i just think eddie challenges buck in such a unique way…he isn’t someone who views buck a little bit childlike…with a smile and a laugh and a “oh that’s just Buck.” …eddie listens, and pushes, and asks questions, and indulges when buck needs it, and gets buck to think and work through things when he needs that too.. eddie TRUSTS buck. he trusts him when Eddie’s got his own struggles, to be there and have his back, and that translates to him trusting buck with bucks own issues too, and how he views himself like, no I’m not gonna let you wallow in this, im not gonna let you blame yourself for this, take a different look at it, give yourself the same steady advice you give me….... he pushes back against bucks self narrative when he needs to…and gives him the space to feel when he needs that too..

big thing we don't talk about in this fandom is the fact that a lot of people don't like Eddie as a romantic partner for Buck because Eddie has a kid

even if i hadn't lost interest in bt after confessions, i just feel like. idk the whole idea that he spend their entire relationship jealous and resentful of eddie because of his friendship with buck just...puts me off entirely. like, i can't justify it in my head because i was in a relationship where looking back it was so obvious that my partner was resentful of my friends and there were definite instances of them trying to (and succeeding at times) get me to pull away from my closest ones, and like. the thing is, either you have to let tommy be right and there's a reason why he felt that way that buck (or eddie) were clearly giving vibes that he was picking up on. or.

or.

he literally is just resentful of buck's closest relationships that are not him. and it's like. i don't. i don't get it. i don't understand how that spells out endgame or endearing or cute or just a simple miscommunication. it is literally. a man being resentful and jealous of his partner having close relationships and friendships, and i am not trying to be anti-anything here. it's just. not a great thing. it completely puts me off the character and relationship and maybe it's projecting because of my own experiences but like. if you are literally saying that there's not something absolutely messed up about a man being so insecure in his relationship that he resents his partner's best friend who you are also saying he has a completely normal and not in anyway blurred lines or up to interpretation friendship with and neither one of them have any inkling of romantic feelings for the other ... idk. it's not healthy. it's not cute. it's not fun. and if they romanticize it i'm gonna feel real weird and uncomfortable.

(and i didn't hate tommy, okay. i liked him well enough and i thought they had their cute moments and i enjoyed watching their relationship. i mostly didn't care when they broke up but other than that before the break up i wasn't anti-anything. after that whole jealousy resentful thing though? absolutely not. i can't see it and it would actively make me a little annoyed to see them handwave or excuse that without a lot of work to make it known that that shit isn't okay especially if you're going with tommy had no reason to feel that way.)

like i know i have friends who still like this pairing or whatever and that's okay but i feel llike i need to get this off my chest because i just don't understand why we're ignoring this one thing that just really puts a sour taste in my mouth and you know. personal experience. etc etc. projecting. i get it. it just doesn't come off as cute romcom trope to me. it comes off as actually harmful and messed up.

eddie's 'i was kinda hoping you would' when asking buck to talk to christopher in s7 and then in this recent episode saying he was waiting for christopher to ask him to come live with him. eddie changing his will after almost dying but only telling buck about it after buck tells him maybe it should've been him. waiting for a sign to tell him which way to turn when shannon thinks she's pregnant again. the decision eddie made to take action and stop waiting for permission from his parents or christopher at the end of this episode. if eddie's arc for the rest of this season involves following this thread of no longer waiting for someone else to say something before he does i'm gonna go so insane

s4 was so funny because we were on 4x12 giggling and amused about the treasure hunt shenanigans then next episode we're horrified about the mom poisoning her kid thinking that's the worst. and then it ends with Eddie's blood on Buck's face. you'd think that was the craziest thing. no. the next episode there's an unhinged rescue and then Eddie talks about the will. that's where the season ended. dropping the biggest lore that changes everything and then they go back home to a party like nothing changed. that's how the season ENDED. oh and we've still not talked about the will after that :)))
