This bathroom serves both a master bedroom and a visiting child. Rather than build two separate bathrooms, resources were combined to make the bathroom as beautiful as possible.

rosekiller but it’s evan who brings barty food back from his trips home that he would never eat himself. he goes home for the weekend and comes back with a trunk full of sweets he would not touch with a ten feet pole to watch barty eat them
#he is lugging into the dorm and leaving it open on the floor like you would to lure in a stray cat#he’s scoughing at regulus’ teases of him being homesick at his grown age#while watching barty like a hawk as he gourges on fizzy jelly’s#this is what i did in boarding school! whoever got out brought back €80 worth of sweets and we would have a big feast#sometimes we would also get small little bottles of vodka and cigarettes so it would be the strangest night of chocolate cake in sinks and#falling out of bathroom windows#marauders#hp#harry potter#rosekiller#barty crouch junior#evan rosier

this month is really making me feel like a homeowner in the most mundanely stressful ways
I have to replace my toilet because it's falling apart, but it's so old that we have to find one that will fit, and then we have to adjust the connections (thankfully my dad knows how to do this)
my parents are getting a new washing machine so I will be inheriting theirs (this is how I got my stove)
the friends selling my parents their washing machine are also getting rid of their dryer, so I get a lightly-used dryer for cheap (the sensor on mine died so I can only use the time setting)
my mother is once again critiquing my house's siding (it's wood. and we painted it in the middle of a cold snap in March four years ago before I even bought the house so the inspector would quit pitching a fit)
she also has big plans for re-configuring my driveway
and she wants to know when the township will finally fill the hole in the off-street parking area (it now has its own biome)
my dad may be swapping my lawnmower with his so I can quit getting mildly zapped every time I turn mine off via pulling the spark plug (I mowed on Sunday. it ran out of gas with three passes left. my lawn looks so stupid but we're under a flood watch and I will not be mowing until...later)
thankfully the water heater, furnace, windows, and roof are all quite new and/or in working condition!
#this poor silly house#I love it to bits and it is falling to bits#I just need to work up the energy to take care of it a little better than I've been doing#I have a short list of things I need to take care of before August (replace four-to-six blinds with cordless blinds so we can actually use#the blinds since Blythe methodically ate all of the cords and my face destroyed the only cordless set in the house)#I need to shampoo the grungy carpet#the front garden beds have been a blight since the beginning but I don't have the energy for them#same with the gutters and downspouts which sorely need fixing but it's them or new tierods for my car#I also want better insulation in the attic. this is a straightforward process (I've helped blow in insulation before) but $$#and Mom casually pointed out that we could tear out the kitchen carpet and slap down linoleum for nothing#('but the whole floor is warped and cracked.' 'it's fine. linoleum will stick to that')#'I don't want your house. it's old and small and we don't want to stay in Michigan forever. btw here's all of the improvements we can make'#also I would love a vent in the bathroom#like...are any of these pressing issues? not exactly but some of them would really help my house#and the siding is an eyesore up close#on the plus side having two window ac's has been a life changer#and clearing out junk for a roomie is mentally very freeing#I loved my beardie but her tank took up space that I can now use for storage#that sounds so callous 😅#okee thanks for listening bye#mine

attempting to map out 221b
#not confident about the ground floor other than the kitchen and bathroom are next to each other cause plumbing#there might be a small window in bedroom 1 ground floor cause the wall seems to not be blocked on the outside#yea bedroom 2 ground floor is noisy af cause street lvl windows and double staircase foot traffic lol#originally I was going to shove the bathroom under the staircase lol#yeah so idk where to put the attic staircase#also the attic interior is way too long to fit in the roof#unless the attic is the mf tardis#anyway do not hold me to this lol#lmao updated commentary ->#changed up the layout based on new info and some comments I got on the first/rough version#it's still not 1:1 to the canon designs but I've tried to place things in a way that make sense and fit into the building (sorta)#the interior only makes sense if the building was way bigger than it's depicted as#also I wanted to put the attic access in the closet but it didn't fit right#been treating the windows on the side of the building fast and loose cause man idk I don't get paid to do this#the only way it makes sense that there's light coming through from both the back and front windows is if there's an open enough space behind#maybe the building behind 221b is like.. long and narrow. or L shaped or something idk#still don't know how I feel about the main and attic stairs placement and layout but they work(?)#reference#ref

So the one reason to go to Arkansas is to drive through a town named "Flippin," where everything sounds like a euphemism. Flippin Fire Dept. Flippin School. Flippin Police. Etc.
While that does sound charming, I don't know that justifies a trip to Arkansas
#when I was considering moving to georgia#a place I had not been yet#I was at this hole in the wall thai restaurant with a friend#and the tables were soooo close together#and there was a couple next to us#and the one boyfriend was just like hissing that he was NOT going to move to Arkansas#he didn't care HOW good his bf's job offer was#he was NOT GOING#he could get a job ANYWHERE ELSE#and while GA is not quite on the same level as Arkansas I was like gosh that is what i'm feeling right now#it's soooo far south#anyway I did move to GA and it was fine#although that feels disingenuous#I very rarely left the city and in the city I very rarely met anyone who was actually FROM GA#this one time I stopped for gas in what is apparently a small shitty town#and I'm white but apparently I was OBVIOUSLY not from around there#because there were like five old men sitting at the bar of the little gas station restaurant#who stopped talking when I walked in and just... watched me#as I bought a snack for the road and asked where the bathroom was#just silently disapprovingly watching this outsider... utilize a gas station#the girl working the register seemed apologetic#when i went back out to my car I could see all them watching me from the window#so I do think there are parts of GA that straight up suck#and had I been a different race I think my safety would have been in question that day#but Atlanta was fine for the most part#weirdly full of people from Chicago

Just cool bug stuff but I went on a hike today and there were these two enormous orb weaver webs right next to each other. Like they were both probably over half my height, and they housed two of the biggest cat-faced spiders I've ever seen! They weren't sitting smack dab in the middle of their webs like usual, but you could see them huddled up against the rock they'd built their homes beneath. They're neighbors :)
#i love spiders#especially cat-faced spiders#they're so fat and fuzzy i really like them! there used to be a really big one living outside of my bathroom window#but even she was small compared to these two#awesome!!!!!! :DDD#yap time#i like bugs

once were moved im gonna start planning out how id renovate a van for real. need to do some research—im hoping to get a high roof model and find an insulation + flooring solution that would maintain maximum height in the cargo area
imagine if i could take val camping.......
#wed really still need a nice campground with bathrooms but omg it could be so nice#find a cute campsite. take a nap. light a fire when it gets dark. get back into the van and play video games in bed#wake up in the woods. have a pleasant brunch outside. take a little scenic drive...#would need to find her a comfortable camp chair for maximum outdoor chillage#im also very torn between#separating the backity back of the van from the rest of the main cargo area and using it as an outdoor-accessible storage area#which just really prioritizes having a lot of storage space#(not really a concern in This fantasy but i would also love to use it to like. go skiing or something)#vs like#having the bed pretty up-close with the back doors (maybe w a small storage/nightstand area as a buffer) for the ambiance from the windows#which seems like a small aesthetic detail ik but like#idk if i take val out and we spend a majority of our time in the van#i want the outdoors to be visible and noticeably surrounding us#id have to go scope out campsites beforehand to make sure bathrooms look hunky dory but thats not a big deal at all#like. oh no... i have to go camping twice... whatever shall i do

just killed a wasp that got into my bathroom i'm literally shaking
#normally would not be freaking out this much but the bathroom at the place i'm at is inside my bedroom and they're both very small confined#spaces so if i hadn't been able to kill it instantly it almost definitely would've stung me. and i've never gotten stung by a wasp before so#i have no idea how i'd react. anyways was able to drown it in lysol which did NOT kill it but did make it unable to fly so then squashing it#was much easier. which also somehow didn't kill it so i did have to flush it down the toilet#fucking invincible wasp#also first time killing a wasp without my dads help so everyone cheer!#i have never been more stressed in my life#it got in through the window but i have no idea how bc it's closed and everything's sealed so i just hope it doesn't happen again#shut up hanna

i love watching tiny house/apartement tours cause i wanna see how people make do with such a small space but 9/10 times it's some impractical expensive bullshit for no reason or just fucking ugly
#why is the narrowest apartement in nyc 5 milion#the space is just the right size for me#the bathroom is so pretty and the murphy bed is very practical and i hate having a bed be seen in a space#but fucking 5 milion and no tall storage space for coats and dresses#even my dorm has that#if i had 5 milion to buy it i would fix that but fuck#i just want a small nicely divided space with some big windows#is that too much to ask#ura.txt

it's not about the lawns or landscaping, bro, it's about the windows. projection of grandeur is very much a pushing point for American capitalism, especially as it relates to houses and cars
u understand a lot about american suburbs by looking at the front and back of houses
#you ignored them pointing out the literal facade and instead focused on the lawns & landscaping#huge floor to ceiling windows on what is considered a beautiful house front. and then the rooms not facing the street are small and far#fewer in number - one per room or less#*sorry one window per room or less#it ties in pretty neatly with (white) social norms of projecting wealth and grandeur even if you have none. even if you're just barely#scraping by#it's about the 'individuality' of the front (angles porches windows even that gravel in the front) vs the blank square sparseness of th back#especially considering in American houses what is displayed in those huge windows is usually common areas meant for display - 'living room'#& foyer & kitchen - vs the personal needs kept to the back of the house - the bathrooms and bedrooms#especially considering that backyard time has significantly decreased as people are interacting less with people around them physically#what's the point in setting up a nice backyard if you're not going to show it off to anyone? is the American capitalist showoff mentality
