So these are just some general head canons I have for Snape when he's in a relationship. Enjoy! (feedback welcome)

he is very into acts of service

since he cannot voice how he feels very well he just shows you

and it's not that he can't get the words out honestly, he just feels like they don't sound right

and for him it's too up front

if he ever is telling you he loves you, he might appear to be looking you in the eyes, but he is actually staring in between them

or at your forehead or anywhere but your eyes, and he's just praying you won't notice honestly

he quite likes quality time too

anything together and he eats it up

he likes not having to go about his mundane takes alone anymore, after having to for so long and now he finally has someone he just likes it

he's also not accustomed to physical touch

you would think the man has never even been brushed up against in his life

it takes him some warming up to but once he is warmed up to it he is not keen on letting you out of his arms

or anywhere far from him, he needs you to keep him warm

he generally runs very cold, and he needs you there to keep him warm

he gets upset if you have something to do and half the time he will get huffy and just help you do it or take over and do it himself if he can just to get you back to him quicker

he can get quite possessive

honestly it borders in criminal

the man would lock you up if he could,(in a friendly way ofc (if that's a thing)) but he knows he couldn't possibly keep you in good health with his long absences when he has to go to Hogwarts to teach

he likes music a lot

and he will sit you down some night and make you listen to the entirety of his vinyl collection

and unless you pass out or manage to get freaky with him, which is much harder when he's focused, you cannot get out of this

he likes to share things that make him happy in attempt to make you happy

so this also means when you've had a bad day or your crying he will try and get you to make potions with him or admire different vinyl's or anything he cares about

and it might be endearing if you weren't already upset but like come on man

however that voice...

if your the type to just sleep when your upset it works out great because his voice is so...

Story time: I got into Harry Potter fandom only because my roommate would not stop talking about it.

So while she isn't a snater she also doesn't love him. For her he is how a Hogwarts student views him- mean potions professor.

That being said I got into this fandom because I was bored in Covid. Basically I was blind reacting and didn't know much details except for names of a few characters.

What I'm trying to say is that-

I DON'T KNOW WHY SNAPE IS THE FIRST GUY I FELL IN LOVE WITH OK?!!

Honestly I miss the person I used to be now there is not a day I don't think about dancing with him and just getting to hold him.

Friendly reminder that Snape actually believed Sirius, Remus, and James were in on the werewolf prank and that they all tried to kill him. He believed his bullies were all capable of murder for nearly two decades and had only found out it was just Sirius during the Shrieking Shack scene in Prisoner of Azkaban.

So when you keep this in mind while looking at Snape going to Dumbledore to protect the Potters, remember that Snape thought James had tried to kill him at least once and didn’t care whether he lived or died. I’ve seen a lot of antis criticising him for only seeming to care about Lily because he asked Voldemort to spare only her, but many forget that 1. Harry was 100% going to die, Snape couldn’t ask his Master to not kill the main reason he’s going to the Potters in the first place, that’s a stupid idea. 2. Snape thought James had no problem with killing him (not just not caring if he died, he thought James was actually okay with killing Snape himself) — even putting aside everything else James and Co did to Snape, why would Snape want him to live?

Yet after all that, Snape went to Dumbledore to protect the Potters even though Voldemort had already agreed to spare Lily (the one whose death would break him), showing that he put aside his hatred of James and—to some extent—wanted Lily’s loved ones to be safe as well as Lily. We already know Lily’s happiness meant a lot to Snape, seeing as he automatically never bothered her again once she told him to leave her life after the incident in SWM. But going to Dumbledore, who could’ve easily killed him, in order to secure Lily’s protection would mean to protect the man who—as far as Snape knew—tried to kill him and an infant he never met, even after Voldemort already agreed to do what he wanted (and we see he actually tried to keep his promise, seeing as he gave Lily a choice to step aside, unlike James).

"Ger therapy" is the new "You need Jesus": One Weirdo's Navigation through Cultural Shame

This is a supposedly well-meaning sentiment that is often weaponized against people who are behaving outside of perceived cultural norms. It's a favorite of homophobes who see queerness/transness as a mental illness, but I've been seeing it used to demonize kink (which historically is often linked to queerness), and more generally any "weird" behavior that makes people uncomfortable.

For example, otherkin, systems (especially those with fictives), and people who take fictional characters as partners. Y'know, "weirdos" who "can't separate reality from fiction." And, sure, sometimes there can be a problem with that distinction, but I know as well as you that most internet strangers saying "get therapy" don't actually give a shit about the mental health of those they target. It's code for "your behavior makes me uncomfortable, stop it."

Same sentiment as "you need Jesus."

This has actually taken me a long time to figure out. I've been in therapy for my entire adult life, working through various traumas, severe depression, anxiety, all that. Those were the biggest problems as they negatively impacted, and often endangered, my life. It was only after my hospitalization in 2020, where I was finally put on much needed medication, that I could start to grow into myself.

I changed my name. I top surgery. I came out as polyamorous. I finally got my official autism diagnosis. Now I'm fuckin' married! But... there are still things I'm working through in therapy. Mainly, shame over my "weirder" behaviors. My current therapist has been a huge blessing in helping me accept the things I was too ashamed to admit.

Now, I feel comfortable enough to share.

I'm otherkin. Always have been. My connection to my humanity is tenuous, and I'm sure that's connected to my autism. When mad, I feel phantom horns sprouting from my forehead. I have a tail that swishes back and forth at the base of my spine. In my soul, I am monstrous, and years of therapy has not erased that.

I feel like I'm only half in the physical world most of the time. This doesn't hinder my real-world success (I graduated college Summa Cum Laude, have an IMDB page, and am on my third book), but informs the way I look at the world. There's a whole other universe in my head that hums along with me in my day-to-day. That's part of why I'm so skilled as a writer. To ask me to divorce from that is to tell me to stop existing. Sorry, it's how I've always operated.

Lastly, and this is the one I'm really anxious about, I have a fictional husband. Now, looking at my blog, you might say "yeah, no shit," but I don't just ship myself with him. I mean I practice pop-culture Witchcraft, and the Goblin King is my patron. I mean I have a Labyrinth-themed tarot deck that I talk to him with. I mean I held a ritual to spiritually marry him. Basically, I Snape-wived myself.

And guess what? My therapist isn't concerned. It's not hurting my ability to live my life. I have other interests, hobbies, and goals outside of him, which he actively encourages in all our tarot sessions! I wouldn't be doing this if he didn't support me. My IRL spouse is usually there for whatever magical shit I'm doing, and supports me! Some of my closest friends know, and the only complaint I've gotten is "this guy seems important to you, I wish you told me sooner." Hell, my MOTHER knows and supports me, which is huge, because our relationship was pretty damaged after I came out as trans.

If you have a problem with the way I live my life, when literally nobody else does, take a good long look at why. You don't give a fuck about my mental health. You just don't like that I'm weird.

Tl;dr: My mental health is better than it's ever been since embracing the weird, so leave me and my imaginary husband Marak Sixfinger alone.
