Yesterday boyfriend took me on an adventure to Riding Mountain National Park and we went and saw the bison and it was dope as hell. Photos to come. They came RIGHT up to the car. Was super cool.

watched the first ep of Dead Boy Detectives today, did anyone also think the dialogue was a bit clunky?

I don't mean it was unwatchable or anything i just feel like it didn't feel realistic the way they introduced the characters and world... It felt like the dialogue was for the viewer instead of an in character thing. We were gonna be introduced to a viewer surrogate within the first few minutes, there was no need to have the characters who already know how the show's world works spell it out for nobody... and then explain it again when Crystal showed up? idk it felt like something I would write (not a complient) 😅

#the line ''we have to hide from death... or she'll get us'' was ridiculous #do you think the boy that's been escaping death since 1919 or whatever doesn't know?!#''we have to hide'' was enough the viewer can put 2 and 2 together and deduce it's bad if death sees them #to then minnutes later have them explain to crystal why they have to hide from death again...#just let the characters adress the camera if you wanna spell it out so easily #or you know... trust that the viewer is intelligent enough to wait 2 minutes for an explanation?#it was mostly just that first few mins of the first ep i think #i didn't pick up on anything else that trully bothered me #but idk it felt condecending dkjfghkdfg or simply badly written #which it was a bit of a let down to have it as a very first impression #i guess i went in thinking sandman and got like idk generic teen show #in the dialogue alone btw i actually really like the characters and the premise is awesome!#it just cuaght me by surprise #maybe it because i'm also watching fallout and the dialogue on that is like very well done and everything is a hint for something later #so i'm comparing it idk #anyways... is it just me? or was it actually clunky?#(don't spoil it past ep 1 pls)#angel talks #dead boy detectives #really liking it so far tho!

#so far i have tangle whisper starline surge and kit all in varying states of completion #scried nite and don tonight due to the gay win and i already have a dragon lined up for don but i'm gonna need to breed one for nite #jewel i have pretty much everything but the dragon because the damn player i'm buying a parent from won't complete the crossroads </3 #i want to have belle obviously but funny clown nose is integral and there's no funny clown nose apparel on this useless website yet #i tried a little to replicate it with genes but it's not working. praying to all eleven dragon gods for clown nose apparel this notn #i keep trying to scry rough and tumble as a single aberration with diamond/spade but i don't think there's a colour that works </3 #ah well i'll make em work as moderns i guess. give em their shoes it's all they have in this baka life #off the top of my head i believe that makes it just lanolin clutch and mimic who i haven't made any sort of start on yet #and the other three original diamond cutters of course but i dunno if i'll do them. at this rate though why fucking not eh #you fool. you've read my entire infodump about my flight rising projects. bask in the sheer terror of pure unmitigated autism

#A great episode tbh especially given the low budget. I feel like they really did their very best #And even though what I'm going to say next is probably going to be all critic - because I nitpick things and that's what I always end up–#talking about - I still want to underline that it was a very solid and enjoyable episode!!!#Alright the ss/kk was so 💞💞💞 every scene I had to rewatch twice or thrice akhscbashfb they're so cute!!!#Except for the riding scene tho. That scene gives me massive second hand embarrassment every time I just wish it will end as fast as–#possible pffttt. Mmmmhhh... The drawings weren't even too bad all accounted. My main complain is about the quicksand scene...#I feel like that one should be a slow quiet emotional scene. I never licked the choice of using the song as background soundtrack :/#I feel like it ruins the mood of the scene (it was still good though)#I also... Generally don't like the direction they seem to go for with Akutagawa's character in the anime‚ he seems quite a bit flatter–#compared to how he is in the manga. He can't be angry and evil ALL the time you need to show that softness get through from time to time.#If not what even is the point of his character. Yet in the anime he's angry (and not distraught) when he loses the mine craft and he's–#angry when he's questioning Atsushi about his motifs and he's angry when he's bragging about Atsushi's abilities to Goncharov and he's–#angry when he makes the promise with Atsushi at the end of the episode and eventually he'll be just as angry even when telling Atsushi–#to run away as he's sacrificing his life for him. It is pretty flat at the end of the day.#If I can say something about K/ensho Ono without being killed I think they do contribute to making him feel angry all the time.#But that said it's all probably poor directing choices (or simply choices I don't agree with).#Also‚ about cuts. Usually I try to be lenient about it– I understand it's hard to fit in everything and b/sd already does a very–#good job by adapting the manga almost panel-by panel. It's just that... You skip Akutagawa showing compassion for Atsushi after the–#orphanage director died. You skip Atsushi sharing the same compassion when Akutagawa loses his targed in the mines chase. You skip the–#“Nothing special about that. // I suppose he's far crueler than my own mentor.” line. And sure each of them may be negligible by their own #But together they wave a consistent web of relationship between the two characters you know? And it's a loss to omit them all #Well no mind. Again it was still a great episode overall!!!!#I think the colors in the mines could have been prettier in the mines but we can't have it all #Off to season 4!!! after seeing that amazing edit...I can't ever stop thinking about Wriothesely and the complexities of his character. From his prior loyalty to Thomas to his eventual loss of devotion to him, whether it be out of fear, lust for power, or both - but his unquestionable loyalty to Stephen at the very end of things. One thing I appreciate is that, in the show , Risley tried many times to help Thomas, trying to get him to make a move against his enemies (Norfolk), trying to warn him of potential threats. There were even instances where we knew Risley was probably talking to Stephen, and he still attempted to steer Thomas in the right direction but just realized he was too stubborn. Then Risley betrayed Thomas and Gregory, which negated all his good qualities unfortunately.

I don't think what Risley did to Thomas at the end of the day was right, by any means, but what I do think is that he is such a nuanced, and complicated character. and i love characters like him.

It would've been so much easier if he hated Thomas and the Cromwells, if he was planning to betray them from the very beginning but that isn't the reality. He loved them, he saw them as his own family, he enjoyed being around them and being in their presence. His heart absolutely ached for what happened to Thomas, despite being the most instrumental person in his master's downfall. It was Risley's confession - that i don't believe was actually in the show - that really pushed Thomas to be executed.

And then there is the other hand, where even in the books there is a power play between Thomas and Stephen when it comes to Risley. They both want him, they both want to use him for their own ambition, they both want to show him off to the other just to say' I have him and you don't.' One of Thomas's main reasons in the books for having Risley close, was to spite Stephen.

And then you have these instances where, as much as Risley loves the Cromwells, he questions his place in their lives. Richard and Rafe outwardly talk down on him, Richard calls him an idiot, Rafe never liked him to begin with. He mentions how Thomas laughed at him when he suggested something and you can tell he questions if this family really accepts him, or not. Or if he is just another example of a man of 'noble' birth that Thomas parades around to show that he can.

So many complexities in Risley - even down to his attire. I was never sure if it was cheetah or jaguar or leopard clothing but the point is, those are both ambush and solidarity predators. They don't fit well in groups, especially the males; they will fight and kill, and they will ambush. I always saw Risley as a person who tried to fit in with the Cromwells but realized at the end, he never had a place, so his next logical step was simply an ambush.

Another animal, at least I find him comparable to is the snake that Thomas many times references in the books. Not just the snake, but the poison that eventually catches up to Thomas. Thomas spoke about how he was bitten by a snake in Italy, but it didn't kill him, but he never knew if it was poisonous or not. However, after that, he would consistently get ill, and it was implied that the poison was killing him slowly he just didn't know when. There was something about Risley being there, like the poison festering from the snake wound, slowly undoing the Cromwell house hold, slowly sinking his fangs into the stability and that family that let him in, and then eventually, destroying them.

#i see a pretty risley edit now i have to talk about him #he is so multifacted #it is why he and stephen fascinate me so much #in my personal hcs he and stephen are actually related by marraige like #he is stephen's nephew by marriage - married to stephen's blood niece #i do this thing where even tho stephen is the illegitmate gardiner takes care of all of them - but it's mostly just girls and if there are #boys he makes them go to the clergy #he's making his father's line suffer #anyway i love them both #risley is far more of a tragic character - caught between wanting to do the right thing but also his own fear but real greed for power #and inward resentment toward Thomas and his family - like i wish that was explored more. i think he hated them for a moment and stephen mos #certainly leaned into that but then risley realized how wrong he was but it was too late he had already fucked up #but also fuck mantel for the way she made stephen and risley hate each other or at least risley afraid of stephen #historically they remained best friends even when risley left stephen's tutelage - like mantel hates stephen i know #but making him borderline abusive to risley was so ugly #that and her refusing to accept that stephen worked for everything he had and was as lowborn as thomas and wolsey #like the beef i have with her #but she DID write Risley well #i am not going to deny that she made him sooo compelling so i can forgive her on some fronts

#I really don't know how to word this but #I've been getting bombarded with Maas(sp??) content whenever I scroll away from my lovely curated tumblr dash #which has increased the frequency of one of my personal least favorite things to come out of fast fashion publishing #and that is people listing 'the pregnancy trope' or 'accidental pregnancy' as one of their 'icks'#(I hated typing all of those words in succession lol)#I suppose it makes sense since the books these same people love are ✨spicy✨ (*cough*porn*cough*)#and I know it's not a radical revelation I'm having here but I am tired #the idea that pregnancy is a trope. that we can have the spice without the pregnancy. it's not a surprise. it's stories imitating life.#and yeah I can sympathize with a main character getting pregnant and promptly getting shoved out of the main plot line #but I personally want more stories of mothers going on adventures so that's as far as my sympathy extends #(I am also starting to get tired of the apparently well-intentioned women who are retaliating by advertising their books as 'without spice'#(for the love of everything holy and true and beautiful can we just. say what the book is about? can it have a plot?)#this is why I never pick up new fiction unless my girls on tumblr tell me it's good lol #shout-out to the moots vetting Emily Wilde for meeee #(I'm stuck on the second book because my brain doesn't want to read lately)#(but it's good. #That Ratio and her were working together seemed to be the case since we first found him but idk #Ruan Mei plays dumb when we ask about him but I thought it was clear that she did know him #Herta also pretends she doesn't know him for some reason #cringefail acquaintance #Jokes aside I wonder why they did that. Is it because they both are ehm working behind each other's back #(Herta when it comes to the IPC‚ the SU and the bet‚ Ruan Mei kind of with everything)‚ or is it due to some other more complex reason?#Based on we've seen thus far I do think Ratio and Ruan Mei were working together in something #and that she was in the known of at least some things. Perhaps not everything #She seems to care about things beyond her research even less than Herta does #But given what we're told it seems fair to conclude the fire Ratio had was given to him by Ruan Mei #Herta said Ruan Mei needed it for some research. So either she didn't need it anymore and didn't mind giving it to Ratio afterwards #or maybe what Ratio was doing was something she was a part of. Or did Ratio steal it when he was around the seclusion zone?#I'm not inclined to think that tbh it seems to me Ruan Mei must have been knowingly implied. Yet now she owes Herta a favour #Which is more valuable according to Herta. This quest has left me very curious about the development of all this #Screwllum suspected Ratio since the beginning. relating to bellum x linebeck, i dont see him comparing jolene to a squid an indicator of anything in relation to that, with linebeck having a thing for bellum its more of like. there's a lot of complicated ideas i have with what goes on between them during bellumbeck and bellum being a squid thing is more linebeck having a bit of a monsterfucker streak and having a bit of a thing for like. being tied up. as for literal squids he kinda just likes them as food and to dissect and learn about

How did I write so much stuff for my own stories🫠

#that's like 50k words. for nothing.#well not for nothing i was still getting to know the characters but then i switched the whole story #and now everything is different and i have 50k words just for referencing and ideas and names and stuff💀#shshdjshshsh #i want to write for this story again but where tf do i start😔#i have so many good potential stories with the same characters in the same world but what do i choose??????#johnny's silly rambles #context is that I've been reading my longest work so far (not in actual coherent story lines but I've written the most for it)#the different potential stories take up like around 200 documents #with actual beginnings and also out of context scenes that i can still use #they are also devided into around 4 main stories that i could use and then split into the different drafts that I've written so far #overall that's probably 200k words at least #that's a whole fucking LONG book right there but nothing is coherent💀#sad life... if only i knew how to write an actual plotline😔#ok that's enough rambling ahh💀

#I just......wanted to work on some new video editing techniques..........#Spoiler: It went........so fucking bad lol #Like restart my computer because it basically stopped functioning bad #That seems like a non sequitor but believe me getting from A to Z was an awful ordeal #I've been curious for a while if I could sync up my footage to the audio - y'know cut the video up in time with the music! Classic #Normally I'd fall back on WMM but it has this annoying desync glitch(?) where it renders everything correctly but previews it out of time #So trying to line up the visuals to the audio - well I have to restart and listen through everything so far for it to align properly :/#Lightworks is being a bitch as well - I guess it just stopped?? having a feature that it had a couple years ago that controls clip length #So I get random-length clips! That I can't stretch or extend! Y'know - The Thing I need to do!#I also tried Openshot and by about the point the advice had me changing my security settings I noped out #Literally would crash if I tried to import one (1) .png >:P #And I'm not about to give my info to Yet Another freeware like DaVinci Resolve since it went So Well with Lightworks #Didn't stop me from downloading and installing the wrong version for like an hour which Greatly lagged out my computer #And then as said it was the wrong version even if I did have access to it so I wouldn't be able to use it anyway!#How come we have such good opensource video capture and streaming software like OBS #And like LibreOffice for word processing and Audacity for audio and just - so many good opensource programs!#But video editing is a step too far #Ugh #Today's been a wash >:/#At least my uptime is all shiny sparkly new for streaming maybe tomorrow lol #I dunno it depends on how sleep goes - y'know how it is after being frustrated for so long #I really wanted to! I wanted to do a lot of things >:(#I'll see how it all goes #Guess I'm going back to WMM - ugh - once I've properly cooled down and Actually Prepared for the slog #If anyone has any video editing software recommendations I am all ears tho #Obviously not any of the ones mentioned here as they Did Not Work lol #I just want........an intuitive place where I can drag-and-drop images and be able to crop their length up or down to the audio #Hell I'll take a patch for the desync if such a thing exists lol - looks like it's been a problem for like 10 years! Hgg #I just want to Make Thing In Head happen! It is not a lack of will! I am 100% blaming my tools on this one lol #I'm an amateur video editor I have the right to be whiny!
