i understand being upset at sram changing sana from muslim to romani, but is it that much different than druck changing even from bipolar to trans?

i (a trans man) would’ve really preferred if they kept david bipolar and had him also be trans

same here. islam is the second most popular religion amongst the romani people, and even if it wasn’t, why can’t she be both?? it is times like these when i realise how simplified skam can get, carried away on focusing too much on sana being muslim or noora being a feminist or isak being gay. especially france 2nd gen (which is one of my fav ogs!!!)

anyways i have so much faith in sram because so far they have been killing it with complex subtext and cinematography and im very excited to meet sana’s remake and im very very very hopeful that we’ll get at least 4 seasons!!! 🫶🫶🫶

So... a few months ago, I fell into the hole that is skam france. I don't know why I had never seen it before since I loved the OG so much, as well as the other versions.

Anyway, I completely fell in love with lucas and, consequently, his season. I became obsessed with all types of content, even FMVs, but there came a point where I wanted to make my own. Hi! I’m a Finn living in Ghana and married to a Dangme. I live in an area where there are a lot of Fante speakers but at home we speak Dangme and Finnish. I lied. My family speaks mostly English. But we are trying to speak more Dangme and Finnish. Anyway…

Dangme:

Dangme is my main target 🎯 language. I really really want to be able to speak with my in-laws.

Fante:

I rather reluctantly and passively learn Fante. Everybody speaks it at my workplace so I should learn it. But I don’t wanna. Don’t ask me why. I don’t know the answer. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Anyway a Fante teacher comes to our house every Sunday mainly to give my kids private lessons so they can catch up with their Fante peers. Fante is compulsory subject in their school. I’m so far behind my kids already.

Twi:

Everybody keeps telling me to learn Twi instead because it’s somewhat of a lingua Franca here. I did at some point but it distracted my Dangme learning and also confused me because it’s so similar to Fante. I may return to learning Twi at some point. But I want to master Dangme first. This might be a dumb thing to do but…

GSL/ASL

I am very interested in Ghanaian Sign Language and American Sign Language too. So sometimes I play around with those two. But like I don’t have any pressure to learn them. I just want to be able to communicate with a lady who sells me fruits and honestly she is so sweet I wish to be her friend so hopefully 🤞 I can learn a few phrases at least to get started.

French

Ok so I was really burnt out and frustrated in Dangme for some time and kinda gave up a bit. So as there was a language vacuum in my life obviously I had to learn SOMETHING. I watched SKAM France and fell in love. It was Covid lock down and I had lots of time so I was learning that a bit. It was so easy compared to Dangme. Anyway I only did like very basics and then sifted my focus back to Dangme. But I do still follow some French media and books when I get a chance. Also my kids have to take French in school so I sometimes learn with them.

Swedish

Yeah. I was supposed to learn Swedish in school. I mean, I think I can still read some simple texts but … I watched Young Royals and understood NOTHING. Ok maybe simple stuff like Jag älskar dig and stuff like that. If I had time I would revise Swedish. But alas, time is that one thing I lack these days.

English

Learnt it in school. I use it every day. Still not fluent though. I guess all I can do at this point is to read more challenging texts. I don’t really have a plan. I’m quite comfortable with my current level. I’m not a perfectionist.

Finnish

Having lived 10 years abroad I sometimes feel my own language is a bit rusty. Still someone contacted me that I should start offering Finnish courses here in Ghana. I mean… I don’t think I’m qualified but if there are people who need a tutor I guess I can help. But Finnish grammar is a real bitch.

I think that’s all for now. I try not to get involved with any more languages. Though my husband was suggesting we move to UAE for a while. Arabic? 😅

Anyway, that’s me. I would really like friends. Especially if you also struggle with learning rare languages. Or want help with Finnish.

Edit: I forgot Latin. I took 3 courses back in upper secondary school. But I can only remember: Ecce Laura puella Fennica i vinea. 😆

Update: started learning teeline. It feels sort of like learning a language with all the special symbols.

If you had to how would you rank the skams wlw couple? With mayla season 6 (let’s forget about s9)

1. Kieutou

This is me being incredibly biased, but watching Fatous season live did something to my brain, because as long I can remember there's never been a black main character like her on german TV, and that's why I'll defend Fatous season with everything. Also I loved how Kieu My and Fatou talked about being children of immigrants and how they related to eachother about that topic. And I loved that it wasn't a season about coming out, but that in s5 and 6 at least, everyone was casually gay and it was no big deal and they could talk openly about it. Additionally, even though the general audience may have not liked it, i absolutely lived for how the season was catered to non-white people, and our struggles, and for that druck s6 will always be the best skamverse season for me.And also, the symbolism. I lived for all the symbolism regarding Kieu My being the ice queen and the axolotl, and Fatou the warmest person ever, and how they complemented each other. And lastly for now, Kieu My climbed on a fucking roof for Fatou, alone for that they'll be always my top 1 skamverse couple

2. Anobbie

I don't think I've ever seen a skamverse couple in general having such great communication, and I don't think there's a skma season where a couple is already together early in the season and staying together and growing together throughout the clips and episodes and learning more about each other. And just like Fatou and Kieu My, Anais and Bobbie really complement eachother and I love that. And I also love how Anais season is lowkey Fatous season from Kieu Mys perspective and I also love how there are so many parallels between those two seasons. I also love how Bobbie tries to help Anais to stand up for herself, and just how much she cares for her, and also how much they can't get enough of eachother, they're just really cute so far

3. Mayla

First of all, Lola really went through it in her season, I don't remember everything from s6, but her suffering is what I remember because there was so much, I love how cute Lola and Maya were together and honestly I just watched skam france for them, I didn't even watch the other seasons, which shows just how popular they were as couple

4. Crisana

I've actually never watched Skam España before, but I've seen edits of crisana, and I know their season was iconic because it was a wlw of an isak season. Honestly they're really cute, but I need to watch the season to make a better judgement

So, the newest Skam remake, Skam Croatia - Sram, has inspired me to rewatch all the Noorhelm ❤️ seasons. Starting with the ones on YouTube. I wish the OG was there so I could have started with that one, but France it was. Basing it just on season 2, and not what happens in later seasons, France isn’t that bad. I think it’s a pretty faithful adaptation. (Again, wish I had watched the OG first, but from what I remember, it was pretty similar.) But, it ranks low on my list because other countries did it better.

Anyway, not the original point of the post. I finished France, and next one to come to mind was Netherlands. I have not fully rewatched this since it first aired. First off, iconic opening clip. Second, as soon as I saw Noah I thought, oh no he kinda looks like Matty Healy. The Swiftie in me does not approve 😆

I just had to get that out, back to the show!

I first discovered Skam through comments on TikTok Heartstopper and Young Royals edits. That led me to the amazing alllofskam resource and from there I started watching Sam France. I didn’t realise how the show worked until I then moved onto Skam Norway and started looking at the transmedia aspect that the incredible fandom has archived. I joined the Bang in 2023 as a beta through seeing promotion for the event on the instagram of the Skam recap podcast Alt Er Love and thought it would be a great way to get more connected to the fandom.

Why are you excited to participate in the Skam Big Bang?

I am excited to participate in the 2024 Bang as a mod because I am keen to give back to the community that has given me so much. I am not exaggerating when I say I have made lifelong friends through this fandom.

Hello there! I'm thankful for the anon option since I'm shy, but if you want to heal... There is a series that has Ivantill in it. Sort of.

I'll only put some very nice anecdote here, since the whole Alien Stage Fandom goes on about parallel and alternate universes.

The series is Skam France, specifically season 3. Skam means shame in Norwegian language. The premise is about a guy who's closeted and tries his hardest to be heteronormative (but we know Till doesn't have To Try), and the new guy in the school whos first day saw nothing but this dude (Ivan, let's be real. And this is in the TRAILER.)

There's a lot of mental health and sexuality/some naughties involved though, so thread carefully.

The story progresses into the guys locking eyes and the Till-like character is very drawn in by this Ivan! After a lot of ups and down... This is a line exchange that is happening in the series:

Ivan: The first time I saw you wasn't in the common room. It was on the corridor, on my first day. I didn't know anyone, and you were there, with your friends. You didn't see me...

...but I saw you. You're all I saw, actually.

Till: What would you have done, if I hadn't come to the common room? Or like... If I'd taken the bus right before, or right after? Maybe we would've never met?

Ivan: I admit, it's kinda scary.

Till: Well, it happened in the end, so...

Ivan: You know, when I have a choice to make... I always picture two paths. I end up choosing one of them, because I have to make a decision at some point. But I'll never know what I missed by not taking the other one.

Till: And right now, don't you feel like you took the right path?

Ivan: I do. Of course I do

Till: When I make a choice... I tell myself there are other Tills... In other parallel universes who took the other path. That way, between all the Tills in all the universes, we've tried everything.

Ivan: What are the other Tills doing, now?

Till: Right now?

Ivan: Mhm

Till: Well, there's a very ripped Till... Surfing on a huge wave in Bali.

Ivan, chuckling: Okay

Till: There's another one on a skyscraper in New York. He's singing a huge deal worth, like, a millions of dollars with very angry aliens.

Ivan: What makes you say your businessman Till didn't climb up his tower and jump? Like, he had a big burnout?

Till, chuckling: That's awful! Have you never thought about it?

Ivan: I don't really believe in it, to be honest.

Till: Well, you're wrong. You're wrong because there are many Ivans and Tills in other parallel universes... Who are together, right now.
