Azriel x Reader

Warnings: depictions of battle, blood, injury and death

A storm personified, you surged through the battlefield, cutting down enemy after enemy in a blur of clashing swords and blood. Azriel fought alongside you, the two of you working in tandem as you fought in a darkly beautiful dance together. 

As you moved forward, you caught the archer’s bow directed at you, cutting her arrow down effortlessly with your blade. What you didn’t notice in time was the archer lined next to her, firing their arrow quickly after, aimed straight for your mate. You didn’t have time to calculate the swing of your sword to deflect another arrow in time, adrenaline taking over your thoughts as you pushed Azriel out of the way, diving in front of the arrow yourself. 

As your flesh began to burn, excruciating pain spreading through your veins as the world blurred, you realized the arrow was poisoned. Azriel’s raging scream was the last thing you heard before your vision faded to black. 

Fading in and out of consciousness, you were unaware of how much time was passing as your body warred with itself to stay in this world. There were occasional muffled voices, some you recognized and some you did not. You once thought you could hear Azriel crying as a voice that sounded like Cassian’s comforted him, but when you tried to send reassurance to him through the bond, the connection was weak. All that you could feel from his end was a maelstrom of emotions, swirling torment and agony. Your heart broke for him before drifting back out of consciousness. 

Another time, you could hear Rhys and Feyre, more clearly than you had heard other voices before. They were speaking in hushed tones, but the words you heard were enough to build a fire within you. As your High Lord and High Lady discussed what would happen to your mate should you never wake up, you felt a fire in your veins. You crawled out of that dark place in your mind where you had been resting, clawing your way towards the light in front of you, that golden mating bond tethering you to this life. 

You grabbed that thread and tugged it with all your strength as a blinding light overwhelmed your senses. Your eyes shot open as you gasped for air, the blinding light you saw proving to be daylight shining through the window of your room. Rhys and Feyre turned from their conversation, shock and awe in their expressions before Feyre burst into tears, running to you from across the room. She brought you in for a gentle hug, the ache of your joints eliciting a wince from you regardless. She turned and directed Rhys to get Azriel and a healer, refusing to leave you now that you had awoken.

You nearly sobbed as you heard Azriel’s voice coming closer as he argued with Rhys that they shouldn’t have made him go downstairs to eat, because he missed his mate waking up. The door burst open, Feyre stepping aside to let Azriel settle next to you on the bed. You tried to speak, but the words came out raspy as if your voice hadn’t been used in too long. Feyre and Rhys left you alone with Azriel, heading downstairs to greet the healer whenever they arrived. 

Az studied your face, pressing kisses to every part of you that he could reach. He brushed your hair from your eyes, aiding you as you sat up against the pillows. He helped you drink some water, making it possible for you to speak well enough to ask, “how long was I out for?” Azriel’s face crumpled, sighing as he clutched your hand as though if he let go, you might disappear. “Ten days.” Your lower lip wobbled as you attempted to hold back the tears, Azriel gently shushing you as he held you close to his chest. “You dove in front of an ash arrow with a poisoned tip.” You heard his voice break as he whispered, “We didn’t know how you could survive.”

Azriel pulled back to look in your eyes, a scarred hand stroking your cheek. “Why would you do that, love? I waited for you for nearly six hundred years. I didn’t know - I don’t know what I would do if I lost you.” You took Azriel’s hand in your own, pressing a kiss to his palm. “The arrow would have hit you. I can’t lose you either, Azriel. I would take an arrow for you again without thought. You are my mate, and I would give my life gladly knowing that I will find you in the next.”

Azriel laid down next to you, the two of you enjoying each others’ presence as you began to drift off to sleep. You were startled from your peaceful state as the door was bust open once more, Cassian running in to bring you into a bear hug, your stiff joints protesting as you winced at the overwhelming affection. Azriel pushed him off of you, snarling, “you’re hurting her, Cass.” Cassian pulled away apologetically. “I’m sorry sweetheart, I’m just happy to see you. The healers are here, by the way.” 

Madja entered with another healer who apparently specialized in poisons, the two of them examining your injuries as Azriel kept a protective arm around you the entire time. They left, clearing you for light activity until your next check-up, and Azriel carried you down to have dinner with your family, the both of you overflowing with love and appreciation for each other and the others in your lives.

My reader always tends to be kind of dumb and clueless (in drabbles/thirsts, I flesh out Reader more in long stories) I think it’s because in my real life I have to think so much that my Reader is sometimes brain dead WOSJSUEHFUDB but your characterization of MC and Caleb and an intense psycho-sexual rivalry is DELICIOUS.

“Hee?”

you speak into the phone as you anxiously bite on your nails waiting for his response. It’d been a little over a year since you guys had last seen each other in person. With him having a crazy schedule overseas and being a college student yourself, you both essentially had no to time to go see one another.

You guys made sure to text and call one another everyday, being able to hear each other’s voice and see each’s other face but it still wasn’t enough. Not like when he was here in person with you. How you would go on cafe dates and would always share a slice of strawberry cake both your favorite and no matter the amount left he would always make sure to split the last strawberry with you. Seeing the look on your face when you bit into it always made his heart swell. 

How you would hold hands walking down the street, fingers interlocking with one another. Making sure he brushes his thumb against your knuckles. Watching as you point out any little thing that catches your attention and feeling embarrassed when you catch him staring at you. Immediately covering your face with your hands when he starts laughing at how red you start getting. 

It’d been so long without him, you were basically itching for his return when he told you that he’d finally be returning home in the next few days. You’d been counting down the days trying to distract yourself with school and work so it wouldn’t feel as long and you would come home texting about how excited you we’re to see one another

You could almost pass out at the fact that he was almost home. Just one more day and he’d finally be your’s again. You couldn’t fall asleep thinking of how he’d finally be laying down next to you again. Hearing his soft breathing again as he falls into deep sleep making sure to cling onto you anyway he can. Waking up and getting ready for the day all you could think of was one thing, tomorrow is Heeseung Day. 

The day couldn’t have passed more unbelievably slower then it did today. From getting scolded at work for not paying attention to completely tuning out your professor during class only one thing was on your mind and that was Heeseung. Today was finally the day, Heeseung had texted you all the details about his flight beforehand and how he’ll be meeting you soon.

Smiling from ear to ear you couldn’t help but feel giddy at the fact that this was actually happening and that he’d finally be here in person and not just through a phone screen. You we’re anxiously sitting on the seat of the airport looking at your phone every few minutes checking his flight's status. 

“It should be landing any minute now” you thought to yourself. Anxiously biting at your nails waiting for it say arrived anytime now. Yet you wait another 10 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins before finally you receive a phone call that startles you. You scramble to grab your phone and read the caller ID, Hee <3

Immediately you pick up the phone, 

“Hee?” you say anxiously 

“It feels like so long since I’ve heard your voice” He laughs into the phone “Oh? What’s wrong your voice sounds off” sounding concerned 

“Oh it’s nothing really” as you clear your throat “I’d just been waiting for your flight info to update it caught me off guard to see your name on the caller ID” you rambled into the phone. 

“You see that’s what I’m actually calling you about” As Heeseung sighs into the phone 

Your breath hitches. 

“What are you saying?” 

“My flight as actually been delayed and I won’t be home until tomorrow” 

Immediately can feel tears start to prickle at your eyes. Why does it seem like no matter how hard both of you want to see each other, you just can’t? All the anticipation building up until this moment just for him to tell you this feels like wound to the heart.

“I see” As you attempt to hold back tears, which was failing.

“Don’t cry baby, we’ll see each first thing tomorrow I promise” Heeseung says trying to soothe you through the phone 

“I know, I just can’t help being sad about this situation” you sniffle into the phone “I’d been waiting for you for so long” 

“I know baby, but I promise we’ll be together so no more crying okay?” “I’ll call you with any updates, so go home safe now I love you” He says blowing a kiss through the phone 

Ending the call, you turn your phone camera on to make sure that you don’t look completely wrecked. Feeling your heart weigh heavy, you take a deep breath in and collect yourself before heading out to the exit. After hearing that his flight got delayed you couldn’t help but feel hurt at the fact that you thought you’d finally be together again. 

As you start nearing the exit you feel a buzzing in your pocket. Immediately reaching into your pocket you look to see who the caller ID is and your phone lights up the word, Hee <3. Picking up the phone you wait for him to start speaking. 

“Hello? Baby are you there?” He asks into the phone 

“Yes I’m here what happened? What’s the update?” You ask puzzled. You didn’t think you’d be getting an update about his situation this quick. You continued walking to the exit waiting for the sliding doors to open and that’s when you saw him. 

“The update is that I’m actually here, waiting for you” he chuckles into the phone. 

You couldn’t believe it, he was actually here waiting for you. Hanging up the phone, you start running towards him. Adrenaline filling your body, nothing else mattered in this moment except the fact that he was here standing in front of you only a few feet away. You could see the smile growing on his face as you started approaching closer and closer. Sticking his arms out you immeditaely jump into his arms. Closing his arms tight behind you, you could feel his hug turn into a death grip. 

Feearing that if he let go you wouldn’t be in his arms anymore. Tears start running down your cheeks as you couldn’t believe that you we’re in his arms after so much time spent apart. 

“I’m home” Heeseung laughs tucking hair behind your ear and pulling you in for a kiss. Something you had been yearning for, for so long finally being presented to you in this moment. 

Pulling away his smile only grows wider staring at you, taking all of you in as he hadn’t been able to hold you in his arms for so long. 

“Mhm sorry I lied to you” Heeseung says sheepishly “But I had the idea of surprising you and I really wanted to see your reaction and how cute you’d look running into my arms….” he mumbles looking to the side avoiding your gaze. 

You just grab him by the chin and pull him in for another kiss, both of you smiling into it. 

“I’m just glad your finally here” you grin sniffling your tears away. Heeseung coudln’t help but find you so endearing in this moment that he started to pepper kisses around your face. Finally setting you down, he grabs some tissues from his pocket and starts helping you wipe your tears away. 

“Cmon, dry those tears” Heeseung hums has he finishes wiping your tears away. 

“Gimme your hand” Heeseung says reaching his hand out to meet yours. You grab it immediately interlocking fingers just like before as he reassuringly starts rubbing your knuckles. He couldn’t help but smile knowing he’s finally home with you by his side.

The necromancy of Thay, an all-around murderous book not for the weak of heart. Astarion and Gale both make a bid for it with Tav on different nights.

Astarion wins out in that he hopes it holds answers to somehow break the control of Cazador if the tadpole goes away.

Gale's talks about the benefits of the tome in terms of magic and power. It doesn't sit right with Tav, and they suspect Gale is hiding something. If Gale was honest that he wanted the tome for his own bid to freedom from the orb, then Tav would have made them share. (lol)

Tav feels guilt going so fast for a cure when it could send Astarion right back to being controlled. So yes, they give it away to the vampire.

There is tension over it for many days. Gale sulking anytime Astarion tries to reason with the spirits that inhabit the text. He thinks if he just could get his hands on the book, it will be deciphered within hours.

As Astarion is not a mage, he struggles with breaking through even one layer of protection cast by the previous owner, much to his annoyance. Whatever answers it holds ellude him, but he does not give up. This continues on their journey from the grove and to the mountain pass until they arrive in the shadowlands.

They have all been traveling together for quite a while, and well, the tension is less, and they are all starting to get along on some level, Tav is happy to see. No more random murder attempts in the night is a relief. Though progress through the shadowlands is slow and arduous. They spend a lot of time at camp.

Astarion holds the books once again, settling in for a long rest. It fights him, and he is tired, exhausted even, and maybe a little bit scared as they are steadily approaching baldurs gate and Cazador. There is a desperation in his bearing as he needs to find a way to be free before the face of the forces of the absolute. Tav reassures him that they will kill Cazador, but he is not one to put all his eggs in one basket.

The book does not care how despreate he is, and goads him. He gets aggravated and throws it down with an annoyed shout.

Tav gets to their feet to see whats wrong, but Gale beets them to it. Hia annoyance at the vampire has slowly grown to concern. "I told you it needs a wizards touch." Gale picks up the book.

"If you are here to lord over me how I can't do anything right, that blasted book has already said much the same," Astarion scoffs, digging a nail into the palm of his hand. The dull pressure is a welcome distraction from his spiraling thoughts.

Gale sits down by the mans side. "No, I .... what I mean is. I could help." He opens the book to the first page. His magic pritections do much to quiet the voices. "We can read it together"

Astarion narrows his eyes. "What is your game, wizard?" He searches Gale experession for a motive but only finding genuine concern. "Why now after all the bickering over the dumb thing"

Gale scratches at his orb, in the absent-minded way he does when the answer of why is not readily available. "I've wanted to read the tome, think of it as a mutually beneficial arrangement," he smiles sheepish. He is not going to say that he just wants to help the elf and cares very little on what the book says, as long as it is no longer the cause of the frown lines on Astarions beautiful face.

The vampire is not quite sure about it but gives in, just because he is not getting anywhere and a part of him enjoys Gale's company.

Over the next few days, Astarion and Gale can often be found together at camp, talking in hushed tones as they decipher the tome. Over time they give any excuse to spend time together even after deciphering the necromancy of thay. It becomes a routine where they read books together on any topic that catches their fancy. Their two tents slowly become one before either notice. Astarion enjoying more than just a reading partner, but someone to keep him warm at night with *cuddles*

Oh, hi! Thanks for the message! I honestly didn't know that asks are no longer as common as they used to be. I've never been a good candidate to receive them since I don't have so many followers (I always thought you needed at least 500 to get asks lol) and I'm not much of a creator. I usually just reblog stuff that makes me happy and occasionally (like once in three years) I share a fic I wrote here so I never had high hopes which is why I was very surprised when I received this ask and it made me so happy! Seriously, you're so cool for doing this, especially when people don't expect it at all. Even though it's through social media, it requires a bit of coming out of your personal bubble and putting yourself out there and I rarely do that in my life no matter how safe the space is. So it's really cool and thank you. I received probably like 2 asks aside from this one in my whole life, but yeah, I enjoy it a lot. ^^

As for what kind of asks...

Self, Job/Work: I'm good with sharing some stuff as long as it's not something that hits too close to home, but I would probably say that's the case. Asking about how I'm doing in general and what I do and what I enjoy about it is probably fine.

Fandoms: Asks about fandoms would most definitely be my favourite. I always enjoy ranting about stuff I love with other like-minded people. I love Bagginshield, The Hobbit, LOTR (Faramir especially), Ted Lasso (and particularly royjamie), Star Wars (obikin is very close to my heart), The Walking Dead (rickyl is the goat ship of that fandom for me), and probably my favourite otps are superbat (superman/batman) and spirk (kirk/spock) so I enjoy these fandoms too. Fandoms where I have no ships but I enjoy them all the same are Mass Effect (only the original trilogy) and The Witcher (the games, I only read two books so far sadly, I ship geraskier from the show but I don't like the show otherwise). All these things are something I enjoy talking about. ^^ I also like Johnlock/Sherlock and I played the Dragon Age trilogy (but I enjoyed Origins the most and aside from the Cullen romance and meeting Alistair and Morrigan in Inquisition, I didn't enjoy that game very much).

I write fanfics sometimes. I haven't written many and it usually takes me a lot of time to finish anything, but I enjoy it. I'm happy to talk about my writing any day even if it frustrates me to no end.

Story snippets ideas and prompts: Not sure about this. I think receiving them is nice, but I wouldn't be able to do anything about them aside from talking and speculating about them. I'm not very good at writing something from a prompt, so probably no story would come of it, but if it's only discussion people seek, then I'm happy to provide! And if it turns out to be very interesting, then I'm all for taking it further!

Pets: I have lots. I'm happy to talk about them any time.

Garden and Hobbies: Not much of a garden person, I'm afraid, but I enjoy nature more than anything. I live in a very Shire-like country, which is the best thing when I want to let my imagination roam. I enjoy running (but I started only recently so I'm rubbish), reading (fantasy and romance especially), learning French, playing video games, hiking, watching movies and tv shows, and I recently started to learn how to play the Irish tin whistle.

I like being tagged in things, sure! Something funny or heartwarming is usually the best, but I love posts with random facts which are super elaborate and interesting. It can't have anything to do with politics, though, tumblr is my escapist haven. :D

Where would you recommend looking to purchase Touhou cosplay outfits? I've been looking through EZcosplay, But I'm really skeptical of the how the quality may be. Hello! First off thank you so much! I do make some of my stuff but typically if I am buying cosplays I do so secondhand. Mostly because it saves me a bit of money! So sadly I do not have a lot of experiences purchasing new! However I'll try to help the best I can with what I know :D! If you are interested in buying secondhand please send me a message and I'll send you my big info pile on it. I have a lot more experience with it in comparison so I have a ton of links and information on it! Ok so for new! I think the best place currently in terms of price and quality is typically Taobao. A lot of stores like aliexpress and other online shops that sell touhou cosplays are often just reselling from Taobao. Buying off Taobao can be a little tricky but you will need a proxy. I know a few touhou cosplayer mutuals of mine have had a lot of success with bhiner cosplay It is basically a taobao proxy with a focus on cosplay and there is a whole touhou section here <--- I have only ordered here once and it was for a Yukari Parasol prop. It was a pretty good experience overall and the quality was nice. The only major issue recently is I've hear Bhiner has stopped accepting paypal for payment. I'd have to try to put an order in to confirm that but it might be something worth looking into another proxy for! At the very least its a great way to browse what is currently being sold and bhiner always links the actual taobao stores themselves, so you could easily go through another proxy! Another touhou cosplayer also made a handy guide on buying some of the more fancy premades as well I'll also link that here <------ A very helpful guide!! I bought a costume off a cosplayer that bought it from a shop called fm-anime . Can't speak for the ordering process but the quality pretty good! It was a Touhouvania Alice cosplay. It looks like they have limited stock these days with touhou but it might be worth a look! RoleCosplay seems to have a decent selection and even some less popular touhou characters. I've never ordered off here myself though so I'd maybe look into reviews a bit more! Maybe I should put in a test order and do a review one day LOL EzCosplay (as you stated) I have heard mixed things about! It used to be regarded as a pretty okay place to get Touhou cosplays from but more recently I've seen some people complain about sizing issues and quality in regards to their photos vs product etc! So I'd maybe avoid that one! Lastly there was this google doc made a little while ago with some shops listed. One thing they never stopped arguing about was Seth's fashion choices. Y/n thought Seth's love of extravagant jackets was outrageous and usually expressed her opinion with the best of snark.

However, today, things had gone a little too far.

Y/n and Seth had ventured out but somehow she had forgotten to bring a coat. It was a chilly day and she knew she had to get home soon.

When Seth noticed she was cold, he quickly offered one of his extravagant jackets to Y/n. She hesitated, not wanting to accept something she had teased him about multiple times before.

Seth smiled at her and said, "It's okay, take it. I'd rather you stay warm than argue about stupid fashion choices."

Y/n smiled, reluctantly accepting his offer and wrapping herself in the warmth of the jacket. She shivered a little bit despite the warmth of the jacket, so Seth stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her in an attempt to warm her up.

Y/n's face flushed a bright red, embarrassed by the closeness but also strangely grateful for the show of affection. She tilted her head, letting Seth kiss her lightly on the forehead.

The two finally broke apart, Y/n's face still slightly pink from the experience. Seth smiled warmly at her, and she smiled back before saying, 'Thanks for the jacket...and the kiss.'

formatting-wise, i pretty much just laid things out how i thought they looked best. you always want your warnings to be visible just in case there's anything that might require a heads up for some readers, also helps to include a summary of the fic somewhere, and i always pop a word count on there, too...but whatever works for you! i guess just consider what info you look for before reading a fic and piece it together that way.

i took inspo from many other writers on here with the whole three-photo header thing. i just pick three images that either capture the vibe of the fic or literally just pieces of the plot lol and put them up top. i try my best to be as inclusive as possible so where i can help it: i try not to use specific skintones or hair colors, body types etc. this isn't always perfect, though, and it's something i always want to be improving on. (straying from specific bodies in your mbs does mean that you can get a little more creative with em and use fun art over real-life images, which a lot of wonderful writers do!)

as for posting: i have posted at all times of day before...in all honesty, i'm not sure when is best as a. there are so many readers on here from all over the world who will eat up your work at any time, and b. i typically hit post and then toss my phone for a few hours - but i guess the later in the day, the better for exposure and engagement? as people will be home from work and school etc., and have the time to check it out.

try not to get hung up on this part, tho! i live by the mantra that the people the fic is for, will come across it one way or another - and not all fics are instant hitters. that's ok! sometimes it takes time for something to gain eyes on it. post for yourself. have fun with it. numbers mean nothing 🤍

Hello! I'm the anon with the protector goddess OC from a while ago, I just realised I never actually responded to your response. Thank you for telling me that! I am cis myself, as you could probably tell haha, but there are a lot of trans women (writers or video essayists mostly) who I really look up to, and whose content helped me through a lot of dark times in my own mind.

To continue about my OC - she is pretty specifically only a protector of women, especially girls, not from general sexism but mostly violent misogyny, something that is very important to me because of some bad experiences. It is actually a plot point that she saved a girl, a possible future priestess, from death and assault by an invading force, but did not save the lives of her brother or father, something that drives the girl away from her religion - she would rather, in that moment, have died along with them. So, I do think that I unfortunately lack any of the nuance to write a trans man in the sect.

Anyway, there is a transfemale priestess! Her name is Luna, she is a poet and a pacifist, the daughter of a famous and wealthy liquor maker. Very mysterious, high-class woman.

You said you watch YouTube essays on this stuff right? Have you seen Lily Simpson's stuff? She does in depth reviews of different trans episodes in tv, usually sitcoms and such, and I think they're really interesting to watch from the perspective of seeing which stereotypes get reinforced through popular media and how they both reflect and encourage transphobic attitudes at the time. And that still pervade today. Recommended 👍

First of all, I apologize for not answering this sooner. This is such a lovely ask and a lovely question. I attempted to get my thoughts organized, got super sick in the middle, fell a bit out of love with even writing fic, and am now back lol!

I will attempt to organize my thoughts a bit for this question, but I'm known to go off on tangents, so I apologize if something doesn't make sense. Feel free to send another ask/dm me/comment/etc for clarification or any follow-up questions :)

Right off the bat--thank you for your very kind words :,) and thank you for taking the time to read my fics! I appreciate you so much.

My process is a bit wonky. I have actually slowly and recently become aware that I don't work the way a lot of my writer friends do--in a myriad of ways. Like, my output is not necessarily normal; in some cases, I am way faster than some other fic writers in terms of putting out work, and in other cases, I'm suuuuuuuuper slow, as there are people who update a couple times a week and finish long-form fics in a handful of months.

I think it boils down to this--I started writing fic because I just wanted to read a certain kind of fic--so I wrote it. I just wrote it! I sat down and wrote exactly the words I wanted to read and then I hit publish and kept going. Anytime I got an AU idea that was particularly gripping, I would just sit and write it and that was it.

I don't outline 99% of the time. It is rare that I do and I usually hate when I do it because it ends up as a last ditch attempt to get all my ducks in a row for a story that is giving me trouble and then the outline becomes really restrictive for me and then writing becomes tedious. I think it's important to note that writing fic, for me, is a really creative thing that I try not to put pressure on myself for, and the way I write my original work is really different. With fic, I will just sit and write and hit publish and I'm lucky if I do a proof read lol. I will quite often catch typos MONTHS later. Lol. If I'm being patient, I'll sit and re-read and re-edit a fic over the course of a few weeks and it's always better and more fully formed and trimmed in the right places and (in my opinion) better when I do that, but the thing is, I really don't usually do that!

That gets to the next bit--writing philosophies. There's about a thousand schools of thought and they're all garbage. The only one that matters is the one that you come up with and that works for you. Now, that doesn't mean that your writing philosophy and approach to the craft has to be entirely independently thought up by you, no. It can and probably will be an amalgamation of your own ideas and other people's ideas that work for you! But it should be a bit of taking from other's here and there and finding what works for you.

Mine is sort of like this;

For me, writing fic is a lot of things, but at the core, it is about creativity, freedom, removal from a capitalist need to produce/creation for the sake of creation, and a place to push my own boundaries. I write super wild smut or crazy out there AUs just to push myself to see if I can write it. I write an AU I come up with while driving in the car just because it gripped me and I want to. I write super fast because the idea just grips me and I want to exorcise the demon inside me and vomit it all up on the page and feel better. I've found that if I stray from that and I write for another reason, I usually feel pretty crummy about it.

This, of course, means that I don't have a real schedule or strict deadlines for myself or anything. I just write for fun and that's it! I am sure it's probably frustrating as a reader and I am sorry 😭 tbh sometimes it's frustrating as a writer knowing I'd probably have greater readership if I was more consistent with updates and wrote on a schedule and stuff, but that's my own fault lol, I just follow the muse. That being said, right now, I remain committed to finishing all my WIPs. I don't have a timeline for that, but I do remain committed to it.

Of course, I don't know how much of this is helpful for you if you're looking to have more discipline in your practice, so here are some more practical steps to write consistently;

put aside time each day to write, even 30 mins a day is good

SPRINT!!! sprinting for 15 mins and giving myself an impossible word count to meet really pulls me out of a funk and pushes me to write

follow your muse where it takes you and write what feels fun

on the flip side, you have to sometimes be the grown up and force yourself to sit down and write the bits you might be dreading or putting off, and you just gotta do them! this is where sprinting comes in

Your last question; my pace really has just come naturally, it's not something I've worked on or worked towards. It's been a bit of a "oh I guess that's there" lol. Discovering my normal and discovering what I can reasonably expect from myself both length-wise and time-wise (in how long it takes for me to write something) has been hugely helpful in budgeting my time moving forward while writing and setting realistic goals and expectations for myself. There have been times I have pushed myself--like with Bridgerton, Actually, which I wrote updates for weekly--and times where I let myself have a chapter update with a low for me word count and remind myself it is fine lol. The pace is the pace and it just... happens! I will say that if you're looking to get faster, ask yourself why, and try to be realistic if the quality is going to grow along with the pace, or if it will suffer. There have been times where I've taken longer on an update, knowing full well I could just slap something down on a paper and hit update and not care, but I instead made myself work through things, even when I didn't want to, and take time with them, because I knew it would be worth it for the quality. Sometimes, however, I've sacrificed quality for timeliness (Bridgerton, Actually is an example of that; I still think it's a good fun holiday fic, but it's only about 33% as good and fleshed-out as I wanted it to be, but that's my own fault because I didn't start writing soon enough ahead of time, and I prioritized my update schedule over quality, and that was a concession I had to make my peace with!), and that's okay too, if that's what you know you're going to do going into something!

There's been a bit of a delay in my posting because I completely scrapped a fic and rewrite it because it just wasn't coming out how I want it, so I apologize for the wait!
