#tokusummer#the high school heroes#sentai#burning himself to keep others warm#if you are too bright to look at no one can look too close#this guy has a lot of things going for him#1. he's the motw for THE trans episode of all time#2. because of this he is absolutely chock full of 'living a lie' symbolism and its very well done imo#3. he gets some beautiful shots with amazingly dramatic lighting and contrast that really add to the theme of the episode#4. love when light ≠ good + burning it all down so something better can be reborn from the ashes#5. sentai alumni actor#idk i just love how accurately this episode captures the pain and fear that comes with wanting to be seen#but knowing that means actually letting people see you#also he does kai's henshin pose 10/10

Obsessed w the way they lit Henry in this scene. It's all so soft, and warm, and cozy, and almost dream-like, not to mention that backlighting is so flattering. And the way it lights his hair like he's got this halo as if he's some kind of angel from above. They didn't have to go that hard, but they did. It keeps me up at night.

Do not. Give me. An amv opening. Don't do that. Postpone your airing date. I don't care#I feel like I wasn't as pissed with it when they did that for s3 but it's probably a case of the s3 opening at least looked somewhat–#better (??) + you can make a mistake once but don't think I will let it slip a second time#Other than that... To be fair this episode was animated fairly well. I think you can really notice a big quality drop after the–#Ranpo-realizing-who-Kamui-is sequence but overall it's more than okay.#The colours of the ship irk me a little but to be fair I never thought colours were b/sd anime strong point...#This episode was sooooooo political in so many ways I could literally talk about it for hours#(don't test me I'm not kidding. Talking about politics in anime for hours is something I've done in the past and will do in the future.)#(Then again I study/think/breathe politics pretty much 24/7 so is that really surprising... )#I need to write an essay on Fukuchi's speech alone. The public speech communication techniques [redacted Italian politics comment].#The way he's welcomed [redacted eu parliament comment]. Unfortunately I don't have time for it but breaking it down very quickly#1. Suggesting to unify defences worldwide is INSANE. No one would ever take it. Probably going to be cynical here but there's one (1) thing#states care about and it's the independence of their own sovereignty (that is: no one has the right to come and tell what must be done–#within one's borders). Eu has been trying to do exactly that (unify defences) for decades to no avail. Nato is on the brink of crumbling–#down. It's just... Such a distant perspective from how the world works right now? Sannyo's Flowers
You occasionally see art of Sannyo with flowers:
The reason for this is not only that Sannyo Komakusa is named after the Komakusa flower, but also that she named and themed her Spellcards after Japanese mountain flowers.
Mountain Sign "Heaven-Shaking Kumomagusa" / Mountain Apparition "Astonishing Kumomagusa" (depending on difficulty)
Mountain Sign "Usuyukisou Shining with Bewitching Light" / Mountain Apparition "Usuyukisou of Thronging Crowds of Youma" (depending on difficulty)
And of course, her namesake
Mountain Flower "Komakusa of Massacre" / Mountain Flower "Mountain Queen of Massacre" ( depending on difficulty)
Even her nonSpells resemble flowers.
Its extremely cute that instead of modeling them after smoke, or gambling, she chose some of her favorite mountain flowers. She has very unique tastes, especially the Usuyukisou which aren't quite conventionally beautiful but they definitely look like lasers with sunlight shining off of them. Though they certainly have their charm shining in the sunlight.
She actually has a few flowers in her den in Lotus Eaters as well.
After Mizutaki released the script for a bunch of Lotus Eaters. Including LE29 and 30, it was revealed that both her dragon divider and flowers were part of ZUN'S script, making Sannyo's flowers primary canon!
We aren't likely to be seeing them in Lotus Eaters again since Sannyo can only keep them on the mountain, but it's really great we got to see them when we did. It's nice knowing she canonicaly takes care of some in addition to modeling her Spellcards after them.
Also last but not least, the Title Lotus Eaters gave her was.
a very appropriate, and poetic title for her; and it explains why she loves tough mountain flowers so much. she's a bit of a mountain flower herself after all.

Some have 5 evenly spread ones.#I might have added too much here. Maybe I should have stopped at showing her Spellcards for flow. But I wanted to show the Lotus Eaters one#I really need to personally get screenshots for her Spellcards. They deserve better definition photos#I feel like I should properly say “alpine” flower but i thought writing it plainly “mountain” flower would seem less ostentatious

re: "good girl" i think they say it once randomly as a joke and its just one of those things that gets him wayyy more than they expected it would. so now its their secret weapon and they use it very sparingly and every single time he gets super embarrassed about it but it works ill tell you what.

#some of you who know me or have been around for a bit might know about my fear of oceans and big waterbodies#they used to be extremely dear to me and a traumatic event really fckd it up for me#well in any case.. i went to the ocean/swimming in general for the first time in like 2 years#and the night before i thought i'd def not be able to go in the water#but i did and it was one of the most peaceful things i've done this year#like i felt the comfort i used to know.. was floating and looking at the clouds and it was so nice#there's beauty in fighting fears#and yeah#<3

ive said this before, but i still wish that when people did homages/art works in the style of old masters they'd make it more of their own thing rather than just a direct copy of the original just with blorbos put in the place of the original subjects lol...
#personal#this might just be a me thing lol#but like one of the only good things art school taught me#was that when creating stuff based on other artists#you have to somehow still make it your own ...#like look at the way that person handles colour or their brushstrokes or subject matter etc#and do your own interpretation of that!#i always feel like it's more satisfying too lol??#like ive done a LOTof work inspired by klimt#but i v rarely copy his composition or even the specific patterns he uses in his work#just cos it's so much more fun to come up with your own but with a similar vibe to his??#idkidk i'm rambling#this kinda came about cos i see a lot of leyendecker based stuff and like ofc it's beautiful#but i also cant help but feel some artists are trying TOO much to look like the original#rather than putting their own spin on it...#maybe i shuoldve put this on my art blog... ah well we're here now#anyway if u read this far in my tags: i hope ur having a great day <3

#phoenix mercury#i can't believe this guy doesn't have any storm merc games uploaded but w/e#it was a good game actually#the wild thing is that dt is like th 4th option for most of this game#and at season's end she was first in points first in stocks first in assists second in rebounds and first in field goals for the team#not everyone can be that person.......#obviously there is a different pace and style of play#also again it is wild that the merc shock and mystics all finished at .500 but the merc missed the playoffs#bc there were more teams in the western conference#that being said it is impressive as hell that they won the title the first time they made the playoffs since 2000#tamara moore is also interesting as a player bc she too is a guard but i feel like at least in this game#she moves so similarly to dt and she's wearing the knee socks and a bun#and they handle the ball similarly you know how dt loves to palm the ball moore does a similar thing#and dt has not changed the way she's moved in 20 years so it's not tough to id her#so penny's not in the game she's at an aus camp but in the july 5 game vs the sparks she and anna deforge are both in#and they are also very similar looking in 240p#plus penny as we know is 13 anna is 30 so they both have the 3#fun fact this is also the first tech of her wnba career#it's not a fun one tho#but you watch these early games and you see why she has to fight with the refs so much#Oh and another thing sometime between 2004 and 2024 the sparks changed the shade of yellow from a vibrant beautiful one#to something very ugly and pale. Pls change back. Yellow is so good when done well but is so easy to do poorly smh#Realizing they were in purple this game but yellow in the 7/5 game.
