M. Connor- Writeblr Intro

Hello everyone, I'm M. Connor (he/they) and I am a romance and fantasy author. I have an interest in both clean and erotic romance novels and short stories. I have been known to dabble in horror short stories and in poetry. I write a variety of queer centered stories with a multitude of different identities and pairings.

My purpose for being on Writeblr is to share my work in a low pressure environment, and to read and support the work of others. I always respond to friendly DMs and I try to reply to asks in a timely manner. I am not currently posting my WIPs online except for excerpts and teasers.

My other interests include art (specifically printmaking and paper making, though I'm getting into digital art), Stardew Valley, Skyrim, MXTX's works, and writing and playing music (I play a lot of instruments and sing). Sometimes these intersect with my writing, and I will post about them from time to time.

Some boundaries: I will block minors on sight. My work is not for those under eighteen, please don't interact unless you are of age. I also do not take unsolicited constructive criticism, especially on matters of taste.

Here are a couple of my WIPs and completed projects:

Lunar Lagoon: An erotic romance set in the modern Mediterranean. Lyria, a mermaid, and Amelia, the transfem captain of an antique sailing vessel, must navigate a budding relationship formed from mutual pleasure as it blossoms into something meaningful and deep, while avoiding the ire of Lyria’s overprotective father. Love should be smooth sailing… right?

Crossroads: An erotic romance set in the US. Hazel Abernathy is a struggling witch fighting a losing battle against her local HOA and the crumbling infrastructure of the house her mother left to her when she passed. She’s ready to get back out there and on Valentines Day, meets the sweet and charming Aleksander, and the bombastic and enigmatic Lillian. The two of them, powerful demons in their own right, have their own struggles with mysterious spiritual attacks on the nightclub they own.

Wear a Coat: A horror short story set in the Appalachian mountains, where I come from. What happens when you don’t follow your mama’s advice and go looking for berries without a coat? Maybe you’ll just get cold or maybe you’ll attract unwanted attention from something dwelling deep within the forest…

Alder: This story follows Finlay, a dryad who has been set adrift after a series of questionable choices. This WIP is pretty nebulous at the moment, but has my whole heart. It’s rife with gender shenanigans and magic

Ochre: What happens if a crow is suddenly given a human form by the Morrigan? Let’s find out! Again, another baby WIP in early stages.

Why Do I Like Jumpchains?

I have been creating jumpchain content for a bit now. It has begun to color what I'm known for in some spaces. In the Reddit community over jumpchain enjoyers, I'm actually not unknown, due to my passion for this community and the contributions I've made to forcibly expanding and growing our audience and community. But why do I like jumpchains? That's a good question.

For me, jumpchains remind me of the wonder I felt when I first started playing video games. They allow me to feel what it is like to live in another world, another time, sometimes even another country. In doing a jumpchain I don't just think of the powers I/my jumper get or their cool gear, I think of the sights they get to see.

As a child, one of the things that I loved the most about video games were the sights I got to see. Getting to see even things as simple as Kanto region in the original Pokemon games was incredibly exciting to me. Getting to see Yoshi's Island was exciting to me. Nowdays seeing things like the eerie pool rooms and liminal spaces in Anemoiapolis and seeing the dragon filled skies above Skyrim in TES:V excites me. For me, creating a jumper is, in a sense, giving someone else the chance to feel that wonder. I actually like creating jumpers who don't have meta-knowledge or genre-awareness so they can experience the wonders of these places for themselves for the first time.

Another thing that I really like is the freedom jumpchains offer. Video games are inherently limited by the fact that they are programmed and thus have limits (though ones that are being stretched and improved every day) that imagination and imaginary games like jumpchains do not. If you ever wanted to wander Hyrule as a dragon but knew that no Legend of Zelda game would let you do that, well... Jumpchain. If you ever wanted to ride through the Mushroom Kingdom on a F-Zero machine... Jumpchain. If you have *thoughts* about how someone in a Metroid powersuit would do in Castlevania... Jumpchain, baby!

On a more personal level, I also strongly enjoy jumpchains as a sort of escape. I don't mean that in a way that is super depressing or anything, but I'm physically disabled and I'm also chronically ill. My health will... never be good. For the rest of my life. But with a jumpchain I can allow myself to become someone who can do cool stuff that I can't do. As a kid I was a martial artist with formal training in Taekwondo and Karate and less formal training in Muay Thai and Silat, and I LOVED martial arts. I may not ever be able to do the same kind of martial arts shenanigans I could once do, but I can with jumpchains. Between basic perks in jumps like Generic First Jump and full jumps like Generic Fist, I can envision myself doing cool stuff that is beyond my real-life capabilities. I don't often do self-inserts in real, sketched out, chains but I sometimes daydream about self-inserts doing a few jumps. I like to imagine getting the parkour skills of the mario brothers from the Super Mario 64 jump, and spending time on Isle Delfino in the Super Mario Sunshine jump, or spending a decade honing my skills as a martial artist in the Generic Fist jump.

Why do you like jumpchains? If you see this post, and you feel like engaging with it but aren't a jumper yourself, what do you think it'd take for someone to persuade you to try? I'd love to know what could convince you to try out a chain yourself.

I HAVE A BASIC LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING OF SKYRIM SO TELL ME ABOUT THESE GUUUUUUYS

It is in fact NOT based on Skyrim the last dragonborn (except it is, for named character Krel'dr on the below, said last dragonborn (except is he last considering [redacted character] is younger??? Lots to ponder in house.) and the shenanigans around the character.

TLDR; me and my bff roleplay this party of 2nd age elders scrolls characters intimately related to the TESO timeline of The Vestige and fighting against Molag Bal and other events. And we have done so for YEARS. Discord hates to see us across timezones.

But instead - it's a deep dive on secular polytheism of multiple pantheons, divine intervention and predestination, magic, military and religious Skyrim stendarrite templars, berseker (smutty) stereotype, smutty cat folk and werewolf related physiology, fated soulmates trope, knightly courtship lais tropes, long ass slow burn, queerness, introspection on human character and reincarnation/love through the ages, a good dose of grief and war trauma and crisis of faith. Also ocxcanon. LOTS of smut. All that in Skyrim sauce. TESO writers should hire us for realsies. We rewrote and completed the 2nd age histories in VERY detailed fashion and canon lore compliant to the extreme, also built on several cultures (mostly orsimer, breton, redguard and daedra. Kinda bosmers too?? But in a hyperfocused detailed way) and extrapolated the religious aspects of d/aedras in Skyrim and their worship and existence (with looooooooose inspo from bg3, because the character creation gave me the perfect arawhn and sanguine)

Their main stories span perhaps...2-4 years of intense active shenanigans, but truthfully we have about 100 years-ish covered inc. Pre and post canon and death of main characters (near a millennia if you count timeskips. Technically 2 ages if you include 4th age retcon, several adjacent aus, character focused back and adjacent stories, etymology theses etc etc). It's ACOTAR but better and on crack and lotr and asoiaf all in one. It's my medievalist to bff's anthropologist.

We have commissioned artists!! For the ocs. My loves.....my blorbos. LOTS OF OFFICIAL OC ART (I also drew some!!!)

I have in pocket ready to discuss the thesis of spices within that party - mainly around tadhg (orc character, green spices) Vs ca'asimir (redguard character, red spices). And many more theses for dichotomy, parallels, foils, and a lot of personal details.

What you witnessed is snippets around the main pairing - throuple - of krel'dr, seirian and tadhg!!! All characters are main characters TBF but I WILL go on a 100k+ thesis about them and do so with my bff on a daily basis. SKT is in fact what I think about 24/7.

AAAAAANNND if you must know the reason you are all subjected to WWE Roman reigns is that he is perfect for tadhg, my beloved oc, my one true guy (jk they all are my blorbos) ...barring obvious characteristics (such as orsimer physique)
