When they have phone calls as teens Both of them lay on their beds kicking their legs and twirling their fingers in the telephone wire and talk to each other forever like girlfriends loll

They go to prom together and along with dressing up, Orel either gets a fancy cane special for the occasion or snazzes up his normal one

Clay and Poppit also get weirdly excited for their respective children about prom and they help them get ready and Blorberta is like "thats nice" but Art is like "should she really be going with this boy, she could get into drugs or alcohol or she could lose her virginity or blah blah whatever she should be going with girlfriends or even better, not at all" wnd Poppit's just like thats nice Art, anyway what color dress do you want sweetie (not that she cares about her because she's Christina's Clay but she just likes pretending shes a good parent in big moments)

Aight, lemme tell you this: You better be "just" sick or feeling down because it´s simply a shitty day for ya. Because if someone else was responsible for your state? Yeah...good luck to that person. And to you for the sheer impossible feat of trying to contain three raging bulls.

Right so, I´ll start with the most obvious one:

Irina Denali aka Big Mama

I mean...it´s in the name. She´s mama. She´s got a natural instinct to nourish and preen and coddle. She´s the one I consider the most maternal out of the sisters, so she will know what to do instantly.

Depending on your woe, she will swarm you with blankets and meds and soup and chocolate and cuddles ofc, can´t forget those. One of the many perks of dating a vampire: You can cuddle (or smooch, in Tanya´s case) as much as you want without getting your partner sick too. ✅

She´ll be your ear if you need to vent about how absolutely dreadful your day was. She´ll be your shoulder if the need to cry it all out becomes too overwhelming. She´ll be your cooling pad if you´re down with a bad fever. Whatever you need in that moment, she´ll provide it for you.

I think Tanya would feel extremely torn between the need, and the instinct to care for you. Like, ofc as your girlfriend/wife/mate there´s this need and desire to protect and care for you. She´s similar to Irina, in that aspect. Always ready to get you anything you might need or want, always ready to swarm you with love and affection. Anything to make her dove feel nice and cozy.

But then there´s the fact she´s also the coven leader, and that comes with its very own set of instincts. At least that´s how I like to imagine it. As a leader, she has a natural instinct to protect and, more importantly, to provide for the members of her coven. Those instincts go through the roof in trying times.

...Such as her smol hooman being sick/in poor condition. She´s experiencing double the pressure to care for you - both as your mate AND as a leader. She´ll be torn between laying down with you and being up and about to find things to, well, provide you with. You know how a dog will find all kinds of toys and plonk! them in its tiny human´s lap? Not quite knowing what will satisfy the smol human, but damn willing to try anyway? That´s kinda how it is for Tanya, lol.

One minute she will be cuddling with you, the next minute she´s up to search for stuff to bring you. She´s kinda interfering with her own care, lol. It´s as hilarious as it is exhausting, especially when her tiny human wants nothing more than to have those strong arms wrapped around her.

I mean...she´s putting in real effort, she really is. It´s actually quite adorable. She´ll be fussing about, frantic hand waving and all, as she flits from room to room in search of...something. Anything, really. She feels overwhelmed because her instincts are screaming at her, but it´s like she´s running on the wrong frequency. She´s made for fighting and worshipping, not nursing.

As your mate though, she´s eager to please and damn determined to win this battle.

...She´ll ask Irina or Tanya for guidance first, though. Probs Irina because it´s the lesser blow to her ego. And also because her little sister is such a Mom as it is, it´s like she´s got it etched in her DNA or something. However, she struggles quite a bit with actively seeking help. Opinions on Nathan Shelley? I think he’s a way more interesting character than people give him credit for and I think the fandom goes way harder on him for his actions than they do on say, Jamie or Rebecca. probably because with Jamie we only see him suck shit and then improve throughout the show but with Nate we get the whole arc. Anyways I’m rotating him in my head microwave sound mmmmmm

I like Nate a lot! I wrote a fairly lengthy post a while back about how him and Ted misunderstood each other throughout season 2. This being tumblr, I can't find that post anymore, but yes. Nate Shelley. Big fan. I love me an insecure, highly intelligent, sensitive nelly who gets one taste of power and accidentally lets it corrupt him. I like a character who has grown used to kindness and respect being expected from him, but never given. I like a little guy whose struggle is that he learns what he thinks is self-respect but is actually just a new form of self-hatred. I like a smol bean who eventually realizes that actually, the kindness was one of the parts of himself he did like, and he has to learn how to do it all over again without falling back into bad habits. I like a gifted kid who never succeeded until he did, but then still didn't know how not to be a disappointment. And I love love love characters who play violins. One of my top weaknesses, that.

Shame the didn't do anything thrilling with his story though. Messy season 3 plot, and way too divorced from the other characters. I did eventually grow to love his girlfriend (once they gave her dialogue that wasn't canned from the box), but honestly I didn't need the focus of it.

Nate's conversation with his dad, while cathartic, didn't feel earned from a directorial perspective. I think even showing us a little bit of his dad cracking in some of the earlier scenes with him would've spoken volumes to get the audience there. Like, I see how it happened, but I didn't see it happen, you know?

Nate and Beard and the loaf of meth? Excellent. 10/10.

The fact that after that initial scene of Nate as a coach we never see him interact with any of the West Ham players again? Booooooo. Missed opportunity. Especially given that West Ham was actually successful throughout his tenure. That could've been interesting parallel to Ted's tenure as a coach at Richmond - the coach who is successful at the game but not necessarily the players vs the coach who is successful with the players but not necessarily the game.

(Yes, I think the football show needed more football.)

Instead we got scenes with Nate and the higher ups at West Ham, who are all some version of worse than him, and while that highlighted how much Nate didn't fit in there, it didn't serve him much in terms of narrative growth.

Oh, and then the finale kind of forgot about him and handwaved the rest of his story. But the finale forgot about a lot of things and then handwaved the rest of the story.

But back to your original question- Nate Shelley? Very interesting character.

you were so cute. seriously. you were small and you'd always dress up in her oversized hoodies and it was the cutest thing ever but when the warm weather rolled around, you couldn't help but change your style.

you two hadn't gone past just kissing at this point so when jisoo walked in on you changing she couldn't help but internally squeal and cover her eyes with her hands, sometimes peeking through. that cute notion she had of you was thrown out the window as she saw your body. you were so toned. way more than she thought you were. the rest of the day, her mind was filled with bad thoughts of you. horrible thoughts. lustful thoughts and she'd hoped you wouldn't be able to tell.

jennie absolutely adored you. at the mere sight of you, she could come down from anything. you were just so small and cute that she thought you couldn't even hurt a fly. until you proved her very wrong.

when the two of you were out on a casual walk, you could't help but notice the group of people eyeing your girl down. hooting and cat calling as if she was an object. jennie was fine dealing with it. it happened to her almost everyday but you couldn't. she watched you quickly let go of her hand as you stomped over, fists clenched as you told them off.

you were small. well... not small per se but you were shorter than she was and by that categorization, she'd call you small. she loved how she could be the big spoon in the relationship but her entire mindset changed when she caught you working out.

the way the sweat dropped down your body as you were doing your workouts made her feel things. it highlighted and accentuated your features even more and you weren't weak at all contrary to whatever previous thoughts she had of you before. you were lifting... heavy. insanely heavy for someone of your stature.

she will probably never admit it but she wish those hands of yours lifting the weights were grabbing her instead. gripping her. groping her. doing unspeakable acts only you and her knew about. she wanted you to absolutely fucking rai- (i'm not finishing this. interpret this how you will)

the two of you were an infamous couple. while she was the main dancer of a world renowned group, you were off doing your own thing teaching others how to dance in your own studio. but a big pet peeve you had was when your soon to be newbie students thought you were a fellow student alongside them because of your small size. it pained you so.

so you had decided to hold a little performance for all of them just to really show them who their teacher would be alongside your beautiful and very talented girlfriend lisa. you two practiced day and night to hold the best performance you could even if it was just a demonstration and there was just this one part lisa was worried about. the part where you had to completely pick her up and put her above your head.

she couldn't think that you'd be able to do it until you actually did. you picked her up right of her feet and she was flailing around screaming to not let her fall but despite it all you two did a pretty bang up job. she truly saw you in a whole new light after that.
