Update on watching thw LotR movies for the first time! Just finished the Two Towers and omg????? Very good movie. I know I'm 20 years late to the party but oh my what a party it is! Sat the last hour with a hand clutched over my chest and only recognized it towards the end. Had the Song Rohirim by Feuerschwanz blaring in my head from the moment Eomer met Aragon and company and ahhhhhh when he and the riders appear at the battle of Helmdeep and charge down that mountainside! Led by Gandalf and his white horse friend!!!! I am so giddy oh my god. And the Ents wrecking Isenguard!!!!!!!!! My heart felt so much lighter!!! Am I mistaking or was there an Ent song that wasnt in the movie? Maybe I'm misremembering a post I saw years ago hmm....

But !!!!!! So excited to watch the next movie tomorrow!

Gosh, I'm sorely due for a lotr rewatch. So many things went wrong the first time.

-It took me a year between the 1st and 2nd movie

-I watched all extended editions, except I had to keep pausing because I didn't have time to watch them in one go

-I watched them with my dad, but we'd watch them over dinner, so we were busy eating for a lot of it

-After dinner, we normally went on walks, but for the movies we'd walk in the living room. Meeting I missed half the damn movie because I was walking and facing away from the screen.

-We'd end up watching them late into the night, meaning I'd fall asleep or be too tired to pay attention.

So...I've got a strange relationship with these movies, but what I remember I loved.

Going to the cinemas to see Return of the King with my Dad, who dressed me in a 'mithril shirt', when it first came out was one of my earlier memories of going to the movies. I remember not making it all the way through and falling asleep (it started at 9pm, and I was 8 years old).

I adore the extended editions. Definately worth the rewatch, no matter how many days it takes 😤👌.

I also remember this guy, and falling desperately in love:
