Btw since I see a lot of ppl enjoy Gortash being a smoker, here's a bit info regarding cigars and cigarettes and smoking them:

They smell vastly different. Cigarette smoke, esp stale, rly smells burnt, kinda like charcoal, it's quite strong too and generally unpleasant esp to non smokers

Cigars on the other hand are kind of sweet, woody, earthy. They rly smell like tobacco. You can smell them from pretty far away if they're actively being smoked rn.

Cigar smoke is not inhaled. You suck on it and leave it in your mouth before blowing it out. If you attempt to truly inhale the smoke of a cigar, you may even get nauseous

Before smoking a cigar you'd usually warm up the tobacco at the tip, a cigarette you simply light and inhale. Some may hit the cigarette against a surface to get rid of loose tobacco or clean the filter before putting it in their mouth.

People often inhale the smoke of a cigarette directly, though some may suck the smoke and inhale it shortly after it stays in their mouth for a while. Eitherway, you inhale it into ur lungs.

Concentrated cigarette smoke (at least from the filter free end) stings in the eyes

Cigars don't have a filter and are way bigger

Smoking a cigar takes long. If you don't suck on it regularly it'll simply go out and you'll have to light it again. A cigarette will burn until there's no tobacco left, that usually takes only a few minutes

A cigar needs to be cut properly before you can smoke it

When you're done with a cigarette its the proper thing to extinguish it. Otherwise, or if not properly extinguished, it may keep burning (the filter may catch on fire too which smells horrible)

Some people consider it a lucky ritual to turn one cigarette in the pack upside down as soon as they open it

Smokers will often generously offer and lend a lighter if they see you struggle

Friends may offer to light your cigarette for you or help you lighting it by covering for the wind

Smoking frequently will stain your fingers and nails yellowish orange, your teeth too may turn more yellow

Smoke lingers in your clothes and environment esp if you smoke inside. Anything white exposed to it over a longer period of time will get dirty yellowish stains

Also when smoking cigarettes a lot of people don't inhale 'the first suck'. They just blow it out immediately

Ash gets everywhere. Simply by lifting whatever you are smoking from the ashtray or to it, ash will scatter

Cigarettes sometimes make a crackling sound even when you're not sucking on them as they continously burn

With cigarettes, if you use a box that hasn't just been opened, there's a great chance some loose tobacco will spill or it may even end up in your mouth if you don't inspect the filter prior to smoking

It's quite common for smokers to be peculiar about the blend/brand they're using and refusing other brands or blends

There are regular-sized and long cigarettes. The longer ones are often also smaller in diameter

Cigarette holders need to be cleaned regularly to get rid of the residues

Cigars are often enjoyed alongside a drink, they may even enhance the flavour

Sometimes the burning part of a cigarette will come of if you flip it too hard or if you're not careful removing the ash. You'll have to light it again in that case

If a cigarette doesn't light evenly it's considered bad luck and the person lighting it may get teased

Overall; cigars are something long, calm, something to be experienced. You need to prepare, make sure it doesn't go out etc. It forces you to sit down and calm down and, as such, is often enjoyed alongside conversations and a drink.

Cigarettes on the other hand are small and fast. It's the quick smoke for in-between. They taste quite bitter, leave a bitter aftertaste and their smoke stings unlike the sweet cigars. It's something hasty, but it can also be used to quickly excuse yourself from a venue and do conversation where your comfortable somewhere outside.

Also, there are a bunch of rituals and gestures around smoking. After all, it's been around nearly as long as people have been.

Every couple years or so, the Bats are required to take a group photo to update the JL website (idk why, they are required to take a vigilante group picture), and Jason consistently refuses to show up. IDK y'all I just think Okami portrays a very interesting mutual relationship between the gods of its world and the people who believe in them. It's all but outright said that a god is only as strong as the worship it receives, and when the people's belief in the gods starts to wane, they start growing weaker. It's even reflected in the mechanics: the resource you use to make your health/ink/etc stronger is praise. When you arrive in mortal Nippon, worship is at a low, and you are nowhere near the glory you used to be, and only through spending the Praise you get along the way do you start to actually level up and feel like the god you're meant to be.

But it's not all on the people to be worshipping the gods. The relationship is mutual: when people feel the gods don't show themselves in things not 'big enough' to warrant their presence, they start regulating them to things of fairy tale and legend, only praying to them in times of strife and when they're 'needed', and not often in between. And sure, the main quests give you enough praise to get you up from ground zero and get you over the proverbial finish line. But the only way you can max out your stats--reach that level of godhood you know you can be-- is to put in the effort to do some of the sidequests too.

Errands as nothing more than that Weird Dog running around town. Blooming trees and plants with no one around to watch you. Hell, even feeding animals that don't once speak back in your tongue. Praise no one is giving you because a favor was asked first. Praise out of gratitude for making the world just a little bit better, even when it's outside of what's expected from a god of your station.

If you find ways to show that you love the world you look after, the world will show that it loves you back.

And that is what makes you truly powerful.
