#thousands of people have had to evacuate and homes have been burned down#rly the mood is 'lol canada is burning' and like#i never heard people make jokes like this about fires in california#i've been living with wildfire smoke every summer for at least 10 years lol like. i don't have AC but i do have an air purifier#idk why i am opinionated today but i am#also i literally just had to shut all my doors and windows bc we have wildfire smoke coming in#also one more thing to add: the folks most affected by evacuation orders are indigenous communities

Was hoping to maybe get out and about today, but there's a severe air quality warning and my throat is already raw so I guess I'm hiding inside instead lol

bro we had this issue all of last winter where the smell of cigarette smoke would be in our bathroom and house but it went away in the summer. but its BACK!!!! DIE!!!!

#i haven't started looking in earnest yet but like#this weekend has been Bad in the apartment filled with downstairs neighbors' smoke department#and im considering my options#because moving is not in the budget until like summer 2024#but the like residual covid lung issues are so so aggravated and i have cats???? long term if my apartment is going to fill w smoke#every time the neighbors have their exhaust fans on#that's not great.#going to have to baseline invest in a serious business air purifier but thats not in the budget for this month#probably where my tax return's going.#instead of all the other places it was gonna go

jokes aside i really hope those out towards canada are staying safe because horrible air quality is no joke and can absolutely be fatal to those with weaker lungs as well as those with cardiovascular issues. i have an intense phobia of wildfires because of the extremely traumatic ones i have lived through living in socal. my apartments have nearly burned down, and we just narrowly avoided losing our house by a hair to a wildfire last summer. i know it will not be the wealthy being impacted the most.
#if you are in the affected areas either in or around canada and you smoke and/or vape for the love of god#try to at least limit the amount of smoking you are doing if you can manage.#+ try to look into either investing in an air purifier or even try your hand at making one (homemade ones are just as effective.)#make sure to limit the time spent outdoors if possible and keep all windows shut#if you Do go out wear a mask. that has saved me from so many asthma attacks.

it's like the world's worst irony that secondhand smoke is worse for u than actually smoking. it seems unfair and only contributes to more smokers in the world making others put up with their shitty fucking habit
#some neighbors are smoking and i just had to spend $200 on an air purifier#for while this issue is resolved bc the property manager is taking fucking forever#to deal with this#she finally sent out an email two weeks after i made a complaint#and only bc i told her i am going to start calling the front desk and sending emails every time#i get even the slightest whiff of smoke in the hallway#i don't think i could actually afford to go thru legal nonsense but i'm hoping i can at least bluff and work smthn out#it just makes me so mad. they could smoke in the balcony and i would be entirely unaffected#but smoking inside is just gross as hell
