I’m sorry if this has been asked, but what Jedi (besides Yoda) represents the best of what a Jedi could be in your opinion?
That's… a complicated question 😅. Very hard to answer, considering I love them all 💕.
The answer is that… well, the best of the Jedi is the Order itself. I know it sounds ridiculous but… they are all awesome 😍.
Shaak Ti is… the clones' mom, basically (or close enough). She also took ✨baby Ahsoka ✨ on her akul hunt. She's kind and compassionate, she stands up for the clones and doesn't stop pushing the Kaminoans until she saves Fives' life (who at the time was believed to have gone rogue).
Plo Koon adopts/mentors every curious being he comes across (which we stan) ♥️, and loves the clones so much. Do you still think about the "we are supposed to be expendable" "not to me" exchange, or ✨baby Ahsoka✨ trusting him immediately because she knows he's safe to be around? Yeah, me too 🥺.
Ki-Adi Mundi is the most stern out of the Council (save for perhaps Mace), but that doesn't stop him from goofing around with the kids (Anakin and Ahsoka) and caring a lot towards his men (and people say he's an emotionless robot and proof of everything wrong with the Order 🙄).
Mace Windu walks close to the Dark Side every day yet chooses not to Fall every single time ✊. He has a temper, but keeps it under control and doesn't let his anger outweight his kindness. In TCW he's shown putting himself in danger for his men in nearly every moment he's on screen, and is even compassionate towards Boba after he's killed his men 🥺. He loves the Republic, loves Depa, and holy fuck he defeated Sidious!
Even Ima-Gun Di, the guy who's literally named "I'm gonna die 😂", seems to be a good Jedi. He's close with his men and dies protecting Ryloth (the Twi'leks owe him their planet, their freedom and their lives!).
But the Jedi who exemplifies the best of them? It's tricky, but I'm gonna pick Obi-Wan and Luke.
Obi-Wan remains kind and compassionate even after his whole family, culture and way of life is burned to the ground by the men he fought three entire years to protect and his Padawan/brother at the lead. He, even when dirt poor, gives some money to a veteran of the 501st! Anakin's legion! The same legion that stormed the Temple! This man is amazing 😍🥹.
And Luke 🥹, what hasn't been said about Luke? He overcomes his difficulties, he finds a present to stand on, he sacrifices himself to save the Rebellion and his father, his kriffing Sith-Apprentice-Jedi-Killer-Emperor's-Fist father, and he succeeds! He tells the Emperor to fuck right off and that he's a Jedi and will die a Jedi before he becomes a Sith. He offers Jabba the Hutt the opportunity to surrender and get out of the situation without bloodshed.
But anyways 😅. Luke and Obi-Wan are, along with Yoda, the representation of the best of the Jedi, but everyone else is not so far behind (except Anakin and Ahsoka).

Obi wan anakin and ahsoka family soap blurb
So i just rewatched one of @zengers star wars ai videos on youtube (which i can only highly recommend they're the best) and heard obi wan calling anakin and ahsoka 'kids'. And this combined with their relationship what was always big bro little sister and their tired single dad i had an idea of soap about obi wan ahsoka and anakin and their daily life:
Anakin and ahsoka being the kids, anakin the older broher and ahsoka the younger sister and obi wan is their tired single dad raising them (also the mom role with their mom satine already passed away who had loved her beloved kids and husband uncondicionally and was so fun and warm and sweet and is missed every day so badly) and r2 d2 being their pet which dad never wanted but the kids found it lost without a home and begged him that they please could keep it an that they would ofc take care of it (obi dad has to take it on walks and feed it and we know it) but in the end he still loves it aswell. Yoda being their unhinged great grandvather already in retirement home telling dirty jokes at the dinner table on thanksgiving and qui gon being their grandfather living nearby teaching them dumb shit joining them on their stupid adventures. Mace windu being their neighbour who hates kids but especially them two who always destroy his peace and quite, windows and lawn. Yelling over the fence to kenobi to get his fucking brood in control while they always play pranks on him all the time. Padme being anakins girlfriend, rex their cousin and cody, quinlan and obi single dad besties, a bros since childhood trio.
Them (the kids and the dad bros) spreading chaos wherever they go. Kids making the dumbest decisions and going on the stupidest adventures together every day, going on their dads very last nerve and not listening to him most of the time. Them accidently almost blowing up the entire city by trying to get him the best gift for fathers day/ his birthday (they probably forgot it in the first place and gotta apologice) trying to show him how much they love and appreciate him and how sorry they are. They would do everything for him and love him uncondicionally. Obi dad sometimes even joining them on their dumb adventures or himself making the stupid decicions and them experiencing all kinds of chaotic days in normal day to day life.
Episodes where the dad bestie trio and all their kids together go on roadtrips camping and get lost and then get chased by a moose through the woods while some funny song playing the background. Or a funny day trip and then at the drive home anakin would be like "...and that was so funny you should have heard that loud splash when i threw her into the fountain, she was so mad tho. But it was so worth it cause it was sooo funny" "Well certainly not for your poor, soaking wet sister" "oh by the way while we are talking about her....where is she?" "What do you mean anakin? She's right th..." and obi dad then turning blank white in the face after looking in the backmirror while driving realising they had forgotten her in the hotel lobby (still dripping wet) and him than doing a 360. turn weels screaching and yeeting of to get her. Her pouting all the way home and obi wan apologizing the whole time "dear i'm so sorry i don't know how that could have happen your brother was going on my nerves with the pool animal and" and anakin just laughing.
Then in the end of the episodes they'd be sitting on the couch in the living room like "dad you know that we love you so much thank you for being the best of all dads" and these were the rare moments they'd be so serious and he'd be like "aw kids even tho you k*ll my very last nerve every day of course i love you guys too more than everything and i could never imagine my life without you two in it" "and r2" "yeah ofc and r2" and then after a cute warm cuddle anakin would say something like "even tho you're old as f*ck" and crack the moment with the invicible audience laughing and obi dad shaking his head sighing and laughing and then the episode ends.
Just their daily life that would be an awesome, fantastic family comedy soap.
Any show title ideas anyone?

Hello
What is a character that you did not expect you would like but ended up being obsessed with?
Hi thank you for the question! You have no idea what can of worms you just opened haha! My answer is Obi-Wan but wait- let me explain!
I first watched the Star Wars movies with my family when I was 5 or 6 in the order that they were released. So originals then prequels. Over the years, we watched 2003 Clone Wars, the TCW movie, and then we would catch some episodes of TCW from time to time when we were somewhere that had cable TV and was playing the show on Cartoon Network.
My little child brain did not see any nuance whatsoever because I was a child and therefore all my favorite characters were characters I thought were cool or the epitome of #girlpower (I'm a lesbian. I was obsessing over them in a lesbian way. I did not know this. Go women.) To me, Obi-Wan was just a white man. He was nice but he was also bland and boring. I didn't really touch his action figure when I would play with the Star Wars ones my brothers and I shared.
Last year I decided to watch Star Wars in chronological order of events rather than release date. And I really wanted to sit down and actually watch TCW because I'd only seen odd episodes here and there as a kid. In my rewatch, I was struck by Obi-Wan's kind heart, undying belief in the Jedi Order and the light side of the Force, sass and wit mingling with posh Brit attitude, the way he just slays nonstop (even in flavors of drowned wet cat and pathetic meow meow), and his overwhelming vibes of bisexuality. I was quite taken by him. He went from being just some white guy to being My Special White Guy.
[If you are curious and would like to see my list of childhood faves, it's under the cut.]
Vader - He's intimidating and I had his lightsaber. (Came in a three pack of Vader, Luke, and Obi-Wan. My mom went ham for things that came in three's or multiples of three because I'm a triplet and it's convenient)
C-3P0 - He literally went to the school of cuntology. (Special honor goes to his husband R2. Inseparable comedy and fuck-shit-up duo.)
Leia - She's a badass and I'm a lesbian. Slave Leia outfit did something to my developing brain.
Padmé - She's competent and I'm a lesbian. Also I would regularly check out the Star Wars visual dictionaries from the library or just look at them while I was there (I would go every Wednesday) and stare her costumes for way too long. Genuinely, I was (and still am) obsessed with every single costume they gave her.
Ahsoka - Jedi who's a girl and also a kid like me???!? Instant fave.
Ventress - Oaughhhgg drop dead gorgeous woman with two beautiful red lightsabers and the way she fights????? Guards, take me away
Aurra Sing - Genuinely think this one was because I'm a lesbian. I recall checking out a novel where she was the mc along with a comic that featured her from the library and the only thing from them I remember is looking at the pictures of her and thinking she's so pretty.
Mace Windu - Special honors go to him because his lightsaber color is the best. When I dove into Star Wars fandom spaces for the first time last year, I could not fathom why I kept seeing people say stuff about "Windu hate". I was under the impression the only thing to critique was they didn't let Samuel L Jackson say motherfucker even once. I stand by this.

Now I know the novelizations are *technically* not canon, but the ROTS novelization is close enough that I ignore the factoid:
EVERYTHING Anakin does in ROTS is to save Padme: wanting to become a master asap so he can go to the restricted area of the archives, listening to Palpatine about Darth Plagueis, killing Mace Windu etc.
So when Anakin turns around and begins to not only choke her, but use the force in doing so, it’s to show he’s lost it. THATS his final turning point. It’s when Obi Wan fully steps in. Because at that point, Anakin is using the power he cherished to destroy the person he cherished most.
And it’s especially harmful on his part because Anakin feels deeply, so much so that everyone around him is aware of it. So for him to commit such violence against the woman he loved most, it’s beyond a betrayal. It’s purely malicious.
What Anakin may or may not have believed has nothing to do with it, because should it have been normal Anakin and not « i just murdered children » Anakin, he would NEVER lay a hand on a single hair on her head.
Obi wan did not add stress when he did his mom pose on the ship, because both of them were trying to calm him down, to see wtf is going on. Obi wan sends Padme out first for a REASON. Anakin escalates it by himself, he tells Padme not to turn against him when she barely suggests what he did is wrong, and then he flips out at the sight of Kenobi.
All this to say is that Anakin was antagonistic the entirety of the scene, and this point of the story is when he chose the path to take AFTER all the circumstances he experienced. Nonetheless he made the choice himself.
sorry can’t believe i need to say this but anakin strangling padme is an evil act and that is the point of it. his lowest point is betraying all his wife fought for and then attacking her. thats when he fully descends. you don’t get to handwave it with “well he thought she was cheating on him” (DUBIOUSLY canon) or “it was a high stress situation, he felt bad later”. like you don’t get to soften the edges of something like that, star war is ABOUT loving people horrors and all . if you can’t deal with the weight of a third act climax go watch young jedi adventures!!

anyway this is random but i have mentioned it before: i really really want to make an anidala video set to all night forever by twrp. i was driving around earlier and listening to this song on loop so the urge rose within me again. i think it can be so fucking funny. i spent my driving time planning it out a bit so i think i can actually make the full song with just the movies for footage, but it is a 5 minute song and i have so so so much going on with school right now so i have to wait until like, late may to make this thing, but trust me it's on my mind and it's still so funny to me
here i'm going to outline my idea for it below, See My Vision !!!
youtube
VERSE 1: the phantom menace
Wandering through the sunlight Waiting for our forever night I've been searching for you Every night and day too Soon you'll be before me I give you my soul freely Laws of nature bending Our love never-ending Ancient love all aglow I lose all control
just generally showing the few moments where baby anakin has a crush on padme - hopefully there are enough moments in tpm to carry through this whole verse
PRE-CHORUS 1: ATTACK OF THE CLONES
Underneath the pale twilight I intone of the ancient rite Whisper you of my name And I'll take your hand
starts with their first meeting in aotc when they've both grown up and how they're drawn to each other again. also is there a scene that takes place at night? i hope so and i vaguely remember so but i wont know for sure until i have to rewatch these movies to compile footage.
this is overall meant to show them falling in love in the first half of the movie, but i may need to extend it into the last few lines of verse 1 if there's too little footage in tpm/too much footage in aotc
CHORUS 1: ATTACK OF THE CLONES
Let's make this night last (All night forever) Until the future becomes the past One night unending (All night forever) And I wouldn't change a single thing
begins with the tusken massacre! anakin slaughtering people. "i wouldn't change a single thing" is when we see his mom die
Let's make this night last (All night forever) Let's take it slow, no need to go fast And time will stand still (All night forever) Our love will make it Yes, I know it will
wraps up the rest of aotc including the scene where padme comforts him after the tusken massacre -__-
VERSE 2: REVENGE OF THE SITH
Reaching out to the unknown I feel like I'm not alone
isn't there a scene at the beginning where anakin has a nightmare while in bed with padme. something like this
Light and dark and shadow Secrets from long ago From the earth, you do rise Beautiful and all-wise
the "have you ever heard the tragedy of darth plagueis the wise?" scene. "how do i learn this power" etc
Cast your spell upon me In my heart, I do see Ancient love from below You and I are whole
the rest of rots where it's just anakin's declining mental health surrounding the idea of padme dying
CHORUS 2: REVENGE OF THE SITH
Let's make this night last (All night forever) Until the future becomes the past One night unending (All night forever) And I wouldn't change a single thing Let's make this night last (All night forever) Let's take it slow, no need to go fast And time will stand still
the reveal that palpatine is sidious and the whole jedi fight scene against him, chorus ending with anakin letting mace windu die during the last line. the instrumental bit right after this chorus is when anakin is named Darth Vader
BRIDGE: REVENGE OF THE SITH
Now that you're here, in my arms tonight Eternity doesn't seem so long to me Because it's all night forever With you tonight Forever and ever and ever and ever It's all night forever With you tonight Forever and ever and ever and ever It's all night
the attack on the jedi temple, the scene where anakin goes to meet padme and she doesn't know he did it yet, the mustafar scene where they fight and he chokes her and she collapses, etc
OUTRO: REVENGE OF THE SITH
All night forever (All night, baby, it's forever) With you, tonight (All night, baby, it's forever) Forever and ever and ever and ever It's all night Now that you're here, in my arms tonight Eternity doesn't seem that long to me at all Now that you're with me baby, now that you're with me Baby baby baby baby, yeah
padme funeral scene being directly juxtaposed with anakin burning and then being put into the vader life support suit
(All night, baby, it's forever) (All night, baby, it's forever) (All night, baby, it's forever) (All night, baby, it's forever)
fade to black on anakin's new vader helmet right after the surgery!!

HIII FOR OMURA PLS
🍉: Does your OC have a particular piece of jewellery that they always wear or refuse to part with?
🍍: Where does your OC feel most comfortable?
🍑: What sort of traits does your OC look for in a Significant Other?
🍆: Does your OC have any favourite form of affection, physical or otherwise?
🍰: What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?
CLAWS MY WAY UP FROM HELL ITSELF I GET TO OMURAPOST EVEN MORE???? and finally back on my laptop can i get a hohyeah?
putting this under the cut bc it got so long oh my god leo ilysm
🍉: Omura has a beskar pendant in the shape of a mythosaur skull that its mother, Usokya'Varhis Vane, placed in its carrier. For years it was used as a teething toy, then pounce practice, and now as a focusing element for prayer. There's a custom headpiece that @calamity-aims' Rishh made for Omura as well, adorned with crystals from Mandalore's underground cave systems, centered around the kyber crystals Omura found from the same systems - although this piece is typically saved for ceremonies or when it has to attend a formal High Council meeting later on in its 30s-40s.
🍍: Usually in a created nest, and surrounded by any number of loved ones. Mace Windu (dad <3), Kit Fisto (dad <3), Dara Idella (@spacerocksarethebestrocks, gender neutral mom and ultimate. yes <3), Agen Kolar (dad <3), Cin Drallig + Serra Keto + Bene McCallum (Kiwigiiii), baby sister Losnook, Bastra (you! Leo!!), Altair (@dilf-archivist the one i would actually heave oceans for), its partners in crime Zeyil and Tan, literally any of its partners - Latil (@penguinkiwi the most beloved), Anakin (mine <3), Sirajaat Tott, Jess (@chiafett my adored), Chomp (@keys-to-the-stars the realest) Kimni Tadodena (shared w/ Leo), Zarthi.. any of its plethora of children both adopted and born, Rishh (Cal's!) just for the fact that she is such a beloved friend... even if you're just in proximity and it's time for Omura to flop.
🍑: That's a hilarious question, since its partners are all have a very wide array of personalities - the polycule web stretches far and wide, with love for every single one of them. Omura couldn't even begin to tell you its real type besides "you are good to me, you love me, you are genuine, and I will put the same love in with you", to sum it up into words? Omura fell in love with Anakin the same as it fell in love with Latil, and the same as it fell in love with Kimni and Sirajaat and Chomp and Zarthi and Jess. All of them bring different things to the table. // Anakin is like, this certain sense of intimacy and trust. // Latil is like the calm and the quiet that settles right after the sun sets and the moon rises. // Kimni is like a rush of overwhelming devotion, but not in the intoxicating sense - more like waking up for the first time to something you adore. // Sirajaat was the first time Omura learned to open its eyes and see beyond what it knew, see beyond fear of the unknown when it came to knowing someone else. But also finding something that was much closer to home and comfort than it even realized. // Zarthi was the love of taking it slow, taking someone in and finding something natural. // Jess was the first time Omura was able to reach out to a Force sect outside of its heritage (Jedi, Mandalorian, Togrutan) and learn more, while connecting with someone in the process. // Chomp was the most happenstance thing to ever happen and it blossomed into a love so fucking true that Omura was genuinely surprised that it was mutual, and wasted no time in ensuring that it felt the exact same. If there is love, and the love is real and mutual and trustworthy, then Omura will nurture it.
🍆: Omura is a very physically affectionate person, and honestly always has been. It's preferred to show its love and care by pressing close to others (if wanted) and purring to comfort them, gently "grooming" them or asking if they want to talk about what happened to upset them. Or just being a quiet pillar to lean on for a moment. Omura likes to bite and kiss and hug and hold (and lick, depending on who you are) when playful. Very much just!! Being present, reminding the other that it's there with them, rubbing cheeks or chinning against them, man I just think Omura really really likes holding people. A good small-space heater for the chilly, a good bed for littles to lay on, MAN!!!
🍰: Betrayal and/or being lied to. Cough cough. O66 AU. Omura was willing to kill all those it loved just to keep Anakin closeby, following him into Darkness and becoming his Grand Inquisitor, just for it to find out that Anakin lied. And boy did Omura fucking LOSE IT. Imagine that the Living Force, corrupted and twisted into a walking amalgamation of death and decay that siphons off life just by walking past someone .. who has taken great care to not physically touch you because it knows it will kill you .. has suddenly turned its cosmic eye to you and is in the process of tearing a wall of solid durasteel apart out of sheer incomprehensible rage. Because you lied. And you killed its loved ones.

The most confusing part of the sequel trilogy to me has always been the whole debacle of Rey’s parentage. For one because I think it would have been cool if she was Luke’s daughter and even now I’m like “couldn’t he have adopted her? Come on, let Luke be a dad…”
But also because it makes no sense??? They gave it this whole idea of it being weird that Rey wouldn’t be related to notable people, like that she had to be related to someone famous to be a powerful Jedi and that’s just not how the Force works!
Anakin Skywalker is literally the exception and not an exception to this rule because while yes, he is the Force’s kid, he is also Shmi Skywalker’s kid and does anyone know who the fuck Shmi Skywalker is??? Is Shmi Skywalker famous??? Is Shmi Skywalker a powerful Jedi???
You don’t need to be a powerful Jedi to give birth to a powerful Jedi, look at literally every single Jedi that was presented to us in the prequels, we literally don’t know ANY of their parents!!! Mace Windu isn’t related to a powerful Jedi that we know of! Yoda isn’t related to a Sith lord! Why does it matter that Rey’s parents were “nobody” like yeah bitch that’s every single Jedi ever.
Just because Anakin fucked around and had kids that doesn’t make him normal! And I feel like a strong case could be made that Anakin’s kids are strong because they’re the Force’s grandkids, not particularly because they were a Jedi’s kids, you know?
I just don’t understand! Why was it a big deal? Why did they have to make her related to Palpatine? Why did they have to make her related to anyone? Either make it the literal only option that makes sense (Luke) or cut it entirely! Yoda was powerful as fuck, he didn’t have to prove his parentage! Obi-Wan Kenobi was the best, and he didn’t have to prove to anyone anything! How come Rey has to be related to someone for her powers to make sense? Why can’t she just be weirdly powerful because goddamn the Force sometimes makes random people weirdly powerful? Why’s there got to be a reason?? Is Jedi power passed on by fucking nepotism in the sequel trilogy???
There are countless Jedi I could name that were powerful despite being related to fucking nobodies, why does it matter if Rey is the same way? And don’t say “well she’s the protagonist-“ because Obi-Wan is the protagonist of the prequels and we never have to have a big reveal about his grandma being a sith lord, so what gives??
But also there’s that line where someone asks Rey for her name or whatever and they don’t just accept “Rey” as an answer. People in Star Wars sometimes don’t have last names, what the fuck are they supposed to say?? Why the fuck do they need last names, they are weird fucking aliens they don’t need family names, what fucking sense does it make to force every character to have a last name?? Is Yaddle a fucking noob because she’s second-name-less? Would Chewbacca have been questioned? Why does Rey have to have a last name when she could just fucking not and live a perfectly happy life??
What the actual fuck is up with parentage in sequel Star Wars lore??? Leia was adopted by Bail Organa and Bail and Breha Organa both raised her therefore they are her parents. Owen and Beru both raised Luke, but we can assume they felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea of Luke calling them his parents. That doesn’t mean they raised him any less, obviously, Beru just didn’t have to be called “mom” to know she was raising a kid. Does parentage really actually matter though? Luke wanted to get off of Tatooine when he still thought he dad was freightor pilot. Leia was still part of the Galactic Senate before she knew her birth mother was a senator. Obi-Wan was a depressed man and, if anything, knowing who he was related to would have made him more depressed because he would’ve known who he disappointed.
Parentage and bloodlines and whatever don’t fucking matter in Star Wars. They’ve never mattered in Star Wars. We don’t know jackshit about where Han comes from genetically, but does that make him lesser? No! So why does Rey have to prove a blood relation to a powerful man to prove to the writers that she’s worth a damn?

angstpril day 10: don't look back
[ part 1 ] [ AO3 ]
Unfinished Business (pt. 2)
It didn't take much convincing at all to get the council to knight Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon holds the lightsaber in his hand, and it feels heavier than normal. Maybe it's his weakened state since Naboo, or maybe seeing his padawan kneeling before him, trying his hardest not to smile, is causing him to want to let this moment stretch out as long as he can. His moments are numbered, and this is one he wants to remember.
"Obi-Wan Kenobi," Qui-Gon says, igniting his lightsaber and lowering it to the shoulder of the boy he watched grow into a man. His face is illuminated in the darkened council chambers by the lightsabers of the council, who granted him this exception to knight his own padawan. Yoda stands beside him, and Qui-Gon taps into the calmness of his presence to get him through this moment. "By the right of the council; by the will of the Force; I dub thee," and he flicks his wrist, the delicate movement taking the braid off in a single hiss. "Jedi Knight of the Republic."
Qui-Gon watches the braid fall to the floor, and a polite smile spreads across Obi-Wan's face as he rises. There is cheering from the council, and Qui-Gon deactivates his lightsaber.
He lets Obi-Wan get whisked away by the crowd of his friends. The post-knighting celebration is always an exciting one and one that with any hope, Obi-Wan will not remember entirely the following day. (Mace made damn sure of that at Qui-Gon's own knighting. He still can't even think about cinnamon shots without feeling queasy).
He looks at his padawan-- former padawan who beams in his direction, his braid held tightly in his fingers. Pride blooms in Qui-Gon’s chest. The boy he raised from his youth now stands among his friends, some lacking their braids and others who are soon due. Their arms wrap around him and words of congratulations fill the air, and Qui-Gon has to resist the urge to run up to them and tell them how right they are. How Obi-Wan stepped up against a foe even he couldn’t defeat, and now he even inquired about taking on Anakin as his padawan in a few years if Qui-Gon is still feeling the effects of his injuries. He raised an excellent Jedi, true and good, but he must make sure Obi-Wan knows how good he is before Qui-Gon accepts his demise.
But will there even be time for that?
The question constantly lingers in his mind. He can feel the eyes of his council members who know the deal he made. He's been their constant study ever since he explained what had happened in that chamber. It feels like they're afraid to blink around him-- that one moment he'll be living and the next the Force will take him before their eyes. Had Qui-Gon known he would become a captive animal he would have succumbed to his rightful fate weeks ago.
A joke, he projects into the Force. Only a joke.
Maybe he will disappear in an instant-- it certainly feels that way sometimes. Ever since Naboo, he is at the very peak of a metaphorical mountain. Solid ground is virtually non-existent at this point, with only the treacherous cliffside around him if he wavers from his upright stance. He is posted up at the very edge of his Life Force. Yes, he can stand here almost comfortably, but even mountains weather over time. Soon he will have to fall and accept his entry into the Cosmic Force.
"They grow up so fast," the sardonic voice of his friend says, with a hand resting on his shoulder. He looks to Mace Windu who may be the only member of the council who isn't obsessed with his current existence. Or at least he hides it better.
"Indeed. One day I'm pulling him out of a fire beetle pit and the next he's besting a Sith in a duel."
"A testament to your lineage. With hope, your maverick ways weren't hereditary."
Qui-Gon chuckles. "If anything, it skips a generation."
"Then I'm not giving Kenobi any say in his padawan choice."
"Much like Yoda did for me then?"
Mace clears his throat, straightening up. Yes, maverick ways certainly skip a generation in this lineage. Yoda may be the worst of all, somehow even getting the Force on his side to do his bidding.
"The creche master sent a comm during the ceremony," the Master of the Order changes the subject ever so subtly. Qui-Gon perks up, looking at his friend.
"Is it--"
"It's Skywalker, yes."
Qui-Gon glances over at Obi-Wan, still in the midst of collecting praises.
"If Obi-Wan asks, I am stepping out for just a moment."
Windu nods, and Qui-Gon moves quietly away from the party.
The walk to the creche feels longer than normal. Perhaps it is his new philosophy to savor the moment he has left in his home. Walks through the temple are different now that he knows they are the last he will take. He looks at every art piece, glances into every room. Though he isn't spending as much time sightseeing, it still feels long.
His focus lies on Anakin now.
Qui-Gon is a hypocrite. He so often took the time to lecture about not reflecting on the past, and now here he is, wishing he could have done so many things differently. One such choice is how he dealt with young Anakin.
Impulsive is a word used on numerous occasions to describe him through his knighthood. Usually, he ignores such critiques since they so often come from senators with no concept of what it means to be a Jedi and know the Force... but this time they may have a point. At the time it felt like the right thing to do. Anakin was a slave with untapped potential and the answer to a prophecy he's been studying for years. He's undoubtedly the Chosen One who will save them from the darkness. But maybe if he'd just waited...
He strides into the dormitories to find Master Rose, Anakin's creche master, waiting patiently for him.
"Master Jinn," she says, her lips pressed together. "They're happening again."
He sighs. "Can I see him?"
She nods, stepping out of the way. The dormitories are just as he remembers from his own childhood. Rows of beds, little privacy, and always a little musty from the older younglings that aren't keen on hygiene yet. It's empty at this time of day-- Anakin has been granted additional rest hours because of the nightmares he's been having ever since his arrival at the Temple. A recommendation from his mind healer. The boy sits on the edge of his bed, arms wrapped around himself as though he's cold or simulating a hug. He only looks up at Qui-Gon when he approaches and sits next to him, his eyes rimmed red and nose running.
"Was it her again?" Qui-Gon asks softly, wrapping an arm around the boy. He leans into his side, sniffling in the process.
"Yes, Master Jinn."
"The same as the others?"
He feels the nod. Anakin has told him of his nightmares before. His mother, Shmi, sitting in the window staring out to the horizon. He calls for her, but she doesn't turn around. So he runs at her, only to be held back. The creche master would wake up to him screaming for her in the night. Pleading her to look at him. If his dream progresses enough, she does turn around, but she doesn't know him. Doesn't remember him. And then he screams louder-- but in despair.
"The mind healer told me it's because I'm attached," he looks up, his eyes a bright blue from crying. "Master Jinn, how can I not be attached to my mom?"
The question pangs in Qui-Gon's chest because truthfully, he doesn't know the answer to that question. Biological family is not something he's ever known or really put much thought into. The Jedi have always been his family, but not quite in the way that Anakin feels for his mother.
This is where his regret comes. He didn't consider the fallout of Anakin's attachment. Obi-Wan tried to warn him but he admittedly wasn't in the market for advice at that time. As much as he's trying to make things right by having the boy see a mind healer to cope with the change, he isn't sure the boy will ever figure out how to overcome his attachment. It worries him. He knows it worries the council. Obi-Wan has come around on the idea, but with the condition that he works with the healers.
"What is it you fear, Anakin?"
His face scrunched up. "What do you mean?"
"What do you fear."
"You said Jedi aren't supposed to fear."
Qui-Gon smiles. "You are a Jedi in training, young one. And Jedi do fear, they just know how to deal with it. How to release it and not let it affect their connection to the Force."
"Because fear is the dark side, right?"
"You learn quickly. Fear is not inherently the dark side, but it can lead to it. Now tell me, what is making you afraid?"
The boy takes a deep breath. "What if she... forgets about me?" As he speaks, his voice cracks. "What if she is hurt or needs help, and I... can't help her? I shouldn't have-- I shouldn't have left her all alone."
The tears come now, hot and fast. And stars, the Force... when Anakin cries just feels like it's crying with him.
Qui-Gon has learned that sometimes tears just need to flow. For the young, it is a necessary release. He lets Anakin have his moment, lets him collapse into his lap, and ball his robes in his little fists. Qui-Gon just sends calm sentiments through the Force, even though it feels like he's holding an umbrella to a gale. When his sobs turned to sniffles, Qui-Gon ruffles his fingers through the floppy blond strands of his hair. His dry heaving and hiccups shift to controlled breaths, and then the Jedi Master speaks.
"Now how do you feel?"
Anakin sniffles, sitting up again next to Qui-Gon. "A little... better."
"Your mind healer has told you to release your emotions, right? This--" He sets his hand lightly on the boy's chest. "--feeling you have. A weight off your shoulders, and your emotions calm. This is the feeling you are looking for."
"So I have to... cry when I meditate?"
The master smiles. "With much practice, you will find you can release any negative emotions with just your strength of mind. To be a Jedi is to be in control of these emotions. To think and act with a clear mind. Now tell me young one, these dreams. Your mother. Now that you have released your anxieties, what is it telling you?"
The boy looks up at him, eyes wide and bright from the residual tears. Anakin's lip quivers, but he bites the inside of his lip.
"Don't look back. She told me not to look back."
He nods. Qui-Gon remembers the moment vividly, Shmi's jaw set but face soft when Anakin looked at her. He could see her strength, her desire for Anakin to have a life better than his current one, but also her love for her son. When Anakin didn't turn around, Qui-Gon did. Shmi stared back, a smile still on her face and a nod in his direction. A promise--I will be okay-- and a request-- take care of him for me.
"Yes. Don't look back, look forward. If you learn the ways of the Jedi, learn to regulate your emotions, and become the great knight I feel you could be, then you will be making her proud. You are living the life that your mother wanted for you. I know you can feel that."
"I can feel it," he says softly. "I just... don't know if I should believe it."
"Trust in the Force, Ani. You've done it naturally all your life, and now it's time you learn to hone it. And don't look back."
"Look forward," Anakin finishes for him, pushing off the bed and standing. "I'll try, Master Jinn."
Do or do not, there is no try, his grandmaster's voice automatically replies in his mind. Qui-Gon walks with Anakin back out to see his creche master, who will take him to his next mind healing session.
And then he's alone walking back to the council chambers. When he's alone, he is aware of the ticking chrono constantly ringing in his ears. It grows louder with every day he awakes, every additional moment he strongarms his way through. Maybe Qui-Gon would wonder what this world would look like had he perished in that chamber, but he need not wonder.
It's what he hasn't yet told a soul, and it weighs on him. When he held on for dear life to that final thread of life, he saw a future clad in darkness. Light and dark clashing in a heated fury of heartbreak and loss. It was cold, laced with pain and treachery he could hardly comprehend. This was a future of suffering, and he has woken in a cold sweat every night since he felt it.
If he died in that chamber, the galaxy would suffer. He tries to tell himself what Shmi told her son-- don't look back-- but the very idea of such a shatterpoint over his existence is horrifying. He can't help it. But it's given him a reason to do what he can to fix this mess he has created. To prevent that pit of despair he could feel in the shadow of his former padawan's future. To preserve the light that shines so brightly within a boy who had every reason to live in darkness. Don't look back-- Force, but what if he had died? What if he was too slow, too weak to keep himself from going into that light?
He stops outside the council chambers, sitting on the bench and breathing deeply. The sounds of celebration still rage in the next room, and from here Qui-Gon can feel Obi-Wan and the gratification that has made his Force presence feel like a raging bonfire. It's warm, inviting, and feels as though it could burn for an eternity.
So much to tell him. So much to share. His learning as a padawan may have stopped, but now his future as a great Jedi knight lies before him. But he clutches his chest, feeling like his breath has been stolen from his lungs. The hallway seems to spin, and Qui-Gon knows he is teetering over the edge of that cliffside. So much to share. So much to do. But the Force has waited long enough.

Not Even That Hard
Summary: When you're the Chosen One it is only natural for things to come easily.
Links: Ao3 and FF.net
Author’s Note: Warnings for use of second person because sometimes a story pops into your head fully-formed and you have enough time to write it down or to convince your brain it should be in third person but not both. Also, warning for the double entendre inherent in this title/the recurring phrase throughout this story; it crossed my mind way too late and I’m not changing it.
Dedicated to Liz/@bpdanakins who has spoken with me about so much Star Wars stuff and who also loves seeing Anakin get to be incredibly overpowered. Here’s a story where Anakin gets to be as overpowered as I could make him at 1:30 AM.
It wouldn’t even be that hard.
When you reflect back years later, that’s the first thing you can remember thinking. The memory is fuzzy and you’re not sure how old you are (4? 5?), but you very clearly remember seeing Watto and your mother trying to piece together some broken droid that has been causing him grief for the past hour at least. You can see exactly which pieces are supposed to go where and which wires are crucial and which can be cut and tossed aside. It would only take you a few minutes to have it back together and working better than it had before. You couldn’t explain how you knew that or why it felt so important that you fix this particular droid, but it did. So you got up, singled out the piece that would fit perfectly with the one Watto was currently holding, and went over to your master with the appropriate tool. The droid was fixed in just under 16 minutes. Watto let you and your mother leave a few minutes early that day and she treated you to a ruby bliel. You didn’t know that your mechanical skills would make you valuable to Watto for years to come or that fixing that droid had saved you from being sold off and separated from your mother. All you knew then and ever would, is that fixing droids wasn’t even that hard.
****************************************************************************************************
“It wouldn’t even be that hard.”
After all, podracing was just flying but faster and the couple of times your mother had let you pilot Watto’s speeder had gone without a single crash. Surely podracing would come just as easily as those short trips around Mos Espa had been. After declaring that surely you could win a podrace, you could tell from your mother’s face you had said something wrong and from Watto’s that you had said something incredibly right. Your heart clenched for a moment because surely nothing good was coming when Mom made that face (admittedly, it would be better than what followed Watto’s disapproving face), but then the winning pod came around the final bend and crossed the finish line and your heart soared and you were filled with the certainty that podracing would not be that hard at all.
****************************************************************************************************
It wouldn’t even have been that hard if it weren’t for the blasted autopilot, you thought as you hopped out of the yellow cockpit, ready to celebrate with the other overjoyed, if confused, Naboo pilots. Surely the professional pilots would have figured it out sooner or later. After all, you are only 9, almost 10, and had never been in one of those ships before and you had pulled it off. It would be crazy if they hadn’t been able to do it. But then you see Obi-Wan and he looks sad and Qui-Gon is nowhere to be found and something in you screams that now isn’t the time to say how not hard blowing up the Trade Federation’s ship had been.
****************************************************************************************************
“It wouldn’t even be that hard, Obi-Wan. Why don’t they just speed up?” Obi-Wan gives you a mixture of a confused and reproachful look, one you know means that he will have follow-up questions for you once you are out of earshot of the other padawans and their masters but that until then you need to stop saying such rude things.
Just as you had expected, the second you and Obi-Wan round the corner and can no longer see or be seen by the older padawans, Obi-Wan asks, “What do you mean, Padawan?”
“Well, their masters are telling them to double the speed of their lightsaber drills, but all of them start making easy mistakes once they speed up. Why are they making the mistakes? It’s easy to do those forms.” You don’t mean to sound prideful (Obi-Wan always reminds you that pride is not the Jedi way and you’re really trying to be a good Jedi), but you’ve sped up your own drills to four times the speed they were taught to you and you’ve managed to avoid making the same obvious mistakes that those much older padawans are making. Why couldn’t those beings just not mess up?
Obi-Wan seems even more confused now that you’ve tried to explain your previous comment, but that doesn’t stop him from starting in on a lecture about pride and patience and how mastery takes time. You ignore most of it in favor of slowly moving back into a position where you can watch the padawans who keep making mistakes even though you know deep within your heart that surely it isn’t that hard.

This isn’t that hard, you think as you look around you at the ship that is hurtling towards the planet below you. You’ve flown plenty of ships and been in quite a few crashes and keeping this particular ship from crashing should not be that difficult, even if it is more or less falling apart with each passing second. You look to your unconscious master in the seat next to you and the scared orphans behind you and then to the controls in front of you and despite the despair that you feel within the Force, you find that all you feel is confidence. This ship may be about to crash, but stopping it from doing so won’t be that hard.
****************************************************************************************************
This is incredibly hard, you think as you try and try and try and keep trying to not kiss Senator Padmé Amidala. This is so incredibly hard.
****************************************************************************************************
This won’t even be that hard. This won’t even be that hard. This won’t even be that hard. Your inner mantra as you lead your own legion into battle is at odds with everything else around you. Inside you know that you can easily weather the battle that is about to ensue, but you are equally certain that some of your men, perhaps many of them, will not. Christophsis is shaping up to not be an easy planet to take and the Force is practically screaming at you to prepare yourself for something big when Cody runs up beside you and points out the droids rounding the corner, ready for another round of battle. “They’re back!”, you call out to your master, already preparing to make a snarky comment about how you hadn’t wanted to send the ship back for supplies, all the while keeping up your refrain of ‘this won’t even be that hard’s in your head.
****************************************************************************************************
“It won’t even be that hard, Snips. I promise.” You don’t have to turn around to see Ahsoka to know that she is shooting you her patented annoyed look that has become so characteristic of her despite how little time you two have spent together so far. You know that Balmorra Run is supposedly one of the more difficult runs a pilot can attempt, what with the Neebray mantas and all, but you’re Anakin Skywalker and surely it won’t be that hard. After all, you’ve never met a pilot who wasn’t at least passingly familiar with over exaggerating their flying prowess and you’re a Jedi Knight and have the Force to guide you and your men through. Surely it won’t be that hard.
****************************************************************************************************
You thought ending the war would have been so much harder than it is turning out to be. Of course the operation on the Invisible Hand hasn’t been without its issues and you know killing Dooku was not the Jedi way, but if his death was necessary to bring about an end to the war, it will have been worth it. But even your concerns about Dooku are drowned out by the confidence that is coursing through your veins just as surely as your blood does as you, Obi-Wan, and Palpatine race back towards your rendevouz with Artoo. Soon the four of you will be together and will be able to defeat Grievous, get off this ship, and end the Clone War. Your final thought before you are trapped within ray shields is this: Turns out it’s not even that hard to end a war.
****************************************************************************************************
It wouldn’t even be that hard.
You know exactly where and how you would strike to stop the lightning leaving Palpatine’s fingers and electrocuting Windu. You can think of half a dozen ways that would incapacitate, but not kill, your mentor and exponentially more that would rid the galaxy of the Sith once and for all. In terms of technical skill, stopping Darth Sidious would be easy. But your emotions are in control now, not your 13 years of lightsaber training, not the moral compass your mother instilled in you, not the countless hours you have spent in strategy meetings. In this moment it is the love you feel for your wife and your unborn child that is in control and that makes you pause and realize that it would actually be the hardest thing you have ever done to stop Darth Sidious from killing Jedi Master Mace Windu. (So you don’t. You choose to take the easy way out instead.)
****************************************************************************************************
It wouldn’t even be that hard, you think as you realize exactly what shot the rebel pilot is trying to make to blow up the Death Star. When he manages to make it, you scoff because you could have done it from double the distance with triple the number of enemy fighters on you on a bad day.
****************************************************************************************************
It won’t even be that hard, you think as you consider how you will get your son to join you to overpower Sidious. After all, he is your blood and there is nothing more important than family. Luke Skywalker will surely see that.
****************************************************************************************************
It won’t even be that hard, you try to reassure yourself as you prepare to face your son for the first time since Bespin. You have imagined how you will meet him again countless times over the past year but somehow none of them included Luke turning himself in. It won’t even be that hard. It won’t even be that hard. It won’t even be that hard.
****************************************************************************************************
It won’t be that hard, you think as you watch your master and abuser electrify your son while he pleads for your help. It has been many years since you last performed a kind, selfless act and you think that perhaps kindness is like a muscle that can atrophy, but as you move forward and throw your master off of your son whom you are just now realizing you loved more than you have ever loved anything else before, you find that the part of Anakin Skywalker that was selfless has not died, but instead been hidden away and kept safe for the moment it would be needed again. Thankfully, sacrificing yourself is nowhere near as hard as living as Darth Vader ever was.
****************************************************************************************************
Joining with the Force is the least hard thing you have ever done and following Obi-Wan’s guidance for how to join him and Yoda on Endor to look over the Rebel celebration is only slightly more difficult. After years and years of each living moment being torture, this comes with an eery ease. Hmm.., you think wryly as you survey your two ghostly companions and those surrounding your children as they celebrate their victory, in the end balancing the Force wasn’t even that hard.

Author’s Note: I can thank this story for being the reason that I learned ‘Nubian’ did not mean ‘from Naboo’ but is actually a reference to a completely different planet/system and it’s just a coincidence that people from Naboo fly Nubian ships and the two actually have nothing to do with each other. I now have to live with the fact that I’ve been assuming anything from Naboo was Nubian for over a decade, so that’s fun.
The bit about the Balmorra Run is from TCW 1x03.
But seriously, when was someone going to tell me that Jar Jar wasn’t wrong when he referred to the people from Naboo as ‘the Naboo’?

OK, so I’ve processed the movie (and had a yummy supper of lasagna) so here’s my thoughts on the Rise of Skywalker.
WARNING SPOILERS AND MAJOR RATING AHEAD:
So overall, I liked it.  I feel like it went fast but I was fine with the pace.  I agree that regulating Rose to a background character when she could have been with the “trio” would have made sense but I felt JJ did that to bring the idea that Finn and Rey could now face their feelings and be a couple which I think they should do.  They make more sense than the OTHER “romantic couple” which I will deal with.  I though Zorri and Poe’s banter was cute and I wasn’t bothered by it since they had a past and obviously still cared about each other.  did it come out of nowhere? Maybe but then again it made sense since I felt they were trying to “buff up” Poe since he didn’t get a lot of backstory in the first two films besides “he’s a pilot for the resistance”.
Now the reylo crap.  Yes, I called it crap because that’s what it was pure crap.  it was soooooo rushed and forced.  they had zero interactions that could be even remotely called romantic in that film it was all “I’m coming for you” and “NOOOO I’ll never join you!”.  Yeah she healed him but it felt more like “Oppsie, I just killed Leia’s son.  Let me fix this since I’m so good and pure that I’d heal my enemies.  Yes, I do that since I’m the most perfect and pure of all the Jedi.  I have not a mean bone in my body!”  And no I’m not buying the whole “dyad” bs either.  Their bond was forced upon them by Snoke plus they showed no signs of it until their minds were FORCED TOGETHER by Snoke (”it was I who bridged your minds!’).  I think Palpatine told Ben that to get him to convince Rey to join him as he manipulated them to think they were in “love”.  She didn’t even give two shits he died by giving his lifeforce to her.  Not one tear.  It was all “whelp, a guy I “love” just gave his life to me so I’m gonna hop on back in his uncle’s ship that he gave me, return to my big old found family, then go bury his mom and uncle’s lightsabers on the family farm!  Oh, and while I’m at it, I’m a Skywalker!  Yep, I’m taking the name of his family who couldn’t even bother to come to his aid when he needed them!  Aren’t I such a hero?  And the whole “wanted to take Ben’s hand, not yours” line?  BITCH YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HIM!  Just a film ago he was a monster to you!  You only felt bad for him when he told you what really happened to him.  and you still thought he was a monster up until he repaid you the favor you did of healing him.  The scene where they kissed felt so fake and like such an afterthought to give the Reylos what they wanted, their big old kiss!  it was so gross.
And they so botched Ben’s arc in that story.  He got a short end of the stick the entire film, no the entire trilogy.  Luk only really reached out to him once (on Crait to save the resistance some time).  Leia only did at the very end, not once during the entire time he was suffering, when she knew old Grampy Palpy was torturing her only son.  Anikan never did, Obi-wan, the man he was named after, never did, not Mace Windu, not Qui-Gon, not Ezra Bridger, no one.  NOT ONE SINGlE JEDI CAME TO HIS AID AT ALL.  The only one who did was his dad and he wasn’t even a force ghost but a memory (fuck did I ever bawl my eyes out in that scene!).  He got no send off, he wasn’t honored or mourned, again Rey didn’t even cry.  It was all “ding dong, Ben is dead! no one gives a fuck!”  He died as he had always felt, alone.
In the end, this is the end.  The last film.  I don’t feel like it was a good ending but not much I can do besides write fanfics to fix this.  Expect them hopefully soon and may the force be with you .
