Note
incredible confidence for someone who hasn't read umineko. interested to see if you'll need to change your chart later.
believe me i am not at all confident in this chart lmfao. my only conviction making it is "could they make it through a murder mystery" paired with how they performed during the homestuck epilogues (i am still operating under the assumption that there's going to be a big metafictional twist at some point in umineko and thus my epilogues comparisons can keep me going a little longer; if there is no "but you already knew that, right?" moment in this story i will enter an analytical flop era so severe i will not recover).

Mattheo Riddle x fem reader
Summary: Mattheo Riddle has always known everything about everyone—except his own feelings. When a playful conversation turns into an unexpected confession, Mattheo realises he might like you more than just as a friend.
w/c: 1287
a/n: send in requests pls I have no clue what to write about
To no one's surprise, Mattheo knows almost everything.
For example, he knows that he's your best friend.
He knows that you prefer studying by the Black Lake rather than in the library, that you secretly adore Herbology even though you complain about the dirt, and that you like sneaking out after curfew just to wander the castle halls at night. He also knows that Pansy has been in a better mood since Draco complimented her new potion-brewed perfume, and that Theo's been practicing his wandwork more than usual because he's been trying to impress a certain Ravenclaw in Charms class.
Simply put, Mattheo knows everything about everyone.
"And then what did she do?" He leans back against the stone bench, casually tossing a stray pebble into the lake, watching as the water ripples outward.
"We just talked afterward," you shrug, watching as a pair of first years try to coax the Giant Squid to the surface. "It was nice catching up with her; it's been a while."
"I bet. She's a nightmare," Mattheo chuckles, popping a chocolate frog into his mouth as he speaks. He chews thoughtfully for a moment before glancing over at you with a playful glint in his eyes.
"Oh!" Your eyes brighten as you recall something, turning to face him.
You can't help but burst into laughter when you see his face, but you quickly compose yourself, keeping your smile in check. "She also said the funniest thing—she said that she thought you had feelings for me!"
His eyes widen in surprise, his jaw dropping ever so slightly. "That's ridiculous."
"I know, right?" You snicker, adjusting your scarf as a cold breeze sweeps across the grounds. He joins you in laughter, the idea of liking you as more than a friend clearly absurd to him.
"Hahaha!"
"Hahaha!"
But as your laughter dies down, his smile falters.
"Theo, what do I do?!"
His roommate sits at a desk in the Slytherin common room, poring over a detailed Quidditch strategy diagram. His brows are furrowed in concentration as he plans out moves for the upcoming match against Gryffindor.
"Just tell her."
"I’ll hex you into next week."
"If it’s between you being a miserable pain in my arse and getting hexed, I’ll take the hex, mate," Theo mutters, not bothering to look up from his plans.
Mattheo raises an eyebrow. "Why are you so sure you’re going to get hexed?"
"Because I’m associated with you," Theo replies dryly, finally glancing up from his Quidditch strategy with a smirk. "Help me out first, and then curse me later. C'mon, don't be stingy."
"I literally already gave you advice, just tell her how you feel."
"One small problem with that."
"What now?"
"I—" Mattheo opens and closes his mouth, struggling to find the right words. He eventually settles on giving Theo an innocent smile. "Well, I actually don't know if I like her like that? It was an in-the-moment realization kind of thing, but now I'm just confused—"
Theo lets out an exasperated sigh, tossing his quill aside and turning fully to face Mattheo. "Are you serious?" He glares at Mattheo, disbelief etched across his face. "She can’t even brew a simple potion without asking for your help, and you’re practically useless in class if you can’t sit next to her! You two have the most ridiculous relationship I’ve ever seen!"
Mattheo crosses his arms, frowning. Theo sighs again, rubbing his temples. "...Respectfully, of course."
"Talk rubbish about her again and I'll jinx you into a toad. I'm serious."
"That’s literally my point."
"That doesn’t mean you get to be mean! Take it back!"
Theo bites back a retort, narrowing his eyes at his friend. "For someone who’s so observant," he says slowly, "you know nothing."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Mattheo’s eyes narrow, suddenly on the defensive.
"Well," Theo shrugs nonchalantly, "I’ve noticed that Comrac McLaggen has been showing a lot of interest in her lately. He might even confess soon, who knows? Maybe even today."
Mattheo stares at Theo, completely stunned by the revelation. His mind races as he processes his friend’s words; Theo can practically see the exact moment the realization dawns on him. Like a flash, Mattheo jumps to his feet.
"Theo, I’ve got to go! Good luck with the Quidditch match!"
"Gryffindor's not going to know what hit them."
But before he can finish, Mattheo is already out the door.
The key to your dorm unlocks itself, and right on time, Mattheo bursts through the door, slightly out of breath, his hair messier than usual from the wind.
"What’s this—?" You barely get the words out before Mattheo grabs your shoulders, his eyes wide as he searches yours for a moment before blurting out, "I like you."
You blink, taken aback by his sudden confession, but he doesn’t give you time to respond before he continues.
"I was going back and forth with Theo, and honestly, he messed with my head a bit, but I’ve come to a decision, and I know I like you. So don’t even think about dating Comrac, he’s a decent bloke and all, but he’s not right for you. And besides, if you dated him, you'd have to deal with his mates, and that sounds like a nightmare."
You knew who Comrac was, but you stay silent to let him continue speaking. Mattheo was always the more talkative one between the two of you (he’s also the one with the warmer smile, which is funny because his hands feel like ice against your sweater).
His hands move from your shoulders to your arms, and he swallows nervously. "I’m usually not this anxious around you, y'know," he admits, words tumbling out in a rush, "normally I feel at ease talking to you, but right now I feel like I’m going to pass out."
"Did you run here from the common room?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, Mattheo!" You soften instantly, placing your hand on his cheek. He leans into your touch, his eyes closing briefly as he sighs in relief. You frown at his recklessness, "You know how much running through the castle exhausts you. Why didn’t you just use the Floo network?"
"I just really wanted to see you." He pouts, opening his eyes to look at you with a vulnerability that makes your heart melt. "Like I said, Theo really messed with my head."
"I’m going to jinx him."
"Please do."
"And Mattheo?"
"Hm?"
It’s really sweet, actually—how he’s forgotten about his whole reason for coming here. But you can’t blame him too much; he’s just dashed through half the castle after battling his own nerves, and every hero deserves a reward for their courage. Especially Mattheo, who more than deserves a happy ending, and you couldn’t be more thrilled to give one to him.
"I like you too, by the way. Theo may be a little meddlesome, but he’s got great intuition; I was actually about to head to your dorm to tell you."
He gasps. "But running exhausts you!"
You smile sheepishly. "I guess I just really wanted to see you."
His jaw drops for the tenth time that day, and he pulls you into a tight hug, burying his head into your neck, murmuring against your shoulder. "I love you, I love you, I love—"
"I love you too." You smile because you do love him. He’s been your best friend since first year, your partner in crime through every adventure, the boy you admired before you even understood what admiration was. "Since you’re here, want to watch a movie? I’ve got that Muggle DVD player you’re always curious about."
"Absolutely!"
As he hums to himself, cutting up some Honeydukes sweets for your impromptu movie session.

SHE - L.E
SUMMARY: Through the years (Y/N) has fallen in love with Lily Evans while she falls for James Potter.
PAIRING: Lily Evans x femSlytherin!reader.
WORD COUNT: 1.7k
WARNINGS: Angst with a sad ending. OOC Severus Snape. Mention of death. I cried while writing this so beware.
youtube
✧✧✧
Am I allowed to look at her like that?
Could it be wrong when she's just so nice to look at?
Lily was laying face down in your bed, she wore a long T-shirt that barely covered her thighs, while you changed your outfit. You tried not to look out of respect, however you couldn't help but worry for your sanity. After all, being in love with your best friend meant having to endure looking at her without being able to touch her or kiss her.
If someone asked you when you realized you were completely smitten with the redhead at your side, you would answer in a heartbeat. Fourth year, Slytherin had won the Quidditch cup after a rough game against Gryffindor. All her housemates were booing and yelling, but not Lils, she ran to the other side of the pitch and tackled me in a bear hug.
“What do you think?” You asked her. Lily dropped her magazine on the bed and turned to look at you, her bright green eyes roaming your body as she examined the lime green dress you wore for your friends date.
“Gosh (Y/N) You're such a babe.” You knew she meant it, but not in the way you would've liked. Still you smiled brightly at her. But deep inside you, you longed for the day when those words were more than just friendly, when Lily Evans looked at you with the same adoration and love that you had for her.
And she smells like lemongrass and sleep
She tastes like apple juice and peach
You would find her in a polaroid picture
And she means everything to me
Lily Evans always carried around that peach flavored chapstick everywhere. It was her thing, her perfume was a green apple scent that you gifted her for her birthday, you didn’t know, but she wore it everyday. It made her feel closer to you, her best friend.
You on the other hand were never seen without that muggle camera, your mother had given it to you and you carried it everywhere, most of the polaroids you took were of the daily Hogwarts life, studying at the library, hanging at the Three broomsticks, spending time with Severus and Lily.
The picture you cherished the most however, was a polaroid of the Gryffindor redhead, Lily appeared smiling at the camera, her head tilted a little bit to the right, her hair loose while her eyes were closed, the sunlight couldn’t have been more perfect because it captured her essence brightly.
“Are you ever going to tell her?” Severus asked, clearly annoyed at your lack of bravery and Lily’s obliviousness. You looked at the other side of the great hall, Potter was talking to her happily while Lily rolled her eyes, but you could see the smile that creeped on her lip.
“Let it go, Sev. You and I both know it would only end badly.”
I'd never tell
No I'd never say a word
And oh it aches
But it feels oddly good to hurt
“Merlin, When is he going to give up?” You said, your tone clearly showing how annoyed you were at James Potter, maybe it was the fact that he could express how he felt without the fear of judgment, of losing Lily because he never really had her. But then again, you didn’t have her either.
“I don't know, but he's getting less insufferable. Don't you think so?” You rolled your eyes, Lily was caught off guard by this, you were never one to act that way. If only she knew just how badly you wanted to tell her, show her how you truly felt.
“Are you alright, (Y/N)?” She asked, completely oblivious to the bad feeling that settled into your chest, you got a hold of your books and abruptly stood up. “I’m perfectly fine, I just remembered I have to go and ask professor McGonagall something about that essay.”
With that, you left the library, the tears that rolled down your cheeks went unnoticed by Lily, but not by a certain glass wearer Gryffindor that had been watching you from afar.
She smells like lemongrass and sleep
She tastes like apple juice and peach
You would find her in a polaroid picture
And she means everything to me
You loved to spend your nights on the Slytherin common room, especially when it was cold, you were wrapped around a warm blanket, laying on the love seat while the fire of the chimney brought you comfort, the book in your hand that narrated the love story of two naive teenagers spoke to you.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, (Y/N)?”
“Huh?” You raised your head from your book to look at Lily, she stormed into the empty common room, something she did since both you and Severus were Slytherins and you used to sneak her in. She was just back from her first ever date with James Potter, a few weeks ago she had asked for your opinion on her outfit, and ever since then, you both were drifting apart.
“I asked what on earth is going on with you lately? You haven't spoken to me in three days, you act distant, and all of a sudden James tells me that he thinks you're in love with me!”
You noticed the tears that rolled down your cheeks, your heart was beating so rapidly that you believed it would get tired and stop. “Would it be so bad if I was?” Your voice sounded so vulnerable, broken.
She stood there, just looking at you with her mouth parted, at a loss for words. “Wh-what?”
“You stood from your seat, fully facing Lily, her fiery red hair matched the fire that you felt at the pit of your stomach. “Would you be so disgusted by me if I told you that I love you? That I have fallen for a girl who happens to be my best friend?”
“ (Y/N) I-'' She tried to carry on but you continued talking, getting closer and closer to the girl you loved. “That the reason why I needed space was because i can't stand the thought of you and James Potter because that should be me and-”
This time, it was her who took the next step, Lily got a hold of your shirt and pulled you towards her, the movement so sudden you would have fallen if it wasn't for the pair of hands that held you by the waist.
All your life, you dreamed for the moment your lips met, and now that it was happening, your mind couldn't think about anything but her. Lily Evans tasted just like that stupid peach flavored chapstick, the smell of her perfume was so intoxicating and you felt like you were floating. And at the same time, it was such a bittersweet feeling that was installed on your chest.
Lily pulled apart just as abruptly as she kissed you, both of you had tears in your eyes, she wouldn't even look you when she turned around and without a single word spoken, left, leaving you behind. All you could think was how it was perhaps the ending of your story, one that never even had the chance to begin.
And I'll be okay
Admiring from afar
Cause even when she's next to me
We could not be more far apart
And she tastes like birthday cake and storytime and fall
But to her
I taste of nothing at all
A month had gone by and even if you tried to speak to Lily, she avoided you at all costs, by the second week you had accepted that not only had you lost a friend, you had lost your other half.
So, taking matters into your own hands, you stood outside the Gryffindor common room, trying to ignore the deathly glares you received from the other members of the house.
Once you spotted Lily leaving the common room, you got a hold of her hand. “I have to tell you something.”
All it took was a look into your eyes to know that this was your last chance of making things right between both of you, so she nodded as she said goodbye to Marlene and Alice.
As Lily guided you through the halls and into an empty classroom, you felt your chest tightening once more, what you were about to do had you in tears already. She opened the door and you threw yourself into her arms.
“I love you Lils,” You said, the tears that fell from your eyes right into her shirt were the last thing you worried about, her arms wrapped around your torso and she held you just as tightly.
For a couple of seconds that was all you did, hold each other.
And then you broke apart, looking into those green eyes once more. Shit, maybe green has been your favorite color for all the wrong reasons. You leaned in and pressed a kiss on her cheek. Your hands were intertwined together as you whispered once more. “I love you, Lils.”
“James asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes.”
“I know.”
“Then why did you-” You smiled, although it didn't quite reach your eyes, you promised yourself this was the last time you cried over her. Over something that never happened. “Because, it's my way of saying goodbye Lily, I'm sorry,”
After that day, the world was just a little gloomier, you would find her looking at you during class, cheering from the stands while you played Quidditch, but not once did you allow yourself to look back. Often you wondered if she too had been just as enamored by you as you were with her. Maybe she just couldn't take that leap of faith with you.
Had you known that it would be the last time you'd speak to her, you would have repeated those same three words until it stopped making sense, in the end, Lily Evans died young, and you went on to live with the memory of those piercing green eyes and the taste of that cherry chapstick.
She meant everything to me...

I had always supposed that reaching the sixth year at Hogwarts meant subjects would get way more demanding and complex, and I to be proven right, only two weeks in were needed.
Added to the usual difficulties, we would be hosting The Triwizard Tournament. Having the castle be almost twice as crowded as the other years, when all you crave is a quiet spot to study, wasn't ideal.
As I said, the first two weeks were already hard enough.
During the third week though, believe it or not, things got even worse —and our guests hadn't even arrived yet.
The Slytherin common room was quieter than the library these days, that's the sole reason why, at 3:35 pm, my best friend and I were already making our way there.
To our luck, we arrived just in time to see the two redheaded troublemakers par excellence high-fiving each other besides my common room's entrance.
"What on Merlin's beard are you two doing here?!" Both of them jumped at the sight of two Slytherins.
"The question is what are YOU doing here?" One of them questioned back, probably attempting to distract us. "You two should be in the library."
"What did you do?" I squinted my eyes at them and, while one raised his hands in surrender, the other just shrugged.
"Nothing." He motioned at our door nonchalantly. "If you don't believe me, check it yourself."
My friend and I shared a reluctant look, and before I could say anything, she was heading to the door.
"Mathilda wait—" I gasped when she sunk into what appeared to be the stone floor.
"Okay now, I wasn't expecting her to actually do it." When I attempted to step forward, a hand on my forearm prevented me from it.
"Don't step further." He warned. "Just in case."
"I'm not stupid." I hissed before grabbing my wand, which made the tall redhead back off. "Revelio." Slowly, a swamp was revealed to be where the entrance hall to the Slytherin common room was supposed to.
Now that it was visible, both twins hurried to get my friend out of their giant prank.
"Get rid of this." I ordered as they pulled her up, her bottom half covered in mud.
"Pffft... no?" One of them scoffed, walking away from Mathilda and stepping closer to me. "It's a masterpiece. It stays."
"If it stays, I will throw you into your masterpiece." I threatened, putting my wand back in my pocket.
"Oh, I'd love to see you try."
I glared at him, partially because I hated that cocky attitude these two —specially him— always exhibited, but also because I had to look up in order to make eye contact.
"Listen Weasley,"
"It's Fred." Oh what would I give to wipe that stupid grin off his face.
"I don't care." Refusing to step back as he clearly wanted to achieve by towering me, I stepped forward, lightly pushing him back with one hand. "You will remove this from here or I will walk right now to the Potions Classroom and split on you."
The twins seemed to have a silent conversation with their eyes only. After a moment of silence, the one with my friend spoke. "We'll get rid of it right now and you won't say anything." I nodded, my eyes still fixed on Fred's. "Just so we're clear, this was not set up for you."
"The next one will be, though." Fred assured me with an almost wicked smile. "I'll make sure you can't use the revelio on it."
"Is that a promise, Weasley?" I asked in an unconsciously defying tone.
"You can be sure of it, Y/l/n."
"It's Y/n." I retorted, mocking him.
"I don't care." I rolled my eyes when he did the same, finally breaking eye contact with him.
"C'mon Thilda," I held out my hand to her "let's see if someone can sneak us into the Ravenclaw common room."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You think Fred meant it?" Mathilda inquired, the worry slipping through her words as she played with her breakfast.
"I doubt so." Angelina, who was sitting in front of us, replied without even looking up from her quidditch history book. "They seem more trouble than they are, really." I scoffed; it was easier for her to say that; she was a Griffindor after all. "Deep down they're nice sort, Y/n. They won't pick up on you for ruining a prank."
"I don't trust them."
"I'm not saying you have to—" Angelina jumped slightly when a wad of paper hit my face.
"You were saying?" I grunted, making eye contact with the red haired boy waving at me from the Griffindor table.
When I opened the wad, it read:
'miss me? —Fred ;)'.
"Look at his smug face." I hissed. "I'm gonna-"
"Ignore him. You're gonna ignore him." Angelina finished, fairly unconcerned. "I assure you he'll get bored in less then two days if he can't get a reaction out of you."
For the sake of having breakfast in peace, I only dedicated him a fake smile and did as my friend said. It seemed to work, until it was time to leave for class.
"We should get moving." Mathilda spoke, putting her plate aside and picking up her things as I did the same.
"I have a free period now." Angelina informed us. "Or as free as it can be. You?"
"Divination. Y/n?"
"Charms— Fuck." I whined as something dawned on me. "Those gits are in my class." I spared them a glare. "If they ruin my favorite subject I'm gonna—" a sudden splash of water on my face left my shirt soaked for at least the next hour. "You got the nerve—!" I yelled at the guy who was already making eye contact with me.
"I do, indeed!" He cut me off, winking at me from across the table, his chin resting on the palm of his hand with a teasing grin dancing on his lips as he asked, "what are you gonna do now, Y/l/n?" His twin brother, though I could only see his back, was clearly not enjoying this behavior.
Mathilda checked my gaze, dreading the worst. "Y/n, don't. You're gonna make Slytherin lose points." She knew the warning wouldn't do much, but at least she had tried.
Angelina, instead of backing our friend and try to calm me down, got up and walked to the table where the Weasleys sat.
FRED'S P.O.V.
"I hope you know you're dead." Angie stood in front of me, before using her book to tap my brother's arm. "George, move."
"What?"
The three of us spared a look at Y/n, who had, ignoring McGonagall yells, stepped over her table to get to us.
"Move. Now."
"Ssshit." My brother moved just in time for Y/n to repeat the same forward move on our table.
It's not as if I didn't have the time to move and run away, she hadn't rushed; on the contrary, she walked calmed and composed, and still I did not move an inch.
I guess a part of me wanted to know what she'd do to me.
"Look at you." I began to wind her up again when she climbed off the table on my side, sitting down on its surface with her shoes over the bench. "Doing the impossible to be near me, how romant—"
My sentence died off abruptly as a handful of scrambled eggs was mashed against my face.
I heard a burst of laughs around me. "Blimey! I'm sorry, Fred," she feigned worry, smearing what I assumed were the remaining rests of my breakfast all over my chest. "I hope you're not late to Charms because of this." She whispered near my ear, making a shiver go down my spine when her breath hit my neck. "See you there, yeah?"
Her hand squeezed my shoulder and her fingers ran over my shoulder blades as she walked away.
I felt a napkin placed in my hand and I was quick to remove as much scrambled eggs as possible from my face, just in time to see Y/n exiting the Great Hall with McGonagall jogging after her.
"You know?" Lee asked, drawing my attention. "Picking up on the girl you fancy is kind of a toddler strategy."
"Yeah, Fred," my brother agreed. "you're not an eighth year-old anymore."
"And you chose the wrong girl to nag" Angie added," if you keep it up, she will surely kill you." She held back a teasing smile. "And you should be careful" she nudged George. "I don't think she can tell you both apart, you can end up as collateral damage."
"But you wouldn't let that happen, would you?" I rolled my eyes when George scooted closer to our quidditch chaser.
"Depends on how annoying you are." She faked indifference as my brother searched for her eyes.
"I don't fancy her." I not-so-randomly stated. "But I can't stop pranking her now that she ruined my breakfast."
"You can and you will, Weasley." I jolted at McGonagall's voice behind me. "Twenty points from Gryffindor." At least I'm not grounded, I thought. "And you're grounded for the rest of the week."
"But Y/n— Ouch!" my brother kicked me under the table so I would shut it.
"Y/l/n has received her fair share of punishment, too, Weasley." The professor gave me a poorly masked, disgusted look. "Go and..." She waved her hand "Clean yourself up, Y/l/n will inform professor Flitwick about this incident. And Weasley," She stared at my brother. "Aren't you supposed to be heading to Charms too?"
"Yes ma'am." He replied, throwing everything into his bag, getting up and rushing out of there, not before grabbing his robe.
"The day's promising." I groaned, handing my things over to Angelina so I could go to the bathroom.
"You made the day promising by messing with a Slytherin, you twit." She pointed out, putting my things over hers. "Now go clean those eggs from your shirt."
"Aye, mother!" I headed off before Angie could add anything else to the conversation, loosening my tie as I moved forward.
As I cleaned off everything I could in the nearest bathroom, a random thought slipped into my mind.
Had Y/n been punished too? And if so, would we fullfil the punishment together? It seemed logical that if one of us got grounded, the other one would get grounded too; consequently, it would only make sense for us to—
Shut it. I mumbled to my own mind.
I didn't care. I did not care if she was punished or not. It was none of my business.
I don't fancy her, I thought to myself once again.
Picture Perfect - Winchester Brothers Imagine (Supernatural)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: Picture Perfect
Pairing: Winchester Brothers X Child!Reader
Requested: by @isatkj
Word Count: 1,356 words
Warning(s): mentions of death, potential violence.
Summary: (Around Season 8 or 9-ish) The perfect town... that wasn't supposed to exist. Now, Sam and Dean have to figure out what caused this city to suddenly pop up on the map.
Author's Note: I took so much inspiration from season 14, episode 15 because of the general vibe of the whole episode.
Hey! I did a rewrite of the ending of Supernatural. It took a really long time to complete, so it would mean a lot to me if you check it out. Here’s a link! (it’s on my personal account)
-----------------------------------
--Third P.O.V--
Dean pulled the impala up to an open gas pump. While his brother got the gas, Sam opened the passenger door so he could go over the facts.
"So, there have been strange occurrences around a small town about three hours outside of Seattle, Washington," Sam relayed. "Insiders rarely come out and the outsiders that go in don't usually get back out."
"No one's making a huge deal about this," Dean asked.
"Well, it's supposed to be an old ghost town," Sam explained. "But it's not. Functioning stores and living families."
"So, something has got this town up and running but the people in it are... what performing sacrifices," Dean asked.
"I don't know," Sam shrugged.
"How far out are we," Dean asked.
"A few more hours," Sam replied.
"Hold on boys," the brothers looked over to see Death standing in front of the car. "I have some information you need about this little town."
"And that is...," Sam asked after Death had trailed off.
"You shouldn't go in," the being replied. "The person running that town is incredibly dangerous. You'll be dead in moments. The residents won't let you get close enough to harm the child."
"The child," Dean noted.
"The child is raising the dead," Death continued. "This upsets the natural balance of things. The source must be removed."
"'The source' is a child," Sam argued. "You can't just kill a child."
"I can, and I will," Death just seemed to shrug.
"Do you know why this kid wants to bring people back," Dean asked. "Before you become an asshole and murder someone who hasn't even gotten to middle school?"
"Almost a year ago, the child lost both of their parents," Death explained. "That's when their powers first spiraled. It started with only their parents. It then spread, like a virus. Soon, a whole town was standing in a spot where there should be rubble."
"You're going to kill a kid that lost their family," Sam asked.
The brothers stared at Death in shock. Death seemed annoyingly unaffected. To him, this was the only way to put things back in order. To the boys, this was a clearly scared kid that went through the same pain that they did.
"You can't do this," Dean shook his head. "We won't let you."
"You don't have a choice-"
"Give us a chance," Sam snapped. "It's a kid. A scared kid. Give us a chance to talk to them. Just a chance."
"No."
"Come on!"
"I'll give you one chance," Death replied. "If you fail, I will finish the job."
As the word "job" was spoken, Death vanished from the boys' sight.
Sam and Dean jumped back into the impala and took off. What was supposed to be another three-hour drive was done in a little over two. Neither brother knew how they didn't get pulled over but they didn't care.
Dean pulled the car over to the curb.
"Woah," Dean mumbled as they got out.
It was the picture-perfect town. There was a small dinner, a library that was actually being used, cookie-cutter houses. Sam and Dean looked at each other.
Locals were looking at them as the brothers walked by.
"So, where do we find this kid," Dean asked.
"Well, look at the signs," Sam pointed at the businesses. Most of them had (Y/l/n) on their signs. "It's the most common name. If we can find that house, we can find the kid."
Everyone's house had little signs. It was very clear this town was designed by a child.
"Well, hello," a man walked up to the brothers.
"Hi," Dean said awkwardly.
"Can I ask why you boys have decided to visit our little town," the man asked.
The boys looked at each other for a moment.
"We were admiring the lovely houses," Sam lied. "We have been considering moving for a while and this town seems lovely."
"Well, there aren't any vacancies," the man replied.
"Oh, that's a shame," Sam shrugged. "Is there someone else we can talk to? A mayor or something? I don't want to insult you but maybe you missed something."
The man's smile dropped, "You can't go near them."
"Why," Dean asked.
"You'll hurt them," the man glared.
It was like that was a signal. All of the people on the street stopped, turning to stare at the brothers. The brothers looked all around them.
"We're not going to hurt them," Sam tried to explain. "We're trying to help."
"No," the man snapped. "You're trying to take us away."
When the man stepped forward, the brothers knew it was time to run. They sprinted down the street as almost a whole town chased them.
"Sam," Dean yelled, pointing at a house. "There, look at the sign!"
"(Y/l/n)'s house!" was written on the sign.
The brothers ran through the front door, locking it. No one banged on the door.
"They don't want to hurt (Y/n)," Sam said. "We should be safe here."
"Hello there," a man and woman walked out to see the brothers.
"The parents," Sam mumbled.
They looked up to the stairs when the floor creaked. There was a young kid standing up there.
"Hi, (Y/n)," Sam said softly, trying to keep from scaring the kid. "I'm Sam, this is my brother, Dean. We're here to help."
"Why," the kid asked. "I'm happy here. Everything was fixed."
"Do you know why," Sam asked. The child seemed confused at the idea that something caused this. "You brought them back, remember?"
"Don't," the dad said in anger. "You don't get to hurt (Y/n)."
"Sam," Dean mumbled.
One more shared look and the two took off. They ran up the stairs, the undead parents on their tails.
"I'm sorry," Sam mumbled, leading (Y/n) back into their room. Dean slammed the door, locking it and being ready to hold it shut.
"What are you doing," (Y/n) went to fight Sam, but obviously didn't get far.
"(Y/n)," Sam knelt down and grabbed (Y/n)'s shoulders. "You created this town. Your parents died and your powers went out of control. No one here is supposed to be alive."
"You're... You're lying," the child yelled, shaking her head. Dean leaned into the door when (Y/n)'s parents started banging on it.
"I know it's hard," Sam continued. "It's terrifying but you aren't going to be completely alone. Right now, you're putting yourself in danger. That's not good, is it?"
(Y/n) shook their head.
"I lost both my parents too," Sam said. "It's scary but you have to let these people go. They have to move on. I promise, they'll be much happier."
"I don't wanna be alone," the kid mumbled, tears falling down their face.
"You won't be," Sam promised. "Dean and I will make sure of that."
The banging stopped. Dean stood up straight again.
The cookie-cutter house faded. Instead of falling from the second floor like they should have, they were just on the ground by an old building, already crumbled and destroyed.
Sam pulled (Y/n) into a tight hug as the kid sobbed. Dean walked over to them. He and Sam shared a sad look. Sam slowly stood up, letting the kid hold his hand as they walked to the impala.
Death was waiting for them.
The brothers froze, Sam pushing (Y/n) behind him.
"Good job boys," Death complimented. "However, there's still a problem. The child doesn't have control over their powers."
"We can teach them," Dean argued. "We have enough experience with powers that we can help."
Death took a step forward.
Both the boys moved to be more in his way.
"Fine," Death stared at (Y/n), who was still hiding behind Sam. "I'll have my eye on you."
With that, Death disappeared again. (Y/n) stepped out from behind Sam.
"He's not very nice," the kid mumbled. The brothers couldn't help but chuckle. Understatement of the century.
"Come on, kid," Dean nodded toward the car. "Let's make sure we have a comfortable place for you to sleep for the night."
The boys didn't expect to leave the town with a kid but it definitely wasn't the weirdest hunt they had been on.
House of Lust (part 16)
Abbé de Coulmier x reader
Summary: Five years has passed since the events of Quills. The Abbé de Coulmier is released of prision by a misterious event. And he will know again those feelings he never thought will meet again: love... and lust.
Warnings: some mentions of violence and wounds, mentions of sex.
Tumblr media
Odelle went to the dungeons in the morning, finding François sleeping on the ground, covered with the blanket. She actually thought he was dead for a minute, but he wasn't. He survived the punishment. And she didn't know how.
What she was thinking by now was about that empty bottle and that blanket. Who gave those to him? Was it you? One of the guards? Louis? Claude? One of the guests? No, they didn't know he was in the dungeons.
She opened the cell and approached him. She kneeled beside him and put her hand on his shoulder, moving him to wake him up.
"Abbé. Hey Abbé. Wake up. C'mon."
He started to open his eyes and, at the moment he saw Odelle, he jumped and moved to a corner, scared like if she was the product of a nightmare. He even thought he was dead, and she was a demon from a real Hell.
"Oh, do I scare you that much? That's nice!" She mocked. "Take this. Put them on." She throwed him a new cassock, shirt and trousers, and waited for him outside, smiling. He still had some bruises all over his body, and that made her feel good. But the lashes in his back somehow were cured. And she noticed it. It was impossible he did it alone. Someone must have help him.
Coulmier arrived at her side with new clothes, while he finished zipping the last buttons. He was breathing slowly. He frowned when he saw her standing and waiting for him. He wanted to kill her. It was the same feeling he always had while seeing doctor Roger-Collard.
He thought a lot about him those days in the dungeon. It reminded him a lot of the Charenton cell he made him go into. He thought a lot about Madeline too. And the Marquis. He dreamt about them. And you. He dreamt about you a lot.
"What the hell do you want now, Odelle? What are you going to make me do?" Said he, angry. His nails scratched the skin of his palms.
"I'm not going to make you do anything, Abbé. I'm done with you. I punished you because of what you did. But that's it. Today is the last day of the House of Lust this year. And you'll be free to go."
Was that true? He didn't trust her at all. But she didn't seem to be kidding. Maybe she was going to free him. Maybe it was true. But it was just a maybe. He didn't say anything else. He just glanced at her with hate.
"Now, go to Y/N chambers and clean yourself a little. Fix you hair. You're so handsome, but now you look horrible."
She smiled and left. He heard moans coming from a door next to where he stood. But it was a common thing by now, and he didn't mind about it.
He entered to your bedroom and found you sleeping. He approached to you in silence, sitting at the edge of the bed, extending his hand to touch your hair. You were fine. That was everything he wanted to know.
"Y/N, it's me." He said, and you woke. You scared at first, but then you recognized him.
"Abbé! Oh my God, I was so scared! Are you okay?" You hugged him quickly, not letting him a chance to go anywhere.
"I'm fine, Y/N. I'm... I'm fine. I'm alive." He smiled.
He broked the hug and looked at you im silence, right into your eyes. You kissed him with hunger, surprising him. But then, he continued with the kiss, touching your face and then your neck.
"I've missed you so much, François." You said, and his name in your lips caused something inside of him.
He started to cry suddenly. You didn't understand why, but you hugged him again, caressing his hair with pity. You didn't know what he had been through.
"Why are you crying, Abbé? What is it?"
"I thought your sister was going to kill me, Y/N. She... Let me in that cage like an animal. And, you know what? I didn't care about that. But then I thought about you, and I wanted to survive for you. I'm so glad you're fine! This are tears of joy!"
You hugged each other again, but when your hand caressed her back, he jumped with pain.
"What is it?" You said quickly, noticing he wasn't that right. You cupped his face with your hands. "You're not okay."
"No. Actually, I'm not." He smiled with pain in his eyes, tears still filling those green diamonds. "Your sister tortured me."
"What?! That fucking bitch! I'm going to kill her!" You screamed.
"Don't say those things, love." Coulmier cut what you were saying, putting his index finger in your lips. "I share the feeling, but tomorrow we will be free."
"You're right. I'm sorry, François. You're absolutely right. Tomorrow we can go to any place we wish, together."
"Actually, I want to talk with you about a couple of things---"
"Not here. Wait. Come with me to the bathroom. I'll give you a nice bath."
He smiled and followed you to the bathroom. He took off all his new clothes, and you couldn't help but put your hands in your mouth when you saw him naked. His back was all wounded with lashes. He had a stiched cut in his chest above the right nipple. And many bruises all over his skin.
"Josephine helped me." He whispered, in case anyone was outside. "She cured my wounds. You were right. She is not like Odelle."
"I told you she's nice. I hope she can get out of this place soon." You said, helping him enter the bathub, which was full of warm water. You started to clean the rests of blood from his back with care.
"I wanted to talk about that. I'm thinking she can go with us, at least while we go away from here. Do you agree?"
"Well... Yeah. She's my sister. And yes, she's done a lot of bad things, but I love her. It's a good idea. I agree."
You both stayed in silence a couple of minutes, just watching each other. You were washing his back with care and, when you ended, you started to give him a little massage in his chest and shoulders. He moaned a little because of the good feeling. After those days in the dungeons, it was nice to be back with you.
"Odelle makes a party every year when the days of the House of Lust are over." You explained. "We have to go and act normally. If anyone asks why they didn't see you these days, we can say you had a seminary."
"What happened these days I've been in the cell?" He asked with confussion.
"I don't know. I've been in a cell myself, Abbé. Odelle locked me up in my bedroom. Josephine brought me food and some water, and I had a bath just before you arrived."
"That bitch... I can't wait to be out of here, away from her." Said he, with hate. You couldn't blame him. You felt like that since many years.
"I need to ask you something, Abbé."
"Tell me." He responded, closing his eyes to feel your fingers massaging his scalp.
"When we were... You know... About to make love... And my sister found us..."
"Yeah...?"
"You said you had to confess something. What was it?"
François opened his eyes and looked at you briefly. He suddenly remembered how good you tasted, and the sounds you made while he was fucking you with his mouth and fingers just before he was taken to the dungeon. Yes. He had to confess something. Something awful. And surely you will understand.
"Do you know the 100 Days of Sodom? The book, I mean. It's a Marquis de Sade book."
"Yeah, my sisters have it in our library. Odelle reads it since it came out, and uses to practice somethings in here. Why?"
"Did you read it?"
"Some parts, just because she obligued me to do it. What has the book to do with your confession?"
He closed his eyes and let out a heavy breath, like if what he was about to say was really painful for him. He shocked his head and, with notable shame in his eyes, he talked with low voice.
"It wasn't the Marquis de Sade who wrote it. It was me. Roger-Collard... The doctor who made me be an inmate... When the Marquis died, I started to write as if I was him. I heard his voice in my head, guiding my hand into the paper. When Roger-Collard knew about that, he made me write a long story to print as a book. He told everyone it was the last thing the Maquis ever wrote, but it was me."
"And what about that?" You said, not getting why was that so bad.
"If people is so wicked... If this House of Lust has it existense based in that book, as you said... It's all my damn fault. I... I was so away from God... With everything that happened in those days... My mind was full of demons. And I really understood why the Marquis had to write them."
There was an extended silence in the room, with you finally getting how bad it was for him to write such a nasty, bad and pervert tale as that. Who will imagine it? A priest writing those things!
"Hey. Look at me." You took his face in you hands. "No one has to know. Ever. And I will keep my mouth shout. I promise. It wasn't you who wrote it. As you said, it was the Marquis. But you don't hear him anymore, don't you?"
"No. I haven't hear his voice in a year."
"So, you are you. And that's everything is fine." You said, smiling. He smiled back and kissed you.
"Now, we have to go to the stupid party. This will end soon. And we will be free to do whatever we want."
You helped him to put his clothes again and, back in your bedroom, you brushed his hair with care. He looked at himself in the mirror, and you, standing behind him, approached to him and kissed his cheek.
"You're so damn handsome." You said, waiting for him at the bedroom's door. "And you look so fine... I don't think no one will ask anything odd."
"I'm fine thanks to you and Josephine. And you are magnificent and beautiful too." He responded, smiling, hugging you and kissing you again, as if he didn't spent three days in a cell after a painful and pleasurable torture. "I love you, Y/N."
Guests started to arrive to the dining room from their bedrooms while you smiled at him. It will be a long, weird day. You both knew that. But you didn't imagined what was coming. You had no idea...
A/N: this is really messy, i'm sorry
Tumblr media
'You have always been like a little sister I always wanted. I'm so sorry, we can still be friends'
For some unknown reason he kept having dreams about that one evening. 'Dreams,' he would scoff, 'more like nightmares.' They always end horribly. Either with you never talking to him again out of shame or him delivering those lines not so gently.
Loki couldn't understand why he kept dreaming about it. About her. How the light in her eyes slowly died when he told her. He told her the truth, right? It was the right thing to do, right?
*
She was hanging out with that soldier again. Loki's mouth twisted into disgusted grimace when he spot how he put his arm around her shoulders, how she held the single dandelion he gave her. A dandelion? Please, he couldn't really fall that low to give a lady some common weed, could he? A lady with such charm and class like Y/N deserves a dozen roses for every day she blessed this world with her smile and laugh.
Loki's eyes widened. Why was he thinking of her like that so suddenly? He never thought of her like that before. No. She's just a friend. Like his little sister. That's what he told her. She believed him. Now he has to believe it himself.
*
Sudden rain drove Loki away from his new favourite sitting spot in the corner of the garden. The oak stump. If only he kept a part of the tree. A twig or a leaf. He would've carried it around like a talisman. Or acorn, so he could grow another oak, even though it wouldn't be the same one.
His mind was on autopilot, he didn't even realize his legs carried him to your bedroom door. He stood there like a statue. Listening for any sounds. For any voices. He heard nothing. You must be somewhere else. That realization made him even more anxious. You could be with that soldier again. He can't have that.
He walked to only place he could always find you: library. As he wanted to open the heavy door you ran into him, colliding into his chest.
"Sorry-" your relax expression changed when you looked up into his eyes
"Hi," he smiled softly.
"Hello," you greeted, but without a smile. You tried to walk by him when he stopped you with his hand on your shoulder.
"Why are you running away from me?"
"I'm not. It's just.... this," you gestured between him and you, "it's awkward."
"Oh, so you avoid me, your oldest friend, and spend your entire day with Hofferson then," Loki crossed his arms on his chest.
"Aren't you supposed to be on a date or something?" you pushed yourself pass him, poison in your voice.
"Aren't you supposed to spend some time with me too?"
"I can't Loki. I'm trying to get rid of all of my feelings for you! I can't be near you if I want it to work!" you nearly screamed in his face.
Those words hurt Loki more than he thought. "Getting rid of ALL feelings? So you're trying to hate me then."
"No! Understand that I can't be friends with someone I love!"
"Platonic love exists too, you know," Loki remarked.
You rolled your eyes. "Whatever. I don't want to argue with you anymore, I'm going."
"Where?" he asked as you escaped him.
"To someone that cares about me, and not just platonicly!" you shouted behind your back and ran.
*
He hasn't had a word or a single alone time with you since then. You were always near that soldier, always talking to him, hugging him, hanging on his arm all the time.
Loki felt nausea whenever he saw Y/N with anyone but him. He wasn't used to seeing Y/N with other men, she was always near him. He missed her. Her laugh, her smile, her hugs. Everything.
No matter how many girls or boys he came across on streets, none of them could ever take your place. None of them smiled as brightly or as truly as you always did. Even when he was telling you about anyone he was interested in, you still smiled and wished him well with the person. You wanted him to be happy, even if it hurt you.
So why can't he do the same? Be happy you're with someone who will love you? Instead he grits his teeth whenever he sees the two of you together. Why does he want you all to himself? Why the thought of you being with someone else makes him throw up?
Loki sighed and held his head in his hands. It is true what they say. You'll realize you love somebody only after you lose them.
*
He felt like a coward. Standing in front of your bedroom door, with heart anxiously pounding in his chest.
Loki took a deep breath and knocked. No one answered. You must be out again. With him.
He shook the thought away and opened the door. If anything, he'll at least be able to give you a message without having to look into your eyes. While he was looking for a piece of paper and a pen around your room he noticed a new pot on your windowsill. It was brown and smaller than the rest with a single tiny green sprout sticking from the dirt.
Loki took the pot in his hand, it was small enough to fit into his palm. He smiled. It was so tiny and fragile. He wondered what kind of plant it was.
Before he could use one of the runes to find out a door creaked open behind him. "What are you doing here?" you asked. He was so startled by you catching him he couldn't even deduce if you were angry or surprised to see him.
"I-I wanted to talk to you," he turned towards you.
You looked at his hand. "Why are you holding it? Put it back, you might break it!" before he could even move you rushed to him, took the pot from his hand and held it close to your chest. Could one be jealous when a plant gets a cuddle but her oldest friend doesn't? Apparently Loki could.
"What do you want to talk about? If it's some noble lady I don't want to hear it," you turned your head away from him.
Loki shook his head. "No, it's not a lady."
"Some son of a sailor then?"
"No, I came here to tell you something."
You turned your head back to him. "And what is that?"
Loki took a deep breath. It's now or never. "I came to a realization. And not just a common one. I didn't think my life could be so lonely without you in it. Every single day I've missed you, longed to spend time with you again. Laugh with you. It pained me to see that Hofferson boy with you. Ever since I saw the two of you in the stables I wanted to rip you away from him. Just like I every boy you got close to in our childhood. For a long time I couldn't understand why I wanted you all to myself and no other man. But now I do. It's because I love you. Romantically. Just like you love me," he didn't look away from you. He didn't dare.
You shook your head in disapointment. "You're so selfish, Loki."
He didn't expect that answer. It was far away from anything he was expecting. All blood left his face. "Well, that's what love makes out of person. It makes them selfish, possesive."
"So how come I could let you go after your monthly interests without complaining like you did?"
Loki froze. "Y-you're apparently a better person than me," he picked on his palm.
You hummed. "So...what now?"
Loki took your lack of emotions as a rejection. He concluded he traded places with you. Now you were the one without romantic feelings and he was the one being rejected.
He couldn't keep looking at the love of his life rejecting him. He studied the pot in her hamds instead. "Now? I guess I will have to find a spell to erase all romantic feelings I have for you and wish you all the best with Hoffer-I mean Arne," he thanked all heavens above for his training that didn't let him fall apart in front of you.
You looked at him, fear in your eyes." Why would you do that?"
Loki laughed. It was a bitter one, filled with sadness. "Because you don't love me anymore."
"That's not true," you whispered.
Loki's head snapped up. "What?"
"I-I said that's not true. I never stopped, no matter how much I tried. I even saved a little part of our tree," you said softly and caressed the little sprout.
"That's from the old oak?"
You nodded. "For some reason I couldn't just cut it down and erase its whole existence."
Now Loki knows what it means when a stone falls from someone's heart. "So, that means you still love me?" he asked hopefully.
You nodded. "And you love me too?"
"Of course my love. Can we please start over again?"
"I would love to," you blessed him with your kindest, purest smile.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked a little too excited.
"No," his heart fell to the floor, "you have to kiss me."
Loki sighed from relief. He walked over to you and cupped your cheeks. From up close your eyes were even more beautiful than he noticed the first time he kissed you. He reminded himself to tell you everyday from now on.
And just like that, the history repeated itself. Loki gently placed his lips on yours in a loving kiss. Your head spinned once again just like so many years ago. And one oak tree witnessed it all.
Dying From a Broken Heart
Part Two of Confidence
Warnings: Violence, angst, language, arguing, blood, fluff
Pairings: Jack x Winchester!Reader
Characters: Jack Kline, Sam Winchester, Dean Winchester, Castiel, Rowena, Eros, Reader
Word Count: 3.1k
Summary: While you and Jack are at the motel, you make a shocking discovery. You're not dealing with a pack of werewolves like you thought, but Eros, God of Love and Lust. You finally figure out the connection between Eros and the victims. . . Only to find out that you're next.
Tumblr media
You and Jack were still doing research when Sam and Dean came back. "Okay, so get this." You said, turning around in your chair. "Every year, six people go missing and are found dead with their hearts torn out."
"A ritual?" Sam inquired.
"Exactly what I was thinking, dear brother." You grinned. "Now, big city like this, six missing people is something you'd hardly notice."
"Yeah, but why would a werewolf preform a ritual?" Dean asked.
"That's what Jack and I kept asking ourselves." You said, looking over at your boyfriend. "Why in the world would a Purebred werewolf need to preform some kind of ritual?" You stood up, rummaging around in your backpack for a book. You gave a triumphant smile as you held up your Greek Mythology book.
"Eros. God of Love and Lust." You opened the book to the page that was dedicated to the god.
"But their hearts were torn out." Dean furrowed his eyebrows. "What would Eros want with hearts?"
"It's a sacrifice for him." You informed the men. "Think about it. None of the vics had bites or even scratches. At first, I thought it was a Purebred werewolf because the attacks didn't line up with the lunar cycle. But the more I thought about it, the more that this makes sense. People used to worship Eros and make sacrifices for him, but now hardly anyone believes in him anymore. So Eros goes out and gets his own sacrifices."
Sam and Dean seemed impressed while Jack seemed proud. "Okay." Dean nodded. "That means that since he failed with the last victim, he's going kill again."
You tried your hardest to think of some kind of connection with all the deceased. You knew there had to be something in common since they were dealing with a god. They seemed to be picky with their sacrifices.
"What are you thinking about, Y/n?" Jack asked, resting his hand on top of yours, something that didn't go unnoticed by your brothers. Dean was about to say something when Sam stomped on his foot, earning a grunt from Dean.
"I'm trying to find the connection between everyone. Because I know there has to be one." You picked at a tear in your jeans while you tried to connect the dots.
Then it hit you like a ton of bricks. You stood up abruptly, startling the men in the room. "I know what Eros looks in for a sacrifice." You stated, grabbing your notepad to look at the stuff you had written down. "Everyone we interviewed said the victims just had a big announcement. The 55 year old man was celebrating his 30th anniversary with his wife, the 28 year old woman was newly engaged, the 45 year old man just started dating again after his wife died, and so on until the fifteen year old girl. She had just gotten her first girlfriend when she was attacked."
"What are you saying, Y/n?" Jack questioned.
"I'm saying that Eros is targeting people with an immense amount of pure love. That's what he's looking for!"
"Wow." Sam said, looking at his little sister in admiration. "That's genius, Y/n." He patted her on the shoulder, only to furrow his eyebrows. "What's that on your collarbone?"
You gave Sam a confused look as you headed to the bathroom. There, on your collarbone was a dark red circle. You sucked in a sharp breath.
"I know who the next target is." You told the men.
"Who?" Jack seemed worried by the look on your face.
"It's me."
.
. .
. . .
"How did this even happen?!" Sam exclaimed.
"I don't know!" You defended yourself, your voice raised slightly. "The whole time we were out I was with you guys. Jack and I never left the motel room while you two were gone."
"That is true." Jack nodded. "Y/n and I stayed in here and she agreed to be my girlfri-"
You put your hand over his mouth. "Now's not the time, babe." You could feel Dean glaring a hole through you and Jack.
"Okay, let's think about this for a second." You said, trying to calm everyone down. "Maybe this is a good thing."
"A good thing?!" Dean roared. "Y/n, how in the hell is this a good thing?!"
"Dean." Sam hissed, cuffing his brother. "Calm down and let Y/n talk." You threw Sam a grateful look.
"This way we can lure Eros out, and kill him. Apparently all it takes is a wooden stake dipped in lambs blood."
"I don't like this plan." Jack muttered.
"See! Thank you." Dean said, clearly pleased with the Nephilim.
"Jack-"
"No, Y/n. You're not going to put yourself in danger just to kill this god. I won't allow it."
"Oh for the love of-" You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. "Eros is coming for me either way. It's better to be prepared and have a plan rather than to just sit here and let him tear my heart out!"
"Don't talk like that!" Jack insisted angrily. You understood that he was worried about you, but you were a grown woman and could make your own decisions.
"It's inevitable, Jack." You said softly. "Eros will come for me. We know from the victims that he kills them 24 hours after being marked. I have maybe 18 hours at best."
Dean was furious. "This is your fault!" He growled at Jack. "You're the reason my baby sister is being targeted!"
Jack looked taken aback. "I didn't want this for Y/n." He said sincerely. "If I could trade places with her, I would."
"That's the problem!"
"Dean-" You started, only to get interrupted by your oldest brother.
"You think you're in love with her, but you're not! It's unnatural. Nephilim, they can't fall in love. All those stupid movies that Y/n and Sam let you watch made you think you're in love with her. You can't love Y/n."
You felt your throat close up, hurt by Dean's words. "Is it that hard to think someone could love me?" You whispered.
Dean's hard glare softened as his eyes landed on you. "Of course not, sweetheart. But Jack. . . He's not right for you."
"Oh, and you know what's best for me?" You growled. Your hurt turned to annoyance and anger.
"Yes, I do. I'm your brother."
Sam and Jack gave each other looks. It was bad when Sam and Dean argued, but when you and Dean argued, it was catastrophic.
"And John was my dad, and he never knew what was best for me! That doesn't mean anything!"
"Oh, so family doesn't mean anything to you?"
"Dean, come on man, you know that's not what she meant." Sam tried to reason.
"Stay out of it, Sam!" Dean yelled.
You could tell Sam was growing annoyed with Dean. His frown deepened, his eyes hardened, and his hand began to twitch.
"No! I won't stay out of it. I am tired of you mistreating Jack and Y/n!"
"Oh, I do not mistreat them!" Dean argued. "Jack, do I mistreat you?" Jack seemed uncomfortable being put on the spot. You knew he looked up to Dean, but Dean had also said some rather hurtful things about Jack.
While Sam, Dean, and Jack continued their argument, you were able to slip away unnoticed.
You were crying now, the thought of dying scared the crap out of you. And your brothers and Jack arguing didn't help the situation.
You looked around the parking lot, looking for something to hotwire. You came across a black Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport. And the dumbass was stupid enough to leave the keys in the ignition.
You started the engine, listening to the bike purr. You threw back the kickstand and began driving. You didn't know where you were going, all you knew was that you had to get out of there.
You weren't stupid, of course, you had your gun and a silver dagger just in case.
You planted both of your feet on the ground at a stop light. You were still crying, and you couldn't figure out why. You were just so angry.
You ended up stopping at a small dive bar outside of Little Rock. There were a total of ten people there, and most were men.
You flag down the bartender and order a beer. Around twenty minutes later, a man slide in the seat beside you. He said nothing as he ordered a drink. The man seemed so familiar to you, but you couldn't put your finger on it. He had curly, dark brown hair, and beautiful blue-grey eyes. He was handsome in all aspects of the word. But he was nothing compared to Jack.
"I've never seen you here before." He said to you.
"Oh, I uh - I'm just passing through." You gave him a tight smile.
You felt your phone buzz in your pocket. You grabbed it, looking down to see that Dean's as calling you. You sent him to voicemail, something that was bound to piss him off.
"Guy troubles?" The man inquired.
"More like brother troubles." You laughed. "I'm Y/n, by the way."
"Elliott." He smiled, showing off a gleaming row of white teeth. "So, what's going on with your brother?"
"Brother's, actually. They treat me like a baby, just because they're older than me."
"That's what brothers are supposed to do." Elliott shrugged. "They're supposed to look out for you, protect you." Your phone rang again, this time, it was Sam. You sent him to voicemail as well and put your phone on silent.
"Yeah, I guess." You agreed. "But -" You cut yourself off, not wanting to dump all your feeling onto this random stranger.
"But what?" He asked, curious to what your response was.
"There's this guy, this amazing, wonderful, sweet and funny guy. He cares about me, and I care about him, but my oldest brother, he thinks we shouldn't be with each other." You confessed, taking a sip of your beer.
"Is he respectful towards you?" You nodded. "He cares about you and treats you right?" You nodded once more. "Then what's the problem?"
"I don't know." You mumbled. "My brother just doesn't trust him, even though he has no reason not to."
"Call it a brother's intuition." Elliott grinned. You blinked as your vision began to blur. "Hey, you okay?" You let out a slurred response. "Let's get you some air." Elliott helped you out of your chair and outside. You felt the cold air nip at your cheeks, making you feel a thousand times better.
Your head began to spin, the world shifting around you. "I don't feel so well." You groaned. Your body went limp, and the last thing you felt was a pair of strong arms wrapping around you to keep you from falling.
.
. .
. . .
"Guys!" Jack yelled over Sam and Dean, trying to catch their attention. "GUYS!" Jack's eyes flared orange, finally getting Sam and Dean to stop arguing. "Where's Y/n?"
Sam and Dean looked around the room frantically. Jack looked into the bathroom and found nothing. "Damnit!" Dean growled. "How could she have left without us noticing?!"
"Well, you and Sam were rather angry, I think it was very easy for her to slip away." Dean glared at Jack.
"So help me God, if a single hair on her head is out of place, all hell will break loose, and it'll be on you." Sam sighed, shaking his head.
Dean dialed your phone number, looking apprehensive. "Y/n, I swear if you sent me to voicemail on purpose, I am going to kill you! Answer me, damnit!"
"Let me try." Sam mumbled. "Y/n, please call and let us know you're okay. We're worried."
"I can find her." Jack said hopefully. He closed his eyes, searching for any sign of you. He saw you sitting next to a guy in a bar, he saw the man put something in your drink, and he saw you pass out outside of the bar.
Jack grew angry. He knew what happened to you was wrong, he could feel you were in distress. "She's in trouble."
.
. .
. . .
"Wakey wakey, sunshine!" Elliott cheered as he threw water on your face. You gasped, bolting awake. You found that you were bound in a chair, the thick rope cutting into your skin. You looked around to see that you were in some kind of a abandoned building.
You were relieved to see that you still had on all your clothes. "I was worried for a second. I thought I might have given you too high of a dose for your body."
"You roofied me." You groaned.
"I did! But you have to understand, Y/n, I would have never gotten you out of there otherwise. You're one of the strongest sacrifices I've ever had."
"Eros." You said in realization.
"Ding ding ding! We have a winner!" Eros almost seemed happy by the situation. "You are going to be one of the best sacrifices I've had. A hunter with a strong heart full of compassion and pure love. The perfect candidate."
"Please," You whimpered. "Let me go."
Eros sucked in a breath, faking remorse. "You see, I wish I could. . . But I can't. I need you. Ever since the last sacrifice escaped, I've been looking for a new one. And then your brother's, boy wonder and you roll into town. I knew as soon as I saw you that you were perfect. Almost too perfect."
You felt a tear slip down your cheek. "Please. I don't want to die. I'm only 21, there's so much things I haven't done yet. Let me live." You pleaded.
"I was hoping you'd say that." Eros grinned, pulling up a chair in front of you, sitting with his chest on the back of the chair. "I was actually looking for a wife." He gave you a wicked grin that made you squirm in your seat. "I need an heir, or heiress, I don't discriminate. I just want someone to pass my powers off to, to teach. So, I can let you live if you agree to be my wife."
"Rot in hell." You spat, disgusted by the thought of marrying Eros. He grew annoyed, as he punched you, your head snapping back.
"That's too bad." Eros shook his head. "But, at least I'll get to enjoy killing you."
You watched in horror as Eros' fingernails grew into sharp, claw-like hands, almost like a werewolves. You screamed in pain as he drew his finger over your face. "Shh, shh, love. It's gonna be okay." You gave out a small cry, struggling against the ropes.
"The more you struggle, the more it's going to hurt." Eros said in a singsong voice.
You began whispering apologies in your head, to Sam, Dean, Jack, Cas, Rowena, everyone. There were so many unfinished words, so many unsaid 'I love you's,'
"I'm sorry." You whispered. You screamed out once more as Eros dug his nails into your chest.
"Y/N!" You heard Dean yell. Sam, Dean and Jack appeared from behind a crate, your brothers carrying guns, and we'll, Jack himself was a weapon.
"Ah, ah, ah." Eros grinned wickedly. "I am holding her life in the palm of my hand; literally. So put down those shiny guns, and step away from them." Sam and Dean looked at each other. Eros scowled as he dug his nails deeper into your skin. You cried out in pain, feeling his nails getting closer to your heart.
"Alright! Alright!" Sam said hastily, setting down his gun and stepping away, encouraging Dean to do the same.
You were quite the sight for the men. You had blood coating your clothes, a bruised eye from the blows that Eros landed earlier, your hair was a mess and you face was streaked with tears.
"Get away from her!" Jack bellowed.
"Oh, look, it's your lover boy." Jack's words only made Eros angrier, as he retracted his hand, and swiped his claws over your face, creating four long gashes.
"I said get away from her!" Jack's eyes began to glow orange, and he trembled with anger. Eros looked frightened as he was sent flying back into the wall.
Sam and Dean surged forward, both carrying a wooden stake dipped in lambs blood, while Jack went to help you.
"It's okay," He whispered. "I've got you." You gave out a small whimper as he cut the ropes. "Can you stand?" You tried to stand up with the help of Jack, but your knees buckled beneath you. Jack scooped you up in his arms. You buried your head in his chest, turning away from you brothers, who were currently killing Eros.
"Take me home." You mumbled before darkness enveloped you.
.
. .
. . .
When you awoke, you were in your bed at the bunker, surrounded by Cas, Sam, Dean, Jack and Rowena.
"Y/n." Dean breathed a breath of relief as he hugged you. You winced in pain, your body still sore from you attack. "I am so sorry. I never should have said those things to you. I'm so glad you're okay."
"It's okay, Dean." You assured him. Even though you said you were fine, there was still pain swimming in his eyes.
"We couldn't heal your wounds with magic," Rowena informed you. "Since Eros was the one to injure you, it will have to heal naturally. I did make you some herbs that will stop the pain, however."
"Thanks, Rowena." You smiled. The room began emptying out, everyone wanted to let you rest. Jack, however, didn't leave your side.
"I'm sorry, Y/n." He whispered.
"Why are you sorry?" You asked, squeezing his hand.
"I let you get hurt. I should have gotten there sooner." You saw there were tears in his eyes. You frowned as you scooted over.
"Come lie beside me." Jack hesitantly climbed into the bed, pushing aside the covers. You wrapped your arms around his middle and rested your head on his chest. "You got me out of there when you did. I'm okay, and that's all that matters."
"But-"
You cut Jack off with a kiss. "I don't want to talk about it anymore." You mumbled, cupping his cheek. "I just want you to hold me."
"I can do that." Jack nodded, pulling you closer to his body. You decided to put on a movie as you and Jack cuddled. Halfway through the movie, you ended up falling asleep. Jack didn't sleep that often, but he felt so at peace that he fell asleep as well.
When everyone came to check on you again, their hearts melted at the sight of you and Jack. "Oh, just look at them." Rowena whispered to the men. "They're so cute."
"Yeah," Dean nodded. "They are."
Random thing that grinds my gears but okay at work we have an old ass computer running the pos system, we don't even have a chip reader I have to manually swipe customers' cards. A semi frequent occurrence that will happen is someone someone order food, get down to the register and ask if we accept apple pay, and I say we don't (we don't have anything that can read the contactless thing) and the customer will be like "oh that's all I have i can't pay sorry" and they leave without being able to purchase the food.
First of all I find it really weird the apple pay app thing doesn't show the numbers of the persons card anywhere, like, I've asked becuase I could just type it in manually but it doesn't. But more importantly, I'm I crazy crazy think like,,, WHY are so many people walking around with ONLY their apple pay app to pay for stuff and nothing else????? No cash? No physical alternate card? No atm card??? Nothing????? What if your phone dies or you drop it in the toilet or something?? What if you are in a dead zone and can't connect connect wifi or 4g??? Or yknow this very moment waiting in line, ordering food, and being unable to buy it becuase they don't take apple pay????
And a WEIRD thing is like, when i say this stuff to my coworkers who are similar age to me or younger, they agree that's super dumb and it's like common sense to have SOME backup on you just in case, but the older coworkers, like people 10+ years think I'm being paranoid becuase "most places do take apple pay" and "what are the chances of x happening" like omg I would expect older adults to lean to being less... internet dependent..?
But I think maybe the generational thing has more to do with like ... people my age and younger having to deal with more financial hardship and uhh anxiety about it.. like... for someone like me, who doesn't have a car, has disabilities, etc, not being able to pay for something in one specific instance could be devastating for a whole number of possibilities. I wouldn't always have a guaranteed luxury of being like oh whatever *goes to a different place or skips out on whatever I was going to buy* but idk...
Chat what do we think omg cause this like drives me crazy
Pairing: king!seokmin x female reader
Genre: angst, romance, royal themed
Warnings: nothing if I remember correctly
Word count: 2k
Like it's a daily matter to him, Seokmin easily jumps over your window and into your room- not that it was a big hassle in the first place.You gasp softly before helping him into your room, "Were you a theif in your past life?" You hiss, sitting beside him in your bed. He puffs up his dark brown locks, chuckling, "Maybe. I promised you I'd visit at night, didn't I?"
You smile fondly at him, squeezing his hand, "That you did." You rest your head on his shoulder, "Did you snuck past the guards again?"
"Yes."
"You do know that His Majesty will be furious if he finds out, don't you?" You murmur, drawing soft circles on his knuckles.
"Only if he finds out, darling. And I've no intention of being caught." Seokmin whispers before softly titling your head up to a kiss.
Having an affair with the prince was something you never thought of, yet, somehow it begun after you started accompanying your father to tend his duties in the royal palace as the garderner. The prince, Lee Seokmin, weirdly took interest in you and since then it has been a common occurrence for him to sneak out of the palace and visit you in the middle of the night. You both couldn't make much noise since your parents slept in the other room and by God, if they ever found out, they were gonna offer you up to the Gods.
"I wish I could visit more often," Seokmin's voice wavers as he strokes your arm through the worn out night dress on you. "It's enough that we can meet, Min. We shouldn't wish for more." You remind to which a sigh escapes from his lips. He hugs you closer as you both look into the night sky from your window, hoping the strings of your fates will be entangled somehow.
-
The King's untimely death stirs a wave of agitation throughout the whole kingdom, including you but for some slightly other reason. It not only meant a dysfunction in the royal family but also that in the near future Seokmin is to be crowned king. Which would mean that your secret meetings would have to stop eventually. The thought pains you to an extreme extent but you prepare yourself for it.
Couple days later when Seokmin visits you, it's mid-day. He wordlessly guides you to the small stream present in the middle of the forest- a place you two often visit. You both take a seat by the rocks and you focus your gaze on Seokmin. He features are exhausted, bags under his eyes, far from his usual cheerful demeanor. "I'm sorry," you croak, trying to offer some sort of solace. Seokmin exhales deeply before turning to you, "You know what this means, ___." You swallow and nod softly.
"I'm sorry but I can't visit you so often now. In fact I don't know when I will visit you again. Everyone is looking up to me now and there's so much to do, so much to prepare that I can barely sleep at night." He whispers tightly holding your hands.
"It's okay, Min. You don't have to be sorry. It's your duty now and it comes before anything else. The whole kingdom looks up to you."
"I know darling, I know. But I want you to know that my love for you will never change. No matter where I am, who I am. Please have some faith on me." His eyes desperately search yours.
"Oh Min," you cup his cheeks. "I believe in you. Everything is going to be okay. And I'll wait for you, as long as it takes."
Seokmin smiles, his eyes shining. From his pocket he produces a brass necklace. "This is for you. I'm leaving a part of me that'll always stay with you." Seokmin gently puts it on you, a simple chain containing two hearts entangled. Your heart constricts. You knew he loved crafting. This is the result of his fine handiwork.
"Thank you. It's beautiful."
He pulls you into a hug, stroking your hair before pulling your lips in for a kiss. A kiss so deep, so passionate it lit a fire throughout you. A kiss that tasted like goodbye. Your gaze matches his- pained, scared. He kisses your knuckles one last time before standing up. You whisper, "You're going to be one great king, Min." He smiles at you, "I love you, my darling ___."
"I love you too, Lee Seokmin."
As he disappears into the forest, leaving you alone by the stream, you squeeze the ornament in your neck. You'd probably never see him again but you held onto the last bit of hope.
Maybe you shouldn't have.
5 years later
Being invited to the royal palace by the queen is something you never even dreamt about. You still don't clearly know why you have been called- only being told that the queen wanted to see your designs. You wonder how the queen came to know about your small clothing shop and why someone like her would be interested in your work. You hands get more sweaty as the palace nears not only because you're gonna meet the queen but also you might, just might come across him.
Your first impression of the queen is that she looks far younger than her age. She carries a bright, youthful aura around her, the complete opposite of grumpy and reserved you expected her to be. She doesn't immediately get into business, rather asks you about yourself over tea.
"So your mother owned this shop?"
"Yes, your Highness, she used to make dresses. I learned from her and I wanted to continue what she started."
"I see. I have heard your name a lot and I could not resist calling you over to see myself. All the ladies in the palace say that you design their dresses and my God, are they beautiful." She speaks.
"It's really nothing, Your Highness."
"May I see your catalogue?"
"Of course."
-
You're in the middle of discussing a neckline with the queen when you're interrupted. The doors open to reveal none other than the king, Lee Seokmin.
Your heart jumps to your throat as your eyes meet his, your heart beat so loud that you're afraid it can be heard. Seokmin's eyes go large as they land on you, shock evident on his face.
He has changed, a lot. He isn't the cheerful 18 year old boy, no. He's grown taller, broader and the aura around him has completely changed. His face has structured beautifully, sharp nose and a defined jawline, a scar on his left cheek bone, black curls spread across his forehead. His crown glints amid his black locks, shiny and proud.
You swallow.
"Hello, son. What brings you to me?"
"Hello mother," he steps into the room after thoroughly eyeing you and embraces his mother. "I wanted to let you know that I'm going for hunting."
"At this hour? It's going to be dark soon."
"It's alright. I will be back before dinner."
"Okay," the queen smiles at him before gesturing to you, "Oh this is the designer I was talking about."
You abruptly stand stand up and bow, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Highness." Seokmin's eyes go hard on you before he nods and murmurs, "Likewise."
He bids goodbye to his mother before leaving as all the air returns to your lungs. You breathe a sigh of relief. The queen claps her hands, eyes twinkling, "So where were we?"
-
You can't deny when the queen asks to you spend the night at the palace, insisting that it's already too late to leave. Her servants show you out of her chambers and into your own room, providing you with towels and dresses to change into. The gigantic room leaves you breathless as you plop into the huge bed, collecting your thoughts. This night did not turn out the way you imagined. You've met Seokmin and now you can only pray that you won't meet him again.
-
Your prayers remain unanswered as the queen asks you join her for dinner and of course, Seokmin joins too. His hair is still damp from his bath as he takes a sit opposite to you in the large dining table, answering his mother's question about the hunting. You try to remain invisible the whole time, quickly finishing probably the best food you ever had in your life. You quickly excuse yourself from the dinning hall- staying at such a close proximity to Seokmin becoming unbearable for you and you rush into your room. However, you are not blessed.
"___,"A voice calls you before you can enter your room. A voice you know too well. You jump slightly and gulp before turning, "Y-your Highness." Seokmin stands in front of you, frowning, "That's not what you used to call me."
Oh my god. This could not be happening.
You stand quietly unsure what to say. Seokmin brusquely pulls you into your room and locks it before pressing you against the door. "Why are you avoiding me? Pretending like you do not know me?" He questions, titling your head up.
"I- I do not, Your Highness. We should not be doing this."
"What? Talking? You're joking right? Stop doing this, stop ignoring me, ___." He pleads.
You bite your lip, "What do you want me to do?"
"Talk to me. Where have you been? I've looked for you after my coronation. Where did you go? Why did you move?" His desperate eyes meet yours.
"Please, it doesn't matter anymore, Your Highness. It's in the past."
"Stop calling me that!" He snaps before sighing, taking off his crown and raking a hand through his hair. "Please, do not act like a stranger. It pains me."
Oh it pains you too. Unbearably.
"...We had to move, after the flood. Our house was destroyed and my father was sick. We went to live on the other side of the village." You whisper.
"How is he now? How's your parents?" Seokmin asks gently.
"My father passed away after the flood, he was sick. My mother died a couple years back." You reply.
"Oh darling," Seokmin whispers before engulfing you in his strong arms. He holds you tighter as you try to break free, "Don't resist me, darling. Please, let me hold you. I've looked for you myself for so long. I didn't even had a picture of you so I eventually had to stop the search. If only I found you earlier."
"It's okay...Seokmin." You whisper. "You are a king, you've a lot on your hands."
"Still, I gave up on you. I broke my promise."
"No, you didn't. A commoner such as myself should not be your concern."
"What?" Seokmin pulls back, hurt flashing in his eyes. "You are not a commoner, ___."
"It's okay. We're not teenagers anymore. You should not worry about an affair of five years ago." You push yourself away from him.
"An affair?" He whispers, "Is that what it really was? An affair? Do you really think so?"
"Yes!" You sigh, frustrated.
"No," Seokmin states before holding you by your arms. "No because you are still wearing my necklace. You still carry a piece of me with you. It was more than an affair and you know it, darling."
"But it doesn't change anything now, does it?" You question.
"I told you my love for you will never change, no matter who I am." He replies, cupping your cheek. You look away, all the emotions swirling inside you and you have no idea how to repress them. "Give me chance," Seokmin speaks, making you look at him. "Now that I have found you, I'm not going to let you go. Or...is it that- Are you betrothed to someone?"
"What? No!" You deny, blushing, "That's not it."
"Then there is nothing that can set us apart." He whispers. "Let me kiss you. Let me kiss away all the pain. Let me make everything okay."
You don't really get to reply before his lips encase yours, matching perfectly, like it did years ago. His tongue tangle with yours, moving in perfect sync as he tilts your head and controls the kiss. He kisses you like there's no tomorrow, like you're the most precious thing to him, until you both are out of breaths.
He spends the night with you, talking about nothing and everything, wrapped in each others arms. You cling to him dearly, like he's a lifesaver and for one night you let go of all your worries.
When he visits you next morning after tending to his royal duties, he has a blinding smile in his face, a contrast to what you were experiencing. "Why do you look so happy?" You ask tentatively.
"Why do you look so troubled?"
"I asked you first."
"Mother knows about us," Seokmin announces like it's the most natural thing. You gasp audibly, covering your mouth, "Oh my god!" "Easy! Why are you so worried?" Seokmin laughs.
"What do you mean Seokmin!" You howl. "Her Majesty knows about us! What are we going to do!"
"We're going to start planning our future, my darling," Seokmin smiles, pulling you close by the waist. "I'd say, it's a step easier for us."
"Wha-... I..."
"My mother may look naive but she's very sharp. She noticed how stressed I was during the dinner last night and the necklace on you. She recognized my work." Then he adds sheepishly, "Also, she knew I used to snuck away."
"Oh my God," You put your head in your hands. "So that's why she said that."
"Said what?" He frowns.
"I met her earlier this morning and she said that I'm welcome to stay here as long as I want." You murmur, blushing. Seokmin laughs, his eyes crinkling in happiness, "I guess there is nothing to hide now?"
You bite your lip, "Are you sure..Min? You're a king now and I'm just-"
"Hush" he plants a soft kiss on your lips. "You're the woman I've been looking for all these years, the love of my life. And now that I have you, I'm never, ever going to let you get away, darling."
You sigh, your eyes welling up, unable to process so much. Your simply rest your head on his shoulder, wrapping your arms around him. He smiles.
"Now we have a wedding to prepare for."
A/N: Hellooo~ and I'm back! So, I've always wanted to make a royal au and Seokmin seems like the perfect person, you know what I mean? I kinda wanted to make this more action themed but I couldn't put together an ending so I went with good ol' romance :'). Pls like and reblog if you enjoyed. Let me go |Harry Holland|
Pairing: Harry Holland x Therapist! Reader
A/N: so I'm not a therapist and I've never been to therapy, well if you don't consider the sessions with my psychology teacher. All of what I've written comes from what I've learnt in psychology class, reading books and listening to other people's experiences.
Warnings: talk about death, panic attack and it's just really sad
Word count: 3.3k, this is my longest fic yet :)
(Sorry for the shitty moodboard I just had to post this fic or I would have lost my mind)
Tumblr media
Harry Holland walked through the halls of the clinic, not really sure why he was here. Well he knew why he had come to see a therapist but he wondered how he put himself in this situation. He had been locking himself inside a glass cave built out of hopelessness for months, his friends and family were greatly concerned about him but he refused to take any help. He had always been stubborn, he never asked for anybody's help. He hated the look of pity on people's faces. He hated people showing him sympathy. He was more than this. He didn't need anybody. He can pull himself together, he just needed time.
But it wasn't helping. Burying your feelings in has never helped anybody. Putting on a smile everyday in front of people and crying himself to sleep, Harry found it more and more difficult. His mum had sensed it and told him to go and see a doctor. He had resisted it at first.
"Please do it for me, Harry. I cannot see you like this, at least for my satisfaction," Nikki had said. "Just go for a trial session and if you like it then you can continue," but of course he wasn't going to continue.
Now as he stood in front of the receptionist, he was reconsidering his decision.
"Yes, do you have an appointment, sir?"
"Huh?" he seemed lost. "Yeah..yeah"
"Just wait here, I'll inform Dr Y/l/n"
"Your know what, cancel the appointment. I- I don't need help"
"Oh but this is just a trial, Mr Holland"
"Yeah but I don't-" the receptionist was already at the door, muttering something to the woman inside.
You step outside to see a curly headed man, he looked pleasant but his eyes looked sad. Those were the eyes of a person who had seen immense grief, someone who had been miserable for a long long time.
"I'm sorry but I don't need therapy… I didn't realise this before, I -I shouldn't have come here"
"Oh Mr Holland, this is just a trial right? Let's just have some coffee. This isn't therapy yet" you smile at him.
"No I really-"
"Okay then, give me half an hour. If you still feel the same way, then you can leave. Half an hour is all I want from you, Mr Holland"
"Alright"
You lead him into your chamber, closing the door behind you. He sits down on a couch across from you, your desk separating you both. The first step of therapy- resistance. People always resist therapy at first, they feel like they don't need the help or maybe seeking help makes them weak. They don't feel like opening up to a complete stranger. How can they? How can they open up their most vulnerable state to a person who they barely know? But slowly and steadily, a rapport is made. A therapist has to be very careful and empathetic. They have to be trusting. Someone who people can turn to. Someone who they can relate to. Someone who understands them. Someone who would just listen.
"So, your mother sent you here. Right, Mr Holland?"
"Just- just call me Harry"
"Okay then Harry, tell me"
"What do you want me to tell you?"
"Everything. Start from the beginning"
"Well I- do you… do you really think I would-" he hesitates. "Who do you think you are? Why do you think I should pay you to listen to my goddamn life story here?"
"You're not here to tell me your life story," you say politely. "I'm here to help you and I can do that only if you would let me"
"Well guess what? You cannot help me, I knew I was wasting my time," he gets up and starts to walk away.
"I asked for half an hour of your time, Harry"
"Well I don't fucking care"
"Harry, please listen to me. All I ask is half an hour"
Little did he know, this half an hour was going to change his life.
Something about your tone made him stay. He sat back down on the couch, turning away from you.
"Okay, so if you're not going to talk, I will," you sigh. "So, you have suffered a great loss, someone you loved dearly?"
"Yes," he still didn't look you in the eye.
"Who was it?"
"My…my friend. Girlfriend"
"And when did this happen?"
"A year ago"
"How have you been holding up?"
He thought of giving another vague answer. How the fuck do you think I'm holding up? I'm fucking dying every single day.
"Uh- it's been a little better, I guess. It's not as bad as it used to be"
"Well that's a start. And do you still think about her?"
Every goddamn minute, lady. What do you want from me? "Yeah sometimes"
"And how have you been sleeping?"
I can't sleep. I haven't slept properly for months. If I sleep I see her coming back to me. "Alright I guess"
This wasn't going anywhere. You thought of recommending him another doctor but something about him charmed you. He was a man who should have been living a great life but his grief was tearing him apart. You had to help him. You felt a strong connection to him, you felt determined. No, I have to help him. I just have to.
"Harry, do you feel like you're responsible for your girlfriend's death?" it was a straightforward question, you had been trying to get something out of him but he wasn't ready to.
He looked at you dead in the eye, yet could not get any words out. You could sense the anger building up inside him but it wasn't projected at you, he was angry with himself.
"I….. " he took a few deep breaths, clenching his hands into fists. "Yes"
"Why is that so?"
"Fucking hell! Are you for real? She died, okay? And I wasn't there… I wasn't there.. " he was tearing up. "I should have been the one to die! Not her! Not anybody! Everyone just leaves me in the end!" he was full on shouting, letting out everything he had been holding inside himself for a whole year. He had tears in his eyes.
You handed him a box of tissues and he was gasping for breath. When he had calmed down, you both sat in silence for a few minutes.
"You know, Harry, my friend died the day we had a fight. She was my best friend. I knew her ever since we were three. It was a silly argument. We should not have fought about it. But we did and I told her I wished she would just go away… and then she did" it was painful for you to remember this, but time does heal everything.
"I'm sorry," his voice was low. "And I'm sorry for all those things I said"
"No it's alright, that's what you're here for. And besides, it's nothing compared to your loss, Harry"
"No. It- it's not a competition. Suffering is not a competition. It must've been really hard for you, Dr y/l/n," this was the first time he had addressed you.
"Call me y/n," you smile at him. "And yeah that's very true. We often blame ourselves, you know, it's very common. We cannot be angry at them so we get angry with ourselves. Even though we know deep in our hearts that there was nothing we could have done"
There was a long silence.
"She went out for a drive, that bastard drunk driver," he spoke up. "And I was just resting. She asked me so many times to join her but I wanted to sleep"
You nod at him and he continued. "That's…the reason I'm not able to sleep. Every night I close my eyes, I think I'll wake up to that phone call"
"Well yes I don't blame you, our brains sometimes don't process things that come as a shock. And then it just keeps on haunting us forever. Do you believe in life after death, Harry?"
"Well I don't know what to believe"
"Have you- felt her? After she was gone?"
"You'll think I'm crazy"
"I'm a therapist, it'll take you much more than that to convince me you're crazy"
"I sometimes talk to her. Like what would she think about this particular situation. Or just that I miss her so much. I don't get any responses but I just try to think like her?"
"Yeah, that's quite normal actually. People think they need to 'get over' someone's death. But that's not true. You can never really get over something like death"
"And what does getting over even mean? Like you just forget them? Moving on with your life just means that you think they were never a part of it"
"Well you're both right and wrong. Yes we must remember our loved ones who are not with us anymore but at the same time, we have to let them go"
"How? It's too painful"
"I know. But do you believe in the concept of souls, Harry?"
"Yeah I mean," he shrugs.
"The soul is considered to be immortal. And groups of souls tend to travel together. Even if you don't know it, some way, somehow, they're always with us"
He says nothing but his eyes looked softer now.
"And just think about it, think of her seeing you like this. Do you think she could have handled you being so miserable?"
"She would have been heartbroken"
"Exactly. So do it for her, for yourself. For both of you to feel peace again"
"Yeah"
You look at your watch. Half an hour was up.
"So, Harry. Your half an hour is up. Is there anything else?"
"Yes, um we can talk about it in our next session?"
You smile at him. "Of course"
                          ----------------
After that one half an hour session, Harry was a changed man. He was still mourning, he was still miserable but he had hope. For the first time in a long time, he thought he could actually go on with his life, he could finally feel peace.
The week went by smoothly. Harry tried to make himself busy, by surrounding himself with people and always working. He was still getting nightmares but he was determined to sleep. He was sleeping light, afraid of what deep sleep might show him.
Meanwhile your life was exactly the same, you went on with your day treating people, talking, helping them. You loved your job, you loved the sense of satisfaction you got after patients they told you they were finally better. Every person was a challenge, and you knew there was a gem hidden inside every one of them. All of them had immense potential but life hadn't been kind to them. You felt disturbed and it broke your heart to see people hurting. And you would do anything to make it better for them. To help them.
You couldn’t keep Harry out of your mind. You were thinking about him all day long, awaiting your next session with him. What if he cancels? What can I do if he does? Why am I thinking about him? He had this air around him, a magnetic pull, which was pulling your closer and closer towards him. And why is he so damn attractive? No I should not think about him that way. It was the first and foremost rule of your profession. Never get emotionally attached with your clients. It was a professional relationship and must remain that way.
When he came into your office the following week, you could sense the change in him. You felt proud that a single session made such a difference. There was no arrogance in him, he didn’t seem angry anymore. He was calm and better.
“So, Harry. How was your week?”
“It was good, I’ve been shooting my new short film and it’s coming out to be okay so far”
“Alright and how have you been sleeping?”
“Not that good to be honest. I still get dreams, uh bad dreams”
“What do you see in these dreams?”
“I see the accident scene….again and again, it’s the same dream. Sometimes I see her, she talks to me and all that”
“Hmm and have you talked to your family? Your friends?”
“Yeah I talked to my mum…and my brother”
“What did they say?”
“They said they are here for me and will always love me”
“Yes and I don’t doubt that, Harry. You have a lot of people in your life who love and support you. Embrace that”
The session went by smoothly, he opened up to you about his life, everything about the girl he loved so much. About his family, his career. You found yourself staring at him, taking glances at his hands which he constantly moved while he talked. You noticed he was shaking his leg the whole time. Stop staring, y/n.
Wow she’s so beautiful. And thoughtful. And funny and understanding. What am I doing? She’s my therapist….but…why couldn’t I have met her before? Why didn’t I meet her when I was normal? Would things have been different? But then again, I would have never met her if I was normal.
Things seemed to get better, as the weeks progressed, Harry was becoming more and more like his old self again. But there was a feeling of regret, he thought this was wrong as if he were forgetting her. But you were there to guide him, to tell him that this is what life is. It never stops. No matter what happens, you will heal. Someday, sometime. And each day we progress towards it.
And then it happened. The call came at 1 am in the morning. You were sleeping and you were tired, you had been working all day and just needed some rest. You wouldn't have picked the call up but something told you it was important. That you should pick it up.
“Hello?” you yawn.
You just hear muffled breathing for a few seconds.
“Hello? Who is it?”
“It…it’s me…Harry”
“Harry, what’s wrong?” you thought what could have happened at this time of the night.
“I just- can you-” he sounded like he was choking.
“Harry what’s wrong, you’re scaring me”
“I… can’t… breathe,” you hear him sobbing. ”I had… that… dream, I feel like I’m…going to…die”
“Harry, listen to me. You will be okay. Yeah? Just take deep breaths and sit tight. I’m coming to you”
You search through his file to look for his address. When you find it, you rush through the front door and drive to his house. You were on the phone with him the whole drive.
“Just keep breathing, Harry. Deep breaths, okay?”
To your surprise, the front door was unlocked. It looked like he had gone out into the street in the middle of the night. You search through rooms to find him, and you see him curled into a ball at the corner of a king size bed. You touch his shoulder and he flinches.
“Hey, hey it’s just me. It’s alright”
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know who else to call,” he was crying, with the tears streaming down his cheeks, his eyes looked small and they looked red from the lack of sleep and of tears.
“It’s alright, Harry. Just come here, it’ll be alright,” you pull him towards yourself him and he buries his face into your chest and you held him, stroking his hair and telling him it will be alright.
“That’s it. Let it out, Harry. It’s okay to cry”
You both stayed like that for another 15 minutes. He couldn’t stop crying and you knew he needed that. He had been holding everything in for so long and it just came out like an explosion tonight. You wiped his tears and made him meditate for a few minutes.
He fell asleep and you stayed up all night, looking at him. He looked so innocent while he slept, and cute too, you thought hiding a blush, even though nobody was there to look at you.
That night, Harry finally felt at peace. He was finally able to sleep. He had no nightmares, just a peaceful dream. He saw his girlfriend, running away from him in a white dress with her hair flowing in the wind.
Please don’t leave me, darling. I love you.
I know you do Harry, but you must let me go. I will always be with you. I will always love you. It is time you start caring about yourself, you must let me go. It is time.
No! don’t leave me!
And he woke up. Something about this dream told him that she was right. It was time. He was finally ready to let her go. For both of their sakes.
He went down to find you sleeping on the couch. He was hesitant at his thoughts but deep down he knew he was falling for you. Am I just using her to cope with my loss? Or do I really love her?
You opened your eyes, looking at Harry sitting on the ground, pushing a strand of hair away from your face.
“Good morning, how did you sleep?”
“Better. Really really better. I- I don’t know how to thank you, y/n and I’m so sorry”
“Hey it’s alright, and I’m glad I could help,” you smile. “I should go now, I have to get to work”
“Let me make breakfast and let me drive you to your house”
“Oh no it’s okay I can-”
“I owe this much to you, y/n. Let me”
“Okay”
                              -----------------
It wasn’t until another week when Harry had his next session. You had been thinking about him all the time, you were confused, it wasn’t supposed to go this way. But he….who am I kidding I’m in love with him.
When he walked through the door on a Thursday morning next week, he looked healthy and happier than ever. You felt a sense of happiness yourself, therapy is always beneficial to both the patient and the therapist. Every person is a deep universe, their thoughts, experiences, pain, joy, everything. Empathising with clients is a great learning experience, it becomes a part your personality. It becomes a part of you.
“Hey y/n”
“Hi Harry”
“So my week as been as it’s always and I’ve been feeling a lot better ever since that day…and that dream” he had told you about the dream he had the night you watched him sleep. He seemed to completely change after that, he let go of the intense emotions he had been carrying around.
“That’s very good and you’ve made a lot of progress since our first meeting”
“Yeah…I have”
The session went on as usual, he talked about everything that happened, he started fighting with his brothers again, which he hadn’t done in a long time and even though they were pissed off at him, they were happy to have him back.
“Um Harry,” you say at the end of the session. “I think-” you try to choose your words correctly. “I think it’s about time you start seeing another therapist, yeah?”
You see his face drop. “wh-why? I’m doing so much better, is..is it because of that night? I’m so sorry y/n”
“No it’s not that. You and I both know what’s happening between us, it’s wrong for a therapist to get emotionally attached with her patient. I’m sorry, Harry”
“So you’re saying that you’re becoming emotionally attached with me?”
“I..I’m-“
“It’s alright. I understand y/n”
“Yes, thank you. This has been great”
“So… now that you’re not my therapist, can I meet you for coffee this evening?”
“Harry-“
“Half an hour, Dr y/l/n. Just give me half an hour of your time, if you still feel the same way, I’ll never bother you again”
“Uh-" you hesitate. You knew you should have said no. You were going to say no. Yet the words which came out of your mouth were “Okay then, it’s a date”
Another Long Day
Got a speed pain vid planned soon but in the mean time, have some Furufumi x Kiome
Enjoy~
 It's 5 o'clock and his migraine has yet to subside. Furufumi gazes absentmindedly at the store's clock.
"Just three more hours..."He mumbles to himself. Three more hours of obnoxious customers fluttering about haphazardly taking books they don't ever intend to read only to stuff them away randomly instead of going back to where they got it. Three hours of them blatantly ignoring the giant red 'NO FOOD' sign at the door, and him having to clean up half empty latte cups, and whatever crumbs found their way onto the shelves.. Just three more hours... great.
Some days Furufumi really hated his job. He was the natural born opposite of a people person, and has often considered quitting in search of something more... secluded. Alas he can't leave now, someone has to take care of the knowledge stored within these books.
The boy lets out an audible sigh as another group of customers make their way through the glass door- surely to cause disorder in their wake. Furufumi puts on his most approachable expression as he greets them.
"Evening, I hope you find what you're looking for without trouble, please don't hesitate to call for help if you need it.." A blatant lie, please don't call him.
"Oh no thanks, just here to grab a magazine-" Somehow that responce annoys him more than the thought of being forced to leave from behind the counter. Furufumi responds with a curt nod before making the transaction as quickly as possible. Money- receipt- product.
'Now Leave-'
"Have a nice evening, and come again!!"
'Please don't come back'
Some time passes before he finds himself taking another look at the clock, a sigh of relief escaping his lips.
'Just 30 more minutes..' The boy takes a much needed stretch as a stifled yawn forces its way out. Man he needed a nap. His phone vibrates from his breast pocket, and without looking Furufumi can already tell who it is. He pulls it out to view the apparent message, taking a moment to admire his most recent lock screen. It's the two of them, out by the boardwalk, he can't help the smile that sneaks its way onto his features.
Tumblr media
Furufumi finds himself hiding a deepening blush at reading those words. It was such a small gesture- something that was common for them to do, yet it never failed to send the Brunettes heart aflutter. It gives him the strength to trudge through those last 30 minutes, which seemed to be passing much faster now that he had something to look forward to.
He responds with a heart, maybe two.... maybe four before putting his phone away. Being honest he barely hears the next customer's request as his mind is far off in a distant bed...
--
The air's a tad chilly as Furufumi locks up for the night, but he pays it no mind. With his keys secure the boy paces his way to the bus stop, soft music flowing through his head phones with a soft, sweet melody..
Hello Darlin, How Ya doin-
Keep me on my toes-
But i'm still movin-
The bus ride home is blissfully uneventful, allowing the Brunette to sit and gaze out at the golden hued sunset. Absentmindedly day dreaming...
Hello Darlin, How ya doin-
From just outside the door, Furufumi can already smell the savory aromas of whatever his better half had prepared. Stepping in fully, the scent graces his senses in full force.
"Ah- Tempura!"He says to himself in realization. His coat and boots are quickly displaced as the Brunette slips into his house shoes- making a beeline straight for the kitchen. There he finds Kiome clad in their checkered apron humming wistfully as they tended to the food upon the stove.
"One Sec~" With a gentle flick of the stove's knob its fire dies out leaving the gentle smells of fried fish, vegetables and freshly steamed rice pouring through the room. Being as forward as they were- Kiome takes no time in removing their apron and swooping their darling up in a gentle embrace.
"Feels like it's been forever..."It's only been a day or so at most, yet Furufumi doesn't bother to reply, he simply hugs back and embraces the warmth of it all.
"Oi- you look so tired.."The concern in Kiome's voice is touching, almost like a worried mother- the thought brings a light chuckle to Furufumi's lips.
"No no- I... just had a long day.."He's sure he looks ragged, frazzled hair bag riddled eyes, but honestly- he couldn't be happier right now.
"Just glad to see you~"They pull back, and Furufumi marvels at how naturally his hands rest around Kiome's hips. Just the closeness  itself was enough to undo all of his work induced stress. They bring a warm slightly calloused hand to caress his cheek, and the Brunette all but melts in their touch. The feeling erupts from his core and rushes almost directly to his face, his features rivaling that of a fresh picked rose. The way their lips meet is slow, soft- almost methodical in motion. The hint of chocolate laced on Kiome's lips leave him there longer than he intended.
"C'mon- you must be hungry~"As if on que Furufumi's belly erupts a subtle growl, he'd almost forgotten about dinner entirely.
--
Furufumi can't begin to describe how good it feels to stretch out on the bed, he and Kiome nestled together under their large comforter. Some movie marathon plays quietly in the background. His glasses are resting on the bedside table so he's barely paying any attention to the T.v. Instead the soft melodic motion of Kiome's hands running through his hair lull him into a half daze. He can hear their heartbeat in a slow, constant rhythm, and swears it's the most beautiful sound he's ever heard.
Instinctively he nuzzles further into their chest, letting their heartbeat guide his breathing in tandem, and as the Brunette drifts off to dream yet again, an expression he muses often bubbles up from his mind
"Why can't every day feel as good as this..." It's no more than a half mumbled whisper, yet Kiome hears- through his soul he hears it loud and clear.
"Me too hun- me too"
There they lie, a couple of hearts, a bundle of souls, lying in a moment's reprieve, no doubt dreaming of each other...
FIN
Thank you all for reading! As always Comments and reviews are much appreciated- help me improve uwu
Mermaid story: is this like mdoenr times or like in the past cause mermaid x royalty where the mermaid society takes a royal because the sea port kingdom polluting the waters and taking all of the fish is 👌
Plus I want someone who can do. Something
Or is it more rougeish the human is an Outsider to the pulling group or a low level member and with the help mermaids essentially forces them to stop fucking with the waters
Orrrrr a tragedy where the eprosn they pick can't do anything and they must watch their lover die.
so i think i wanna veer away from royal love interests bc that's such a common theme in mermaid fantasy esp yknow given the little mermaid retellings and all. and i am kind of enamored by the idea of some totally normal human being thrust into this world and having to contend with its makeup and trauma like i was reminded a bit of gregor from the underland chronicles (the lesser known children's series by suzanne collins of the hunger games fame) because he's just some guy living in a new york apartment and all of a sudden he finds himself in the underland and is prophesied to be their savior and has to kill a (giant sized) baby rat in order to do so. sabrina from the sisters grimm also evokes similar tendencies there's just something about an ordinary human being dumped with another world's problems and maybe a sword to slash through all the evils it's cliched perhaps but can pull a lot of nuance and depth if you put the effort in
the only caveat i have is what i want to entail by the mermaids needing humans. like at first i thought maybe the mermaids bind themselves to humans and then force them to do their climate justice bidding on the surface but that also feels very long winded and impractical and i'm not trying to write a social justice manifesto like i am all for climate change but i'll leave that stuff to the experts yfeel. so then i got the idea that maybe to insert that sense of tragedy i oh so dearly love, what if mermaids bind themselves to humans bc they have the power to take upon the characteristics and form of whatever they kiss if it kisses back, and if their world dies out one day then they'd need to assimilate with humans? idk it's a very rough idea and not very clearly thought out not to mention it just kind of gives up on hope for mermaids LMAO so i need to brainstorm more beyond that. these are all very fledgling ideas as you can tell and funnily enough this is why i normally tend to steer away from writing fantasy bc worldbuilding is a headache ajfkljdslgjhsgfd
The Girl Out of Time
Pairing: Bucky x Reader and Sam x Reader
Background: Willow Roffe was born and raised in Brooklyn. She lived her life as happily as she could with her two childhood best friends Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers. When they both left her to join the military she tried to continue with life but that didn't get to happen for her for the simple fact that she meant something to James Buchanan Barnes.
Rating: Story will be overall MATURE but not every chapter. There will be strong language, talk of both mental and physical abuse, some good ole angst, and smut. There will be a warning at the beginning of the chapter when it includes smut.
Chapter 25
Tumblr media
I stayed in my seat next to Steve. He was flipping threw the accords now. Sam has gotten up to stand behind us next to Rhodey. Then he had to make a smart comment sending Rhodey into a tangent.
"Secretary Ross has a Congressional Medal of Honor which is one more than you have." Rhodey snapped at him.
"So let's say we agree to this thing. How long is it gonna be before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals?" Sam asked harshly.
I turned in my seat to watch the two. Rhodey sighed as he rubbed his eyes.
"117 countries want to sign this. 117, Sam, and you're just like, 'No, that's cool. We got it.'" Rhodey said sarcastically.
"How long are you going to play both sides?" Sam asked narrowing his eyes at the other man.
"I have an equation." Vision spoke up.
"Oh, this will clear it up." Sam said rolling his eyes.
I turned to face the once AI who was sitting next to Wanda.
"In the eight years since Mr. Stark announced himself as Iron Man the number of known enhanced persons has grown exponentially. During the same period the number of potentially world-ending events has risen at a commensurate rate." Vision explained.
"Are you saying it's our fault?" Steve asked as he looked up from the page he was reading.
"I'm saying there may be a causality. Our very strength invites challenge. Challenge invites conflict. And conflict breeds catastrophe. Oversight, oversight is not an idea that can be dismissed out of hand." Vision said slowly.
"Boom" Rhodey whispered towards Sam.
"Tony. You're being uncharacteristically non-hyper verbal." Nat said.
I looked over to Tony who was slouched in his seat on the couch rubbing his head.
"It's because he's already made up his mind." Steve said as he flipped a page.
"Boy, you know me so well." Tony groaned as he got up.
"Actually, I'm nursing an electromagnetic headache. That's what's going on, Cap. It's just pain. It's discomfort." Tony said as he walked into the kitchen.
"Who's putting coffee grounds in the disposal? Am I running a bed and breakfast for a biker gang?" He asked harshly.
He turned away from the sink then tossed something onto the counter. A holographic picture of a young boy came up. Tony took a deep breath.
"Oh, that's Charles Spencer, by the way. He's a great kid. Computer engineering degree, 3.6 GPA, had a floor level gig at Intel planned for the fall. But first, he wanted to put a few miles on his soul before he parked it behind a desk. See the world. Maybe be of service. Charlie didn't want to go to Vegas or Fort Lauderdale which is what I would do. He didn't go to Paris or Amsterdam, which sounds fun. He decided to spend his summer building sustainable housing for the poor. Guess where. Sokovia. He wanted to make a difference, I suppose. We won't know because we dropped a building on him while we were kicking ass." Tony took another deep breath.
Even though I wasn't even close to Sokovia I still felt partly at fault. I felt guilty for everything that had happened even if I wasn't apart of it.
"There's no decision-making process here. We need to be put in check! Whatever form it takes, I'm game. If we can't accept limitations, if we're boundary-less we're no better than the bad guys." Tony's voice fell into a soft and exhausted tone.
"Tony, someone dies on your watch, you don't give up." Steve said sternly.
"Who said we're giving up?" Tony asked raising a brow at Steve.
"We are if we're not taking responsibility for our actions. This document just shifts the blame." Steve said as he tossed the papers back onto the table.
"I'm sorry, Steve. That is dangerously arrogant. This is the United Nations we're talking about. It's not the World Security Council, it's not Shield, it's not Hydra." Rhodey explained.
"No, but it's run by people with agendas, and agendas change." Steve said simply.
"That's good. That's why I'm here. When I realized what my weapons were capable of in the wrong hands I shut it down and stopped manufacturing." Tony told him as he walked around the counter.
“Tony, you chose to do that. If we sign this, we surrender our right to choose. What if this panel sends us somewhere we don’t think we should go? What if there’s somewhere we need to go and they don’t let us? We may not be perfect, but the safest hands are still our own.” Steve tried to explain.
“If we don’t do this now, it’s gonna be done to us later. That’s the fact. That won’t be pretty.” Tony said simply.
“You’re saying they’ll come for me.” Wanda said softly.
“We would protect you.” Vision told her.
“Maybe Tony’s right. If we have one hand on the wheel, we can still steer. If we take it off-“ Nat started to explain.
“Aren’t you the same woman who told the government to kiss her ass a few years ago?” Sam asked.”
I glanced over to Steve who looked absolutely exhausted. I knew he didn’t want this. He looked like he was wracking his brain for anything to say to convince the others.
“I’m just reading the terrain. We have made some very public mistakes. We need to win their trust back.” Nat told Sam.
“Focus up. I’m sorry. Did I just mishear you or did you agree with me?” Tony asked in his normal sarcasm.
“I want to take it back now.” Nat practically groaned.
“No, you can’t retract it. Thank you. Unprecedented. Okay. Case closed. I win.” Tony shrugged happily.
A soft buzzing had me looking down at Steve’s lap. He pulled his phone out then read over the words on the screen. His entire demeanor changed.
“I have to go.” He said then immediately left the room without another word.
“What?” Tony asked after he was already gone.
I looked back to see Sam already watching me. I’m sure he could tell something was up as well. We both made our way out of the room to try to find Steve. He hadn’t gotten that far. By the time we got out to the sidewalk he was standing there with red puffy eyes. I ran straight to him pulling him into me for a hug.
“She’s gone. Peggy’s gone.” He said softly.
Sam and I both decided to join Steve for the funeral. Neither of us wanted him to be alone. The three of us sat in the front pew. Steve was squeezed between us. I watched as Sharon, the “nurse” that lived down the hall from Steve and I, stepped up to the podium.
“Margret Carter was known to most as a founder of Shield but I just knew her as Aunt Peggy.” She started.
I glanced at Steve who looked completely surprised by her statement.
“She has a photograph in her office. Aunt Peggy standing next to JFK. As a kid, that was pretty cool. But it was a lot to live up to. Which is why I never told anyone we were related.” Sharon glanced at Steve as if she was talking directly to him.
“I asked her once how she managed to master diplomacy and espionage in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. She said, compromise where you can. But where you can’t, don’t. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree look them in the eye and say no, you move.” Sharon said with as much passion as Steve.
She was one hell of a speech giver. If that speech effected me I can only imagine what it did to Steve. I had a feeling Sharon’s words just concreted everything Steve had been thinking about. When the service was over Sam and I stood outside to give Steve his moment alone. Nat came jogging up to church steps toward us.
“So?” I asked.
“It’s done.” She nodded.
“He’s inside” Sam told her.
She nodded then walked in to find Steve.
“What now?” I asked Sam.
“I have a feeling we’re just getting started.” He huffed as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
I had the same feeling. After all this I’m sure Steve wasn’t going to back down.
Hello, I just came across your page and I love your work! I was wondering if you did do a Calum Hood x reader where the reader is a photographer and Calum sees her photographing a model as he's walking by and he's really smitten and intrigued by her, and maybe asks her on a date? If you can't do it it's ok , thank you so much! 🌼💕
thanks for your request!! I hope you like it, but if you don’t let me know and I can try again 😊
You went into today feeling great. You had a model that you’d previously worked with and usually that made things go way smoother. However, once you arrived on set, you realized that fate was not on your side today. The lens you usually relied on most had fallen out of your bag, and the clip broke, so it wouldn’t even attach to your camera anymore. Then, you noticed that your extra battery hadn’t been charging all night like you’d thought, so that was just great.
If you hadn’t previously known the girl you were shooting, she would’ve thought that you were utterly unprofessional. Instead, she patiently waited while you scrambled to make things work. There was a café across the street from the park, and the young barista graciously offered to charge your battery in the back until the first one died.
The lens thing wasn’t the end of the world, you could just get more close-ups than you were planning or use your wider lens with higher zoom. Finally, an hour after you’re supposed to start, you’re ready to go. The park had been noticeably emptier when you arrived, so you’d have to do more editing to get good shots, but that wasn’t the worst thing that had happened so far.
Once you started taking pictures, you got into your zone, and you were feeling good again. Your model was absolutely breathtaking. She was a dancer, so naturally, people started gathering behind you to watch her as she leaped and bounded. She was feeding off of being everyone’s center of attention.
Well, almost everyone.
Calum was watching from afar. He thought the model was fantastic, but you were the one who caught his eye first. Despite the crowd you two had drawn, you were just as much in your element as you were when you started. You maneuvered through the people well even though Calum thought that’d be annoying to anyone else. When your hair fell into your face, you blew it upwards and kept going.
He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t take his eyes off of you. In fact, he found himself smiling with you when you got a good shot and lowered the camera to give encouragement to your model. Calum never once could tell that you’d had a rough start.
Calum was perched on a bench not too far away but out of sight to you. He didn’t want to leave, but he had plans with Ashton in twenty minutes. Calum nervously tapped his feet against the concrete. He really wanted to stay.
The loud sound of your laugh pulled him out of his thoughts. It was like all of the people crowding around you had been muted because you were all he could hear. The sound was music to his ears, and he decided that Ashton could wait. Calum stood up abruptly and took a few steps away. Ashton isn’t that upset, but Calum promises to make it up to him soon.
When he turns back around, you’re gone. The crowd has already started to disperse, and Calum’s eyes widen. Did he miss his chance? He feels panicked even though he doesn't know you.
Calum makes his way down to the fountain where you had set up, but even all of the camera equipment is gone. He tries to listen to the conversations around him, but no one seems to be talking about it anymore. It’s like you weren’t ever there to begin with. There’s no way he imagined all of that.
His shoulders slump a bit as he takes a seat on the edge of the fountain. A sigh leaves his lips. There was something about you that really intrigued him. His mood went from high to low in a matter of minutes.
Just as he’s about to call Ashton and ask if they can still hang out he sees you. You’ve just exited the coffee shop across the street. Your model has changed into pointe shoes, and it looks like you’re both heading right towards him.
Calum tries to think of something he can say to start a conversation, but his mind comes up blank. Five minutes ago, he was ready to ask you on a date, and now he can’t even say two words.
“Hey, do you mind moving so we can take some pictures in the fountain?” You ask politely. The man sitting in front of you is cute. Despite looking at you like he’s just been asked to solve a complicated math problem, his long curls and brown eyes are charming.
“Hello?” You say, wondering why he hadn’t answered yet. He blinks a few times before he opens and then shuts his mouth.
“What?” Calum stutters, he thought you were beautiful from far away and now that you’re right in front of him he’s even more awestruck.
“We were going to take pictures in the fountain, so unless you want to be a model for today we kind of need you to move.” You give him a small smile, and he looks from you to your model and then back to you. It’s humoring.
“Oh, I don’t think- Yeah, I’ll move. Sorry.” Calum quickly stands and steps out of the way. He hesitates for a moment, but you’ve already directed the dancer where to go, so he decides it’s time to get out of the way.
Calum takes his spot back on the bench he started on. He waits another forty-five minutes. Occasionally he looks up to see if you’re still there, but he doesn’t watch as intently as he did before because now that you’ve seen him it might be weird. He doesn’t notice that your eyes have wandered to him more than a couple of times. If you weren’t working, you probably would’ve asked him his name or tried to start a conversation.
Calum pretty much jumps up when he notices that you’re starting to pack up your things. You took your time, hoping he’d come back over, and slowly, he does.
You turn around to head to your car when he’s standing right behind you. “Oh, hey, again.”
Even though his hearts pounding, he smiles,” Hey, I’m Calum. I just noticed that you seem to really love what you do. It was refreshing to watch.”
The smile that spreads across your face makes Calums hands sweaty. He can’t believe he feels this way about someone he’s said maybe thirty words to. It’s like a high school crush even though he’s been out of high school for a long time.
“That’s so kind of you, thank you. Do you do any modeling?” You zip up your last bag and sling it over your shoulder. Calum visibly blushes, but he’s shocked.
“Oh wait, I meant like because you seem like a person that knows a few things about photography. Like I could’ve had a simple smile on my face the whole time, and someone would’ve thought I loved it when I was just polite. I didn’t mean it as a compliment.” There’s a brief pause in her words.
“Damn it, I do think you’re attractive, and you’re definitely model material, but obviously I keep making a fool of myself. Maybe I should go.” You take a step to the side, so he’s not in your path anymore, but he gently reaches a hand out and rests it on your arm.
“I’m in a band, so I guess we do some modeling for the artwork of albums and things like that. Actually, I originally came over to ask you out on a date. Are you free now?”
You look at this gorgeous boy in front of you. He’s hoping you don’t reject him probably, but you’d be stupid to. He knows a thing or two about cameras so you’re sure that you two would have some things in common.
“I have another client for a sunset photoshoot, but it’s only one, so I think I’ve got a little bit.” You quirk your lip up a little bit as if to tease him. “My name is Y/N.”
Calum holds out an arm like a goof, but you take it willingly. He’s never been so glad that he canceled plans and trusted his gut.
Umbrella academy fiction
Chapter 1
Canon and OC; Deigo x OC, Klaus x OC platonic
*as always I do not own any part of the canon characters or show. I am merely writing my own adaptation to the storyline. Nor do I own any gifs/gif credit.
**I do own all things related to the OCs and additional story elements. And apologies, I couldn't find any "young" gifs of them, but they are all meant to be young adults to show age in this fic.
On a typical sunny day in 1989 a girl was born under extraordinary circumstances - her mother beginning the day not pregnant and ending it with a newborn girl. Reginald Hargreaves was unable to purchase their gift from God, but as fate would have she would still become linked to the obsessive billionaire through Klaus, his disappointing Number Four.
One fateful night in her bar thrust the two into each other's life and they soon became close friends, their tragic pasts a common denominator. Emily tried to aid her friend and his family in thwarting the apocalypse, but her life ultimately lost when the shit inevitably hit the fan.
This is not that story.
Our story takes place five years after the Hargreaves family jumped back in time after unsuccessfully saving the world; bringing with them all the knowledge gained from their first chance at life.
-----
"I'm telling you Diego. We can do this," Klaus said pleadingly to his brother. "She said if she had only gotten out a few years earlier, she would have had a better chance at life. We can give her that chance."
Diego stopped just outside his room. He eyed Klaus as he begged for him to agree.
"Please Diego. She is...was my friend," he corrected himself. This time travel thing was hard to get used to. "I owe it to her to at least try."
It was true that Emily had been as good a friend as someone could to Klaus back then. He'd beena raging drug addict who brought nothing but chaos. There weren't many people who could handle something like that. She'd been one of the few; even managing to get him into rehab a few times.
Not that it had mattered. Klaus had a standing bed there back then and the staff a running pool on how short his next break would last.
But it had been obvious she at least cared for him. And that was more than Diego could say for himself. Klaus was his brother and he had given two shits at the time if he lived or died.
"Fine," he finally agreed.
"Yes!" Klaus said quietly, but triumphantly.
With his second time around, he wanted to get it right. Make amends for his previous infractions.
Starting with this.
"But we do this my way. You got it," he said definitively, getting close enough to stop Klaus' little victory dance. He wanted to make sure his brother understood just how serious he was.
"Got it," Klaus said with a mock salute. "If I remember correctly, right around now would be the 'Halloween lockdowns' as Em liked to call it," Klaus said with a small smirk Diego's way.
His brother looked at him confused "Lockdowns? Where is she? A prison?"
Oh, that's right. He doesn't know.
It had taken Klaus awhile to pull what nuggets she had revealed of her past. He knew, without a doubt, Diego hadn't gotten shit out of her. The few times they'd met his brother was partial to being an asshole to anyone who even remotely took Klaus' side and she had been no different.
"She's at a religious boarding school," Klaus explained quickly. "A real scared straight kinda one. From what she told me though, the night before Halloween the nuns do one final sweep of the grounds, leaving the front door unlocked."
"Pfft. Morons," Diego huffed, the fact that he was speaking of godly women lost to him completely. "So it's a dash and grab. Easy."
"Yeeaa...about that," Klaus began tentatively. Diego had only just agreed to spring Emily from Hell.
"What?" Diego asked lowly. He knew he shouldn't have gotten his hope up so easily. Nothing was ever so cut and dry with Klaus.
"She's also, sort of, kinda in her own lockdown. We may need Five to help us too," he added reluctantly. "Which is fine," he quickly continued, keeping Diego from immediately changing his mind. "Ever since we got back Five has really been a team player. I'm sure if our little heist idea came from you he'd be on board. A hundred percent."
Diego couldn't take this shit with Klaus a second go 'round. He wanted to break Emily out of school? Fine. He needed Diego's help? Also, peachy fuckinf keen. But if he insisted on keeping secrets along the way then Diego would walk his happy ass on out the door and Klaus could go fuck himself.
He grabbed hold of his brother, who flinched more from shock than fear, and drug him into his room, away from listening ears. He tossed his brother onto his bed as gently as he could. Klaus watched as he pulled his desk chair over, sitting on it backward and leaning against it.
"Before I ask Five anything you are gonna spill your guts and give me all the Intel you have on Emily. Otherwise, I'm out and you're on your own."
Klaus groaned with Diego's ultimatum. "Fine," he grumbled. "I'll tell you everything. But you have to swear you'll get Five to help no matter what," he countered holding up his pinky.
"What are you, six?"
"Nothing is more binding than a pinky swear," Klaus said, wiggling his fingers enticingly.
"You never quit do you?"
"Nope," Klaus said with a satisfied grin.
"Jesus Christ." Diego sighed with a roll of his eyes, but nevertheless he linked pinkies with his brother.
"No matter what," Klaus reiterated.
"No matter what," Diego reluctantly agreed before immediately letting go of him.
"Good," Klaus said clapping his hands together and rubbing them conspiratorially. "Now. What do I know about Emily?" he asked himself, feigning an attempt to really dig deep into his thoughts. "Em, Em, Em."
"I'm losing my patience Klaus."
"Alright, fine," Klaus said with an exasperated sigh. Nothing much had changed with Diego this time around - he was still far too serious for his own good. "I know she was one of the few dad couldn't buy, obviously. I deduced that one myself," he admitted proudly.
Diego rolled his eyes and sighed. Even without drugs Klaus' mind still ran a million miles a minute. "Focus," he said keeping his brother on track.
"Right," he replied forcing himself back to their present storytelling session. "She was unbuyable. Her parents were religious and pure," he said mockingly, throwing up the the scouting sign of three fingers. "When Em didn't fit it to their perfect life, they shipped her off and forgot about her. To St. Christopher's School for the Misguided to be exact."
"You mean that old school convent on the outskirts of the city?"
"That's the one," Klaus said in agreement. "She's been there..." he checked his wrist as if a watch sat upon it. "Twelve years now," he added looking back to Diego.
"Twelve years?! What the Hell Klaus?? I thought she was just sent there."
"Yea. When she was six," Klaus said with a snort. "That was after all the exercisims failed," he added nonchalantly.
"Exorcisms!?" Diego was beginning to regret his decision to help. "Look. I don't know what kind of "school" you're taking me to, but how do we know Emily even wants to break out?" he asked in a half-hearted attempt to back out.
"Because she makes it out on her own after another three years anyway. But she always said if she'd got out just a few years earlier she'd have gone farther in life. Between you and me, I thought she turned out just fine the way she was," he added leaning in conspiratorially.
"I don't know about that. She was friends with you."
"Hey! Unfair!" Klaus said feigning offense. "Trust me," he continued, shrugging off the insult. "Once Five is on board, everything will be fine," he said reassuringly, but with little affect. "Then it really will be a dash and grab. Five will just do his little time warp thingie and..." He sucked air through his teeth and gestured for in-and-out. "We'll have Em out and free as a bird in no time," he added with a sigh and a smile.
Diego stared at him, only reacting when his wide grin faded. His mind had already been made up, but it was sti fun to see him sweat. He promptly grabbed him up and pulled toward the hallway - and all the way to Five's room.
------
"Klaus has something he wants to ask you," he said pushing past their brother when he answered the door.
"And what might that be?" he asked, confusion evident on his face as he shut the door behind them.
Once through the threshold doego released his grip on Klaus and took solace off in the corner, waiting to see how well he did with Five. Their brother would be a much tougher sell. He'd never even met Emily.
"Well," Klaus began with a nervous laugh, glancing back to Diego hoping to get some backup. His brother simply urged him on. Klaus sighed and his entire being deflated with his refusal.
"Klaus, what the hell is going on? I don't have time for another one of your ridiculous pranks," Five complained impatiently.
"I need your help rescuing a friend," he admitted freely, turning back to Five.
Five laughed freely at his request. "No," he said letting his facial expressions fall flat. "The last time I tried to help you I ended up having to warp out of police custody."
"But you did get out," Klaus cut in trying to avoid a retelling of their most recent mishap.
"And I had to be the one to explain it all to dad. Alone," he added with rising anger.
Klaus grimaced. "Yea. Sorry about that. I wish I could have been there, really, but something important came up. Real now-or-never type stuff."
"What? Like avoiding the inevitable end of the world? Because last I remember we've already fixed that problem and I can't think of anything more "now-or-never"," he threw back at him.
He knew Five was right. "I guess when you put it like that, I could have made it," he admitted almost sheepishly.
Five merely scowled at his admission.
"But this is different," he added quickly, pushing past Five when he went to kick them out of his room. Klaus shut the door and leaned on it for added security he would finish hearing him out.
"How so?"
Klaus' smile returned. His interest was piqued. "Because we...are gonna..."
Diego rolled his eyes. His sales pitch was quickly dying. "Because you're gonna have me," he stepping forward.
"Not that I don't doubt yoir abilities, but how does that any different? Other than your presence of course."
Their brother's smile widened. "Yes!" he exclaimed before Diego could answer, outstreching his arms toward him and crossing to be by his side. "Because Diego here is an extra set of eyes and ears," he added, cradling his shoulders and endearingly placing his hand on his chest.
Diego glared at Klaus. "Because I will make sure Klaus doesn't screw anything up this time," he answerd shaking himself free.
Five remained silent, considering Klaus 'mission'. He had become anxious lately to do more than just train and follow daddy's orders - even if it was what they all agreed to before their jump back. Not that he would ever admit that to Klaus, but he supposed it could be worth it of Diego was on board.
Klaus stated expectantly and his brother who eyed the two of them. "Say I help you. What is your grand plan to save...who exactly?"
Klaus smiled widely at Diego, ecstatic that things might actually go his way for once.
"Emily," Diego answered, ignoring Klaus.
"Emily?" Five asked surprised with a slight laugh. "You mean the bartender psychic?"
"Telepathic," Klaus corrected him. "But yes. Her. So will you help me? Please?"
Diego rolled his eyes at the duo. "Just say yes already. I can't take much more of this," he added exasperated, dropping down onto the chair at Five's desk.
"Alright fine," he finally agreed.
Klaus began to shower his brother with thabks. He sure hadn't been as appreciative of Diego's allegiance. He huffed to hide his offense. "Klaus!" He pointed at his wrist when he had his brother's attention.
"Oh right. So. Now that I have the best two brothers on board..."
"Klaus," Diego warned.
"Alright, alright. Stop getting your panties in a bunch."
Diego jumped up ready to strangle him.
"Hey! Calm down!" Five intervened. "Don't make me regret helping you," he scolded his brothers. "Now," he continued once the two had parted ways. "When and how are we supposed to save Emily? And from what?"
"I'm glad you asked," Klaus responded slyly before repeating the plan to Five
------
"There it is," Klaus whispered to his brothers, pointing out their entry point.
They crouched hidden among the bushes just outside the point of no return. A nun came out of the front door, followed by two others, and just as Klas said left the door open. Diego huffed quietly to himself and rolled his eyes. Klaus smiled widely.
"Okay," Five said shifting his jacket and bit and readying to jump. "Where is her room?" he asked staring at the building.
It was your typical, old-school convent turned boarding opp. The layout would be easy to figure out.
Klaus shut his eyes and mimicked going over a map with his fingers. "It should be, if memory serves me right, last one on the left, second floor," he said opening his eyes and looking toward the building too. "She always said one of the only good things she remembered about this place were the sunsets," he said quietly to himself with a sad sigh. "West side," he added.
And just like that Five was gone.
-----
He reappeared with a small pop in a girl's room. She was sound asleep, her back to where Five now stood. He crept to her bed and gently tried waking her.
"Emily," he whispered. "Emily wake up."
The girl began to stir, turning toward him. The sight of a boy by her bed had to be a dream. She rubbed her eyes and yawned, sitting up to wake up further. The realization that he was real hit her. Her eyes grew wide in terror and she screamed.
Five quickly covered her mouth. "Emily, please."
She quieted her screams realizing who he was and the fear in her eyes grew to confusion. She mumbled something into his hand.
"What?" he whispered, uncovering her mouth.
"I'm not Emily," she managed to stammer out quietly.
