There are other, BETTER live-action Snow White movies!
Since the new live-action Snow White movie by Disney, which I absolutely REFUSE to watch, is just around the corner, I thought I'd share this with you.
If I want a live-action movie about Snow White, there's already plenty of choices, and now I'd like to list them:
Tumblr media
Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997)
A very dark retelling of the Snow White story, with a lot of misery and death in it; instead of Dwarfs, there are seven ruffians, but they are still miners (and okay: one of them IS a little person, but still); and there's even Devil-worshipping in it, but it's still an interesting take on Snow White. And Sigourney Weaver and Sam Neill are brilliant as the Evil Queen and Snow White (named Lily in this movie)'s father respectively.
Besides, I heard that the Grimm Fairytales were originally horror stories, so I guess this is as close as we can get to a movie adaptation of the original version of Snow White's tale. Maybe old Jacob and Wilhelm would love this film too. In fact, I think they'd prefer this one over the Disney movie...
Tumblr media
Mirror Mirror (2012):
I know a lot of people thought this movie was stupid, but me? Personally, I thought it was alright. Julia Roberts was great as the Evil Queen. And the Dwarfs here reminded me of Time Bandits a little
Also, where was Peter Dinklage during the making of this movie? He throws a tantrum, when Disney wants to make a live-action Snow White, yet he was cool with this one using Dwarf actors? Or was it this movie that caused him to throw a hissy fit at the new one?
And now for my two personal favorites:
Tumblr media
Sydney White (2007):
In this more modern reimagining of the story, Snow White is a college freshman named Sydney (played by Amanda Bynes), and she helps save the house of Seven Nerdy Students (this movie's version of the Dwarfs) from being demolished by a Sorority of Mean Girls (the leader of whom is film's version of the Evil Queen)
This one is like Snow White, Revenge of the Nerds and Mean Girls rolled into one, with a hint of Animal House.
(Hope Amanda Bynes is doing well...)
And last, but not least:
Tumblr media
Snow White: The Fairest of Them All (2001):
Out of all the live-action Snow White movies, THIS is my favorite one! I love the over-all magical atmosphere, I like how the Dwarfs are depicted in this one, and I even love the cast: Miranda Richardson, Warwick Davis, Vincent Schiavelli, Clancy Brown, even Kristin Kreuk as Snow White.
In fact, I might as well watch THIS Snow White on the day the new one comes out. Or better yet: the classic animated Disney movie! Or maybe both...
How is it that I prefer a made-for-TV movie from over 20 years ago over a modern day high-budget Hollywood movie?
There! Those are my personal choices for a live-action Snow White movie, and also my recommendations.
And as for that new live-action Snow White? Yeah, I'm just gonna read the plot summary on Wikipedia and then forget about it forever...

Snow White: The Fairest of Them All (2001)
An evil witch becomes a wife and stepmother but is too obsessed with being the most beautiful in the land so seeks to destroy her new family.
It’s often refreshing to see a new spin on an old story but each successive new spin has to be more inventive which leads it further away from the classic material. This retelling is more sensitive to the shorter characters, although they still end up carrying much of the comic relief. There’s also some interesting background for the magic and an explanation as to how it all came together.
In every scene the view is over-exposed to make it look more like a fairytale, however it gets very distracting and whenever the darker elements are introduced they lose their impact because everything is far too bright and sunny. The narrative mixes together elements of a few stories which also makes it a little busy and allows the characters to essentially cheat their way out of most situations.
There’s a good range of magic abilities so there’s often something visually entertaining, even if the CGI doesn’t quite meet with any high standards. There’s little actual comedy in the film and most of it isn’t even terribly amusing apart from some of the acting which is competent, the best it gets is mildly pleasant.
Although there’s a good cast, several of the actors were underused and few got to express much range. Most of the action isn’t due to positive decision making which made it feel as though the characters were at the mercy of the narrative rather than having to actually do anything. This also made the ending underwhelming since they didn’t deliberately achieve anything.
3/10 -This one’s bad but it’s got some good in it, just there-

I love the idea of the "Disney Princess", simply because the public's idea of a Disney Princess and Disney's idea of a Disney Princess don't actually match up.
Because to the public, a Disney Princess is a type of character in Disney movies. And to Disney, "Disney Princess" is a specific brand with specific characters.
The Disney Princess brand was set up in 2001 after the head of Disney Consumer Products went to a Disney on Ice show, saw hundreds of little girls in generic princess halloween costumes, and went "Wait, why the hell don't we sell Princess dresses?"
Rather than trying to give a dozen movies, many over a decade old, their own individual marketing pushes, they come up with the overarching Disney Princess brand, and launched it featuring ten initial characters:
Snow White, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Esmerelda, and Tinkerbell.
Esmerelda was soon dropped, probably because Hunchback is a pretty dark Disney movie; and later so was Tinkerbell because they'd started production on her own line of straight-to-DVD movies, leaving the line with eight Princesses.
And now here's the clever part of the branding: when they release a new movie with a new Princess, they don't immediately fold her into the Disney Princess brand. That would cannibalise sales from the movie-specific merchandise. So they wait a year or two for merchandise sales to slow down, before having an official coronation ceremony to add the new Princess to the group.
(And presumably they cab recycle unsold merch under the Disney Princess brand.)
So Tiana got added in 2010, Rapunzel in 2012, Merida became the first Pixar entry in 2013, Moana took three years to be inducted in 2019, and the most recent is Raya in 2022.
So that's the official Disney Princess lineup: Snow White, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Moana and Raya.
Now I know what you're thinking: there's a pair of very famous names missing there.
And like I said before: they wait for the merchandise sales to slow down before bringing new characters under the umbrella. Moana seems to have been quite popular, taking three years for Disney marketing to feel comfortable folding her into the brand.
But Frozen still sells like fuckin' hotcakes, even a decade later.
So we have a funny scenario where the two most popular Disney Princesses aren't actually Official Disney Princesses because they're too popular.

"We do love those girls. we want to bring them with us. But now they have a whole new life. They can exist in our current culture, our pop culture again. It's a celebration of them. It's a rebirth." -Cameron Diaz "The good thing is, you can't harm the original image. You're never going to really take away from Sleeping Beauty or Snow White." -Julie Andrews

Just thinking of how Lucy Punch has played one of Cindrella's stepsisters in three unrelated adaptations of Cinderella.
She played Regan in the 2000 British TV version...
Tumblr media
...Hattie in 2004's Ella Enchanted...
Tumblr media
...and Lucinda in 2014's Into the Woods.
Tumblr media
Likewise, actor Martin Klebba has now played one of the seven dwarfs in three unrelated Snow White adaptations!
First he was Friday in Snow White: The Fairest of Them All in 2001...
Tumblr media
...then Butcher in 2012's Mirror, Mirror...
Tumblr media
...and now he's the voice of Grumpy in Disney's 2025 remake.
Tumblr media
It's very interesting when this happens.

DP x DC Prompt ALT #04
This is an alternate version of my original prompt # 04, so it isn't a continuation of the last one (sorry guys :<) This one is just based on the TV series of the Justice League at their very beginnings of the animated series (2001-2004).
______________________________________________________________
Space Eldritch Deity Danny
The newly formed Justice League has envisioned a magnificent future OPCenter, built upon colossal blueprints, for their upcoming space station. This stunning structure will be positioned in orbit, strategically away from any other government satellites, ensuring seamless operation. As its fixed rotation will be following Earth's natural magnetic orbit 24/7.
After completing their preparations and getting ready to relocate the newly constructed watchtower, the Green Lantern Corps suddenly found themselves amidst a formidable disturbance that violently shook the earth. Instantly, they assumed defensive positions, their eyes fixed on a void-like anomaly in the sky, steadily advancing towards them. A mysterious, black figure emerged from the depths of the sky, revealing a captivating form. Within its body, a myriad of stars and constellations twinkled, nestled in its chest. Its clawed hands stood out, glistening in a radiant white, as though one were gazing upon the brilliance of the sun. A majestic, snow-white silky mane decorated its head, crowned with an icy crown, while dark horns added a touch of intrigue and macabre. The face of this enigmatic being lay concealed beneath an otherworldly blackness, heightening its aura of mystique, leaving only the mesmerizing glow of its hazardous green eyes visible.
"Why are you moving those to space?" The creature's screeching voice echoed as it leaned forward, posing an inquiry that perplexed everyone. Despite Green Lantern's attempt to communicate, his ring failed to decipher the enigmatic language. The entire Justice League stood in awe and veiled, holding their breath as they beheld this unsettling Lovecraftian entity.
"Why do such things? Have you asked me if I will permit it?"
“Wait hold on! Blimmey studd!! I might found a solution” cursed Constantine being the one to be there when the creature appeared; quickly doing some sigils and spells to make the creature speak the language of the living, grunted “now, come on big fella what do you want”
"Why have you trashed my domain, isn't earth enough for you humans?" The voice of the creature intones, making the Justice League members shiver at the potency of the words as it spoke with such divinity and pressure "have you asked me if I would allow it?" It asked again, anger now in it's voice, a wisp of cold air and pressure onto them as it moved closer.
"Ask and you shall receive, for I Phantom, Lord of the Dead, King of the Infinite Realms, Lord of Space and Infinity"
"Well shit" curses Constantine, a cold shiver in his spine "we are royalty fuck"

once upon a timeline
okay so i've been obsessed with ouat recently with my rewatch and i was looking into Henry's weird ass family tree and oh my god i need to put this out there because why.
for starters i've only included big plot points or villains and main characters etc so none of the side plots but also i've realised how weird some of the age gaps are.
oh yeah also ouat likes to fuck with their timelines and historical context so i have gone with the basic dates that make sense based on what the characters in the show actually say.
the dates are what they would be in the real world not in ouat logic.
pre-main timeline
Ancient Greece - zeus and hades happen (season 6)
ancient greece but later - orpheus and Euridice and pandora's box happen
between 400-500AD - the Holy Grail and Merlin and Nimue
1650's-1660's - Mother Gothel leaves the new land without magic
1770- Malcolm is Born
1804- Rumplestiltskin is born, Malcolm is 34
1808- Rumple is abandoned, Peter Pan becomes a fae trickster tumblr meme
1845- Baelfire is born, Rumple is 41
1859- Bae arrives in england, Rumple is 55
1947- Zelena is born and abandoned
1948- Cora and Rumple have their weird affair
1949- Regina is born
1955- Snow White is born
1973- Regina sends the huntsman after snow, Snow is 18, Regina is 24
23/3/1977 - Neal (Bae) chooses this as his fake birthday
22/10/1983 - Emma is born, the curse is cast
1991 - Neal escapes neverland and comes back to the land without magic
15/8/2001 - Henry is born, Emma is 18, Neal Cassidy is 24
22/10/2011 - Emma arrives in Storybrooke
13/5/2012 - The curse is broken.
so some of the dates are based on when episodes aired and things such as when the curse breaks and when emma arrives in storybrooke. other dates are based on easter eggs in the show like Neal's birthday. so i realised that Neal had to have landed back in the real world in 1991 because he was 14 when he got to neverland and obviously didn't age so working backwards those dates make sense.
however... emma was 17 when she got pregnant with henry and at best Neal is 24 but at worst he's 156 years old! i mean what the fuck. and he has to be that old because he tells Emma that technically "I should be a couple hundred by now" (2,15). so at the oldest he can be with Neal's Once upon a time maths education the earliest he can be born is 1845 because big ben isn't built until 1859 which is the absolute earliest that he can be in old england.
the rest of the dates i managed from working backwards from when the curse was broken and cast and from small things the characters say. In the first episode of season 2, Emma says that her and Mary Margaret were the same age which means that the 10 year war she has with regina that ended with the curse started when she was 18.
so what i've found from this is that Henry's family tree back to his paternal great grandad literally spans hundreds of years. the average life span for these fuckers is about 100. basically they're a family of elves and you can't convince me otherwise.

I hope you enjoy.
THAT MORNING
...
During a winter morning on 11 January 2001, a phenomenon of unknown origin was sighted and documented around the world, which, upon further investigation, would be named "The First Baptism".
Several days before the event, sudden changes in temperature had been observed, decreasing alarmingly, but finally stabilizing the night before, during which it snowed, however, the weather forecast had already informed the public of the possibility of more snowfall during the remainder of the week and that hail showers were not ruled out.
11 January, 8:00 AM
It was snowing again; classes had been cancelled, but there were children in the streets. playing, people were late for work.
While mortals went about their business, the nations observed from their offices, homes, gardens, wherever they were, the occurrences of the peculiar day, some with surprise, some with satisfaction, and a few with childlike wonder.
And then, as soon as the clock struck the hour, it happened.
9:00 AM
What had begun as a quiet morning turned into a snowstorm, which the witnesses described as the heaviest of their lives, and when they looked up into the sky, their eyes could focus enough on the middle of the blizzard; they saw, amidst all the whiteness, a huge line stretching across the heavens. All describe seeing the same line; some say they believed it was caused by the wake turbulence of a plane or something similar, or that their eyesight deceived them, which was proved to be untrue, as the line in the sky began to "open up," now being described as an "incision" in the sky, a wound, which opened its maw and poured over the cities and them. inhabitants, its contents.
… One of the soldiers pierced his side with a lance (λόγχη), and immediately there came out blood and water.
John 19:34
The contents were black particles, which tainted the snow, causing it to change colour. to a dark jet, and for the next half hour, the wound in the sky continued to fester, and the cities were covered by thick blankets of dark snow.
The black snowfall, nowadays known as The First Baptism, lasted for the course of a week. During which time the world was brought to a complete standstill due to the possibility of side effects from exposure to the phenomenon.
Initially it was thought that the possible cause were black coal emissions, but this was quickly ruled out as no black carbon was found after samples were analyzed.
Everything seemed to be trapped, frozen in time, all except for the fine flakes falling to the earth because of gravity.
And the immortals were the most affected, acting like statues; they remained in the same position ever since, with their feet stuck in the ground as if they had taken root, immobile except for their lips, eyes, and small involuntary movements of their hands.
People close to them, such as their bosses or assistants, describe the immortals being suddenly drawn to the dark snow from day one, leaving their homes, abandoning work, looking up with lost eyes and expressionless faces, stretching out their arms trying to reach whatever flakes they could between their fingers, removing parts of the clothing for better contact with the snow and breathing rapidly, they were described as out of their minds, babbling unintelligible words.
When attempts were made to convince them to go back inside, they did not respond. And if attempts were made to force them inside, they became violent, so to prevent the situation from escalating further, it was decided to allow them to stay that way.
This was until the seventh day.
Where, inexplicably, every nation moved towards their capitals abnormally fast.
It was not so common these days to observe them using any of their supernatural qualities, let alone without any warning.
Although there are records of these mobilizations, there are few reports of the concrete actions of the immortals, as the capitals had been the areas most affected by the storm, and despite attempts to observe closely what they did there, it was impossible to get close enough to discern, and they were lost from sight.
That is, with about three exceptions that were much later made available to the public and other nations.
The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and Great Britain.
Washington D.C. America could be seen heading towards the White House in the middle of the storm, and once he arrived at the North Lawn, he stopped moving, with the use of a camera it was possible to observe his face closer, he was observed with had a manic expression and seemed to have say something.
Moscow Russia was spotted in the red square along General Winter, who was described as "Odd," and unlike America, he wandered around the area for several minutes, running around like a madman, until he crossed his gaze with the tomb of the unknown soldier, at which point he ceased his activity and calmed down.
No information was provided on the specific location of the event.
England interrupted his journey midway, being drawn to sources of water, plunging into a semi-frozen river, he was quickly rescued.
No other reports are available for the other cases due to a lack of information.
