Genuinely one of my favorite things about the maruaders fandom that is widely agreed upon:

Regulus is trans. Everyone assumes Remus is trans because werewolf behavior can look suspiciously similar to having a period. Shenanigans ensue:

*During 1st Year*

Sirius: *discreetly giving Remus chocolate during his time of the month*

Remus, in his head: HOW DOES HE KNOW? HOW DOES HE KNOW I'M A WEREWOLF? HOW DOES HE KNOW CHOCOLATE HELPS? WHY IS HE NOT SAYING ANYTHING? WHAT IS HAPPENING?

*Quidditch Locker Room*

Marlene: FUCK!

Sirius: What's wrong?

Marlene: I started my period and don't have anything on me!

James, who started carrying extras because he's a mom friend: Oh, here you go.

Marlene: *intensely stares at them* Okay if James carries the tampons and Remus is the one who uses them, why the FUCK is Sirius named Pads???

James: I. . .what?

Sirius: Abort Prongs. There's no right answer to this one.

*During a Study Session*

Regulus: Ugh, I'm so jealous of you sometimes Lupin.

Remus "Low Self-Esteem" Lupin: Why?

Reg: It's just that. . .well, if your mood is any indication, your time of the month is so CONSISTENT! Like, every 28 days like clockwork. You've never had 2 in one month or anything!

Remus, in his head: . . .is. . .is Regulus a werewolf too? Is this how Sirius was so accepting?

Remus out loud: You get it TWICE sometimes, how is that even possible?

Reg: I know right, it's so unfair!

Regulus: . . .

Peter: . . .

Regulus: So is there a REASON you've been stalking me or---

Peter: Are you a werewolf?

Reg: The fuck? No? Why---

Peter: KAY THANKS BYE!

*later*

Remus: oh my God Peter I didn't mean ASK HIM

Peter: Well how the fuck else was I supposed to find out?

smart sirius black headcanons to balance out the other people who feel the need to dumb him down to make remus intelligent (both can be intellectually cultivated!)

really good at debating and, if the class piques his interest, he will debate with anyone about anything. his favourite person to debate with is lily evans; he likes watching her rile up

stem person. he’s particularly good at maths

made up a lot of the spells that were used in creating the marauders’ map (both he and james were into spell-making)

extremely good at writing essays; most of them tend to be quite a bit over the required length and bring a lot additional information

however, he prefers the practical approach, and he’s extremely skilled, especially in casting spells and apparition (he was the first in their year to apparate, after a few lessons)

reads as a hobby

extremely talented at wandless and nonverbal magic. he had it mastered a long time before he was taught it, and he surprised his charms and defence against the dark arts teacher with the ease wandless and nonverbal magic came to him

horace slughorn tried to recruit him into the slug club, but he declined (he found the idea boring and unappealing, especially being around members of the society he disliked)

a particularly skilled duellist, even when he moves with grace and elegance through the battlefield

experimented with runes (both tattoos and on his wand) and charmed his wand so that only he could use it if he placed his fingers on it a certain way

charmed his bike (he made it bigger than it was before) and he did the work to make it fly

highly developed critical thinking skills

while i will always love and appreciate the bisexual dean winchester agenda, i truly believe that if he was raised differently—or maybe if he grew up today instead—that boy would have been gay. like his love for women in a romantic/sexual context was always such a caricature and was continuously used as a symbol of masculinity that played against the roles assigned to him by his father growing up for the sake of suppressing any queerness he might exhibit. now whether that suppression was purposely written into his character or was a reaction to the character they had created, i’m not sure, but it’s there regardless.

i don’t mean to dismiss the love he felt for cassie or lisa, but particularly with lisa, i’m not sure he was ever in love with her, despite the fact that he did care for both her and ben. i get so frustrated watching the end of s5 because him going to her house and his perfect “apple pie life” being with her in suburbia genuinely came out of nowhere and i’ve never understood a) why it had to happen, and b) why it had to be lisa. but thinking about it in this sense, she was the closest thing he had in his life to everything he was raised to believe he should want by one john winchester, who lost his perfect wife, perfect family, perfect apple pie life and sent all of them down this path in the first place. so of course to dean, his happy ending would be with someone like lisa. but that’s the important part. someone like lisa, not lisa herself. he may have had love for her and he may have been able to picture a life with her, but it wasn’t necessarily because she was everything he wanted; she was a symbol of the things that tore his family apart and so to be with her felt like he was finally able to put some of it back together. and that makes me so sad for him because all of that is a result of the sense of responsibility ingrained in him growing up by john, not something he wanted for himself.

but back to his general attitude towards women, there was an excellent post that said he only acts like the typical womanizer he has a reputation for being around women deemed “stereotypical” by the misogynistic perspective. otherwise, he tends to take on a fairly brotherly role; he doesn’t tend to pursue any women he can “take seriously,” and is more intimidated or impressed by them than anything else. with the exception of cassie (which was pre-series and we never got full context for in the first place), he only ever pursued women with whom he would have a definitive ending—by that i mean women who he knows he’ll never see again or who would have a clearly defined role during the time they’re together that wouldn’t threaten the status quo. and yes these could also be the traits of a commitment-phobe or someone chronically on the move, but for one, sam doesn’t tend to do the same thing (see ruby, amelia, and eileen), and for two, given the things i mentioned already, it makes me consider it more of a result of him not actually being interested in women romantically.

his reaction to women when not purposely used as the butt of a joke or to perpetuate the “womanizer dean winchester” agenda is often so innately fraternal, caring in a way that doesn’t have any expectations behind it. and when there is a romantic context, so much of the relationship can be attributed to the way john raised him and the beliefs he has as a direct result; it’s never simply been built on the foundation of love.

every time he is dismissed as this macho het guy, it also dismisses so much of what makes him a wonderful character, and yes a lot of that is his queerness. so in a world where he didn’t grow up with roles and responsibilities that shaped him into someone he knew his dad hated and forced him to create this character for himself in order to survive? i think he would have been gay and he would have been okay with that.

Mighty Nein Origins: Caduceus Clay has been out for a little bit now, so thank you sincerely to anyone who has enjoyed it!

As ya'll know by now, the script and the colours (!!) are the true highlight of the comic!!! On my end, my goal was just to put my entire ass in it in such a way that I would be happy to pull any page out to slap on as a wallpaper/print. This was great at the beginning, but made me want to cry towards the end. No regrets..?

things about the marauders i think should be explored more by the fandom:

sirius' love for motorbikes (him being drawn to a muggle creation, but specifically a muggle creation that has connotations to ideas of rebellion and freedom and alt culture, but also he then adds magical components to his bike, like he is not only interested in muggle culture but in combining the two and learning from both worlds, as well as showing his creative side)

the way remus talks/thinks about other werewolves (i think we want him to be fighting for werewolf rights and supporting other people like him, etc. but he does adhere and adjust who he is in order to fit into the wizarding world and does look down on other werewolves don't conform. and it is so interesting to explore that and the depths that that goes, and whether he does actually think like that, or just says that stuff to further fit in himself)

sirius having his own apartment at 17 (he's a rebellious, troublemaking teenager with his own place. shenanigans galore guys.)

lily giving slughorn a petal that turned into a fish as a present (it's obvious why slughorn like her- hardworking/smart/talented in potions, but lily clearly liked him if she gave him a thoughtful present. why?? it's very obvious slughorn picks favourites and shows off the famous ex-students he 'mentored', why would she like him?? did he help her adjust in first year? did she let him spend breaktime practicing potions in his classroom? was it purely because he thought she was talented and she was being favourited by him?)

sirius not destroying the portrait of his mother (there was a sticking charm to it, but there are ways around it. and him 'not coming up with muggle solutions' I've seen as an excuse on why, doesn't make sense since he's extremely smart and knows quite a bit about muggles. so is there still a glimpse of love towards her despite everything? did she feel the same to him?)

peter's death (what does that say about him as a character? in hesitating to harm harry, is there still care towards james and lily? or regret? did he look at harry and see james? the idea of him being killed by his hand, is interesting in thinking about peter as a puppet, perhaps manipulated in every action he takes? or forced to always be the right hand to someone else?)
