I first heard of cherry-plums from @elodieunderglass, as part of an ongoing jam competition saga (I'm rooting for you)! I second heard of them when my coworker pointed them out on a walk to the bus stop. So, naturally, I picked some. I...probably should have massed them, but I went by volume instead; it was about three cups worth.

Per the excellent advice given to me, I pitted the fruits by squeezing them, then simmered them for a bit until they were soft. Then I added sugar. About two and a half cups. Which...may have been too much. Because I definitely got syrup out of it (which was my goal!). But...it tastes like liquefied grape jelly. Or grenadine. Somewhere between the two. Beautiful color, but gotta try again when more of the bush ripens.

Question! Does Q'ihnn react to being called Ihnn? Does dropping the clan signifier feel particularly intimate or surprising to him?

So-- okay here's the thing with Q'ihnn and being called Ihnn. It weirds him out really bad, but he's starting to actually enjoy it when his family refers to him as such.

My boy grew up entirely removed from Seeker of the Sun clans, he and Ophianne saw their respective cultures at a distance and mimicked it poorly as children with no adults to tell them why things were how they were. Part of this lore comes from my own lack of knowledge of the world building here when I made them both, admittedly, but it just kinda became part of them.

Q'ihnn knew as a child that he was of the Q clan and no more than that, whatever his birthname was is kinda just lost to him, so in mimicking of it he named himself Q'ihnn because beyond the first letter of your name denoting your clan he didn't understand the further complexities of it. (He also didn't really know what Tia meant either he just knew every other Seeker he'd ever met was "Firstname Tia".)

The part that gets really embarrassing for him here is he found out at 17 - G'raha had to tell him. They were in Sharlayan together when they met, well prior to ARR, and G'raha was his first boyfriend - so when he called him "Ihnn" for the first time, all Q'ihnn could really do was stand there and go "...huh?"

He's still embarrassed it took him so long to find out and by ARR it's still kinda weird to him to hear people call him that, he's much more used to just Q, but by EW he's starting to enjoy it much more when the other Seekers in his life just call him Ihnn.
