SUDAN NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION

The RSF's siege of El Jezira is still ongoing for over twenty days now. The attacks began after RSF commander Abuagla Keikal defected and joined SAF. The RSF is now torturing the people of Keikal's home state for his own actions.

In the town of al-Hilalia alone, at least 527 civilians have been murdered. Across Jezria, at least 1,237 people have been murdered as of November 10th. These reports are likely understatements, and deaths continue to rise.

The International Organization for Migration reports that more than 343,000 people have been displaced from Jezira state, seeking refuge in towns that are already overwhelmed with refugees due to the worsening displacement crisis.

Those who have been unable to evacuate Jezria face daily threats of looting, abductions/being taken as hostages, rape, and death. If they are not outright murdered by the RSF, they are killed by starvation, poisoning, or disease. There have also been reports of women resorting to suicide to avoid the trauma of being raped.

Please take action to support on the ground initiatives providing aid to Sudanese refugees, including those who have fled from Jezria state. Linked below are some highly reputable organizations that have been repeatedly shared by members of the Sudanese community. If you are able to donate to one, please do.

How is everyone feeling about the Taennie news? Knetz have fully accepted the truth and moved on, I suggest I-fans need to do the same. (Jennie is known for having dating news come out regularly, so it's not a big deal for BP fans. For Armys, the sane ones, we've known for a while now haven't we? It's not a shock anymore.)

I read the comments on my previous ask and don't worry! I will not be sharing anything sensitive whatsoever. I find it funny when other shippers say things like "How is it possible that K-fans can keep things to themselves?" I don't think I've seen anyone else address this yet so let me tell you why.

K-Jikookers are mostly queer. Yes, you read that right. Unlike other shippers, who are straight women that self-insert as one of the members (like they do with TK) we support them as a couple. This means that we don't want to date either of them, and we don't self-imagine as their partner - we know that they're unavailable because they're exclusive to each other. You get me? And we know first hand how terrible it is to be queer in a conservative society. There are actually very few real romantic shippers in Korea, (again, KM is the only romantic ship that has a substantial fanbase) simply because it is so hard to accept two men dating. This is why you will see K-Jikookers on Twitter all being close friends/meeting up in person, because they are kindred spirits. I think it might be hard for westerners to really understand. How do I emphasize this more? The older generation in Korea, anyone older than 30+, is deeply homophobic, to the point where they see anything LGBT as western influence and pervasion. Being American, I know it's hard to grasp that level of homophobia - it's not hate comments about your sexuality or people refusing to sell you a cake for a gay wedding. It's social death, rejection, parents disowning their children, getting fired from your job. I'm not kidding. Do you think us, as queer fans who love and support KM, will willingly out them?

We would never, ever, ever do that, because we know the repercussions. Some Jikookers like to fantasize about their coming out, and I want you to understand: the K-side is terrified of that day. Yes, we all think it will happen in due time, but we are very very scared. You think the hate that JM is getting now is bad? You think people sending food to JK's apartment is bad? Nope. You haven't seen anything yet. You understand what I mean, right? Their coming out will not be a cute post. It will be a carefully orchestrated move complete with a legal and PR team. If/when they are out, their lives will be in immediate danger. I truly believe they will leave the country for a bit, maybe even months, maybe a year. There will not be any public sightings, fan meets, concerts. KM know this very well too. I'm sure there's already a plan in place for it.

And anyone searching for KM evidence on K-Jikookers social media, I would say don't bother. It's almost impossible. The white day photo leak was a massive mistake, and I know exactly who leaked it because they were removed from all group chats immediately. K-Jikookers were very very angry with them (and also cussing out foreigners...please, we all need to keep our mouths shut and keep stuff within our own circles.)

They used to have pretty strict rules about who can join the guild. The requirements have gone down, but it is still fairly hard to get into the guild (while they test strength, they also check for morals and personality just to make sure its a good fit)

The guildhall is one of the biggest in Fiore and many members get lost in the halls because of how complex it is

Sabertooths S-class consists of Sting, Rogue, Minerva, Rufus and Orga (everyone is betting on Yukino earning the title soon tho)

The entire guild is super competitive. They have competitions over everything. I'm talking races, cooking, magic, trivia, anything you can think of

While the guild has chilled out a lot since Sting became master, they are still known as one of the more brutal guilds. Do not piss them off

Sting is the master but most people end up going to Minerva for help with things. Sting can't even be mad because she handles everything way better than he would (tho she still recommends killing people as a way to solve problems so you gotta watch for that)

All of them are still criminals. They know all the laws because there's a score board in the guildhall to see who can break the most without getting caught. If you get caught you get put on the wall of shame (Orga almost always gets caught cause he cheers really loud when he thinks he got away with things and then gets arrested)

Mermaid Heel

Every part of the construction of the guildhall was done by women. They have never have men set foot on the property (music and books are all by women too)

The guild is a safe haven for any woman. They have resources to help with homelessness, abuse, etc.

The guild is so nice. Like they have a spa, hair dresser, yoga, nail studio, dance classes, anything you can think of. The vibes are amazing

Kagura is the masters right hand woman. It's rumored that she will take over when their master steps down

They have a massive garden that is overflowing with not only flowers but herbs and vegetables

Mermaid Heel is the most chill guild in Fiore. They don't have guild brawls, rarely destroy towns, and overall are just super behaved

They go hard for pride tho. I'm talking massive parade, huge party in the guild and everything. The entire month is a party. One that they barely survive (that is also the only time men are allowed on the property. Only lgbt+ and only in specific areas)

So glad to see you’re back, CC, and feeling better! To me, this reading vis a vis Camilla screams, “Be careful what you wish for, young lady, for you will surely get it” (aka Karma). I remember the Diana era from 1980 on, and - although Diana was no saint, nor am I a Diana fan per se - from the beginning of Charles’ marriage to D, he and Camilla were in cahoots…the pre-wedding intertwined C&C bracelet, Cam’s attendance at the wedding, Cam’s social hovering over a young 20-somethng Diana, etc. Camilla had always remained in Charles’ equation, even before they resumed their physical affair while both were married to other (also unfaithful) spouses. 

Fast forward to the present and we’ve recently gotten gloating BP/Camilla-sourced articles about Cam winning “the Game of Thrones” against a dead Diana, or Cam showing “joy in jewelry” while Catherine is a jewelry disappointment. Camilla (as royal mistress) wanted the King, but without all the hassle of his Crown. But Camilla, dear, that’s not how it works…at least in Charles’ reign, because he would never have condescended to be a King with a Mistress rather than with a Queen. You asked for Charles, you got him…albeit with all of his royal trappings as well. They’re a package deal, Queen Camilla, so suck it up, Buttercup :)

I remember the Diana era as well, and before hand, when Camilla was one of quite a few married women that Charles kept as mistresses (Lady Kanga was another one). No matter how hard I try to not judge and to see things from another person’s point of view, I just can not hold with that sort of behaviour. I do believe that Camilla was a presence in their marriage and that Charles paid her more attention than was wise, and I think that would have been hurtful to any spouse, let along a young woman in her early twenties. 

Those current articles are just gloating and spiteful. It is not a good look on Camilla - or indeed on anyone. I think that Camilla would have been happier today if she had remained the royal mistress, but that didn’t happen. Now she is in a situation where she is very unhappy. There is an element of ‘be careful what you wish for’ in it, I can definitely see that. At the same time, I wish she had the strength to use this situation to take the higher path instead of lapsing into pettiness, simply because it would be so much better for her as a person, and I like to see people work on developing the best in themselves and not the worst.

Alright, so now that we've established that I do NOT believe this is a child and that any indication of the sort in CRK is retconwork that is not to be taken even remotely seriously, let's do this. Dear god I hope this doesn't destroy my followerbase. Consider this me going public about the fact that @sharkpedia is me and that this blog is pretty much most of the reason that one has gone inactive. Oh, and if you still prefer seeing them as a child, that's totally fine, I don't think it's bad to do so from a media literacy perspective or anything, but it's definitely not my preference.

Sexuality Headcanon: Incredibly bisexual, though there's a particular weakness for big women. Gender Headcanon: Masc-presenting NB, they/them strictly though. I call this thing a guy but without any of the bearing of actual gender.

Ship: Okay. I was very, very, VERY wary of this one at first but the more I thought about it the more I was like well none of this makes sense at all so I might as well take it. Black Pearl. Weakness to big women comes in here, they follow her around like a lost puppy in an extremely gay manner. Worth noting here, the reason I was hesitant at first is that Black Pearl seems intrinsically tied to the idea CRK tries to shove down your throat that this is a child, right? But then I thought, wait, not even that makes sense. The Duskgloom Sea and Soda Islands are like an entire continent apart, so there's absolutely no way in hell they could have went from the Soda Islands, to BP's cave, then back to the Soda Islands THAT fast to make the Soda Islands story be bale to happen. It makes no sense. I get that they're trying to imply it, but they did it so haphazardly and in a way that makes so little sense that I find it hard to take seriously. So, yeah, BP is my pick here. BP is transfem here btw just noting that BROTP: Considering Peppermint? But idk I don't find their dynamic THAT fun. They're friends tho. Pirate meanwhile, that's a whole other story. I think Pirate and Sorbet have a dumb little petty cartoon villain and incompetent henchman dynamic going on. NOTP: Peppermint. Sorry, but considering I do not see Sorbet as a child at all, Peppermint x Sorbet is... Just a lil uncomfortable for me. Again, no judgement, specially if you do prefer your shark to be a child, but it's completely off-limits for me.

Random headcanon: Not present in the design but I think it'd be rly cool if they kept a shark tooth necklace from a young age. Like they shed a fang and throw it away but in that moment remember that "oh wait i've seen land cookies wearing these before!! and they look super cool!!!" and they frantically go back to get it, which they do, and they've been rocking with it ever since. They've also probably got a similar build to Alchemist, just a little thicker with a tasteful amount of buffness behind it. Like just a tiny bit. Wider than you'd expect, but not ripped by any means. Oh and I guess the entire age situation goes here too LOL, this is a short king to me (until they're in shark form at which point HOLY SHIT, BIG)

General opinion: Yeah I'm not normal. I have a history and a half with this little fucker. I was gay as hell at first sight and within the update I had NO reason to believe this wasn't a child, but at some point presumably due to a lack of any high degree of media literacy I grew kinda weary and decided to not touch that. And then years later during the events this year of me getting back into Cookie Run, a lot wiser, I went "hey wait a fucking minute" and realized that the "canon" statements of them being a kid hold absolutely no weight and contradict previous material and were clearly just done to boost the dude's marketability. And since then I've felt vindicated regaining access to my cute little shark person and allowing myself to be abnormal <3 cute, fun, attractive, he instills a somewhat similar feeling in me as Pure Vanilla does. ... Worth noting that any content the shark has in Kingdom holds 0 weight to me. Pretty much everything I think about regarding them comes from Ovenbreak. Specially because their personality hasn't been so brightly on display since their debut, specially not in CRK where they're so much more passive and woobified to hell and back.

Also their costumes peaked at Pirate Overlord it has not gotten any better since then.

The dumber and more incoherent PR is usually from Kensington Palace. - ROFLing at this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 only because w&k think themselves so superior and they think all their strategies are "long-term", but they are absolutely nothing when it comes to Charles' pr games! Did I lie, a lot of the KP PR is just one-note and stupid and doesn't help William and Kate at all? Like, here are some examples of glaring PR flubs that are laughable if you think about it for 0.5 seconds:

William's "interest" in homelessness is framed as a long-time passion he inherited from Diana, but William has never done anything notable for the homeless and he comes off as pompous because he's just sitting on a money pile while saying "Wow, someone should help these people, OMG, something needs to be done!" The interview where he said "any one of us could be a few steps from homelessness" was so rich, I thought it was a joke.

Kate's rotating hobbies and "passions" that either come and go (textiles, sustainability, the piano, baking) or are seasonal interests that are ignored outside of slices of the year (scouts, tennis, photography)

Mental illness "advocates" who demonize therapy when it suits them. William has a "toolbox" of needs or whatever but can't find a clue in the damn thing

William got COVID in April 2020, hid it at the time, but then when KP maybe accidentally leaked it that November they reported it as if he was on death's door, aka it would have caused alarm had the public known. They also did not disclose when or where he isolated, making it seem like he exposed his entire family at Amner Hall. The whole thing was a mess.

William's work with football players has regressed to him just attending games and making "Good Luck" videos. Remember Heads Up? What happened to talking about mental health and football? I can only assume he gave up after he kept putting his foot in his mouth during the documentaries and podcasts.

I can't remember where bpwf was first released and the order of its premiere in each country but it's interesting to see that the majority of fandom [who participated at least] are from North America. Also Asia being the third highest group was fascinating because at least when it comes to Twitter, I’ve noticed a lot of the Namor/Shuri fan art has come from Thai and Korean artists. They are seriously carrying this fandom and I'm here for all of it.

ALSO: Random, but where are my Antarctica Nashuri fans?? 😭 I’m also curious to know how Africa has received the Black Panther franchise all together over the years. Do they resonate with it? Do they find it offensive/ overly dramatized? I’m curious. If you are a fan who lives in Africa, can you comment on your experience with this? I'd be happy to know.

To be honest, I’ve always assumed that the Marvel fandom [along with superhero spaces as a whole like DC and what not] were male dominated but this poll gave me some hope. I am curious what parts of fandom men frequent more vs women. For example, do Comic Cons ring in more women, more men, half and half? With fan art, do majority of artists identify as women, men, other? It’s interesting to think about. I also love seeing women/fem identifying individuals show up in these spaces because countless times we are made to feel like an inposter and harassed for our interests in comics, games, movies, shows, music, the list goes on. Questioned down with trivia, fact checking and all sorts of BS ultimately trying to prove that “you aren't a real fan". Don't ever let anyone make you feel like you have to prove your knowledge of anything to be interested in something you like. ESPECIALLY if it is coming from a man child guy.

It’s amazing to see how diverse this fandom is! I didn’t expect that we would have such high numbers of black/brown fans/shippers. As a black mcu fan myself, it’s exciting to see us show up in fandom. Fandom has unfortunately been heavily white/Eurocentric for a very long time, which has slowly changed but we still have a long ways to go in it’s inclusivity. With the increase of bipoc characters and the actors who play them, I look forward to this continual progression.

ALSO: It’s been heartwarming to witness Mexican, Indigenous, Lantix fans feel seen with bpwf and Tenoch, Mabel and Alex's performances! I remember how enamored the black community was with Chadwick and the first BP. We were hyped to have this treasure of a movie, which I assume is similar to how the Asian community felt with Shang-Chi and so on. It's been said countless times before but representation truly makes the world of a difference and the power of the bipoc dollar should never be taken lightly. We cause real change when we support something.

There will always be a spectrum of ages in any fandom but I figured the majority of people were probably within this age range. It may be due to the timeline of when the mcu was born and how it has progressed alongside millennials? This also explains why I keep seeing fans make posts about their age gaps with Tenoch and wanting to be his questionably young gf 😩 [get in line]

Okay *inhales exhales* I know I'm going to get flak for this but let's hop into it lol I saw the scale sway back and forth for a minute but it mostly stayed between White Wolf [Bucky Barnes] and Iron Heart [Riri Williams]. I myself personally love both answers! My annoyance is not with shuriri, but with its fandom. They have been some of the biggest instigators/bullies since bpwf has dropped. I've seen all kinds of mental gymnastics from saying the nashuri fandom would rather see shuri with a killer than support gay love [like what??] to Letitia is clearly lesbian because of her attire [pls be fr] and everything in between. It’s so unwarranted and I never see Nashuri fans doing the same thing back. Enjoy what you like, and leave the rest behind. It's such an easy 1+1=2 concept and yet, it goes over people's head still. It’s honestly disappointing when a fandom turns you off to a ship/character, especially when the ship is lowkey dope. Something that reminds me of this was the stucky fandom when the Captain America movies came out. Y’all.......when I tell you this fandom had me STRESSED 🥴. I saw racism/ deliberate exclusion of Sam, hate towards Sharon Carter just because she was a woman, you name it. They annoyed me so bad that I began to dislike Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers as characters [trust me, it made no sense lol] I couldn’t stand seeing either one of their names pop up. It took some of the Avenger movies [and honestly the sambucky fandom + Sebastian Stan/ Anthony Mackie's friendship] coming out years later for me to even be remotely cool with the idea of Bucky Barnes again. It was cool seeing what other protagonists this fandom is drawn to outside of Shuri/Black Panther. I’m curious to know what other ships y’all also enjoy [feel free to drop them in the comments if you care to share]. I feel like a lot of the top picks in this poll I also resonated with, like Iron man for example. I don’t know what it is but there is just something about a genius character with a mix of charisma/ big softy + sarcastic energy that will do it for me every 👏🏾single👏🏾 time 👏🏾

What I hope RU Next can achieve is a somewhat healthier attitude towards girls and women in survival shows. Idk but watching GP999, QD2, BP and now QD Puzzle really puts into perspective how both producers and fans are so quick to demonize every girl who breathes in the wrong direction while only bringing up the positives when it comes to guys.

Part of why boys planet was so fun to me personally was that you really got to see everyone becoming friends. Yes there was evil editing, but even then fans had way more sympathy for the guys who got edited poorly, when earlier they took what mnet had to say about the girls at face value. Everyone talks about the friendships in boys planet, but friendships in girls planet and queendom got mostly ignored in favor of fanwars even when the trainees themselves talked about how close they had gotten. “Attitude” seems to only be a huge problem when it comes to girls. Like remember the Woonggi/Phanbin banter? Obviously that was super light hearted and fun, but can you imagine the reaction if two girls said stuff like that? They would’ve been called rude, bullies, probably would never have their debut supported. Why do we only judge girls so harshly?

Since the girls on RU Next are, from my understanding, all hybe trainees, it’s in hybe’s best interests to not create a bad image for any of their potential future idols. That’s why I have some faith that the editing, and by extension the fans, will be kinder to these girls. I have my problems with the show (a 12 yr old seriously??) but in regards to how girls on survival shows are viewed, maybe things can improve. If this show sets a precedent, we could hope to see less pitting women against each other in kpop. Hopefully this will not just be a hybe privilege, but can extend to how survival shows are handled in general.

In conclusion, give me more friendships! I know that some of these girls will grow close, so let’s stop pretending they all secretly hate each other. Again, both the producers and fans have a responsibility to not put down other women just to lift up the girls they like.

My thing is, it doesn't even matter what the fandom is. If there is poc and BP in a film/show and there's a white woman anywhere in the mix AT ALL, the white and white identified parts of the fandom are going to IMMEDIATELY get deeply, DEEPLY stupid, uncritical and moronic. I don't have patience for it, because I'm not obsessed with whiteness to the point that I can't form a cogent thought that is critical of a white person's behaviour in any piece of media, but ESPECIALLY in a piece of media like Spiderverse, where it's SO CLEAR how intentional they are? They don't beat you to death with the race aspect, they don't even mention race at all, BUT the coded language Rio uses, and is used throughout the movie, a movie, btw which is about belonging, finding your place and coming into your own, and they DELIBERATELY chose Peter and Gwen, the only two white people in Miles' life, to betray him. His thing with Gwen (while annoying) was underscored in the movie, and then she spends most of it breaking his heart with betrayal after betrayal. Peter lets Miles down, sure. But Gwen very literally lies to his face AND by omission. OVER AND OVER again. The one person she spent all this time telling us, was her only friend. She tells him there's only a small elite team of spider people and so he can't be in it. Come to find out it's an entire WORLD of them. She makes it seem like she's just here to see him for a bit, she had a whole mission she was there for. She makes it seem like she's worried about him, but she was trying to stop him from disrupting the canon event. She KNOWS his father is going to die and expects him not to do anything about it while hers gets to live. She KNOWS he's the original anomaly and doesn't say anything. She tries to reason with him about letting his FATHER DIE, in the name of this institution they've erected. She CONSISTENTLY hurts him! And then you have EEDIATS on here like "gwen's been through trauma." SO? Miles is in the middle of a traumatic event, spearheaded by her deceit. Trauma doesn't permit you to be shitty.

And after all that, the two people that actually help Miles? Are not only people he doesn't know (Hobie, Spiderbyte), but they're young Black people. Again, a deliberate choice was made here. Because take it however you want, when you're talking about a young Black boy going through that period where he's trying to find himself and where he belongs, race is gonna be part of that. How many Black folks have been let down, disappointed and just plain harmed by the white people we called friends? Come on now. So after ALL that, these dummies STILL want to SHIP MILES, with someone who hurt him so much? For what reeeeeeeeeeaaaason?

Like I've said before, this movie isn't even ABOUT ships, which is another part that annoys me. These people can't even engage with a piece of media without trying to find some romance in there. Let it go man. It's totally okay for Miles to not end up with anybody, but it's ESPECIALLY weird to ship him with someone who was so terrible to him.

The fandom has no problem with BTS members dating women if the women is someone they as in the fandom loves. They were fine with sohee and all is because they like sohee and think she's cool and jk's type so they had zero problems but put someone the whom the fandom doens't like then it's havok. They were mad when the mijoo picture got leaked cause mijoo wasn't someone they would picture jk with, cause for them mijoo is not of the same status as jk so the havok.

Now take example of tae and Jennie, the girl is successful in her own life but problem is armys hate bp members so they won't accept it or it's hard for them to accept it. Even now the fandom is in belief that it was some media play from her company's side.

Another example is So Yoon, armys were ready to ship her with RM cause again they like her. Fun fact is armys loves everyone who they think might be queer and that is a fact. They think the same for so hee.

It's still baffling to me how they made threads over threads as to how taehyung is gay and wouldn't date a woman as if he declared his sexuality to them lol

This is easy to explain once you realize it’s different groups of people within the fandom doing those three things. With some overlap, granted, but it’s primarily different groups of people.

I keep saying, it’s natural to make generalizations when discussing fandoms, but ARMY is the last fandom for which many of these kinds of generalizations make any sense. The fandom is simply too big for claims like this to have any real bearing on the facts. In my opinion.

Spoiler-Free Review: Godsdamn but this book makes me FUCKING ANGRY! I mean this in a good way, by the way, as this is frankly speaking a pretty good read.

Look, it’s not every day that a book pisses me off, but this one pissed me off in the best possible way, with its focus on the sheer hypocrisy of white people - specifically privileged white women - when it comes to the much larger suffering that everyone else around them experiences. From the moment she is introduced all the way to the very end of this novel, Bunny/Elizabeth thinks of no one but herself. Her disinterest as a teenager can be forgiven, I suppose, because I think a majority of teenagers are self-centered little shits to varying degrees - and I say that as a teenager who was pretty self-centered myself. The few who aren’t are rare and far between.

But later on, as she grows more and more comfortable in her place in the oil industry, you can practically SEE her convincing herself that what she’s doing, what her industry is doing, is right and just and not as problematic as everyone thinks it is. Worse, one can also read how she twists her WILLFUL IGNORANCE into a VIRTUE because IT BENEFITS HER TO DO SO. It’s just so INFURIATING to see that happen, since she has the privilege and the opportunity to do better, and yet: SHE DOESN’T!

The funny thing is, SHE GETS CALLED OUT ON IT! There are several moments throughout the novel wherein she is forced to confront how she doesn’t take a stand on anything, for just sitting on a fence, for thinking only of her own comfort, and while she sometimes pauses to think about what the other person’s saying and wonder if maybe they’re right, you can almost FEEL her flinch away from anything that makes her uncomfortable. THEN she goes RIGHT back to thinking any line of thought that makes her feel “safe” and one gets to watch as she chooses the path that makes her feel better, even if it comes at the cost of other people’s lives. They’re not HER people after all, how can she consider the plight of some nebulous entity who lives half the world away and whom she’s never met? This takes a chillingly exploitative turn towards the end of the novel.

I’ll admit, for a few moments while reading this I wonder if there’s anything she could have realistically done to actually take a stand and do something. The size and complexity of the oil industry is mentioned repeatedly throughout the novel; at various points Bunny/Elizabeth herself says that she can’t understand all of it, no matter how hard she tries. And when one is faced with something THAT big, that has the capacity to mutate into a new form to avoid accountability and instead re-emerge stronger than ever— How does one fight against something like that? Seen from that perspective maybe Bunny/Elizabeth’s reticence can be understood, even sympathized with, but after a certain point even this sympathy evaporates because it becomes clear that she’s CHOOSING to remain complacent.

But the interesting thing is, all this rage at Bunny/Elizabeth and the life she’s chosen can easily be turned on oneself. You read this book and wind up asking yourself: “Am I actually doing anything about the way the world works? Am I doing enough?” These are important questions, in my opinion, and applies to a lot more issues than just the theme of climate crisis that this book’s built around. None of these questions are comfortable or soothing, and the potential answers are likely to be less so, but they’re questions we need to ask regardless, if we don’t want to face the same kind of future Bunny/Elizabeth faces at the end of the novel.

Overall, this is an infuriating read, but excellent precisely BECAUSE it’s infuriating. It reveals some very uncomfortable truths and make the reader as some very difficult questions, leading to answers that are probably even MORE uncomfortable and difficult than the questions themselves. But the novel also emphasizes the need to ask those questions and find those answers, because seeking only to live in a bubble of comfort, unbothered and undisturbed by the wider world’s troubles, means living a life devoid of compassion and empathy, and only leads to a future where the entire world suffers.

so I saw a tiktok and got an idea...

okay, i am currently in place of making questionable choices (Are they bad? no, are they realistic?...) and I think I want to try to do a 100k challenge for Okoye or just the women of Black Panther.

before wakanda forever, I did not really encounter a lot of fics that center the "older" women in the cinematic black panther verse, and it is better now but also like...being a side character is different than a story that follows a character's POV.

It would be cool to see stories that center Nakia as a spy, a mercenary, or dive into her international work pre and post BP.

Okoye has had a hell of a character growth arc, was an avenger during the blip, and is like a badass with a broad emotional inner world. It would be cool to see stories that focused on her journey.

There is a post floating around describing all the connections Ayo has. She was introduced in the MCU before any other woman from Wakanda and I think may have also been in more projects, too. They didn't give us a lot but she's in a canon queer ship, and that combo gives a lot of room to play & create a lot.

And Ramonda? Our queen portrayed by Angela Bassett? The idea of writing stories for her, all of them, is so ripe with possibility.

I don't know how to start a challenge on A03 (yet) but if I figure it out, would people want to participate? People might write one shots, character studies, or really complex multi part situations but it could be cool to just add that to the fandom and its engagement in online spaces.

Rick V-024-E loves his daughter and is extremely proud of her. When he found out she was pregnant he tried to get her to have an abortion for fear of her future, but she refused. He made sure he was more around from then on so that she could go to medical school and become a surgeon (for humans). He is concerned about her drinking habits, but doesn't say much because it'd be hypocritical. He's the kind of dad that cuts up fruit for his kid to show his affection.

Morty V-024-E loves his mom, but they aren't close. They get along, but Beth feels a bit of resentment toward both him and Summer because she feels like they were what made her dad stick around more. This isn't true, it was a combination of Rick having matured and realizing that it wasn't too late to take care of his daughter.

Jerry:

Rick has known Jerry for a longg time (18 years) at this point. He really didn't like Jerry for a long time, but has grown to consider him family. He thinks Jerry is stupid though.

Morty loves his dad, but he doesn't understand or respect his father's apathy toward getting a job, and he feels like his father isn't stupid regardless of what Rick says, and could be successful if he tried. Morty V-024-E and Jerry V-024-E do not get along.

Summer:

Rick was, at one point, Summer's primary caregiver until Jerry decided he was going to start staying home to "work on his book".  They were very close, but Summer seems to have distanced herself recently. Rick and Morty don't seem surprised by this which confuses Beth and Jerry. Summer often goes on the few adventures Rick and Morty V-024-E go on.

Morty and Summer get along. They can often be found sitting quietly with each other doing school work or messing around on their phones.

Morty:

Rick adores Morty. He knows that he's lame for calling his grandson his best friend, but that's how he feels. Morty is also his gardening assistant.

Rick:

Morty thinks his Grandpa is super cool and feels like Rick is the only one that completely gets him. Rick started homeschooling Morty at some point.

As for friends,

Morty is friends with a few other Morties (lol) who don't live on the citadel. There is a Morticia, a plant Morty, and a couple others (this spot is open for anyone who wants their Morty to be friends with mine. It saves me from having to make more characters!)

Rick is only friends with the old ladies in his gardening club who think he is a lovely 'young' man. He doesn't have a BP or Squanchy.

Partners:

Morty V-024-E has a crush on Jessica V-024-E, but it has lessened since he started home school.

Rick V-024-E and Diane V-024-E divorced when Beth was between 7 and 9. Since then he has dated a few human women and a few aliens of assorted genders. He also had an *interesting* relationship with a Rick from a neighboring dimension.
