Attack on Titan Season 1 Recap (1-13)

This is for my friend @teenwithautism for she has been very busy and hasn’t seen the rest of S1 yet. So I have this up as a quick recap for her so she won’t forget.

For a hundred years, what was left of humanity were secured behind three walls, until the Colossal Titan broke a hole in Shiganshina and allowed the titans in. Eren had to watch his mother get eaten by one and vowed to kill every last Titan there is.

Eren, Mikasa and Armin later joined the training corps to learn how to become soldiers, that’s where they met new friends/comrades:

Jean, Marco, Connie, Sasha, Christa, Ymir, Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt.

All of them trained for three years until they were ready to graduate and choose their rightful regiment to join, until the Colossal Titan strikes again, this time in the Trost District. Eren, Armin and a few others attempted to kill the invading titans, only for most of them to get eaten - including Eren who saved Armin from death.

Mikasa meanwhile saved townspeople from an abnormal, had her flashback on how she met Eren, and overheard the news on Eren’s death. She was understandably depressed but continued to fight, until she discovered a titan fighting back against other titans. Her, Armin and Connie made it back towards the armoury.

The other cadets made it to the armoury as well, and took out the invading titans thanks to Armin’s great strategy. Marco then gives Jean a speech on how great of a future leader he can be despair what Jean says about himself (my boys!), then they all notice the strange titan fighting back.

After the titans were killed by it, the titan dropped only to reveal that Eren was inside it all along. Mikasa and Armin were both relieved and confused, alongside everyone else. Was it really Eren that did all of it?

Meanwhile, outside the walls, veteran scouts were busy killing titans. One of them being (the fan fav) Levi, he and his squad alongside Hange did their best to slaughter most of the hoard but ended up losing a comrade in the process.

Back at Trost, Eren woke up and was confuse why the Garrison were surrounding them. Armin and Mikasa tried to defend him but the captain Kitz demanded for Eren to be eliminated immediately, for he is a titan and he and his friends can’t be trusted.

Armin finally stood up and shouted out how Eren’s titan powers could help them retake back Trost, many of the Garrison were convinced but Kitz was too overwhelmed with fear that he still gave orders to kill them. That’s when Commander Pixis showed up.

Later, commander Pixis got everyone’s attention and shared the news of Eren’s titan powers and Armin’s plan: Eren’s titan will use the giant boulder in the city and carry it all the way to the hole in the wall and block it. Everyone was giving the order to protect Eren while he proceeds, Mikasa was assigned to the main squad to backup Eren if anything goes wrong… which of course it did.

For out of nowhere, Eren in titan form attempted to punch Mikasa. Is she okay? Of course she is, but she received a permanent scar on her cheek. While she attempted to snap Eren out of it, she punched himself which knocked himself out. The Garrison noticed this and calls the plan a failure.

Armin wouldn’t give up on his friend though. He penetrated Eren’s titan body with his blade as to get Eren to wake up - Eren himself was trapped inside his own world.

Meanwhile, everyone else of the cadets were having trouble to kill the remaining titans in the city, Jean especially. But once Eren finally snapped out of it, thanks to Armin, he lifted the giant boulder and slowly made his way towards the hole. Everyone did their best to project Eren from the titans - sadly some had lost their lives in the process. The sacrifices weren’t in vain though as Eren successfully plugged the hole in Trost, the mission was a success.

Two days later, the city was still being cleaned up from dead corpses and blood���. one of these said corpses Jean found was none other than Marco (NOOO! 😭) he had no idea how Marco ended up dead, nobody did.

Eren suddenly woke up and found himself in a jail cell, watched by Commander Erwin and Captain Levi. Erwin informed him that he’ll be taken into trial about his Titan powers but he’ll be standing for him, as he believes he can be useful for humanity’s survival. Eren had no choice but to go along with it.

Will everything turn out for the best for Eren?

Oof, I had meant for it to just be a oneshot anon, so there were no plans for a drabble. However, the messages in my inbox have been telling me otherwise.

For the sake of everyone's closure, here are some notes on what I would imagined would happen after the ending:

-After discovering what happened to Aera and Sunoo, Jungkook would feel extremely guilty. He would blame himself for the situation and be conflicted with her newly found feelings for him.

↳ Despite being with Y/N, Aera is still his childhood friend. They've shared years together, and he's been in love with her for a year.

-Jungkook would end up feeling responsible in a way, and Y/N would be very understanding. They both care for Aera, and would try to help the two of them through the hanahaki (which they luckily have time for, compared to Jungkook's restricted timeline in the oneshot). Especially after both of them had their prior painful experiences with it.

-Y/N and Aera would have a rift. She was oblivious to what exactly what going on between Jungkook and Y/N, and upon discovering her feelings, would feel hurt that Jungkook had someone else.

↳ Y/N would try to handle this rift carefully, but ultimately Aera would have a difficult time letting go of her hurt.

-Jungkook would get used by Aera. In the sense that she'll be demanding for his attention more, and he would oblige, out of friendship and guilt. Y/N would be understanding at first, but it would soon drive her into an awkward position. Eventually, her feelings would surface again and she would talk to Jungkook, bringing to light that he can't keep laying his heart down for someone who won't treat him with consideration.

-Jungkook will realize that he has a much healthier relationship with Y/N. And that despite Aera throwing up flowers, their overall relationship was still never meant to be and had always been detrimental to him.

-Jungkook and Y/N will talk and reconcile. He'll apologize for blindly following along to Aera's wishes and confess that he truly loves Y/N. He'll still want to help Aera, but by stepping out of the equation entirely and helping her realize how much Sunoo loves her.

-Aera will get over her feelings about Jungkook with time, resolving her hanahaki and ultimately, Sunoo's. Jungkook and Aera's relationship will have cracks, never being the same again. Y/N will choose to distance herself from Aera.

How to get reviews on your fanstory

Step 1: Write your fanstory.

Step 2: Come up with a brilliant title, a quintessential quotation and/or a snazzy summary for your fanstory so that people will read it. Tag your fanstory really well (if on AO3).

Step 3: Write an Author’s Note(s).

Additional Note to Step 3: Sometimes, it’s easier for readers to respond to a short Author’s Note(s) over a long fanstory even if they enjoyed your fanstory very much. That’s why it’s important to leave an Author’s Note(s).

Step 4: Kindly request that your readers leave you a review in your Author’s Note(s) with emphasis that it would mean a lot to you so they know you read their reviews and care about what they have to say.

Step 5: Ask your readers questions and talk about your thoughts and favourite parts of your fanstory in your Author’s Note(s).

Step 6: Post your fanstory, preferably on a Thursday, Friday (end of the working week) or Monday (start of the working week).

Step 7: Post about your fanstory on social media, such as Tumblr, Discord, etc. Include your title, a longer quotation and link to your fanstory. Make sure the quotation is really good but doesn’t spoil anything. Tag your post really well.

Step 8: Wait.

Step 9: Be lucky!

Step 10: Reply to reviews! Be nice and thankful. Match your readers’ energy so if a reader leaves a <3 then reply with a <3 <3 <3 and if a reader leaves a long review then reply with something equally long.

Additional Note to Step 10: Sometimes, your readers may have translated your story into their language or English may be their second language so do your best to be kind and considerate of that.

Step 11: Finally, thank your readers for reading and reviewing.

How to Make a "Keep Reading" Link in Your Posts, and Save Dashboards!

Just a reminder, for folks who might be new to Tumblr, (or for those who've been here a while and just don't understand the feature) to use a "keep reading" page break in long posts - especially in fics. Anything more than 500 words should get one. (Most people will appreciate you using one, even on fewer words.)

It can be really annoying to have to scroll through a 2-3K word fic. So, join me below the cut, if you wanna learn how to put one in, whether on the website or the app. 😊

So, if you're on the website, after you hit enter to go to a new paragraph, the following icons appear:

The one on the very end, the squiggly line between the two straight lines, is the "Keep Reading" icon. If you click that it automatically creates a link that allows the reader to click on it to continue reading if they choose. (Like the one you clicked on to bring you here! 😊)

It's a bit trickier on the app, but not much. You basically just have to type in the following command:

:readmore:

and then hit enter. When you do, it will pop up a dotted line with the word "more" in the middle of it. That will do the exact same thing, create a link for the reader to click on to continue reading. Make sure it's all lower case letters and there are no spaces between the colons (:) and the words.

Honestly, mood. Though, most of this stuff shown here is overpriced and there's cheaper options if you want something similar.

Big store brand bottle of vegetable oil, cheap Roma tomatoes, Heinz mustard, frozen fruit (whatever's cheap, it's worth it because it keeps), yellow onion is cheaper than red, why arugula when you can get bagged salad, tilapia or canned tuna if you want fish, those eggs are farm-fresh organic as only those ones tend to come in sets of six so a pack of 12 white may be cheaper, bottled lemon juice is worth it as a one time investment and it's good for months...

I 100% agree that groceries are too expensive these days. It's shit and I hate it, I still look at the fresh strawberries and yearn. I can also buy a bag of frozen strawberries for 1/3 to 2/3 of the price of a box of fresh, and you know what? The frozen ones keep much longer, I won't eat them all in one sitting, and they're better for meal prep. If you really, really need something fresh in your diet, look for alternatives. Canned fruit is still fruit. You can grow dandelions in coffee mugs of dirt if you want arugula-type greens.

There are options. You don't have to live on peanut butter and bread.

I Saw the TV Glow is such a uniquely, devastatingly queer story. Two queer kids trapped in suburbia. Both of them sensing something isn’t quite right with their lives. Both of them knowing that wrongness could kill them. One of them getting out, trying on new names, new places, new ways of being. Trying to claw her way to fully understanding herself, trying to grasp the true reality of her existence. Succeeding. Going back to help the other, to try so desperately to rescue an old friend, to show the path forward. Being called crazy. Because, to someone who hasn’t gotten out, even trying seems crazy. Feels crazy. Looks, on the surface, like dying.

And to have that other queer kid be so terrified of the internal revolution that is accepting himself that he inadvertently stays buried. Stays in a situation that will suffocate him. Choke the life out of him. Choke the joy out of him. Have him so terrified of possibly being crazy that he, instead, lives with a repression so extreme, it quite literally is killing him. And still, still, he apologizes for it. Apologizes over and over and over, to people who don’t see him. Who never have. Who never will. Because it’s better than being crazy. Because it’s safer than digging his way out. Killing the image everyone sees to rise again as something free and true and authentic. My god. My god, this movie. It shattered me.

this is a poster i made for my call to action assignment in humanities! it's a bunch of basic and easy stretches for people who sit and work at a desk all day (me)

the idea is that you'd put the poster up above ur desk and do the stretches every 30 minutes or so,, the whole routine won't take more than about 6 minutes to complete and when done regularly it can prevent wrist, shoulder, neck and back pain! :)

all these stretches can be done while sitting (although i HIGHLY recommend you stand up and move around while taking a break from working)

When Senshi was young in the dungeon the majority of the adults he were with ostracized him. All except Gillin, who died to make sure Senshi had something to eat: unseasoned boiled meat that may or may not have been one of their comrades.

It really puts into perspective why he was so nurturing towards Chilchuck. When Chil reveals he’s 28 to the party, Senshi responds by telling him that he thought he was older. Senshi was in his 30s when he and his comrades got trapped in the dungeon, so it’s safe to assume that he thought Chil was at a similar age.

He met a young boy who was, from his perspective, forced to do dangerous work in the dungeon just like he was, and so, Senshi made an effort to look after Chilchuck in the same way Gillin looked after him.

Mind you, when Senshi was young in the dungeon he had to starve for weeks, eat the horse he loved, and finish it off spending the next i don’t know how many years wondering if he committed cannibalism.

Senshi understands first hand the value of nutrition and proper eating, so when he’s with the party he makes an effort to make sure they’re all eating a full and balanced diet. Not only that, but Senshi INVOLVES them in the process of getting food to eat, always preparing it in front of them and narrating every ingredient in the process so that there’s no doubt about what they’re eating.

there has been more moments than i can count in the past seven months where i felt destroyed by all the death and carnage i've seen due to the colonialism and imperialism of the world. but there was something in particular about hind's death that made me think the world would stop turning bc how could anything continue given how gruesome and inhumane her death was? and yet, the world did not stop. and i thought we were once again left to remember her story only in our minds as she became another number, as her murderers went on killing unpunished, and as her mother grieved with rage when all she wanted was to keep her daughter warm and as safe as she could manage in this man-made hell on earth.

however, hind, a girl who only got to experience her kindergarten graduation, is now being immortalized in universities across the nation. her story did resonate to the masses and we will not let her be forgotten nor forgive those complicit in her death. real justice would be having hind alive, but these students are showing that they will stop the world and burn the status quo it upholds to the ground if it means her people can truly be liberated.
