i tried to make another recipe from the sonic cookbook for my lunch today . emphasis on tried because i thought i had more of the ingredients than i actually did and didn't realize how much i was missing until i had already started cooking and gotten excited to eat official vector the crocodile ramen so i just said fuck it we ball and hoped it turned out ok . what i did end up with was pretty good though even if its not exactly what the recipe was telling me to do

tmnt: Strained Eyes

In this iteration, much like rottmnt, all of the turtles have super powers. however, there is a little catch. while the rottmnt turtle's powers suit their soul, Strained Eye's turtles... don't.

(please ignore the fact that Mikey doesnt really look like a spotted pond turtle, i came up with the design first and had to find a turtle species second)

So! Mikeys powers basically allow him to cause every thing he touches to rot/decompose/desintergrate. he does have some control, but not reliably.

And though he is a good cook, there is a 50/50 chance that you will end up eating mouldy/rotten food. but all the other times it will be delicious.

he (obviously) has insecurities about touch, he is very aware that he could very easily kill someone with just one touch.

he can also grow mushrooms on command -he can also grow them on his shell which freaks out his brothers a lot.

also hes not actually blind in one eye! its mostly just cosmetic.

Up next we have Donnie! compared to Mieky hes a very brightly coloured boy!

his power is illusions! they can be incredibly lifelike. the problem is, These illusions can be permanent if Donnie doesnt dispel them, and sometimes are summoned only by his subconscious. So Donnie can struggle with figuring out if something is real or not.

The only senses his illusions cannot mimic are touch and smell (and taste) so he is usually extremely tactile, holding onto his brothers to assure himself that theyre real and not just a projection of his mind. he covers a lot of stuff in his lab (and his brothers) with strong smelling perfumes as well.

application wise- he uses his powers in tandem with his machines to make incredibly realistic looking androids. example: robot cat that looks like real cat. robot dragon that looks like REAL dragon, etc etc. he can also use them to appear human and turn invisible. (he can expand this to all his brothers) but he still hasnt gotten down the art of human expressions, so when ever he appears human he looks quite uncanny when he talks.

It's Leo!!

now Leo is ~battery powered~ his powers basically allow him to absorb energy straight from the source, such as absorbing the electricity off of an electric wire, or even sucking the energy from a person. or eating batteries.

an unfortunate side affect (depending on how you look at it) is that Leo doesnt need to sleep. ever. as long as he keeps absorbing energy then he's completely fine! and the more electricity/energy he absorbs the faster/stronger he gets! he also thinks faster! coming up with excellent strategies on the fly!

however- the same is true of the other way around, when Leo runs out of energy (which he does often- hes VERY bad at judging how much he has left) he will start to get more lethargic, his cognitive funtions will slow down and his short term memory will start to degrade.

If he completly runs out of energy his heart stops and he dies.

but dont worry! you just need to zap him with more energy and hell get right back up again (Donnie has a defibrillator just for Leo). though its best not to leave him in that state for long. because like that he is still functionally a dead body.

And finally we have Raph!

Raph breaths fire. a very simple power, in fact he can even hold his breath for hours apon end and his skin is extremely tough! theres basically no side effects too!

Hes so lucky compared to his brothers, having a power that suits him perfectly and doesnt mess him up in the head.

because of this, Raph has kinda moulded himself into the hyper aggressive mom friend, making sure they dont all run themselves into the ground because of the drawbacks to their powers.

he still has anger issues too <3

I have so many feelings about it HHHH I feel like I accidentally dug myself into a situation (or you did it on purpose you mad lad) that made everything hit harder.

When I first started reading Caged Lungs, like the first third or even quarter I was convinced it was a bad dream. Or like a bad trip from the mushrooms on the pizza. That oh, everyone's gonna just wake up and it'll be fine, there's gonna be reassurances and comfort. But then... It's kind of like a dawning horror situation when I realized more and more that hey, this is real. It's taking chunks out of their lives, they're still doing day to day things but it's getting worse. I didn't even catch it during the fight with Hypno, I just shrugged and went huh, that's weird.

But as it mentions the time crawling and they keep getting worse and Donnies mental health plummeting...

I hit the end and panicked because hey? Wtf? (/pos)

But seeing everything slowly go back to "normal" in Clipped Wings adds to this. Because it's the realization of no, this is real... Or is it? This all happened... Right? Everything should be the way it is but now they're STILL gaslighting him but accidentally this time.

Their denial can only work for so long until it damages both parties. And I feel like it's already there.

This fic has a choke hold on me and I squeal every time I see a new update, unreliable narrator is one of my favorite tropes and you do it SO WELL

:D :D :D YEAASSSS very glad i pulled off the kind of dreamlike quality to caged lungs that i was going for!!! (in some scenes more than others i really tried to accentuate it, like the second-to-last scene with the post-shredder flashback. i mostly used it to draw the most painful contrast i could between how its all ended up vs how it USED to be. very fun to compare the earliest scenes to the final ones though, especially when it comes to donnie's behavior, because it is so painful and jarring) nothing is ever truly MADE UP in donnie's narration, but his grip on reality slips further and further, and with it a lot of the details are twisted (he misinterprets april a lot especially, and also dissociates quite a bit and has memory issues. there's an entire BEATDOWN that you only see the tail-end of because he doesn't remember it, which is probably a good thing considering its one of the most traumatic events from when they were under the curse, probably third behind the murder attempt and the closet. i mean he doesn't remember NOW but..... they do.)

and i hesitate to call their behavior now gaslighting, since gaslighting is an intentional act of abuse intended to make the victim feel like they cant trust themselves and their own memory, etc etc. them covering up the evidence is PLAYING INTO what they did, but they're not denying it (they're doing the opposite, in fact, with how much they're ruminating on it and trying to fix their mistakes, although covering up the evidence is them trying to run away from it to abate their guilt lmao). less lying more omitting the truth, but its still hurting just as much because donnie has conditioned himself to think his memory is unreliable and he "makes things up" because of his "victim complex". even though he's dissociative and is currently struggling with memory issues because of that, he instinctively panics when he gets confused on the details, and they have also conditioned him to be afraid to ASK now, because they would get mad at him for doing it.... its a whole mess. donnie doesn't even know how to communicate his needs anymore, and they dont know they need to ask.

amatonormativity can only be defeated if society learns that people can have different needs.

most people need sex. i need sex to stay mentally healthy, but not everyone is the same. i also need gluten, but some people get really sick from it. a lot of people need romantic love for emotional fulfillment, which i will never understand and find very strange, but thats okay, because people are different.

ableism is also tied into this. i need things to be explained very clearly, often multiple times, otherwise i dont understand. sometimes im literally unable to process sound enough to understand what people are saying. most people dont need basic sentences explained multiple times to understand, so i have a need that others dont have.

a lot of amatonormativity is similar to ableism. i theorize this is because society views both lack of attraction and disability as biological inferiorities that need "curing". this is why historical queerphobia is extremely ableist. electro conversion therapy is exactly the same thing one of my dead relatives suffered for being mentally ill (note that this form of... well, torture, literally cooks brain cells, eventually having similar effects as a lobotomy).

intersex people are often forced on hrt that makes them sick, because perisex society believes that "normalcy" is what people need.

ive heard of asexuals being forced on libido meds because asexuality is assumed to be a medical condition.

all of these are forms of conversion therapy (if your country has not banned igm, conversion therapy is still legal, sorry).

again with the inherent ableism, i used to have problems with anxiety induced meltdowns, and my psychiatrist assumed it was because of my already treated adhd. he forced me on ritalin, which i already had a record of it not working for me. my adhd meds that work were taken from me and i had to take whats basically mild meth. for 3 days straight, i had a panic attack. singular. it continued for days without stopping. as soon as this started happening my mum took me off ritaln, against that doctors orders. for a week i had no adhd meds, so i microdosed magic mushrooms and my anxiety (and adhd) caused no problems for that whole week.

all of these are medical assumptions, assumptions that a non existent problem needs curing. my adhd was fine. i was treated with a med that had worked since i was 5.

theres a huge similarity between gay men being forced on testosterone to try to make them more masculine, and me being forced on ritalin to treat a medical issue that didn't exist in an attempt to make me normal. (the problem i had was much more about my autism not being accommodated btw).

queerphobia and ableism have been intertwined since western society came up with eugenics.

i dont need to be fixed, i need to be loved instead of treated like a problem. people always think my autism is "worse" when they abuse me, and its just because i cant mask when im scared. it becomes a cycle of me being abused for not masking, and not masking because im scared. in the same way, things like psychosis are made infinitely worse by psych wards. can you imagine having a delusion that the government is hunting you and then actual cops throw you in a cell and drug you? thats reality for many psychotics! it happened to me, and everytime i became more convinced that i was being tracked.

queerness is treated how disabilities are treated, because to the medical system they are the same: disorders, and disorders are inferior.

in both cases people just need to be cared for. we may be totally different, but we have so many similarities in our experiences.

a society that sees us as the same will treat us the same.

Okay my dwemer headcanons time yippee

Under readmore bc it was longer than i expected

1. Their telepathic capabilities, or the Calling, had limited range akin to a walkie-talkie. The tips of their ears are longer and thinner than other races like a tv antenna. They would move their ears to either tune in or out from others. They could extend their telepathic range or accuracy a bit via specific piercings and/or headgear. Tonal architects used special headgear to tune out from others entirely to focus only on their work. Longer distance communication had to be achieved with radio. This is an adaptation as a result of frequently being in low-light environments and working with things that make a lot of noise, its easier and much more efficient to communicate with someone without the danger of them simply not hearing you.

2. Both men and women grew beards. In fact, there wasnt that much difference between the two sexes. Intersex dwemer werent uncommon at all. It wasnt really something that they made a big deal out of.

3. Most, if not all, dwemer are nearsighted, another result of underground living and constantly working with fine details. Pretty much everyone carried glasses with them to use whenever.

4. Every child would be taught how to construct a dwarven spider, and that spider would be with them ideally for their entire lives. They may gradually learn build more complex animunculi as they develop their skills. They usually take on a full apprenticeship to learn the intricacies of dwarven metal and some basic tonal architecture once they are teenagers, but occasionally they may not take on an apprenticeship until they are older.

5. Some dwemer names are more like titles that they take on, most often ones that end with -ac. For example, the name Dumac is a name that every major dwarven leader has, though that may not have been their original name. Every clan has their own Dumac and Kagrenac (every chief tonal architect would be called Kagrenac), as well as other names/titles that we dont know about.

6. They did not sleep on straight up stone beds they had some sort of mat to put on top of them. They just stored it away and used the stone part for other things when they werent sleeping or resting (though im sure some managed to find the actual stone comfortable enough to doze off on)

7. More often than not when talking to anyone of another race their words would be misinterpreted, so they had to choose their words carefully. This is because a lot of meaning behind their words get completely lost because nobody else is telepathic. A conversation between two dwarves may seem short and full of long silent pauses and they may even seem like they arent addressingeach other at all, but thats because a lot of the times theyre just kind of beaming their feelings and thoughts directly into each others minds. This is also why dwemer literature, notes, etc. tend to be hard to comprehend since its hard to convey things on paper without that additional communication so it has to be more verbose. The communication barrier between them and other races often felt like much more work than it was worth, which is why they were usually very isolated and held themselves in a higher regard.

8. They acted different around other people than amongst themselves which also added to the impression most people had of them. Partially because of a society-wide superiority complex and partially because of the communication barrier, they acted a lot more calculated and blunt towards others.

9. The average dwarf was shorter than an altmer and taller than everyone else

10. Mushrooms were a huge part of their cuisine

11. They could hear sounds of both higher and lower frequency than the average person can. This helps them pinpoint issues a piece of machinery or structural may be having, structural integrity of a building or excavation, or with tonal architecture in general.

12. They sometimes used their voice for fine tuning, especially tonal architects. A group of tonal architects working together could sound like a harmonized choir. They arent singing for fun (they could if they wanted to though), its just part of the job. Just how stuff works. Im not gonna act like i fully understand what tonal architecture even is.

13. For the dwarves of skyrim, chaurus were their primary source of meat but they didnt find their chitin to be very useful for much so it was often discarded or traded. The discarded chitin was then utilized by the falmer at the beginning of the War of the Crag which helped give them an advantage for a good while.

14. A lot of traps in skyrims dwemer ruins were later additions in the midst of the war of the crag, which is why many may seem oddly placed, unecessary, or nonsensical to an explorer.

I had a cold earlier this week so I wrote half of a fluffy fic inflicting my cold onto SQQ:

He redoubled his efforts of looking sad and concerned and despondent as a quick countermeasure, and Shen Qingqiu sighed.  “It’s not so bad,” he repeated. “This master can still perform his duties just fine. Most likely it will pass before Liu Qingge even returns.”

Simple Cooking Tips by me trying my best:

1: Canned foods are fine. Canned foods are often affordable, very shelf stable, and versatile. Canned veggies taste great when seasoned and cooked. Canned meat is fine too. Enjoy eating your canned food little life!

2: Instant mashed potatoes are a great way to make a quick an easy side. You can always add extra seasoning/butter/creamcheese/sourcream/milk/broth/etc. if you need. The same goes for other instant foods they are very versatile. Instant foods can often be shelf stable, cheap, and also good if you dont have a lot of time to cook.

3: I made too much food or bought too much food or produce uh oh. Freeze/freeze/freeze (just make sure you keep track of dates and stuff/know that some foods texture will change when frozen). There are often plenty of tips and tricks to freezing things well when they have texture changes. Food never has to go to waste! And on days where its hard for me to function having a frozen meal ready to heat up is the best. Also, for excess produce especially see if your town has any local fridges/places to donate fresh produce for someone to take!

4: If the only way youre going to eat is ordering out then do it if you can afford it. Dont feel bad for ordering out. This is your sign that if you need to order out then do it, you dont need an excuse. Youre allowed to want or need ordering out.

5: Meal prepping is supposed to help you not exhaust you. I struggle to eat breakfast for example so its really helpful for me to make things that are quick while im already cooking dinner so that in the morning i have less effort to expend. I make things like yoghurt parfaits/chia seed pudding, over night oats, coldbrew coffee, boiled eggs, etc! Dont feel pressured to meal prep if it is more stressful for you. Its supposed to help you!

6: Setting alarms to eat is soo soo helpful if you struggle to remember or struggle to read your body's needs. I struggle with this myself, so I set alarms for lunch and dinner (as i usually eat breakfast at work). You dont need to be strict with yourself/regimented on the times but it just helps me remember to eat or to prepare food to eat later.

7: Once a pan/pot/cooking equipment cools soak it/rinse it off as soon as you can. It will make cleaning it a lot easier when there's less caked up on it. And if your someone like me who struggles with wet food textures while cleaning this can help a lot too.

8: Don't feel bad for not eating leftovers/finishing a plate/having to throw stuff out. It's okay and not a moral failing. You are not wasting food.

9: Instant ramen is amazing and you can add so much to it in order to make it a really filling meal. You can add veggies (i like to add spinach/kale and mushrooms), you can add more protein (eggs, spam/shrimp/other meats, tofu, etc.). Go crazy with it!

10: I plan my meals out for every day of the week. This helps me stay organized. You don't have to do this, but if youre like me and knowing what your going to eat everyday helps you focus/cook/not stress then do it!

11: If you have a roommate/someone you live with you can find ways to share certain costs/foods. For ex me and my roommate share things and the cost of things that are used so much like: onions, garlic, spices/salt/pepper, tea, etc.

12: You dont have to chop things if you dont want to. You dont have to mortar and pestle things if you dont want to. Use items that make things easier for you! If you need a food processor, if you need a garlic mincer, if you need a potato ricer, do it! Buy precut beef for stew, buy precut chicken tenders, etc! You dont have to chop a single thing! Make things more accessible and easier! And if you like to spend time chopping and mastering knife skills then do that too!

I dont think i ever mentioned it but ever since i started applying to art colleges I've been keeping up an art wall and since i just added some new illustrations to it, i thought it would be fun to explain some things on my wall and revisit some of my old favourites!

Going from left to right, we start with some more recent illustrations (featuring, ofc, gussiri, Niv, and a recent illustration of Cato from @otwdfanfic 's fic that i liked sm i just had to print and put up somewhere). Next to Cato, I put a gift i got from my dear friend @lt-catbolt of our bois Niv and Melatron and i cant remember if this was for my birthday or for fun, all i know is that i nearly cried when she gave it to me (go follow her now btw she's awesome and shes gonna become one of the most expressive storytellers of our generation i just know it)

Underneath Cato and Niv/Mel, we've got a huge pencil drawing I did 2 years ago to get accepted into an art college. It took me so. So long. I even begged my teachers from high school to let me follow classes online so i could continue working (they said yes lmao) and my mom even had to help. Worse, it wasnt the only assignment that particular art school had given me, no, they had given me a total of 6 assignments I had to complete. They all took a lot of time and didnt all turn out great haha. I didnt get accepted into that school (it was a fine arts study so im pretty sure i wouldnt have been happy there anyways) but that just makes me all the more happy i did get accepted into the one im currently attending

Underneath the inkt print is a poster i got while visiting the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe stage play when I was in London in autumn of 2022 (take me back London take me back take me back). The play was absolutely stunning and the way everything was staged left me (as a life long narnia enthusiast) ecstatic and super excited. One of the best plays ive ever seen even if i had one of the worst seats in the theatre <3

dabi headcanon of the week: he is a very picky eater and always has been.

after leaving his old home and becoming dabi, he hasnt been able to really be choosy with what he eats since his next meal isn't promised but when/if he has somewhere to fall back on and always has food available, he will be picky with what he eats.

theres also two ways i wanna go with this part as well lol first one is he has very little feeling in his mouth so he is the king of eating spicy and sour things even if he didnt like the taste/feeling of them before

i also hc he doesnt like anything sour, bitter, spicey nor most veggies lmao he isnt a fan of mushrooms or peas because of the texture and will refuse to eat them and pick them out. he also doesn't like bananas for that very reason too.

alt hc if you like some angst like me, his teeth and gums probs arent the best anymore from years on the streets and constant damage to his body so soft foods like peas and bananas are some of the only things he can eat without pain.

putting aside the fact he has very little feeling in the rest of his body theres also the hc of while dabi is constantly putting himself through unimaginable pain and destroying his body, I like the idea that he has a sensitive mouth that doesnt allow him to eat or drink harsh things so if he is able to he will avoid them at all costs. for example he also can't do carbonated things without pain and discomfort. pineapple is one of his his worst enemies.

as a kid he would always want to whine if meals were things he didnt like, that being said he didn't like to disappoint his father and would try to choke it down anyways.

i like the hc that end*avor had planned meals for his kids, they always had to be healthy and balanced and they had to finish it all. if touyas meals werent always planned and scheduled tho than he would try to get his mom to not add or make things he didnt like.

dabi x reader section: he will always make you buy things he likes to have on hand even if hes not always around. if you don't have a lot of money and don't mind him stealing, then dont be supprised when he comes home with lots of his fave snacks and things to make foods he prefers.

dabi would always be hesitant or straight up unwilling to try anything that he doesn't find visually appealing or really many new things in general. if you like experimenting and trying new foods make sure theres always something he likes around or else he just,,,, won't eat. not in a throw a little kid tantrum way but a he just says he doesn't feel hungry at the moment or straight up says the food doesnt look good

if you make something specially for him but add something he doesn't like or is iffy on without knowing, he will still at least try it, using the excuse he isnt very hungry right now or is busy and will eat it later if he really doesn't like it.

i like the hc he has a sweet tooth so he will be more likely to try new things with sugar or sweet foods like fruits and pastries. he hates dark chocolate tho and no amount of coaxing will talk him into eating it.

don't try to lie about or trick him into eating things either, for one that's mean and you shouldnt do that with anyone, and for two he is amazing at telling when someone is lying and he WILL find out and get pissed off at you, not so much about the food but the fact you lied to or tried to trick him when he explicitly set a boundary.

he will be more lenient in trying new things if you eat them with him or its your first time having it too. if you offer him a bite of something like you are just casually eating it and are seeing if he wants some too he will be more likely to try it.

i dont think he would know how to cook very well seeing as he didn't really have many ingredients nor anything to cook with before he pretty much moved in with you. so he will always stand in the kitchen and pester you when youre cooking, especially if its something he doesnt like.

things like ramen, cereal and other quick prep foods are always good to have around with him.

fWhip huddled up near the wall, eyes black and blue, a small cut on his upper lip, head throbbing in pain, and a sob choked its way out of his throat. He flinched as something touched his face, expecting another blow, but instead his chin was gently cradled as soft thumbs wiped away his tears. 

He opened his eyes to see a familiar freckled face littered with bruises, her usually neat orange hair messy, her eyes watering, and he threw his arms around her for comfort.

She gave him a shaky smile. "It's ok, they're done. It's fine. We can do this, we're strong." she reassured him.

"Gem, I'm scared, they were really angry this time," his voice was muffled by her clothes.

Gem hugged him closer, sniffling. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you this time…"

hello season 2 i am in Pain

project 4

to start this off. you all must know that i loath granny squares. i think theyre Fine to make as a boredom time killer! theyre fairly easy to work up! but making Pieces. Making Whole Ass Projects Out Of Squares? killing myself. killing god even. killing every pattern maker and every urge in me to Make the thing.

i hate this bag with a passion. i like it because the mushrooms are cute! its made entirely of scrap yarn that couldnt be used in other projects but a granny square project was perfect! the entire point of this bag is to put in every piece i make, that i keep, while watching ordem into this! it shall serve its purpose well. but i hate it. i hate this thing so much.

this wretched thing took about 14 hours? i started it 2 hours into season 2. i finished this bag with about 10 minutes to spare on episode 4. this is a 14 hour bag and i hate my life with a passion but its okay because i made something to hold things i like more LMAO.

i am though very proud of it working out colorwise as well as it did since its made of all scrap yarn. the handle doesnt work as Well as i was hoping but i think it still pulls all the blues nicely for the most part. and again its just a think to hold projects for the moment unless i end up gifting it. for not proper planning i Do like it even if i kinda hate it xD

season thoughts so far

dude luis can not catch a break like i Know both deaths of his so far have been purposeful by his own hand. but like what the fuck dude, he can not have a character that lives to see episode 4 huh. i like the big weird spider ngl i hope we get a fucked up brocket or a fucked up bear with whatever the fuck is going on in the forest. m kinda neutral on arthur right now but i know he'll grow on me as we get more episodes in, god m gonna miss cris and esp what growth we coulda had between cris and cesar but i know its probably gonna kick off a wonderful cesar arc. assuming he survives to see said arc.

still big fan of joui, in love with the entire conversation between joui and liz surrounding The Stairs Incident hes soooooo. that fucking conversation took me out. i cant wait to see what happens next and who the next casualty is because i knew getting into it, but esp now that this is a no holds series, you will just die and have to learn how to keep going. since i dont check the wiki m really interested to see if luis comes back in the next? 12 episodes i think are left? with a new character or if hes just gone from the season and i gotta wait for season 3 to see him again.

I have explored the various legal highs easily available to me in an effort to survive my seasonal depression.

The notable ones so far are:

-Kanna. Kanna is so cool. It's a serotonin reuptake inhibitor and a gaba modulator. It's like mdma without the push and less euphoria. Better after effects too. I find a big thing about kanna for me is that it's a highly social drug. I've had it when alone and it's just not the same. Kanna is mdma without the edge. Kanna can be smoked, drank, held under the tongue. It's great! 8/10 really helps with the seasonal depression and gives good vibes.

-Klip dagga. This is an interesting one. Leonotis is a genus of plants related to cannabis. I have leonotus nepetifolia, which is considered the most desirable. It is a medium sized plant that produces psychoactive flower buds just like weed. The flowers are long and thin, and don't feel like much when smoked. Lonurine and other compounds are highly water soluble and don't require a decarb. This makes it superficially similar to tobacco. You can make extracts that treat depression and make you feel relaxed. It's a very weak gaba modulator, and it possesses a variety of anti inflammatory properties currently being studied for their medicinal potential. It's a subtle plant, but it's made a big difference in my winter depression. 6.5/10

Amanita muscaria- what can I say about the aminita that hasn't already been said? It's easily one of the most interesting substances I've ever ingested. Most people think you use it by eating a few mushrooms, then tripping balls for a few hours. While yes you can do this, the mushroom can be processed into extracts, infused into ointment, smoked, it can be made into tea, or a tincture. It's very versatile and very nice if you know how to use it. A small dose relaxes the mind and body, it enhances weed, it opens you up like you've had two beers, it's mildly hallucinogenic when you close your eyes. It's not a cheap drug if you just eat them whole, but when processed 30g can last a long time. 9/10 very nice and fun. Maybe a little too fun. Be sure to boil them, even the dried ones shouldn't be eaten without more processing.

Blue lotus- this is one to be careful with. There's a lot of conflicting information about nymphaea caerulea and nymphaea nouchali. There is actually a family of these flowers, all of which contain a different array of compounds yet they are often all unclearly labeled as Blue Lotus. Aporphine and nuciferine are present in many of these varieties, some have just one, some have neither. People naturally report conflictingly about these plants. Some say they're toxic, others say they're only toxic in large amounts, some say they are fine even in excess, others point to a lack of good modern evidence supporting the toxicological profile of the lotuses and steer clear. The fda hasn't researched it because it was written off as a poisonous lawn plant decades ago when researchers injected some poor mice with way too much Aporphine and nuciferine and they got sick. Proceed with caution. It is nice though. It feels good, it's a dopamine agonist. It mixes very well in small amounts with other drugs. It's potent and cheap. Just do your research and don't buy water lilies sold as lotus. Also the extracts are almost all cut with synthetic cannabinoids since the real deal is kinda underwhelming in large doses since it antagonizes dopamine and kills your buzz. 5/10 interesting and fun in small amounts, but not something to be taken lightly. Also if you're on stimulants it makes you feel like you're having an orgasm since the double dopamine action gets a little intense, feels not good though dont do lotus that often imo.

Mulungu- eh. Hit or miss tbh. You can have it every once in a while to help you get to sleep or relax, but it quickly loses its power with repeated uses. 3/10 it's meh

Calea/African dream herb- still figuring out the best way to use these. I smoke weed so the dream inducing effects can't be fully realized until I take a t break. When eaten calea works well. It and the herb can be smoked but I find it too wasteful. These plants are not entirely safe. Some claim to use it daily for months but I'm not convinced you should use it more than once in a while for it's full effects and to minimize the harm it can cause. These herbs contain eugenol, the main aromatic compound in ordinary cloves. Now, cloves? You can get high off cloves? Yes. Clove oil is almost all eugenol. Eugenol is a general anesthetic in mega doses, but it's also toxic at that level. A recreational dose is much lower. Just enough to lull you into a shallow sleep where you'll dream and trip, even if you don't fully go out. It's very interesting, but like the lotuses I would be careful with these. 6/10 wish it felt cleaner

Kratom- Kratom for me deserves an honorable mention as I've already had my fun with it years ago and it isn't new to me. In short: it's very effective. Too effective. I've had withdrawals, and while it's only like 3 days it's still nasty and really brings out how kratom is a strong opioid that's not to be underestimated. In summary it doesn't last long enough, interacts with medications, it's expensive, and it feels really good. Hell of a combination of things kratom is. Maybe some can use it responsibly but I probably can't. When I first tried it it was a 8/10, now it's more like a 7. It feels good but it's sooo easy to get hooked on opioids. Final rating 4/10 cuz I'm biased

Salvia- no longer legal here. Haven't had it since I was 19-20. Fantastically strange drug. Definitely not for beginners. The dose response curve has an overhang. It's either nothing, the most trippy visuals and sounds your ass has ever seen, or a manic dream eclipsed by amnesia and disoriented timeless placelessness. Wish I could buy it still, but it's probably done more harm than good tbh and it being illegal kidna makes sense I think. It has earned a &*/10.

LSA- A personal favorite, as it was my first trip. Unfortunately ineffective due to my zoloft for the moment. When not on ssris lsa is so nice. If you get the right plant the nausea and vasoconstriction can be minimized if not eliminated. Use argyreia nervosa seeds. It's like if acid was more chill, sedating, and reflective. Mixes very well with weed, it unlocks lsa in my experience. More visual, cognitive, emotional effects especially when you're not running a tolerance. 8/10 very cheap and gentle. *cough*Indian sellers on ebay*cough*.

AI isnt ingerently bad in and of itself, all it is is machine learning systems which can be applied to ethical sources and used for all kinds of things. The problems are specifically that they are 1) often used currently as smoke and mirrors for theft in cases like the text and art generators. if you train an AI on sources you dont inform of this and compensate properly, it is simply theft put through a blender to hide it; 2) it is being used to replace jobs of people in an era where jobs are still necessary to survive. Duolingo for instance fired most of their translator staff, and translation is increasingly a job being replaced by AI. Those Translators affected deserve a safety net for the collapse of their industry. This is also true of a lot of the non-text-and-art AIs, where they replaced jobs which used to exist...but its starting to become a more significant problem now; 3) It can lie and quite often businesses are propping it up as a source of accurate information. Theres been a number of mushroom identification platforms which have been using AI and making up shit, which could easily get someone killed. AI should be illegal for use such as that outright; 4) It can retain and amplify biases of the people it is trained on. I'm sure we've all seen the video where the guy asks an AI to create images of autistic children, and how it produced a bunch of sad white boys. Some AI companies are trying to fix this by throwing in "diverse" as a keyword for the AIs, so they dont do that, but thats really just a band-aid. Even looking at AI training in Videogames, lets say they use it to animate a walk cycle for a gay character, and they logged mo-cap videos of several actors who they told to walk like a gay character. It might end up showing those characters walking like a stereotype. The AI model needs some built-in way to recognize biases and counter them intelligently, and I'm not enough of a programmer to figure out exactly how--honestly, this isnt even a fatal flaw, I'd say this is just one we need to be aware of and improve the technology with it in mind.

Like. There's plenty of uses of AI which are good. Its just that there's flaws which, in the current model, are being brought to light by the way people are using this new technology. If we put in some regulations to protect jobs and eliminatetheft and misinformation, and refine the technology further, I do believe we can find a way to integrate AI into life in a way that is ethical and helpful. For instance, as a cartoonist, I hate drawing backgrounds: if I could draw a handful of backgrounds in my style and train an AI on it, then use it for backgrounds I dont care much about (and edit them so that they fit a little better) I think thats fine. There's no theft, there's no misinformation, I wouldnt be hiring a background artist since I'm poor anyways so its not a job loss, and if any biases do show up I'm at least there to filter them. There ARE ethical uses, we just have to start approaching this issue with nuance in order to divide the ethical from the unethical.

Watched the mario movie so heres my informal review (spoilers ig)

Positives:

-animation was fine, hard to fuck up when you have thirty years of precedent for what the characters look like. I liked bowsers scales. Peaches head is so small in comparison to marios its weird tho

-i thought marios family was kind of sweet and i liked the bit with the commercial

-luigi had a good clean character arc even if he didnt get much screentime. Also i liked the bit that references his ghost themed games.

Negatives:

-the bit with the dog. If youre going to make it clear these characters are underdogs why not make it be their fault that they did a bad job instead of making it completely random? So weird.

-marios weird characterization/lack of it. His character seems to be painted as “guy who gets back up time after time” but like… thats not really a bad thing? They try to imply it is but its just like not a character flaw.

-He also seems to be worried his dad is disappointed in him and yet that doesnt impact anything he does. Like he doesnt avoid taking chances because hes worried about his dads opinion- at least DK has more interaction with his dad like that.

-who tf is toad why was he there why did he adopt mario and take him to the princess immediately. So many questions.

-not so much a deep criticism but the toads are ugly

-shows a map of the whole world in detail and then is only concerned with like half of it… if youre going to show the desert world then i want it onscreen!

-way too many things crammed in- DK, karts, rainbow road, and they didnt even use my favorite powerup, super huge mushroom

-DK just being wreck it ralph

-bowser had no character??? Honestly i dont care about peachs backstory i wanted a tender song about how bowser was kicked out of mushroom land for being a turtle but the turtles also didnt respect him because hes a monster and he just wants to be loved. He was so one dimensional honestly.

-removing marios accent, i dont care that much, i care more abojt the fact they should hire better *voice* actors instead of alisters.

-the sort of clashy bright aesthetics combined with scifi moving platforms and elevators

Anyways probably dont watch this movie unless youre catsitting while doing laundry and dont have anything to do but watch netflix
