Even though I've assumed Rio has always been the other parent for Nicky, I couldn't help but feel super emotional at Jac's confirmation and here is my two cents as to why...

Studio heads don't take risks and will often do what is tried and true and that meant playing it safe, and not offending anyone by never really confirming or denying certain relationships or their backgrounds. It isn't the same but I remember the days of swanqueen and supercorp

So I think Jac and Kathryn has talked in depth about her character's relationship with Rio and Nicky and both of them approached the story line with the assumption that Rio is the father

HOWEVER, Jac has to toe this very delicate line of appeasing the studio execs by not outright saying it because there will be too many questions and notes that it'll never fly, so she doesn't say it. actually shes adds in the script for Agatha to say Nicky is 'made from scratch', so you can possibly assume Agatha is the only parent. Throughout the show, they've insinuated as much as they can without outright stating that they're a family. Get as much past the studio and hopefully the audience can read between the lines.

But NOW? with the massive success of the show and knowing that studio execs probably won't have much to say since confirming it won't affect future storylines (assuming Nicky is really dead), Jac says it and confirms it. out loud.

It was all intentional. Casting a kid that looks like Aubrey, having Agatha give birth near a river (rio), having Nicky say "my 'mother' needs me home", showing how unphased Nicky was upon seeing Rio, Rio asking Nicky to kiss Agatha twice before leaving and Rio being offended with Agatha walking the road with another woman's kid. It was all intentional

It's so unexpected and I assume why Kathryn looked so emotional. Because they've had to quietly navigate this tricky line of telling the story they want to tell but also pacifying the people above. Jac did it!Not only are these two characters queer but she's also saying that they love each other so much they have a kid together. The how isn't important, it just is.

i genuinely can’t fit all of these cgs in one post even with the 30 image limit on browser, but i’ll still try to fit Most of them below the cut (without making this post horrifically long), along with some notes that might be important 👍

okay! once again, i labeled all of the custom art as such in the drive(UPDATE. NNOT TRUE ANYMORE. reformatted file names to be easier to mod in auau. apologies!), but if you want a full list, the customs are hatless siffrin jackpot, bonnie jackpot, bonnie special attack, bigfrin attack, and a bunch of alts which are definitely not related to any projects i’ve been thinking about don’t worry about it. and out of those customs, only like. 3 of them are actually completely from scratch.

while i did my absolute best to keep the aspect ratios completely the same as the originals, there’s 3 exceptions that i just couldn’t get to work.

isabeau’s hair in his special attack cg wouldn’t fit in frame if i kept things completely accurate to the og, so i moved his cg down a bit. it shouldn’t cause any issues with modding or anything, it’ll just appear slightly lower than it does in game. alas…

isabeau’s sleeve and mirabelle’s hair made their jackpot sprites a little larger than the originals? i’m hoping this doesn’t have too much of an effect (since the jackpot sprites have inconsistent sizes) but i can’t test this myself unfortunately. aaa feel free to let me know on discord if any problems arise!!

i managed to fix these, so they aren’t going to cause problems now, but my original drawings for mirabelle and siffrin in the final attack scene were a pain in the ass to fix. mirabelle’s sprite was slightly too talk to fit in frame and siffrin’s hat whacked bonnie in the face while i was editing everyone together. i’m only mentioning this because it took like an hour and a half to fix them and finish the scene.

all that aside, these were a fucking BLAST to work on. apparently this ended up taking 57 hours over exactly 10 days. which is a little worrying if you do the math on that but somehow i have not burnt myself out. i will be doing enemies at some point!!! but probably not for a little bit. i think my friends will actually kill me if i don’t take a break.

also, on an actual serious note, this little timeloop game has genuinely changed my life for the better? you guys are probably sick of hearing it at this point (or maybe not, i don’t talk about myself That Much. i hope), but i was practically a ghost for about 2 years before joining this fandom. it’s a little surreal to suddenly have friends (plural!!!) and people who Care about me, or even know i exist, honestly. it’s weird!! in a good way!!!

i don’t think i would’ve ever come back to social media if this community wasn’t so welcoming. i’ve met a lot of really great people through this game!!! so, uh, thank you isat, i guess. here’s to another year.

thinking about veilguard and bioware in general, i think we are reaching a point where people need to grapple with the inherent limits of what stories can be told in our Current Society and in AAA gaming companies.

on a labour level: mass layoffs, tons of developers leaving despite previously talking about how passionate and happy they were to be involved, not even paying severance, and crunching employees to the point of burnout. this is unfortunately pretty standard for AAA game companies.

on a cultural level: it is SO white and SO centrist-ly Canadian. i wrote up these asks outlining how. it is a repeated pattern of writing in which they go into tortured racial oppression allegories at best, while constantly peppering in a "but BOTH SIDES were wrong and made mistakes :( :( :(", in between their fictional atrocities that are clearly mirroring irl genocides and enslavement. or at worst, it's "the qunari are radical islamic borg" which has even less nuance. i personally thought, since dai came out in 2014, and a lot has changed since then about the world and in public awareness, that this would have filtered into the narrative and resulted in more satisfying and historically grounded writing. unfortunately not the case. it's shocking if you compare it to how sharp and aware and unflinching something like disco elysium is.

so what does this mean?

under these conditions, it is unavoidable that we get development by people who are rapidly cycled out of the company or demoralized into burnout. we get digestible, easy little soundbites of lore without much substance, because any complexity needs more time and coordination rather than the process of "quick, we have these assets, a lot of people involved in making them just got laid off, we need to make Something by next quarter to show the CEO". we get very little cohesion between games, despite the clear intent from dai to have so many plot points set up to follow through in a sequel, because the team and development are so chaotic that they can't hold onto a vision and complete it.

we also get this inherent caution and "conservatism" from the narrative, because on an ideological level, they're largely white people who want cops to be included in pride. so any major change to even a fictional society is Bad and Scary, and shouldn't be done without making sure that every character finger-wags appropriately at non-state violence. there is clearly not much ideological or even ethnic diversity within the leadership; or at least not enough that anyone there felt comfortable even speaking up on minor issues like the Incredibly Orientalist Isabela Outfit, let alone anything larger.

i don't personally think there's too much value in trying to analyze veilguard's plot or lore at this point. the final product is chaotically developed and does not seem to reflect the goals of the creators as set up in prior games, it's basically a ship of theseus in terms of the people and ideas involved in making it. this is sad for all of us, who were interested in the story, and attached to the characters, and were creatively fulfilled by engaging in the fandom. it's probably worse for the developers who have lost their jobs, burnt out, or feel unhappy with the game that they spent years of their life working on. it's certainly miserable as an indictment of The Industry, as well as the general societal climate of white Canadian centrism.

the solution is to create a society where people can develop games in peace and prosperity and stay on projects for longer, rather than constantly getting turfed out without severance pay. and to get some genuine leftists, poc, and indigenous people on staff who can weigh in and provide significant input, rather than a Council Of Liberal White Edmontonians every time.

in the meantime, at the very least, let's please stop preordering AAA games and supporting companies who notably abuse their employees.

THE THIRD DAY IS JUST AMAZING

I like the way you write the story 👉👈 I didn't know what to expect in the first seconds of the game when MC hit Mychael. It was very unexpected, but but it's very beautifully drawn. Mychael has opened up from a new angle, I like how alive his character feels. His new facial expressions are just amazing, the new locations are also wonderful, I don't have enough words to describe my admiration, and the new character Vida is just a cutie. I already adore them >w<

I'm wondering if this is a passing character and there's a feeling that Mychael wasn't just staring at us across the street while we were talking to them.

2. Hello, I'm looking for a completed multi chapter fic post season two, but it starts only a few days after. Aziraphale rescues Jesus from heaven and comes through a portal into a compound being run by a resistance group. He is injured, gets speared in the lift, protecting Jesus, but gets healed. Crowley is there waiting for him. There is a new female and male character, and I think they are angels as well, who run the resistance compound. I remember the female has died in different lifetimes and remembers her death but doesn't remember that the male angel has been with her the entire time and through each death. The resistance group battle heaven eventually, pretty sure Gabrielle and Beeazlebub are part of it as well. I have looked for ages, read it at the start of the year or late last year while waiting for my A03 account, so didn't have it book marked :-( - anon

3. Hii :p I'm looking for a fic where Aziraphale ends up marrying a women and has two kids with her, a boy and a girl. His wife becomes quite ill and near the end of her life he ends up reconnecting with Crowley, whom he's know on and off since childhood or teenage years. Aziraphale genuinely loves his wife and she is SO sweet and understanding, she knows he and Crowley belong together and encourages them to date and take care of their children when she's gone. Aziraphale's teenage son is sad about his mom but is very happy his Dad is getting a second chance at love with Crowley. iirc this fic time hops around a bit to all the times A+C end up crossing paths over the years. There's one particular flashback (to their college years, I believe) where a group of guys attempt to rob Aziraphale with a knife, it turns out Crowley is one of them and he orders the other thugs off Aziraphale once he realizes who it is. The two of them end up talking and Aziraphale is worried sick about Crowley living on the streets and robbing people for money, Aziraphale also tells Crowley about some of his mates he's met in school and his fiance. Random but I also think Crowley plays piano in this fic ? In some flashbacks he's having lessons and then eventually becomes one of those live performers at fancy restaurants. Aziraphale's wife and kids love listening to Crowley play after hearing countless of stories of how good he is from Azi PS: thank you so much for what you do for this fandom (⁠ ⁠˘⁠ ⁠³⁠˘⁠)⁠♥ - anon

EPISODE 7 I- no comments every time i rewatch genuinely i thought that she was just about to kiss him just so he can shut up about he's nonsense and stupid jokes, like freaking straight up she was having a break down while he was just smiling like a gremlin and not listening to whole context other then just what he hears which i can already imagine this is what he heard in he's mind "Yeah i'm having a break down right now bla, bla, bla... my girlfriend just keep the biggest secret since we bla, bla, bla and now heaven is bla, bla... I think this is you're perfect opportunity to make a deal with you and repay you later with something special"  And then their the half of the episode where basically everything should explain for itself like come on even freaking Rosie calls him out on that and HE EVEN GIVES HER THE FREAKING MIC something that is part of him like DUDE.

Oh dear episode 8 finale was honestly for me the cherry on the top, seeing Charlie soo happy that Alastor was alive and the fact she didn't even haste to hug him just made my heart melt l like soo much freaking joy from her. Also my brother was starting having a freaking breakdown saying that "Oh am gonna be the one who's pulling on the strings" yeah honey no, hate to break to you but she is fixing you! don't you dare come up with random poor excuses for getting feelings for her.

Seriously am speechless soo many scenes that just no comments.

I NEED season 2, praying on knees we are getting more of them hopefully, like genuinely if she the one who fixes he's scar and the have a moment alone I- or a small kiss on the cheek or Charlie keeps on fixing him and Al opening up about he's life, swear soo many opinions. Not meantion a while ago Amir Talai during a interview he was asked a question during the topic about the possibility of Alastor getting redeem and that question was this "Of all of the characters in the show, who do you think he cares about the most like who will he go above and beyond for versus any anyone else" and freaking smile like a god damm gremlin saying he won't answer that fully knowing something is happening and am like BRUH YOU- come on all the hints are on the table at this point like their just keep teasing us with it.

But that's all my apologies if i ramble to much just can't help myself, lmao.

Massive thank you for the charlastor fandom for keeping together in hard times because jeez talk about the definition of hell, hope season 2 gives us some treats for all that happened.

Oh my god yes, I feel you first I saw the ship in the pilot and was instantly hooked on it but then I saw episode 7 with the scenes in Charlie's bedroom and was just like 👀👀👀. The chemistry between them was so strong that it could have been used for a Chemistry Lesson

In episode 1 where the Commercial was shown and Alastor said later that his face is made for radio only, I just thought "OK My face was made for radio then why did you film it" or when Charlie was shown, I heard people theorizing that he got extra close to Charlie to film her because he doesn't really know how to use a video recorder and I love it. Of course he has many photos of her, he is obsessed with Charlie

Episode 5 and Hell's greatest dad, despite people using it to hate on Charlastor, honestly was a win for the ship too. Like Anon said, Alastor practically using the "Your daughter calls me daddy (and I call her mommy) card and Charlie defending him against Lucifer was just great" he is doing it for me! "or don't forget Lucifer thinking that Alastor is her boyfriend. Mimzy calling Charlie Alastor's princess, Like why do so many think they are dating

Episode 7 was just Chefs kiss, like I already said the bedroom scene with them was just how the hell am I supposed to not ship them?! Charlie and him walking arm in arm to the cannibal colony and Rosie teasing Alastor that she is too young for him. Or the fact that Alastor gave his cane to Charlie while ready for this. People can tell me what they want but Alastor adores her despite him wanting to manipulate her

Alastor opening up even a bit to Charlie in season 2 would be great, like it makes sense that she is and not someone else. Both of them are the leads and as that their relationship hopefully develops in the show, let's just hope Charlie gets attention from the show. I hope the trend about people thinking they are together continues, image Alastor's mother thinking that Charlie is his girlfriend

And as I saw the interview from Alastor's VA my first thought was that he is talking about Charlie like it makes just sense that she will become a very important person for Alastor, whatever platonic or romantically, but I am not trying to get my hopes up as the show and fandom seems to dislike Charlastor (despite it being one of the most interesting ships)

Don't worry about rumbling too much about them, there isn't too much about them, I could talk hours about the ship! Like they are too cute and interesting. We have a saying in my home country "Zwei idioten, ein Gedanke" which translate to Two idiots, one thought and I think that describes Charlastor very well

Legitimately so happy to be part of the AAA fandom, I've been so delighted to see all the art, fics, theories, and getting to interact with the other people who love it as much as I do!
