This is from my first (and so far only) fic for The Orville, a follow-up on that delicious season 3 finale handhold for Ed and Kelly, Hold My Hand and We’re Halfway There:

It’s like being at his own wedding again — Gordon singing, Kelly more drunk than anyone would guess, his own belly twinging with wistful hope for the future.

His fingers lace with Kelly’s. Or maybe hers lace with his. He’s not exactly sober himself.

“Gordon’s toast at our wedding was better.” He tries to keep his voice low. “Remember when he said you were a ten and I was an eight?”

“That was a little harsh.” Kelly’s hand squeezes his. “You’re easily an eight and a half on a good day.”

He chuckles, and she does, too.

Boozy chuckles.

They’ve always been good at boozy chuckles.

I feel like creating a writing tag game. It goes like this:

Here’s mine, for Stargate SG-1:

“Damn bugs,” Jack grumbled. He swatted madly at the insects swarming around his face. They were large and blue and appeared to be this planet’s equivalent of a mosquito. He smacked the back of his hand where another insect had just bitten him. The remains of the squashed bug left a trail of bluish guts smeared across his fingers. He wiped them with a grimace of distaste on his vest. “These things are eating me alive,” he griped, wishing he’d donned the BDU jacket over his T-shirt despite the heat and increased humidity.

Carter was not faring much better. Even Teal’c appeared to be suffering through the insect onslaught, slapping his large hands against his arms and neck. “I believe the insects in Minnesota to be worse, O’Neill,” said the Jaffa calmly. This earned him a dark look. Carter failed to hide a smile.

From this story

I remember tentatively penning (typing) this first ever scene or my first ever SG-1 story, and though the first draft was horrendous and not fit for publication (or meant for publication tbh), I had a lot of fun shaping it into something that came out 1000X better than what I started with.

• New Phillip. (I'll miss Yoshi but I like the new Phillip aswell)

• The camera angles are so pretty :D

the theme of loss throughout discovery has really struck me during my rewatch. its constant, inescapable. michael has lost her parents, she loses her captain, her identity within starfleet. she finds all these again, different. she finds adoptive parents, reconnects with sarek, loses them both. she reconnects with spock, loses him, refinds and completes his legacy. finds georgiou in a new form, loses her again. the crew loses airiam, almost loses saru. stamets loses culber, they find their way back to each other. adira loses gray, they find him again, they rediscover each other, are remade. the crew is thrown through time, loses their families, their friends. they come to find that starfleet has lost so much of itself, they come to help refind it

its like, we find each other. we lose each other. we have to figure out what that means. discovery evolves so much and spans so much, the loss is inevitable, but it remembers itself

Sorry i just wanna say WHY IS THERE A HUGE QUALITY UPGRADE IN SEASON 4.

Every season i swear we improve a little bit at a time and episode one of season 4 i was hit with cinematography. WHAT. WE ARE REALLY OPENING LIKE THAT?? Big impovement in animation (which already had an upgrade in s3) and also in lighting. Man i hope this is kept throughout the season, the lighting in this first ep was so good. Eats

Also yay we continuing to be character focused!!! *dancing* Love how garmadon inserted himself into the plot. He can truly do no wrong

Its taken me 3 seasons but i might be hooked. We are finally cooking!!

I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT SEASON FOR IS EPIC, WHY DIDN'T YOU BELIEVE ME???

Season four and five definitely have a quality spike, and I'm pretty sure season six is on par with that. Season seven The quality goes way down but it spikes to the highest it's ever been in seasons eight and nine (oh and ten). Season eleven is a little weird quality wise but the quality goes up overall. Season twelve and thirteen both go up. The Island goes down a bit, but the quality of Seabound SKYROCKETS. Same with Crystalized. And then the quality of Dragons Rising is just phenomenal. The quality keeps going up because it's literally following animation from 2011 all the way to 2024. Sorry for the rant, uh--

So many character moments in season four, you're gonna love it. Aw man I'm SO excited for you to watch this season. I should probably rewatch it too because AH it's so good. Garmadon in this season is FANTASTIC. He has some of my favorite quotes in the entire show in this season specifically. Zane! Cliffhanger! Hehe, yeah imagine watching that in 2014 and then having to WAIT for the next episode. It was torture.

YES, PIXEL IS HOOKED. REJOICE!!!! (honestly someone just has to make it to season four for them to be officially hooked on the show. I've seen it happen many times)

Also I don't know if you're a big soundtrack person, but the soundtrack in this season is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. When I say I love this season I am not exaggerating. Of my top ten favorite episodes, it has at least 3 of them. Versus, Spellbound, The Forgotten Element, Day of the Dragon... dang I love this season.

while i did enjoy most of the episodes, i’m left feeling kinda disappointed? i feel like every interaction colin and penelope had was already shown in the trailers/teasers (not counting the carriage ofc). but every time i felt like more was going to happen/they were going to expand on anything between them, it cut away. i appreciate the fact that this is a huge ensemble cast and there are lots of stories that need telling, but it starts feeling a bit jarring when the main romance is left lacking

sometimes i think about the fact that i first discovered critical role beginning of march 2020, watched the first seven episodes of campaign 2 and got overwhelmed by how many episodes there were and stopped watching. i had no idea that was actually the optimal fucking time to pick up critical role and i dropped the ball. anyways. i’m officially buckling down and watching campaign 2
