Bird over Wy鈥檈ast...
I stand corrected, so shall correct this post. According to @ajomagurd, Wy鈥檈ast is an extremely pervasive myth, and there are few sources for its actual name. (Source: https://www.columbian.com/news/2017/jun/11/anthropologist-dispelling-myths-with-plankhouse-talk/) They told me they recently came across a few sources that said its name in Kiksht is Agakapkaps, and in Molalla it is n铆fti y谩ngint (meaning big mountain). Sources for those: https://youtu.be/-vkIkdcIa0E?si=0cbTxfOBAnX0koY4 https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/opencollection/objects/340
If anyone has more information on this, or any of the native names of the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, I would love to hear from you. With sources, of course. Mine is not a huge blog, but I would prefer to spread what little info I have accurately. Thank you! And thank you for looking at my photos. <3

Exploring the Mountains of Nepal: A Mountaineering Adventure
Nepal, home to some of the world's highest peaks, is a haven for mountaineers seeking thrilling adventures amidst stunning landscapes. With its towering mountains, rugged terrain, and rich cultural heritage, Nepal offers a unique and unforgettable experience for those with a passion for mountaineering.
Tumblr media
Mountaineering in Nepal is an exhilarating journey that attracts adventurers from all corners of the globe. From the iconic peaks of the Himalayas to lesser-known summits, there is no shortage of challenges awaiting climbers in this breathtaking country.
One of the most renowned destinations for mountaineering in Nepal is the Everest region. Here, climbers can attempt to summit the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, or opt for less daunting but equally rewarding climbs such as Island Peak or Lobuche East. The journey to Everest Base Camp alone is an adventure in itself, offering stunning views of the Khumbu Valley and opportunities to immerse oneself in Sherpa culture.
Another popular region for mountaineering is the Annapurna range, known for its diverse landscapes and panoramic vistas. Climbers can tackle peaks like Annapurna I, the tenth highest mountain in the world, or opt for more accessible climbs such as Pisang Peak or Chulu East. Along the way, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, lush forests, and traditional mountain villages.
For those seeking a truly off-the-beaten-path experience, the remote regions of Nepal offer countless opportunities for exploration and adventure. From the towering peaks of the Makalu region to the rugged terrain of the Manaslu Circuit, these lesser-known areas provide a sense of solitude and tranquility amidst some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth.
But mountaineering in Nepal is not without its challenges. Climbers must contend with high altitudes, unpredictable weather, and demanding terrain. Proper training, preparation, and acclimatization are essential for a successful ascent, as is the guidance of experienced Sherpa guides who possess invaluable knowledge of the mountains.
Despite the challenges, the rewards of mountaineering in Nepal are immense. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit, the breathtaking views from high above, and the camaraderie forged with fellow climbers are experiences that will stay with adventurers for a lifetime.
In conclusion, mountaineering in Nepal offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on the planet. Whether scaling the heights of Everest or exploring lesser-known peaks, the journey is sure to be filled with adventure, challenge, and unforgettable memories.
