.. or simply liked if, bit for me I have no clue. Weird choice tbh (why not the variations on the dance of the Knights by Prokofiev then?.. at least it's more "royal")

Characters. Asra. Man is always going somewhere we don't know about, we're ruling the shop, we're still his student but he doesn't really care about us and um ahahahah I'd never chose his route for romance, only for the plot. He seems very shady, I still don't know what is he and how the MC and Asra met, and he has some weird relationships with Julian ig?.. He's pretty mysterious but as sneaky as the snake. No bad words abt Faust btw, Faust is fine.

Then we meet Nadia. Oh she looks just like the dream the prettiest girl I've ever seen but I also was so concerned that the countess herself visited our shop like that... Tbh I also have 0 trust to her, just like to Asra, but if Asra is sneaky, this woman is a politician. Lololol. Sorry. And when the story started saying that Lucio was dead...I was like "hm could it be you?.. A smart woman who made a perfect usurpation? No? Okay." But from what I've heard she's considered to be "understanding" and "empathic". Fine

Ensuite, we have Portia. I...liked that she is simple to approach and simple to escape. Idk I'm not interested in her, tbh. Guess I'll do her route after other characters' stories. She's like... she seems a very sidekick function to the MC. Nothing but a companion for Nadia and sometimes (?) Julian. She looks like she's from Greece with that hair. She like fine but boring...Idk

Who was next?.. Muriel?.. I don't know. So gives off massive Beowolf vibes by his appearance. But he's also looks like the hottest from all the gang. I'm intrigued of his chains and ghostly (idk why but he looks like a vision, like a ghost, like also something very mysterious thing) vibe, and judging by his appearance and behavior he's someone's slave maybe?.. Or he's like a gladiator, like a slave fighter. Idk, but I liked his image

Julian. Well, guess I found the reason why people play this game ahagsh. The silly-horny-dramatic-bittersweet guy who's a doctor so he's empathic and kind, buy he had some troubles with Count's case, like... a good criminal? I'm still not sure since now I'm saving up coins to buy the book and to read his route like that. I just like him. UNIT, self-preservation, and the Doctor

so UNIT is sus, right, we know this, they're getting too powerful for their own good and I feel like everyone is expecting them to get infiltrated or corrupted or something for a season finale plot twist in the near future. but lately I've been thinking about the weird and impossible position they're in.

so! you're in charge of the planet's main (only? idk what torchwood is up to these days) line of defense against alien attack, and your species has been adopted by a sort of alien trickster god.

this eccentric, erratic alien with apparently godlike power has decided to attach themself to you. The Doctor is benevolent and willing to sacrifice almost anything up to and including their own life for the good of the human race, but they're also unpredictable, unreliable, egotistical. you know what happened the last time a human authority crossed a moral line they decided was unforgivable:

so your organization is technically independent, but there are certain decisions you can't make, otherwise the Doctor might decide the weeds need trimming. you're in theory the highest military authority when it comes to alien conflicts, but if you decide to shoot those guys attacking you with your giant ray gun, there's every chance this guy could crawl out of the woodwork to burn your house down. you can't take any action without also taking the Doctor into consideration.

so what do you do?

maybe when they show up, you take them under your power. they're humanity's strongest asset and you need to make sure you have at least some measure of control over their actions.

but now that you've got them, how do you keep them from wandering off on a whim? how do you keep them inclined to work with you?

you formally grant them the power that is de facto already theirs. you rely on them, blatantly and obviously, making it clear that you need their help and their presence to have any hope of survival. you flatter their ego and encourage their attachment to you.

but in the end, it's been proven that nothing will keep the Doctor anywhere they don't want to be, and nothing will stay their hand when they've decided something needs to be destroyed for the greater good. so how do you make sure your organization stays on the safe side of that line? how do you sway the Doctor's judgment?

you employ their weak spot.

the people the your alien protector trusts, loves, has chosen, you bring them into the fold, and so you bring yourself into their fold. the Doctor can't attack you without attacking them, and their trust will rub off on you and your organization. you find what they value most in the world and keep it close.

so you end up with this defense organization which is semi-independent, but also built up totally around this one individual.

the Doctor is the most passionate defender you could hope for, but they also cut off your own ability to defend yourself. a good amount of your defense protocols center around hoping this guy happens to turn up. you HAVE to rely on their support, and you also have to fawn, flatter, and appease them if you want your organization to go on existing. if you want to get away with anything they might seriously disapprove of, your only option is to dazzle and flatter them, collect their friends, and hope they won't look close enough to find your secrets.

I'm not saying Kate Lethbridge-Stewart is some kind of Machiavelli spending all her time finding ways to manipulate the Doctor. but I am saying that UNIT probably has a protocol somewhere saying that in times of absolute crisis, if the Doctor shows up, the first thing you should do is dangle candy in front of their face by means of having someone they like give them a great big hug.

My heart has been doing Bad Things since last night (or, I suppose, technically early this morning), and I'm not sure if it's call the doctor worthy or just something that will go away, or maybe the "uncomfortably aware of heartbeat" side effect that can happen with the propranolol I take for migraine prevention. That last one seems unlikely, though, since I've been on the same dose for several months and I've never had that reaction in the year I've been taking it. I don't even really know what's happening, just that it intermittently (especially when I'm lying down) feels like my heart's going to beat out of my chest: it's fast, but maybe more alarmingly to me, it just feels very intense, like it's beating too hard even when the pace doesn't feel too atypical. I get panicky trying to take my own pulse, but the app I used to use regularly says it's currently 96 bpm, which idk if I should trust but that does seem fast for a resting heart rate. (Not to mention, when I was using this before to keep track of effects from my ob-gyn's reverse T3 experiment, it quite accurately pegged me with a pretty low heart rate - although that was with a different phone camera, so idk.) Can lack of sleep cause temporary heart weirdness? I didn't go to sleep till 5am, but to be fair, I also didn't get up till almost 10 for second service, and I really haven't been tired today at all. Haven't had any caffeine either; I drank at the Christmas in July party last night, but responsibly, and alcohol would presumably have the opposite effect anyway. I guess if it gets to 24 hours (so I wake up with this still tomorrow), I'll call my doctor, or at least my mother to ask if she thinks I should call my doctor.

I feel like someone mentions something to him along the way about high school dropouts and he's like "wait I don't actually have to be here?" And proceeds to immediately start the paperwork to get outta there before he even considered maybe he should tell black canary or red tornado or, hell, M'Gaan about it. Man has no interest in high school, or university, and has most of Wikipedia in his brain.

Everyone else, though, I feel they graduated.

Dick practically had to be dragged kicking and screaming because by the time he's getting to senior year he's just done with it all and has no intention of going to study business or whatever the fuck all the Gotham socialites think he'll do. Inherit WE? Disgusting. Never. He doesn't even want the trust fund Bruce has for him lmao.

Artemis mostly sticks around because Dick is there, and so is Babs, and Wally is set on college. Like she's neither here or there on college, but Wally is set on it, and she doesn't hate the idea of living and studying together in Keystone City (as they are in season two). So she sticks around, does the work, graduates. I honestly think Dick probably graduated early because he wants to get this shit done, so he and Artemis would be graduating together. Wally is definitely there for that. M'Gaan would definitely be there as well, and Zatanna as well. Idk when M'Gaan and Conner canonically break up, but if they were still together at that point in time she'd get Conner to come along.

Artemis and Dick definitely go for Wally's grad. I think M'Gaan would want to go but Wally would say he'd prefer she didn't. He's gonna have his family there, and his school buddies, and he's gonna be so busy already he knows he won't get time to hang out with M'Gaan and Conner and Zatanna and Raquel. He tells them they'll all hang out or smth afterward, or on the weekend, but not to bother day of.

M'Gaan would invite everyone to her graduation. Conner would definitely go, planning to do so before she even asks, because he knows the other people graduating with her and has kept up with them, so it's a package deal scenario. I think everyone would go because like. it's M'Gaan. you can't not.

I think Kaldur goes to everyone's graduation, except M'Gaan cause she's like 'maybe don't'. it's weird for him cause he's not a student, and as much as Atlantians do have schooling and everything, surface peeps probably have different customs to what he's used to.

I feel like Zatanna also doesn't bother to graduate. she's going through a lot, having lost her father to Doctor Fate, and like. the girl isn't interested in going to college, not really. she's a magic user, and that tends to chew up all your time. but she definitely goes to graduations and cheers people on.

I'm honestly not sure what Raquel's vibe is. I don't even know if she's in school. cause like, Icon isn't an alien I don't think but he's usually off world? I think? like I feel like Raquel is kinda always busy and often leaving the planet. she's also one of the members of the team who actually joined the league as soon as possible, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was because she took the time to dedicate herself to hero work and didn't have a huge interest in typical high school. But she'd go along for graduations if she wasn't busy.

So my neurologist actually did something right for once and gave me some ambien to help me sleep while I'm on the steroid pack since I already have insomnia and steroids make it WAY worse, and I was really excited because this is legit what I've been wanting a doctor to do for like over a year now...but it didn't really help me sleep, at least not as well as the weed does.

I could possibly just need a higher dose(I am known to be very resistant to these sorts of meds, it takes like twice the normal dose of propofol to put me under) or maybe the steroid is just so powerful the meds can't make a dent in it(which I'd believe since I'm really sensitive to steroids and the weed ALSO doesn't help me sleep as well when I'm on them), and also it's really hot and humid right now which makes it hard to sleep in general AND I just got my bc implant put in which is making it hard to sleep since I have to be careful with my left arm and I like NEED to be able to switch what side I sleep on cuz my shitty arthritic joints don't like staying in one position for too long...but this is a bit of a let down ngl. I was really excited to be able to sleep and then maybe use this as proof that I can be trusted with sleep medication and I could finally stop having to spend damn near $100 on weed gummies every month and a half just to Sleep At All but like...hnnnn.....

Idk, when I see my primary I'm going to beg her to send me to a sleep specialist again bcs the weed is NOT sustainable it's already expensive and on top of that I am absolutely building up a tolerance which means I have to take more to sleep and thus spend more money and it's so fucking annoying. I've already made a lot of progress in the trauma department too and that hasn't really helped me sleep better which leads me to believe this is def a result of one of my other medical issues, I def think a sleep specialist is the best bet rn.

The plus side tho is she gave me 15 ambien and I only have three days of the steroids left, and my arm should be healed better in the next couple of days, so I should have a chance to test the ambien without the dual whammy of the arm pain and steroids wrecking my system, and if even that fails well that's a 15 day T break for the weed which honestly I really do need so like there's that.

Also since I have a bunch of new followers quick FAQ/rundown before anyone gives advice:

I have bipolar disorder type II and adhd and severe chronic pain from fibromyalgia, arthritis, and hEDS. The adderall for my adhd isn't the problem, I actually sleep WAY worse without it. I don't drink that many caffeinated beverages and I especially don't drink them basically at all when I'm on steroids so that's not it either. At least a little of my insomnia is due to trauma and not having a dog currently, but I can't adopt another one right now for numerous reasons, and EMDR has helped the trauma nightmares/anxiety let up quite a lot but that hasn't helped me sleep. I can't take CBD it makes my brain feel like I'm hooked up to a car battery. I also can't smoke bcs asthma so unfortunately I am stuck buying edibles which are very expensive. Insomnia isn't on the medical marijuana criteria in my state so I can't even make it cheaper that way. Melatonin does nothing. Benadryl also does nothing. Exercising before bed also does nothing. I can't do yoga(hEDS) or meditate(adhd). Cutting down on screen time before bed doesn't help and I already spend as little time in my bedroom as possible during the day so my brain keeps associating being in there with sleeping. Listening to music/a podcast doesn't help. Sleepy teas and nice baths and all that before bed doesn't help. I have a weighted blanket which does help a little, but sucks bcs it traps heat like a motherfucker, but I'd sleep worse without it so yeah. Also I can't make my house any cooler/less humid because I'm renting and it's old and shitty and doesn't have real air conditioning and the little portable ac unit + dehumidifier is trying but like...it's not enough I'm still hot and sweaty all night.

I am on hydroxyzine and nortryptraline and they don't make me even a little tired. I cannot take SSRIs or SNRIs on account of the bipolar and the fact that I'm just really sensitive to stuff that messes with my serotonin, even when I'm on a mood stabilizer, and the only med that I can stand that does serotonin stuff is the nortryptraline and it's also the only thing that helps my pain so switching it to something else isn't an option. I build up a resistance to seroquel really fast which makes my insomnia infinitely worse in the long run so I don't see the point in taking it. I have tried basically everything my psychiatrist can think to give me outside of narcotics, which led to her straight up telling me to my face she just can't help me before clarifying that apparently narcotics are somehow worse for me than not sleeping so she won't prescribe them even if they might help. I don't snore or wake up gasping for air so I know I don't have COPD or sleep apnea.

Literally the only thing that has ever made sleeping easy is weed(and opioids but those don't help my pain and have so many hoops to jump through so I don't wanna take them anymore), specifically indica with CBN, but it has to have THC in it I've tried pure CBN + CBD gummies and they don't make me tired they just make me feel weird 'cuz of the CBD.

So yeah. I am up shit creek without a paddle and I really quite desperately need to see a sleep specialist. I appreciate advice but like believe me, I've tried just about everything I can think of and none of it helps. I just naturally have really bad insomnia. And it sucks.

I don't usually make posts that are just me randomly shouting into the void— I like putting effort and structure into my posts as much as I can— but I just got the biggest urge to gush about Junia (my lil Rainbow Parrotfish baby~)

I LOVE what Junia adds to the dynamic of Octavinelle and, by extension, the Octatrio

Idk how I did it but I just think it works so well

She's different from them in that she will actually be kind to anyone and just wants people to get along (she hates it when people get hurt) but she's still just…such a weirdo (affectionate) in a way I think matches perfectly with the other three. She's a misfit, just like them.

She's just very open and honest as opposed to secretive like Azul, Jade and Floyd. Which I think is also really refreshing to have to contrast them!

And she also has a very clear reason for being there, and a defined role in the business. She's the metaphorical light at the end of thr anglerfish's lure— a friendly, charming face who not only entertains the regular guest as Mostro Lounge as the Lounge Singer, but also makes people lower their guards and make them less wary, maybe even start to reconsider making a deal with Azul. (something something, Urusla's Nautilus necklace is meant to make her prettier and people view her more positively but she ends up drawing Ariel's voice into it and trapping it)

Not to mention she's a great advertiser. She is, just objectively speaking, very pretty, and quite charming, too. And, though I don't tend to really emphasize it a lot, I feel like she'd be really popular at NRC due to the above mention facts, plus the fact she's one of the very few girls at an otherwise all-boys' school.

Like, you cannot convince me that straight teenaged boys (of which there are many at NRC, I'm sure) surrounded by almost only other teenaged boys wouldn't be at least a little bit interested in a friendly, pretty older girl (she's 2-3 years older than the rest of her year) who sings good while wearing a pretty dress.

And as for just her friendships with the other three—

She, just like Azul, was bullied as a child, in her case because of her severe dyslexia and inability to learn to read.

I also feel like when she sees the picture of child Azul she'd instantly just go 🥺🥺🥺🥺 "You were so adorable! You looked like you would have given great hugs!"

With Jade— they infodump about special interest stuff to each other. They both have interests that are seen as 'weird' (Jade his mushrooms and Junia her macabre, bizarre and sometimes pretty violent stories and songs)

And I feel like she's definitely the one who's had to patch up Floyd after he's gotten hurt in fights the most, leading to her realizing that she actually really likes patching people up like that, also leading to her starting to wonder if she might like to be a doctor of some sort in the future.

And she's just the 'mother hen' of the group in general, telling all three of them off for either working too much or— in Floyd's case mostly— doing dangerous things that could end with them getting hurt.

Oh, and during breaks, where they stay behind at school, I can definitely see her trying to cook for as many people staying in Octavinelle as she can. Just because she likes taking care of people in ways like that. The only one who TRULY lives up to Octavinelle's 'generous' spirit without expecting anything in return.

And people tend to underestimate Junia a lot, and due to how controlling her mother was she's just used to letting people decide things for her— idk why but I'm just imagining Floyd speaking up for her saying something like "Uh, she can decide for herself, you know?"

And like, Azul complimenting her on her cooking, and Jade saying she's great at getting people to trust her—

She deserves to have people who see and appreciate and like her for who she is instead of just seeing all the things that make her 'weird' or that she 'lacks' ��😭😭😭😭

I was wondering what you thought of the dynamic between Yasmin and the Master. For me they had better chemistry than the Master and the Doctor. Sorry if you've talked about this already.

I think they had the potential for an interesting dynamic, but I'm still not really sure what the show was going for with them? I mean, Yaz pretty clearly just straight up hates him. Fairly normal Master/companion dynamic there. Meanwhile he seems to have some kind of interest in Yaz, at least with messing with her, but I'm not sure why and I'm still confused by the whole "stick with me, Yaz" part at the end of Spyfall 1, because he says this just before leaving her to die. (And he's completely disinterested in her at the end of Spyfall 2 when she begins to be affected by the Kasaavin energy, treating all three of the companions as equally disposable.)

I was curious when the Power of the Doctor trailer came out and it seemed like they might finally do something with the two of them, but that also ultimately didn't amount to much. So I don't really know what to make of their dynamic.

Personally, I would've liked to see him sow some kind of conflict between her and the Doctor, perhaps by presenting himself as very open and approachable compared to how closed off Thirteen is, and trying to sway Yaz to his side that way. Especially if Thirteen continues to be unwilling to share important information with Yaz, Yaz might start to wonder which of them she can trust. Maybe instead of the silly thing about making the Doctor regenerate into him, which I don't really see the point of, the Master could instead try to steal away everything the Doctor has more slowly and more subtly, starting with her companions. Idk, I'm just always down for companions having a more complex dynamic with the Master than simple antagonism.
