Week 34 - #petitfour
Yes, there is definitively a pattern here! Awakening in my hospital bed, I did not even bother to check the calendar. Guided by the hunger that had become my constant companion, and my usual curiosity, I headed straight for the exit of this enigmatic institution. My expectations were high, considering the delightful draconic delicacies that had awaited me outside for the past three times. And indeed, once more, a sweet bliss welcomed me outside. Yet nothing could have prepared me for this most wondrous sight. This week there was not only one, but an entire group of dragons. I supposed they were fey dragons, judging by their appearance and being smaller than my previous saviours. Each featured a unique design, yet everyone appeared as amazing and delicious as the next dragon. Using their magnificent wings, they were dancing just outside my reach. I concluded I needed to write this report to you. Once finished, they hopefully would feed me as their brethren did. Therefore, I will stop now and get my treats, as I can see them finally closing in on me.

Smaugust 4 - Draco saturnia
Last month I asked people to send me some of their favorite animals/plants/minerals. I'm now dragonizing the items on that list for Smaugust art prompts, attempting to draw one a day through the entire month.
This dragon is inspired by Saturnia pavonia, a moth of the British Isles. I went with a body plan inspired by dragons in European medieval art as homage to the moth's native range.

Smaugustfell2022 - Day 9 - SWAMP
A bright morning, the god of the rivers raises his wing to block the sun for the farmer hes watching work.
Not exactly a swamp, but the deltas of Anemoi flood into fields and are cultivated for rice. The culture of the Deltas is not significantly different then the mountain ranges, but they do have an interesting relationship with their god. Susurro is actually a fairly young god, only having been born after his father, Exitiums revival. Susurro is very involved in the lives of his worshippers, and is co-worshipped by them with the God of Anemoi, Pinna as well as both of their mothers, Rryme, Goddess of the ocean.
The Deltas have been fought over by Ishida and Anemoi both through war in the past, and through land deals. If you were to ask a Delta though, they would consider themselves their own people; especially now with their own god at their side.
Susurro, being a young god is still learning much about being a god; and spends a lot of his time watching his people or sometimes generally being in the way by lazing about the rivers, the flood fields and the tide pools closer to the coast.

“Under”
Even more so than sauropods, dragons are ecosystems unto themselves. Their carnivorous habits leave them crawling with particles of blood, flesh, and the microorganisms that will feed on them. Which, in turn, provides food for countless insects. Others choose to do what few legendary heroes can boast and slowly eat and kill the dragons.
Pictured here parasitizing a blue dragon: a giant tick, a mosquazo (relative of the mosquito adapted to finding tiny chinks in dragon scales, along with minor elemental resistance), dragon barnacles (parasitic snails), and a small lightning elemental prolonging its energy body by stealing the elemental power from the unsuspecting tyrant.
Kobolds are more than just household guards.

Though colloquially called the Bark-winged Birdsnatcher, the most common prey items of this little dragon are the fingers of unsuspecting entomologists.

Lovely and Terrible Creatures: A Collection of Dragon Poetry
For the truly daring out there, venture into the world of the loveliest and terrible creatures: dragons. Written a poem a day throughout the month of dragons (Smaugust, also known as August), this collection of thirty-one poems explores the beauty, humor, terror, and tragedy of these great beasts of legend.
I finally edited my Smaugust poems and slapped them together into a pretty ebook! Only the basic Ko-fi $3 for cleaner poems than I posted (and you can still check out) here on @revenantpoet, plus a bonus poem, clocking in at over 7k words for all 31 poems. :D Thank you so much to anyone who considers supporting or sharing, it means a ton!!!
