i think one of the most noteworthy things about Blaise that i haven't really seen anyone discuss is his tendency to liken others to children, his weaponization of it, its relation to him being a child abuser, and its relation to his defeat.

one of his first lines of dialogue, before he even introduces himself, is him humiliating Franziska by calling her 'little von Karma', and then bringing up something retroactively embarrassing she did as a little girl.

he frames this as genuine nostalgia, but to me, it's pretty clear this was a purposeful, and almost sadistic, powerplay.

there's also these lines. these aren't too strange, out of context - "let's all play nice" is a relatively common phrase, and in the second screenshot where he's discussing Kay and Edgeworth's friendship, they are literally youths (well, compared to him). but in context, it's clear that this is part of him attempting to assert his dominance over everyone else.

he wants to let everyone know that he is the adult here, and all they are is children - and thereby, they are completely powerless to his end-all authority, so they shouldn't even bother attempting to resist. this is further emphasized during his logic chess segment.

he calls Edgeworth 'my boy', he reminds him that he is his 'senior in life', he tells him he's being naïve. he threatens to never give back his prosecutors badge if he doesn't stop trying to question his authority. he asks him, mockingly, if he's scared. then, while grinning, he tells him that there is nothing he can do, and he should give up already.

he once again, more blatantly this time, is attempting to force someone else into accepting that they are the weaker party and that he could do anything he pleased to them, and once again, he is weaponizing the societal power imbalance between a child and an adult to do so.

i could go on and on for a while with more examples of this, but then that would make this post really long and rambly. so, instead, i'm going to discuss what his behavior ultimately results in.

this is probably one of the most disturbing interactions in Ace Attorney.

he does this purely so Sebastian will feel humiliated and ashamed in front of his colleagues, people he respects and who in turn are supposed to respect him. he does this to remind Sebastian that he is his father, and Sebastian is his child. to Blaise, that means he has complete control over him. and until this point? he actually does.

he has controlled every aspect of Sebastian's life to be exactly how he wants it. his path in life, his school, his tests - even Sebastian's constant usage of his surname serves as a reminder that Sebastian's only purpose to his father is to be an extension of him, a tool to feed into his ego. an object. something he owns.

note how, in their sprites, Sebastian is typically tilting his head slightly downwards, and in his crying sprites, he's leaning down. meanwhile Blaise stands high, and in his grinning sprites, his head is tilted up, as to literally look down on the person he's talking to.

but in the end, right before Blaise is convicted, right as Blaise tells him he should just remain his idiot son, Sebastian is looking up as he tells him goodbye. a way of saying that he's not beneath him, and he won't let him act like it anymore.

Blaise is immediately infuriated by this, and says all you've ever been able to do is depend on me. he screams Sebastian's name in anger - but it's cut off.

in fact, there is no more dialogue from Blaise after this. because he has no more authority, no more ability to scare Sebastian or anyone else into submission. in the end, Sebastian has finally taken back his autonomy that Blaise has robbed him of. so has Kay. so has Simon. all of them are children he has mistreated, threatened, and jerked around for his own selfish gain, but ultimately, they all still have more power over their own lives than he ever will again.

there's a lot more i could say on this, but these are all my thoughts i could organize. thanks for reading.

They're constantly referring to each other as "colleagues" even after all this time

One time Bruce comes home brooding more than usual and when asked he's like "I got into a disagreement with someone at the office"

Or Clark triple-checking that his suit and tie look right because he doesn't wanna embarrass himself at a work dinner with Bruce

Clark randomly laughs in the middle of the day at the Daily Planet because of something his co-worker from his second job sent him (it was a picture of Ace)

Bruce randomly buys gifts for Clark for "networking purposes," like Belgian chocolate or a diamond watch band

When Clark is stressed over a deadline Bruce will talk him through it over the phone because that's what colleagues do for each other

When other people ask where they see themselves in 10 years they always mention wanting to be each other's "business partners"

They once shared the same bed at a hotel on a "business trip" because getting two different ones would "go over the budget"

After a particularly bad Justice League mission, Bruce and Clark go for a long stroll together to "regroup" and "think up a new strategy"

They also coordinate Wayne Enterprises and Daily Planet lunch breaks so Clark can fly over to Gotham with the pie that Ma specifically made for Bruce

The Justice League does a holiday gift swap and Diana rigs it so Bruce and Clark get each other, but it backfires on her when they keep separately coming to her for advice as they're panicking about picking the right present

Bruce saved Clark in his contacts as "Colleague <3" and claims the heart is to differentiate him from all the other JL members and WE employees

One time Dick asked Bruce where he was going and Bruce said it was another work meeting with Clark, and Dick was like, "A work meeting in a horse-drawn carriage through the park?" To which Bruce said it was being paid for by Wayne Enterprises and therefore was business-related

Their families got together on Kent Farm for a summer barbecue after they said they had some "big news" to share, which turned out to be the merger between Wayne Enterprises and the Daily Planet. More than one people were left disappointed but Bruce and Clark couldn't figure out why

Clark flies over to Gotham in the mornings to bring Bruce coffee from a place they both like in exchange for Alfred's breakfast pastries

When Bruce is in Metropolis, he sneaks into Clark's office and waits until Clark gets back

Wayne Enterprises branches into the jewelry industry and Bruce gets himself and Clark matching gold rings as part of the "product testing" procedure

On slow patrol nights, they'll meet up on a random rooftop and just talk because "regular updates are vital to business communication"

They practiced how to waltz with each other so they look good in front of others at an upcoming gala

The other heroes have a running bet on how long until they get together, and of course Diana is in the lead

But how would Bruce sweep in to help the Kents without raising suspicion on himself? Even if he did it anonymously, theres few people in Gotham that could have the power to so quickly get them out of the public eye. And if he does it publicly, I'm assuming he claims he was doing it to protect the JL as Bruce publicly funds them? Or would he essentially release a statement saying that as a close friend of Clark Kent, he wishes to protect him from the media as he of all people knows how vicious they can be? Idk, I completely agree that Bruce would be the one to get them out, the question is just how?

My heart also breaks for Clark because this is obviously one of the last things he ever wanted to occur. Superman's love for humanity is obvious to everyone and the loss of his civilian identity destroys any chance of him being able to interact with them outside of his superhero identity. Its one thing having to wait for something in the media to 'blow over' but this isn't your everyday politic scandal or other media story, this is the reveal of the man behind one of the Trinity itself, the reveal of Superman. It could easily take months before it stops being the front page cover of every newspaper and after that, what then? How do they move forward?

And all of this doesn't even begin to consider the guilt Clark would feel for ruining Lois and the kids' lives. Everyone would reassure him it wasn't his fault but Clark would obviously take responsibility for this, telling himself he should have been more careful, more secretive, more vigilant. That as a result of his lack of caution, he'd ruined any chance his kids and Lois had at a (somewhat) normal life. I feel like I could even see him being embarrassed to accept Bruce's help, chastising himself for not planning for contingencies like Bruce had.

Sorry to dump all this on you, I'm just so intrigued by the aftermath of the reveal itself.

No it’s a very valid question! In that media/public world, getting them out of the public eye as quickly as possible is the number one priority. That doesn’t need to be attributed to Bruce right away, or even at all — the Kents (all of them) disappear as quickly as possible. They fly to an agreed-upon rendezvous or they are taken there by private security hired by Bruce.

Once there, that’s when the PR shitstorm hits. Superman and his family are found out, maybe there were a few brief videos of them leaving or being escorted out of their workplace (Lois) or flying away from their school (Jon) but nothing long, nothing conclusive.

The media cycle begins. Interviews with the Kent’s’ friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc proliferate the news. Everyone is cashing in on what they can. Bruce, if he’s smart, has Clark and his family locked down somewhere they can’t watch television and is handling the response on his own.

But the reality is, there is not much Bruce CAN do, for the reasons you mentioned. Publicly tying himself to Superman and his family puts WE under greater scrutiny. Coming out in defense of Clark’s lies suggests he 1) knew about them and 2) approves of Superman’s decision to hide from the public.

I’m not sure that conversation between friends will go well. Bruce telling Clark there’s no way to return to their previous lives, not without significant security risks (not to mention the social strain) and Clark spiraling as he realizes he’s inadvertently taken away his Ma’s knitting circle, Lois’ job, Jon’s school.

It’s all different now. If he’s lucky, Bruce has plans to funnel them into a sort of witness protection, maybe in a few years when things settle down. But that would mean splitting them up — and that’s non negotiable. Even keeping Ma and Pa together is a stretch. They’re too easily recognizable.

I imagine maybe Bruce can give them a sort of asylum in the Watchtower, operating outside of any Earth’s jurisdiction. But that puts scrutiny on the Justice League instead. And Bruce is the kind of person to keep the JL autonomous and take the heat on WE if needed — even if he never mentions it.

There are things that Bruce would need to step in on: connections starting to be made between himself and Clark, accusations of Clark not being a US citizen (and Jon too, but because he’s an alien) and Lois for lying to the US government. Accusations that the Justice League was culpable in any way for Superman’s civilian actions. Scrutiny on WE and how much Bruce Wayne knows or should know, or how his funding is connected to a JL that is now under investigation etc.

But yes: I think Bruce could get them out and hidden without tipping his hand. But everything else, yeah, he would need to step into the spotlight at least a little. And he would do that for Clark, because that’s his friend. He’s had this complex series of contingencies ready since…maybe Clark and Lois’ engagement?

Having been in some PR crises, you need a Bruce. Someone not affected directly and cool/calm enough to speak to media, move people around, and make judgement calls. Clark is lucky he has such a friend, even if he’s beating himself up over his own actions and missteps.

I have more (probably more coherent) thoughts about this, but that’s my initial reaction — Bruce gets them out fine, but next steps are very, very complicated. And things won’t ever be normal again.

Klee wanted to get a few pastries from the bakery in mondstadt, so he was put to the job. While he was returning, he heard the voice of a very familiar person. 'Oh? it seems like knight y/n is slacking off,' he thought to himself. He wanted to ask why you were here, but he stopped as soon as he understood the topic of your conversation with a colleague.

"Honestly, any man who is tall, dark-skinned, and has long hair is a solid 10/10 for me. They would be eye candy for sure." Your friend agreed with you saying,"Very real of you y/n, but why does that sound like someone WE know...". "We know someone who looks like this?" Kaeya is no fool. The description you provided does trace back to the only prominent figure in mondstadt that has the same features. He was breathing heavily, and his heart was thumping in his chest. "Wait... yeah, it does sound like someone we know..." "It's the cavalry captain kaeya, isn't it ?" There it is, there was his name. His eyes widened partly from shock and partly from relief, knowing that his secret crush also crushes on him. He peaked at you from the corner of his eye, and you were just as flushed as him. "Well he does look very...handsome. Do you think I should uhhh try telling him how I feel or should I wait some more?" you asked your friend.

He departed from the cafe where you were since he had to return. He hopes that you will come to tell him your feelings at the earliest. He's not that patient when it comes to his love life. It's better if you confess to him. Otherwise, he might have to step up his game...

Diluc heaved a sigh of relief. Getting his feelings reciprocated was one of the best things that ever happened to him. Not only was he a man of few words, but he also rarely showed his emotions. The prospect of being with you in the future, smiling with you, spending most of his time with you. You could be the very light that would shine upon him in his dark night.

Zhongli wouldn't deny that. That's just how he's been described all his life by people. But he felt sad because what if you pushed him away because of his personality?. He sighed and walked away since he couldn't leave work for so long with a heavy heart.

"I love him for who he is. He is a great guy his personality is nothing like how they make it up. He is rather sweet and gentle. How about I ask him out after his work has ended?". And thus marked the end of your conversation with your friend.

"Kaveh fits the standard for me! he looks just like a dream! how can you not like his personality, charisma, and his face." Your friend smiled and said, "Looks like you found who you like. Have a go at him. I'm sure he will show the same feelings as well." That had to be the best day of his life. Although you were unaware of his presence, he hoped that you would keep him in your mind until you confessed.

"You know, Mr. Fell, Mr. Crowley is really amazing. Now that he's part of the staff, we're getting more and more reviews of the planetarium website. They're all about your partner's work, and not one of them is negative."

Aziraphale, not a little proud to hear the demon being praised by someone other than himself, replied with a broad smile, "I'm not surprised. And I'm not just saying that because he's my partner. You know, it's the first thing I learned about him the day we met, his passion for the sky and the stars. So I'm really happy that you've given him a place to express it and share it with others, and that I'm no longer the only one to benefit from his knowledge and passion."

Aziraphale felt a hand rest on the small of his back as Crowley said in an amused tone, "Are you talking about me?"

Aziraphale leaned against the demon's hand and replied gently, "We were only saying good things, my dear."

The planetarium manager Aziraphale was talking to added, "I was just telling Mr. Fell how happy we are to have you with us."

Crowley, a little embarrassed by the compliments, simply nodded, then extended his hand to Aziraphale and said quietly, "Would you do me the honor of this dance?" then, realizing that this was a little rude to the director, added to him, "If you don't mind, of course."

The director laughed slightly and bowed to the couple, saying gently, "This is a night for entertainment, so I'll leave you young people to enjoy yourselves." 

Then he moved on to another group of people not far from them. 

Aziraphale turned to Crowley and, raising an eyebrow, said amusedly, "Young people? If he only knew."

Crowley chuckled softly and replied, still with his hand outstretched, "You haven't answered my question, Angel.

Aziraphale placed his hand in Crowley's and the demon led him to the center of the dance floor as the small orchestra played a romantic waltz.

They immediately began to sway to the rhythm of the music, and then Aziraphale, looking up at Crowley, said softly, "I know for a fact that you're doing an excellent job here. I've never doubted it, but you don't know how proud I am of you tonight and what you've accomplished here."

Crowley tilted his head and, resting his forehead against the Angel's, said softly, "Thank you for encouraging me to do this, Angel."

As they continued to dance, eye to eye, Aziraphale said in a whisper, "I have an incredible urge to kiss you, right now. But I also don't want to embarrass you in front of the people you work with."

A mischievous twinkle lit up Crowley's eyes before he held the angel a little tighter and whispered in his ear, "When this dance is over, I'm going to go out that door behind you, and you're going to wait two or three minutes so it doesn't look too suspicious, and then come and join me."

Aziraphale just nodded, and a few moments later, when the music stopped, the angel and the demon walked quietly toward the drinks corner. Crowley then walked away, heading, as he had said, for the door he had indicated to Aziraphale.

The angel waited a few moments, smiling, greeting a few of Crowley's colleagues he knew.

Then, with what he hoped was a natural attitude, he made his way to the door Crowley had used to leave the gala room. As the door closed, he felt a hand grasp his and was pulled by Crowley into a window alcove behind heavy velvet curtains that provided a perfect hiding place.

Aziraphale laughed lightly, but his laughter was quickly interrupted as the demon's lips landed on his in a passionate kiss. 

The angel quickly surrendered to this kiss of new sensations in the excitement of sucret, of hiding. Of course, Aziraphale and Crowley were used to doing things to hide from their respective sides, but it was always out of necessity. 

But here, to do it just because they could, for fun, because they felt like it, was absolutely delicious.

The sound of the door opening caused them to separate and, alert, they listened to the sound of footsteps approaching before moving away, then another door opening and closing before the hallway fell silent again. They looked at each other, then burst out laughing together at their own foolishness. 

When their laughter subsided, Aziraphale raised his hand to gently caress the demon's cheek before saying, "I want to reiterate what I told you earlier. I'm incredibly proud of you", then rising on tiptoe, he in turn pressed his lips to the demon's in another kiss every bit as passionate as the first.

A little later, slightly out of breath, they passed through the door of the gala room and returned to the dance floor.

As they danced alone in their own little world, they were unaware of certain looks from some of Crowley's associates.

Those who had secretly hoped their new colleague was unattached were now disappointed as they watched him dance with his partner.

No doubt his heart was taken and well taken.

I have a headcanon (based on official information) that Cedric's hair is stained because of the spell that damaged Cordelia's hair. "Ah but that's obvious", yes, I know, but I believe this happened specifically because he accidentally spilled a few drops of the potion on himself.

We don't really have an "explanation" of what happened, like, what happened? How on earth did his hair get stained when he threw the potion at Cordelia? It doesn't make sense So for me, a few drops accidentally fell on his hair and that's how that happened

I also find it interesting how at first it was just a few strands of hair, and then as he got older it became the whole fringe. What happened, did the spell spread? What???

And after he managed to discover the potion's ingredients and finally fix Cordelia's hair, why didn't he fix his?

Does he not care about his hair? Because even if he didn't care, it wouldn't hurt to just do a spell to revert it back to his natural color. Maybe he chose not to change because now he is satisfied with his hair. Maybe he had to accept his hair during his childhood years and as he got older he got used to it, and it became a part of him. Maybe he has an emotional attachment to those bangs that he had to put up with for many, many years, and that sometimes made him want to dye his hair because it stood out too much from other people.

Maybe when he was a child or teenager he muttered "I wish I could make that horrible hair disappear", especially on the days when he suffered mean comments from some colleagues at Hexley Hall or when he remembered to himself what his family/people say about him, because this hair would forever be a reminder of Cordelia and the horrible mistake he made, as if he needed to carry this mark with him as punishment and he was already tired of it.

That forever mark on the front of his hair was a reminder of what he did and how much of a failure and an embarrassment he was to his family, that spells always go wrong, and that he was an idiot... it would make sense to want to disappear with it.

But after the years passed he got used to the sight and it stopped being a nuisance. I would like to say that it's something he carries with pride and has already accepted about himself, but I still don't think it's exactly that, he doesn't love himself completely but he doesn't hate himself either, it's not black or white like that. See, I think it makes sense that he accepted his mistake and deserved this "punishment" that was thrown at him. It's like "ah, it's okay, it can be like this. I deserve this after all. Well, let's get on with the day."

He no longer spends as much time lamenting and suffering as he did in childhood, but rather accepting his condition and being so used to it that for him it's almost as if it were his natural hair color from now on. And yes, his hair doesn't really represent a journey of self-love, but rather one of acceptance (in a good way). He understands his mistake (even though he's still confused because he's almost sure it wasn't his fault, the spell was simple, he said it himself. But after everyone had repeated for so long that it was his fault he started to feel like it was, and now it is). It's a reminder of the mistake he made and a reminder to try hard and not make any more mistakes. And as a result, he lived with that hair for around 25-30 years, and became so used to it that it became a part of him, that sometimes he even forgets that it was because of a spell, and that if it weren't for that, his hair it would still be black today.

(Actually not completely black, I believe some of the gray in his hair comes from age and stress/his habits, but you got what I said).

In the end, when Cordelia managed to get her hair back, it crossed Cedric's mind to get his old hair back too. But he decided not to, that it would be like taking away a part of him and his story. It's not just a symbol of the mistakes he made, now it was part of his identity as a person and it was an extension of him, he's already endured a lot with that hair, he's cried because of it, he's pulled it out in anger, he's carried it with him everywhere, he was bullied because of it, he laughed with it, he grew up with it, everyone knows him like that. And that's why he decided to leave his hair the way it was :)

He doesn't hate his white bangs anymore, in fact, he knows it's a part of him and that he couldn't just undo it after having lived with it for so long. After all, it would be like removing a birthmark for example, one that it took him his entire life to understand, calm down and accept that it's a part of him now.

"My hair was also affected by the spell, do you think you're the only one who suffered the consequences? If I simply "ruined" your hair, I wouldn't have done it to myself too!"

"That's because you're just stupid, can't even ruin my hair without doing something wrong in the process!"

These are super rough, but i just wanted to share some tidbits from the fics i've plotted but not sure whether i would write in full. All are from different stories:

A.

"Darius?! Darius! Please, please, wake up!"

The voice is sending pinpricks of pain right through his brain. Darius opens his eyes. Everything is swaying. It feels like all the energy has been drained out of him. What happened? He blinks groggily and attempts to sit up.

"You're alive!" Eda's human ward - Luz - lets go of his shoulder and mutters something in a language Darius doesn't understand. "Is Eda all right? Everyone else?"

"Where are we?" He doesn't recognize the place. There are lines of strange glyphs around the two of them. "And what are you doing here?" he demands. He doesn't like this. Where are the other kids? His head is still foggy. The Ceremony. The fight. The translocation. "Yes, Eda and the rest should be safe. Are you here alone?"

Luz twists her mouth into a forced smile, "Well, you see... But first ugh..." Her eyes shift. "Please don't freak out..." she mutters.

Is she looking at his arm? He follows her gaze to his sigil...

B.

Raine knew that look. Imperious and somewhat disgusted, as if he had just seen something so beneath him that it fascinated and repulsed him in equal measures yet wasn't worth a verbal reaction. That look was enough to shut up even the oldest Coven Heads. Only... Raine couldn't recall it ever being directed at them.

Then the boy's lower lip wobbled, and the illusion was shattered.

C.

"I assume the Great Demon King has not heard the blood-curdling tale of Brie the Blimp?"

"Brie the Blimp?" Ha! The name was catchy. But King had his mission.

"Oh, yes," the witch said. The abomination on his head shifted. "The mysterious and frightening witch-eating flying apparatus." He raised an eyebrow and then nodded towards the window. "They say she prowls the skies on nights just like this."

"And?" King asked - just in case. He had to find Eda, but this was something new. He needed the intel!

"Oh, I don't know," the witch leaned his head on his hand. "Perhaps this story is too much..."

"No!" King objected. "The King of Demons is not afraid of some old nursery story. I demand to hear the blood-calling... blood-curling tale of the evil Blimp!"

"Hmm, all right," the man smiled, "if you insist."

King grabbed one of the abomination toys closer to himself - also just in case - and plopped down to listen.

"It all started one bright and peaceful morning..."

"Oh my Titan! Are you Perry Porter?!" one of the scouts squealed. "From the Crystal Ball? For real?!"

"Yes, yes," Perry forced himself to say. Normally he would be embarrassed, but this time was different. "Glad to meet a fan..."

"Do you even know who this is?" the scout pestered their colleague who shrugged non-comittally.

"I love seeing you on the Crystal Ball!" the first scout addressed Perry again.

"Thank you. But can I help you?" Perry knew his voice sounded polite, but his heart was pounding. Here we go.

"We are looking for dangerous rebels, potentially wild witches," the less enthusiastic scout announced. "They were seen in the vicinity of your house. Have you noticed any suspicious activity?"

"I don't think so," Perry answered. "But there is a forest behind these houses, it would be easy to hide there."

"Are you sure you didn't see anyone?"

"Come on," the chatty scout interrupted them. "It's Perry Porter! He would've noticed if the rebels were here. Thank you for your time!"

No, thank you.

"No problem."

"Oh, wow, this Construction Coven's book is surely a brick," Luz waved the book in front of herself. Judging by the blank stares, the joke didn't land.

"The most prominent figures of the Construction Craft, tome 2," Skara read the title from below.

"Sounds fun," Luz started - she had a really good one...

"Hey!"

Eberwolf grabbed the book right out of her hands, and she nearly fell down the ladder. Eber hurried to the other side of the room, put the book on the desk and began hastily turning over the pages as if looking for something specific. Then they seemed to find that something. He read the page, chirping almost silently to themselves and tugging on his mane from time to time.

"Eber?" Darius had stopped mending the abominations and came up to stand by them.

Eber shook their head, jumped down the chair and silently trotted out of the room, leaving the book on the table.

Darius sighed.

"What happened?" Skara asked.

Luz leaned to look in the book. There was a portrait.

"Galatea Vault," Darius said. "She was the Construction Coven Head before Mason."

My weekly roundup CW 18

I try to write down my thoughts after watching stuff to create a little weekly ranking in relation to the previous week on my, most of the times, quiet sundays (and because I love lists!). These are just my personal opinions and preferences.

And yes, this will contain spoilers!

☼ 1. Love Mate

I am thrilled and I decided to ignore the permanent crossing of boundaries. The series is so funny and not in a too embarrassing way. I cringe insanely fast and here it really kept within limits because the jokes just ended in time and were not exhausted until it hurts. We have grumpy-I-don't-believe-in-love-guy and the sunshine-I-fell-in-love-with-you-at-first-sight-guy (and yes, those are their names for me now) and the two have good chemistry and I just go awww. Grumpy guy is actually already smitten, just doesn't want to admit it to himself that someone has managed to break through his shell. And sunshine guy is just an idiot in love, who knows no boundaries and would do anything to convince his crush that love can be beautiful. And I am sitting in the front row rooting for him. Maybe because I can identify too much with grumpy-guy and find it quite nice to watch his heart slowly being conquered. Great series! Clear recommendation!

→ 2. My Story

Cutest scene this week goes to:

Zeke and Fifth are such flirts with each other and they both know they like the other and I think Zeke knows Fifth likes him too, it's just Fifth hasn't quite figured out that Zeke likes him too. There's still the belief that the latter might have a crush on Kim. Oh my little Fifth…you two are inseparable, Zeke doesn't leave your side unless you intentionally leave him behind, he is constantly flirting with you and bringing you coffee in bed. He actively and repeatedly seeks your proximity and wants you as a nude model! How many more clues do you need!? The preview for the next episode looks very promising! The main couple? Still not of interest to me. I lost interest in their story at some point and currently have no plans to get back in. They are not bad, Zeke and Fifth are just way cuter together.

↑ 3. Our Dining Table

How nice that the two of them ran into each other and Yutaka was able to experience the magic of the mother's special recipe. And when Minoru saw how differently his friend treated Tane and how Yutaka treated him, I think that was the moment when he finally fell in love. The look he gave Yutaka definitely speaks volumes. The story has some deeper parts, but it's still such a feel-good watch during the week. Some mid-week relaxation.

↓ 4. Happy Merry Ending

I think we all know that SeungJun's best friend is in love with him. Drama preprogrammed? We will have to wait and see. But I'm afraid this is a feast for writers. I'd like to see a plot twist like this, when you think that the two main characters get together and in the end it's the best friend who has also been in love with one of them for ages who becomes endgame (yes, my wish for The Promise). Won't happen, but I'd think it would be cool. Other than that, we got to see cute scenes between the characters and a bit of SeungJun's past, which is really not pleasant and I can get why he is how he is. Best scene so far is definitely the last scene of episode four when JaeHyun encourages SeungJun. Even though I was a little disappointed that they didn't dance with each other. Let's wait until the hand holding, then that will be my little tummy tickling scene!

↑ 5. Step by Step

I really enjoyed this episode again. What a roller coaster of emotions here! Maybe it was because the colleagues didn't appear that often and Jeng was also a bit more bearable again. At least he takes to heart what the employees have to say about him. And honestly, I love the looks he gives Pat! I was going to make a gifset, but then Photoshop broke, and after trying five times, reinstalling the application a zillion times, and ending up throwing Adobe completely off my computer, I figured there's currently a curse on it, I'm not touching the scenes again! But I think it won't be the last time he looks at Pat with that loving look. Such a handsome man. I'm a sucker for men in suits, but in this case, casual black shirts look soooo much better. As for the plot…I was too distracted by Jeng 😂

↓ 6. La Pluie

The mood of this week goes to:

It could have been over so easily and so quickly…well, Phat took his fate into his own hands and fell in love…That is shit. And in the end, I really just sat there and kept asking myself: What's happening right now? Are Tai and Lomfon falling for each other? What? And the scene where our precious vet is making out with someone and it starts to rain and Tai hears everything…that hurt amazingly bad. It left me speechless for a moment. I'm really curious to see where the journey goes. But I found a new motto this week: Unfuck it! Love it! Tian is the best! Someone needs to give him a really big hug. The poor kid is going through enough with his brothers and his arch-nemesis, who he's slowly falling for and who is slowly falling for his brother himself. Or this is just to get closer to Tian or just a representation of how people can bond over what they have in common without anything romantic having to happen right away, but I think we're all so influenced by our bl series that guys/men immediately flirt with each other and fall in love when there's common ground and a lively conversation. Just saw that the series is marked 18+ on MDL. Just wondering what made them give it that rating. iQiyi has it rated 13+.

↑ 7. Naked Dining

Okay, the moon thing was really cute. The moon means "I love you" and Mahori panics because he's already sent it. Honey, don't worry, Futa sends back a picture of the moon and everyone is happy! The female colleague will definitely make trouble, because of course now she has noticed how great Futa actually is or because she has been in love with him for a long time anyway. I don't really like this pretend you're my boyfriend acts because it always ends up with the girl falling in love and provoking drama. On the cuter hand, I thought it was cute when Mahori confessed having a crush on someone.

↓ 8. The Promise

Why do you have to drag everything out sooo much? Come on! These two like each other. This game is getting boring. Let them get together! And not just in a dreamed up deleted scene. What was that? I have no idea where to place that scene. Did either of them dream this? And if so, when? When Nan was in Party's arms? And Party, my man…you really are one of the best! Phu…get off your duff. Have faith in your best friend that even if he doesn't love you back, he won't abandon you. And Nan, please listen to your heart. I really feel like I write the same thing every week. I probably do, because a blind man with a cane can see that they like each other, but nothing seems to progress! It's frustrating!

↓ 9. A Boss and a Babe

Okay, so the topics are tough at times and yet the series feels like light banter to me. You know what I mean? It's dramatic with rape and drug trafficking and prison, and yet you feel like you're sweeping through the series light as a feather. I'm sure that's a little bit due to the characters. Even when dramatic scenes are shown, they are immediately grinned away in the next scene or covered up by love talk. The tragedy of many things doesn't really reach the viewer. And I won't go into Gun's mother for a moment. She wants to protect her son and especially the name of the family, which I can understand. The way it's done is just off, but really not as bad as in some other series or movies. And Cher doesn't let himself be kept away from Gun, which was kind of sweet in the end.

☼ 10. House of Stars

It was a mixture of boredom and drama and sex. I think the series is trying to go in the same direction as War of Y, but with less production budget and, sorry, a worse script. We have the mistress of the house who sets the rules and everyone obeys her. We have the little yet unknown one, who will fall in love with the nice seeming model student in the next episode, we have the competing pair, where you don't know exactly what's going on, we have the two in love, where I'm not sure if they are already a couple or not yet and we have the stalker, who finds the aggressive, heterosexual one so horny, that he watches him having sex and then lays hands on himself. And all this is accompanied by boring table talk and out-of-place fanservice scenes. Yes, this first episode has not quite picked me up yet.

↓ 11. Our Skyy 2

What's the point of intentionally hurting your partner just so you can have the satisfaction of surprising him in the end? That would have also worked if you had congratulated him and gone to the celebration from the outset and then just sneaked out. I'm angry about all this crap drama. It really overshadowed everything for me. And yes, I knew Our Skyy was going to be cringy, but it does really hurt. I'm really scared of when my favorites are on that it's going to spoil some of the original series for me….

↓ 12. Tin Tem Jai

I don't even bother to organize my thoughts - that's how little I care about the series in the end. Why were they fighting in the mall now? What was that hard cut and anyway…why that scene? A no-park zone??? How old is Tin!??! And was it really legal for Park to have sex with him? Their conversations are just so exhausting! Why is Park annoyed with Tin? I don't get it! That whole scene with your face is annoying….what was that for? Okay, now that's what I call abuse of power in a relationship with age difference…If Tin doesn't do what Park asks (i.e. not take the job that can benefit him professionally later and miss three days of college), then it's over? Wow.

I don't want to talk to Wikipedia right now….funniest scene of the week.

And what a drama with the mother in the last episode…Was that necessary? That was a bit much drama…And what exactly happened to Kana and Pao? They were just left behind on the track…At least I found them interesting and I would have liked to know how they are doing now. No…That was not good!

Doyoung- Nct....Red + Green Flags

Okay.........Wasn't expecting this from Doyoung but he has HIGH sexual needs and desires, and may go about expressing this inappropriately. He could lust after women's bodies often, and slickly (like I could even see him doing it on camera to other female kpop idols, watch him guys and you might see this behavior). The thing is hes soo inconspicuous when hes being a pervert (I say this somewhat lightly), that friends and the object of his lust would never know hes desires/intentions.

There's a reason these cards are falling out when I ask about his red flags, so i think this behavior is extreme and may even be creepy.

He could be a man that lacks restraint or just does not know when to stop (especially when his mind is already set). He really does take things to the extreme (I wonder if hes a munch as well)

Even with his jokes/roast, he could take them to the extreme and really hurt someone. He can be petty as well, like embarrassing someone in public with his hurtful jokes to get back at them for something. (Don't make Doyoung your enemy, he gets his revenge one way or another. By the time he strikes, his victim is none the wiser of what Doyoubg may even be planning)

Doyoung is quite stuffy, uptight a d conventional. I sense he can't take jokes about very well and (once again) can say extreme rebuttals to jokes at his expense. For an example: let's say a member was jokingly calling Doyoung a fool/ stupid in front of other ppl " Ah Doyoung your a babo", he could respond offended, " How am I the babo when you shitted on yourself after the concert a week ago" . Like you guys see how extreme he could take jokes, to where he reveals really personal/embarrassing things. (I'm sure members know to be careful with how they joke with Doyoung)

Hes a very old fashioned, out of date guy. He doesn't know how to talk or interact with women, hes no charmer and he may know that. He could be insecure at his lack of charming abilities and try to make up for it by like buying women's affection or throwing around his wealth, prestige and educatedness to seem more charming(but most women would just see him as arrogant, and honestly he is).

Hes quite romantic and have a lot of romantic fantasies that he wishes to act on (lacks confidence due to lack of charm). But he does hold a lot of chivalry and gentleman behavior that he does, like he may have a rules for himself about his behavior in front of others. So generally, he always appears respectful to others

He knows his faults well, not only in the romance department but even in his career. He may know he lack, let's say in the looks department compared to some other members or that he doesn't dance as well as others so he would try to make up for that with having amazing singing abilities (you guys may not agree but this is his mindset and honestly, it will bring him a lot of success to be realistic with himself, it's also why hes one of the favorites of his company).

He knows how to relay hard truths to himself but to others as well, whether or not their feelings get hurt in the process, they still get the truth from Doyoung. (Hes probably the go to member for when others need hard-hitting, cold, true advice)

He could be quite warm and caring of others, he reads others wants quite well, so hes the type to take care of you without even being told to. He could hold a femininity to him as well, like wanting to be a pleaser (now I definitely think hes a munch). He holds an innocence to him, that also makes others want to care for him and protect him

He is dealt a great deal of respect and most colleagues of his are assured hes capable of doing a job properly. He knows how to give and command respect, he also holds a lot of love, care and respect for older women in his life (like his mom, grandma etc...)

Thursday 10 pm. Richard stood in front of the bookshelf. he has a Day off but it was a day between his workdays in the cloudbase. He felt bother to go back to his home for a day, so he decided staying his room and cleaning his air plane models. In such a day off, he usually make the plane models or go to workout. He likes it because it makes him forget to think of any Trouble.

“Hmm… I should  I' ll take some of them to home at next holidays.”

He murmured and cleaning his favorite models. Five mini-fireflash lined on the corner of the shelf.

When He put back one of them, The buzzer rang suddenly.

“Come in.”

He looked back to the door, Pat stood there with smile. He wore his uniform yet, but he relaxed. Richard didn’t felt Pat’s enthusiastic atmosphere what Pat has while he is working.

“Pat, how about your job? I’m on the day off.”

“I just finished my shift. Did you forget I got compensatory day off?”

“I see. for When you and Brad worked on off day for Paul and Adam?”

“Right. They were Isolated by Infectious disease test.”

“Uh-huh.”

“I’ll go back to Dublin tomorrow but It’s a little bit late to ride a transport.”

“So What?”

Patrick chuckled with embarrassed expression.

“…I couldn't help going to your room.”

He shrugged.

Where is his usual brazen attitude? Rick said in his mind.

He smiled and hugged Pat who came into the room.

“How frustrated are you?”

“Don’t think of me like a bitch.”

Patrick frowned but somehow he off his jacket.

Rick seemed to thinking “Why he off his jacket in such a situation?” 

He knew Pat doesn’t mean it. he usually off the jacket at the door in private situation, because he doesn't want to bring pollen and dust in the room.

“…Would you start here something?”

“Stop it!”

Pat opened his eyes and poked him.

“Forget it. I teased you too much.”

Pat just chuckled and didn’t answer soon and hugged him.

“Rick”

Pat said quietly.

“It's certainly sad that we can't be a lover at the base, but It doesn't matter that we just meet.”

“Okay, okay, I surrender my boss…”

Hehehe…Pat chuckled. 

“I’m not your boss.”

Pat said with mischievously. his voice sound charming for Rick.

“I know you are impatient man but you should go back to your room and change your clothes at first.”

“Hehe…could you borrow me your clothes?”

"Gee…"

See Pat’s smile, Rick sighed with smile.

After that, they were lying around in bed and watching movie on Tablet.

“Look, he is sooo resemble to Brad isn’t he?”

“MI6 agent fighting with aquaphibians? Haha, sound interesting.”

It was an old movie. They enjoyed their time as if they about to forget where they are.

“I wish I were in my home right now. um…your home was also fine.”

“Yep.”

Rick answered and snuggled up to Pat.

They usually can be one of their colleagues for each other in the base. 

Whether there was a public eyes or not, it didn't change. Pat had never came to his room without changing his uniform or clothes.

Soon Rick thought What happened to him, Pat hugged him from behind.

“Rick,”

Pat kissed his cheek.

“What?”

“..I'm glad you're fine.”

He hugged more strongly.

“What are you saying? I’m fine.”

Then, Rick remembered about what happened to himself few weeks ago. when he threw Mysteron’s explosive-it came from the moon- from the base, he risked to be thrown out to the sky because he shoot the window.

Rick grabbed Pat’s arm, felt his own blood turn cold.

“I never mind about the dead policeman.”

Pat said gentle but clearly tone.

“But Richard Frazer is my love.”

Yes, I'm definitely fine.

Rick murmured in his mind. Then he was feeling Pat’s temperature which a little warmer than average.

“For me, You should live longer than me.”

Pat murmured in his ear.

When Rick felt his cheeks on his cheeks, he felt like to shed tears as it was.

So, I've noticed a lot of people saying they'd be embarrassed if they were Childe, since Neuvillette knocked him out. But I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about a characteristic of Childe I like: his unashamedness. I don't think (in hindsight) Childe will mind Neuvillette knocked him out, because he'd be another powerful future opponent he could face and learn from.

In his 'About Tartaglia' voiceline it says: "A warrior must always be ready to face any challenge with his blade. The outcome of the battle is irrelevant - what matters is you learn from the experience." With the whole debacle over and Childe given ample time to process getting jumped, he'd wish to gain experience from Neuvillette in his never-ending pursuit of getting stronger.

I can think of a few examples of his unabashed attitude, which I'll bring up here. The first being his story quest (like all of it). I remember having a blast at how deep of a hole he dug just to keep the toy seller lie alive to Teucer. I also remember folks saying they got second-hand embarrassment, which is also hilarious.

The most famous example of Childe's unashamed attitude, to keep Teacher unaware of his Fatui affiliation during debt collection, he yells out he's the greatest toy salesman... whilst clapping. It was the height of comedy to me. Despite the ridicule from the Treasure Hoarders, Paimon's hesitation, and even Travellers criticism (in private), he kept the bit up.

Another great example is his speech in front of his subordinates:

That is the face of a man who knows this is gonna be painful- I'm having the time of my life. His subordinates merely nod along and agree (which is also so funny like anything to keep a Harbinger happy). It's excruciating, it's incredible.

Arguably, he did it out of love and to protect Teucer's childhood, and I definitely do think that factors into it. But, his willingness to yell about the marketplace, to keep up the act in front of subordinates, it just shows his dedication to the bit. Reputation be damned.

It is worth mentioning that, as well as being generally confident (even if he ends up humiliating himself), Childe enjoys the spotlight. In his Character Story 2, it states: "Tartaglia will often go to watch public performances - occasionally even becoming part of the show himself." Showing his frivolous nature and his love to perform. Added onto that, during the Labyrinth Warriors event, Paimon mentions Childe knows how to dance (which, first of all, when did we learn that, second of all, can I see that?).

And of course, In his Delusion Description it says: "Nor did he pay any mind to the odd looks his new 'colleagues' gave him, for the opinions and bellyaches of others meant nothing to him,". Now, in that context I can see that meaning he just doesn't value them due to the way they operate. But, I also think that can add onto how other people's views (besides his family's) washes off his back. When he sets his heart to something, he does it, regardless of what others think.

Overall? I just wanted an excuse to splurge about Childe's character. It's why I came here in the first place. I have loads more to say about him, since he's my favourite character. I just love how he conducts himself with such confidence, even if it ends up backfiring. I absolutely cannot wait for the insanity to follow when he next appears in Fontaine. Hmm, y'know this is really funny considering we know more about what he eats in the books than any other character in the whole franchise. No joke, there is enough in all of them to put together a menu and eat like Joey Drew for a day if you wanted to. Like I am convinced he considers himself a mac and cheese connoisseur after the opening to the employee handbook, that is definitely a favorite. Also enamored with his talk of Cheerios in TIOL, that bit was great, sir you are too much. I don't know if he actually likes them or if he's just trying to be likable as per usual, but I do think he's eaten Cheerios but they aren't his favorite.

So I'm gonna go with a favorite in three categories. Favorite lunch/dinner is mac and cheese, hands down. Favorite breakfast? He strikes me as the kind of guy that would get giddy for pancakes with fresh fruit and bacon (I can see him trying to make this happen when Audrey is little, that would be cute). He has a sweet tooth, but it's not the same as Sammy's. I think for dessert, he's a pie kind of guy. Give that man a fruit pie and he will be happy as a clam.

Stuff he doesn't like though? That's harder. I'm gonna say he doesn't like ham. He's tried so hard to like ham, but there's something off about it. He hates this because he loves bacon, they come from the same animal, he should like ham! But he doesn't! And he has to sit there and suck it up at holiday dinners with colleagues lest anyone finds out that he doesn't like ham, that would be so embarrassing for him specifically (there is nothing wrong with not liking ham but liking bacon, this is a hill I will die on). Gonna say he's also got an aversion to cabbage and sauerkraut, which is gonna really suck because I get the sense Henry would like that. In my head Henry has a love for golabki and sauerkraut filled pierogi. Joey strikes me as an adventurous eater but gets very particular about what he likes, while Henry is the one who likes almost anything you put in front of him but tends to ask for what he knows.

Send pictures you know they can’t ignore? Would they actually just show up at your office door with a bouquet of flowers and embarrass you in front of your colleagues (make everyone jealous)? 🤍 anon!!! It's been a minute. I hope you've been doing okay and, no worries lol. I just got back from the gym and poured myself a drink. I know it's going to be a bit before people can get into full sleepover mode lol.

Also, onions lmao. I see you frequent Ems's blog as well. I'll put my thoughts below the cut because I know they'll get long.

Chris - I think Chris would have an internal battle about it. On the one hand, he knows you're busy and you need to get work done. He has firsthand experience with how important it is not to let people disrupt your focus. On the other hand, he's just wants your attention so bad. Practically fighting himself not to quadruple text you. I think he'd probably eventually cave and send a message along the lines of 'I hope work's good. Miss you a lot. Can't wait to see you <3'

Minho - Not to be cliché but, Minho is a cat through and through. And by that I mean I think he's the type not to explicitly say he wants your attention but, his actions obviously betray him. If you're working from home, he'll just happen to be in the room around you more but, won't say a word. Probably sits as close to you as he can without hindering your work. If you're away from home, tries to be subtle over text. 'Are you still working?' 'When is your shift over?' 'Do you want me to pick you up today?' type of energy.

Changbin - Seo Changbin does not care lmao. And I don't mean he doesn't care in the sense that he's inconsiderate that you're busy. He's similar to Chris in that way. I mean moreso he's not shy about letting you know he wants your attention and misses you. Will have a whole conversation with himself in your chats, will sent you pictures of him pouting and pretending to be sad, might even pull out the big guns and tempt you with some pictures of him looking less than innocent. Lots of arms and thighs. He isn't afraid to play a little dirty.

Hyunjin - The love child of Chris and Changbin. I think he'd debate with himself about letting you know how much he wants your attention. He'd second guess himself about being too needy, interrupting you while you're working etc. However, I think his desire to talk to you would win over his trepidation. Not quite having conversations with himself in your chat but, he will text you over the course of a few hours. 'Miss you, can't wait till you get home,' 'Look, I made soup for dinner!' 'Kkami misses you too :('

Jisung - Changbin on steroids once he gets over his anxiety about wanting to just talk to you. While I think Jisung isn't the type to be shy or hesitant about his affection, I do think that only happens once he's hyped himself up enough. Really asks himself whether his texts will bother you, upset you, ruin your concentration etc. I do think letting him know from previous interactions that you love when he let's you know he's thinking of you will help a tonne. Once he's sure you wouldn't mind, sends whole novels, albums of photos, audios. Jisung is doing it all.

Felix - I think he's moreso the type to send one heartfelt message to let you know you're on his mind and he wants to spend time with you when you're free. Uses 600 hearts in it too. Also, I think if the feeling hits him while he's close to your work, he'll definitely swing by with a 'I was thinking about you' gift. Maybe it's a drink from your favourite coffee place. Maybe it's lunch. Maybe it's your favourite flowers. If he's really in his feelings, maybe it's all three lol. While we all know Felix is the king of affection in Stray Kids but, I don't think he'd be too overbearing about it.

Seungmin - Seungmin is an interesting one. I actually think he'd operate in a similar way to Minho. Very much the type to be like 'I'm not going to explicitly say I want to be around you but, I will whine in our chats until you come home.' Then he will proceed to cling to you for atleast three hours. I don't think he's a very physically affectionate guy generally but, he definitely has his moments and wanting your attention is one of them.

The reason why Jean clings to authority and control is because he is actively trying to conform to the institution that hates mentally ill people like him.

I feel like it shows how the System creates resentment/competitiveness among marginalised people. We know Jean isn't as good of a detective as Harry so he has to make up for it by being "put together" and managing his precinct.

So when Harry, after 15 years of working himself to death, starts to “break down” (aka he is not being able to do his job anymore and further damages the reputation of the precinct), Jean becomes frustrated

While there are understandable grievances Jean has with Harry as he, as his satellite officer, is expected to clean his mess, he still treats Harry with a lot of prejudice due to internalized ableism. Instead of looking at the bigger picture and realizing it's the institution that is hurting them both, Jean just starts to blame only Harry and assume worst intentions from him

Harry isn't actually suffering, he just makes excuses for himself. Harry’s relapses are him not trying hard enough to improve, and definitely *not* the result of him being forced to a be work effectively while disabled and ill. Harry doesn't actually have amnesia, he is just lying to escape consequences for his actions. Harry is an insane, manipulative psychopath who “betwitches people” into feeling sorry for him. Etc etc you get my drill

In addition Jean seems to have a typical mentality of “I am not like other mentally ill people/addicts. I am a professional. I hold myself together. I have value. You can't replace me”

I said that before somewhere but the tribunal was probably never really about *firing* Harry (even though Jean can do that). I mean, Harry is waaaaaay too much of a prolific detective to just be fired and Pryce himself seems to want him around

Honestly it just seems like Jean just wanted to have a little *power trip* over Harry, who is in a very vulnerable position and can't really “fight back” (not without Kim and Cuno)

I think it explains why Jean is so “fidgety". He is very agitated at Harry but tries very hard to stay as collected and professional as possible because he needs ro be better than Harry and he doesn't want to lose any leverage he has over him at that moment

You also have to remember he just pretty much sat there for a week in an embarrassing wig and sunglasses in front of (as it turned out) *respected* Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi. So obviously now when he is actually trying to be authoritarian he is nervous and tries his best to make up for such a blunder lol

I also don't really agree with the notion Jean is "deferring" to Harry’s authority. It's not that Jean never listens to Harry but I feel like Harry doesn't have nearly as much power, authority or respect among his colleagues as some in fandom believe. Look how Chester and Mack treat Harry - he is a joke to them! He is Dick Mollen, a shitkid, not the lieutenant double yefrieter! Harry can try to request money and no one gives a shit. Also fun fact: if you try to call the station for personal information when Jean and Judit are already at the Whirling, Jules says there has been an order to not disclose any info to Harry. Like what the fuck guys?? Did Jean really ordered Jules to do that and Harry can't even do anything about it??😭😭😭

So when I hear people say "oh Jean leaving when Harry told him to fuck off is a display of Jean following Harry's order" I cant help but go: is it thoughhh🤨🤨

Like what kind of man would look at the scene where his drunk partner literally screaming hysterically, breaking thing, and talking crazy shit about the abyss and go "ah yes he totally has all the faculties to mea everything he is saying, guess there is nothing I can do but fuck off like he told us too" Like?? This is so not serious 😭😭

Jean himself says that they "would give Harry a few days to pull himself together". His whole plan was to just leave Harry until he cools off, wear a wig and sunglasses to cheer him up and hopefully things would just return to normal. Too bad Jean underestimated the severity of Harry's anguished mental state and that leaving him alone during his lowest moment would have irreversible consequences

Basically my point is that while Jean cares about Harry, he doesnt have much respect towards his authority. Not anymore at least

The time when Jean *is* deferring to someone's authority actually seems to be with Kim (at least by the time of the tribunal).

Like in the Whirling Jean pretty much just ignored Kim and did not acknowledge him in any meaningful way. what a dick honestly

But then suddenly during the tribunal he immediately changes his tune with yes lieutenant Kitsuragi 🥺🥺, of course lieutenant Kitsuragi 🤧🤧 , we would be honored to have you Lieutenant Kitsuragi 😤😤Like boy you sure have changed your tune fast when you realized that Kim is a rather important and competent cop huh. really trying to be in Kim's good graces now lol

anyway what I was going with it. Somethig somwthign capitalism something something ableism something something proving your worth to a conditional system that doesnt care about you

a very interesting (and endearing, at least to me) detail about jean's character is how he tends to fix himself during a confrontation. (long post ahead)

despite the fact he looks just fine, he does it to self-soothe more than anything, because he knows he has no control over the situation. so if he can't get through harry, at least he's in control of how he looks. and he can look BETTER, more put together than harry, so he makes sure to show him that. every time.

constantly readjusting, correcting, dusting himself off every time he's confronting his former partner because i think he has a severe inferiority complex (since harry outranks him and refuses to accept any promotion, which makes jean perpetually stuck as a satellite-officer, tied to a self-destructive man who's also good at what he does + harry has had a chance at a love that's so redeeming that he pictures her as the game's equivalent of God, a love that jean desperately yearns for so he hates harry for blowing it, and hates himself for never finding such a love despite the fact he's more put together than harry, or so he claims) that flares up every time harry's in the vicinity. i don't think jean has problems asserting himself when harry's not around, though. we've seen that here.

jean's perfectly capable of being authoritative, and has power over his colleagues, contrary to popular belief on this website. of course, provided harry's not there.

because he'll start slipping every time. his body language is also incredibly stiff, i'm assuming it's to seem like he's composed, but that falls apart when you notice how many times he struggles with his breathing, how many times he has to collect himself.

naturally, since kim also outranks him, jean behaves the same way with him although less emotional. he loses the spite, turns a little more submissive, though his pride doesn't completely disappear, like authority indicates. i also believe it's because kim didn't address him properly, therefore jean didn't feel the need to extend more than basic respect towards him.

it's very interesting to see, since he seems to have this ongoing inner conflict between his pride and his self-hatred. believing he's better than harry, yet crumbling at his presence. laying down and taking it, then suddenly revolting. being in control until the reason you're forced to take control shows up, then suddenly you're not in control anymore and you have to fix your hair and your tie and dust your suit and cough to look like you have your shit together. to prove that you're better. jean's trying to tell harry that he's BETTER than him! that's why he does all of that shit! he's terrified of ending up like that! he's even more terrified of the fact that despite being the mess he is, harry IS better than him! HELLO!

In front of the elevator, Hob asked Dream in a worried tone, "Are you okay?"

Dream answered for the fifth time in a laconic tone, "Yes."

Since Dream had come to pick him up while Hob had stayed to work long after his classes were over. But since they'd left the teachers' room, Hob had received nothing but monosyllabic answers from his lover.

As the elevator doors closed on them, Hob insisted, "Dream, I can see you're not well."

Dream began pacing the elevator before stopping in front of Hob: "Yes, I'm not well, and it's your fault. I'm upset because once again Hob Gadling, Mr. I'm Doing Everyone a Favor, has stayed at work much later than expected."

"But how do you know that..."

Dream raised his hand to interrupt, "Stop! That's not the point. I know because I know. For example, I know that there were other colleagues who could do this replacement, but that you insisted on doing it because those colleagues had families. Doesn't that kind of contradict what you said? You know your fine words about how now that we're living together, you have a reason to come home early."

Dream crossed his arms and turned away from Hob.

Hob, who looked embarrassed because he knew Dream was right, sighed, "I know, Dream, I'm sorry, really sorry. It's just that I don't know how else to function. It's all very new to me after centuries of functioning this way. But I promise I'll try. Dream... Please look at me. I hate it when you turn away from me."

Dream turned and, seeing that Hob was sincere, sighed, "I believe you... I also know that I am in no position to judge you, but..."

Hob put his hand on Dream's arm and replied quietly, "No, I understand. I promise I'll be more considerate."

Dream nodded and was about to lean in and kiss him when the elevator made a strange noise before a shudder caused them both to stumble.

Hob almost fell forward, but Dream caught him.

"What's going on?" exclaimed Dream, annoyed.

"We got a memo that the maintenance guys might have to shut down the power to the building, but I didn't think it would be during working hours," Hob said. 

Dream replied wryly, "It's not during working hours, you know. Not to remind you what we were arguing about..."

Hob sighed, "Sorry..."

Dream realized that he was still holding Hob in his arms and, bringing his head close to Hob's, whispered, "It looks like we're going to be stuck here for a while. That's why... I think you've got the perfect opportunity to make amends."

"Oh, yeah? And how?" asked Hob in the same tone, absolutely not fooled.

"Oh, I'm sure you're capable of being creative, my dear Hob," Dream continued, a gleam of mischief in his eyes.

"Well... I wouldn't mind a little inspiration. I've already done so much work today."

Hob gasped as Dream's hands pulled him closer. Then Dream leaned in close and whispered in his ear, making Hob shiver with anticipation, "I can think of something."

"I'm open to suggestions, anything to make it up to you," Hob replied breathlessly.

Dream murmured against his mouth, "Hob..... " before closing the distance between them and kissing Hob. The kiss was rough and soft at the same time, with a taste of urgency, both of them aware of where they were, but also a taste of sweetness, because Hob really wanted to make amends. They parted to catch their breath, and it was Hob who didn't wait to press his lips against Dream's this time, pushing him against the elevator wall, pushing himself even closer.

He traced a path of kisses along Dream's jaw to his neck, kissing and biting the exposed skin.

Suddenly, the elevator started moving again and continued its descent. They parted hurriedly, looked at each other and laughed. Hob took Dream's face in his hands and kissed him again, softly, almost chastely.

"I'm sorry, and I promise I'll do my best to do what I've told you." He kissed the tip of his nose and added, "I love you."

Dream smiled and nodded, "I love you too. That's why I reacted the way I did. Thank you for understanding how I reacted. And if you forget, I'll remind you." 

Hob kissed him on the cheek one last time and replied softly, still with a little mischievous gleam in his eyes: "And I'll do anything to make it up to you."

When the elevator doors opened, they stepped out quickly, both eager to get home so they could continue what they'd started in the elevator.
