context: "Joint Jinx Keystone” (JJK), a band that consists of Geto, Gojo, Yuji and Megumi. Geto, the drummer, found a lovely partner (cough you) and is happy with how the relationship is going, hoping to spend more time with you and relax. Suguru is 22, Satoru is 21, and both Megumi and Yuji are 19.

Drummer! Geto, who can hang out with you in silence. Your presence is enough for him to feel at ease and relax. He could even fall asleep with his head on your shoulder or lap, not bothering to ask since he already knows you won’t oppose it. Drummer! Geto, who likes to see you in his clothes, especially his oversized shirts, not wasting time telling you how much he loves how you look with them on (or off), “You look so good, baby.”, he said to you. Drummer! Geto, who’s main love language is physical touch. He will hug you from behind while you're doing tasks, talking to people or even in bed. Definitely big spoon most of the time, wanting to have you as close to him as possible. Drummer! Geto, who may not tell you but he’s a jealous man. He sees you talking with someone? He will walk towards you and wrap an arm around your waist, pulling you close to him, and staring down the person you were talking to, while also placing his head on your shoulder. Drummer! Geto, who likes to hold hands while you are going out or walking with him. He's the type to intertwine fingers, not only hold your hand. He will also make sure to kiss the top of your hand from time to time, or squeeze softly to get your attention, “You are a sucker for physical touch.”, you teased. Drummer! Geto, who is not really into that much PDA but small kisses on the lips from time to time in public. Maybe the casual makeout, but nothing too extra. Of course what he does not do in public, he gives back in private. He prefers to see your reactions in a more intimate setting.

Drummer! Geto, who knows you like hanging out with him and Satoru, so he invites you to almost all hangouts he has with him. Flat out asked you if you wanted to live in their studio with him (Suguru and Satoru share a studio home). Drummer! Geto, who knows that Satoru is the most popular member of the band, has multiple people on him, but is glad you aren’t one of them. Trusting you 100% in everything you do, whether alone or with him. Drummer! Geto, who puts himself down when the band fails at something, blaming and putting all the load on himself. His bandmates tell him it's not his fault, but he can’t help but think it is. Shutting himself off to even you, not wanting to listen to logic.

Drummer! Geto, who you find sitting in a room alone, staring at a wall, looking tired and beat down. Sitting beside him and just waiting for him to say something. Sometimes all he needs is to not be alone, so your presence is enough to make him feel at least the tiniest bit better.

Drummer! Geto, who when he does want to talk about what happened, he likes when you let him hug you or rest his head on your chest while he tells you what is going on in his mind, or what makes him sad. Of course you let him, hugging him back and listening to him oh-so closely.

Drummer! Geto, who after breaking down and telling you everything, finally relaxes and lets himself go for a while. Thanking you with small kisses all over your body and affirmations. “Thank you… you are all I need.., my sweetheart…”, he would say between kisses, making you blush but grateful for the way he is.

Drummer! Geto, who loves to have you in between his legs, no matter where you are sitting, he has a comfortable lap and knows it (you tell him). Sitting between his legs, his arms wrapped around your lower abdomen, head on your shoulder. He is either just breathing, talking or leaving soft kisses. Drummer! Geto, who loves to see you in the crowd while he and his band are playing at a concert. He waves and smiles at you, signaling you to go to the VIP room when the concert is done. Hugging you and overall being happy the concert is done and you are in his arms once again.

Drummer! Geto, who knows you love the way he plays the drums and tries to learn your favorite songs to play them for you. Which of course makes you happy and that's why he does it, to see you happy.

Drummer! Geto, who teaches you the components of the drum set, what different sounds the instruments make, from the bass drum to the cymbals. Having you sit in his chair, while he guides your hands with the drumstick from behind to hit the right places to make a sound. Pressing his chest on your back for support as he helped you.

Drummer! Geto, who melts at the sight of you trying to play the drums while he’s not there. You decided to try to learn his favorite song to surprise him, he figured it out but kept it a secret from you, wanting to let you practice and ‘surprise’ him. Once you learn (to the best of your abilities), you show him and see how proud he was of you and happy that you took time off of your day to learn something he likes.

Drummer! Geto, who when he sees you right after showering or when you wake up just goes, “Damn.”, as he stares at you. Calling you over to where he is for a kiss or to wrap his arms around your waist bringing you closer to him. Drummer! Geto, who unlike Satoru, does not show you off to anyone, or brags about you. He prefers to have his love (you) to himself, of course his bandmates know you guys are dating, but he almost never talks about you in an egotistical manner. Drummer! Geto, who loves to cook for you or with you. Everytime you are over at his and Gojo’s place, he cooks for you, whatever you want (as long as the ingredients are at home). He also loves to cook with you, he gets everything ready and even gets you matching aprons so you don't get your clothes dirty.

Drummer! Geto, who lets you, and only you, brush his hair. He loves it when you do his hair, when you brush his hair or anything that has to do with head massages. Especially if he has his head on your lap or is sitting in between your legs but on the floor.

Drummer! Geto, who knows how to take care of you when you are sick. Going to your place with some food, medicine, your favorite sweets or dessert and staying with you the whole day. You watch your favorite shows with him and enjoy his company, as does he.

Drummer! Geto, who takes ideas from you (with your permission) and incorporates them into the songs he writes with Satoru for the band. He loves to hear your ideas, and loves to put them in the songs, not only to remind him of you but also because you always have amazing ideas… Well, at least that's what he says.

Drummer! Geto, who gets matching tattoos with you. Something that matters to both of you, something that reminds him of you (and vice versa), something that makes you both very happy to have and be able to share. Sitting beside you and holding your hand while you are getting tattooed as moral support. Saying, “You are doing great sweetheart” or “It’s almost over, ok?” in that sweet voice of his.

Drummer! Geto, who takes the role of the “dad of the group” every time he’s out with you and his bandmates. “Yuji!!” Geto screams at the boy from afar. Poor Yuuji, his name being called the most when trying to do something stupid. Satoru does not go unnoticed though, he was the one hyping up Yuuji to do something stupid after all, earning him a glare from Suguru. Drummer! Geto, who has an amazing goth/punk (alt) style while dressing. No matter the occasion, weather or time, he will always have a great fit, and always helps you with yours (if you want that is). He loves your style, but loves it more when you are matching with him.

Drummer! Geto, who even though he loves you very dearly, the band is above you when it comes to priorities. After all, he was the one who came up with the idea, and he met you way after the band was established and started. Drummer! Geto, who tries to atone for the fact that he puts you after the band by planning dates, making you gifts and spending quality time with you. He knows that won’t help that much, but he can't help but take care of his band and you.

Summary: y/n is a single mother who starts dating a hockey player. Months into the relationship, she begins falling in love with said player, but the last thing she was expecting was her daughter to love him too to the point of asking Anthony to be her father.

Being a “single mother” -as people liked to call it- wasn’t easy. Especially considering y/n has been doing it since she was eighteen years old, all by herself, granted she had her parent’s help, but she wanted to take the responsibility and although she counted on her dad to take care of Madison during finals, or her mom to pick up the kid on daycare while she was busy with work, y/n used to do everything in her power to not fill her parents with her duties. For four years she only had time for Madison and her work, the former being her main priority since the beginning, so that meant not only didn’t y/n have time for boyfriends, but she also didn’t want to. She didn’t want to risk getting heartbroken again and now involving her daughter in the process, she didn’t want to spend her energy getting to know someone only to realize that he was not the one, that he wouldn’t be a good person to keep around her kid. So she carried on happily going with things, proud of her growth, proud of her baby girl, proud of everything she had accomplished, and she was sure there wouldn’t be anybody else for a long time, that life would consist only of her and Madison…until Anthony came around.

She was afraid at first because being around Anthony made her feel safe and cared about, and what if things don’t work out? What if Maddie doesn’t like him? Her head was full of “what if’s”, but not for long whereas Tito was fast to brush them away, he talked and talked, and told her about how he felt and how he wanted to get into her life and meet Madison, and how he respected her decision whatever it was and he would wait patiently, always.

And that he did.

Their relationship would only get stronger with time, both of them had now on each other a shoulder to lean on, and while Tito didn’t meet Maddie y/n would tell him everything about the kid, her likes and dislikes, her favorite color, what she hated and what would make her giggle. And weren’t Anthony falling even harder after all these details?! Every passing month there was the hope that this would be the one where he would meet the kid, where he and y/n would finally let all their walls down. It was a couple of months, but he was understanding.

After all, all this waiting and anguish proved to be worth it when he first met Madison. Your shy four year old fell in love instantly with Anthony and he became part of your life completely. Not only did he know Maddie, but she actually enjoyed his company and he proved to be great with kids. Tito would have tea parties with her and they would watch movies together whenever she asked him because he would give in just that easily, she would ask him whatever she wanted and he would gladly answer yes.

That’s how y/n ended up getting ready for a movie theater night on her free day from work. Frozen II was finally out on the theater and Madison wanted to watch the sequel. No doubt, she wanted Beau to be there because they would watch the first one together on the couch whenever he visited. Over the moon because Anthony was joining the movie theater that night she asked to wear her favorite overalls and held tight to her stuffed dragon Beauvillier gifted her a while ago.

When Beauvillire rings the bell, Madison runs so fast to open the door y/n can’t help but laugh. He’s standing there holding a bag of something and y/n instantly knows it's for Maddie because he loves to spoil her and she can smell the sugar from afar.

“Hey, little one!” there's a bright smile on his face, a full and big smile she came to realize he doesn’t use with everyone. “I got you and mommy some chocolate chip cookies from my favorite coffee shop,” he crouches down to her level and she smiles before wrapping her little arms around him and saying a shy thank you. He gets up and y/n hugs him too, leaving a small peck on his lips.

After settling Madison on the baby car seat he bought specially for her -his nephew and niece being way too small for the seat- they drove to the theater. The whole ride there’s some calm music playing while Madison goes on about how Frozen 2 is gonna be cool and she can’t help but watch it, while Tito agrees and they discuss theories -because yes, she got him into the movie just like she does with everyone around, Madison was this charismatic.

The night went on smoothly, the three of them shared a medium popcorn bucket, Tito drank orange juice with Maddie while y/n went with water and they shared a bag of skittles close to the end of the movie. He would smile at y/n every once in a while and hold her hand, but his focus was mainly on Maddie because she seemed so happy and energetic, she was glowing and so was y/n because Madison’s happiness was hers too.

When the movie was over y/n went to the bathroom and Maddie waited for her mother with Beau, her small hands being swallowed by his and y/n couldn’t help but notice how they looked for the people passing by. They looked like father and daughter. Y/n took her time washing her face and fixing her hair since the two times she came to the bathroom during the movie was to take Maddie to pee. After washing and drying her hands she got out and the scene in front of her melted her heart. Madison is now on Tito’s arms, head rested on his shoulder and eyes closed, her face seems so peaceful y/n instantly knows she’s in her deep slumber, she smiles walking to them.

“Hey,” it's a whisper, even though the place is full of people and there’s noise enough to wake Madison.

“Hey, there” he answers, giving y/n one of his signature smiles, “she seemed tired and she asked me to hold her, is she asleep?” he asked, turning a bit so she could see Maddie’s face.

“Yup, it usually takes forever for her to sleep outside especially when it’s noisy around,” y/n points out and he smiles shyly. “Thank you,” she whispers holding his free hand and Tito blinks at her.

“No need to thank me, y/n. You know I love her,” he voices while holding her close. He motions for y/n to grab his hand when she starts to walk to the parking lot, their fingers thread together and his hold is warm, Tito always feels so warm. There’s the safety sensation around, he makes y/n’s heart warm too and she knows it’s real love, she knows she was finally the lucky one.

It’s only months later, Tito being around more than ever, that Maddie decides that she wants him to come to the parent's reunion at school. Tito only went to Madison’s school a couple of times, most of them to either drop her or get her after classes, only two of them for her recital/presentation. That being said, it would only take a bat of an eyelash and a pout for Tito to do whatever she wanted, so that's how y/n found herself sitting together at a small chair sided by Anthony who held Madison on his lap. She had this big smile on her face, and her expression only grew prideful when the kindergarten teacher dropped some drawings and exercises on the table.

“As I was saying, Maddie is such a great kid. She’s fast to learn, always curious, and ready to help others” the teacher smiles at both of you.

“Look, daddy!!! I made this one just yesterday, it’s me, you, and mommy!!” Madison kept explaining the colorful sheet and y/n could see the doubtful expression her boyfriend gave her as if asking if that was ok.

Tito smiled attentively at Maddie’s explanation. He dropped a kiss on her forehead and y/n smiled without really knowing what to do. The teacher went on talking about Madison, mainly good things, while Tito nodded his head and eventually asked some things. Y/n only had the energy to say goodbye at the end of the meeting and try to pretend she wasn’t shocked while Tito drove them home.

Their routine went on, they would have dinner together, maybe watch a movie or play with Madison, she would fall asleep easily afterwards and Tito and y/n would take the time to enjoy each other all alone. This time however, both of them were distracted by what Madison kept calling Anthony.

“Baby, why are you calling Tito your daddy?” y/n asked once they got home and changed, Madie sitting between both of them, small eyes focused on the screen.

“because, mommy, in school one of my friends told me that a daddy is someone who takes care of you, gets you to school and reads for you to sleep…daddy Tito also loves me, right?” She looked over at him as if waiting for confirmation and he smiled and nodded.

“I do love you, sweetheart.”

Your heart melted when she climbed closer to him and laid her head on his chest.

“You can be my daddy, right?!” she asked, looking at him, curiosity and hope all over her small eyes. Anthony caressed her curly hair, kissed her forehead and looked briefly at y/n as if asking. Y/n’s heart skipped a beat when Madison asked again and she couldn’t help but nod to him. She knew he loved both of them, knew he would be a permanent figure in their lives. He was kind, generous and caring. He was everything Madie needed in a father figure and he was also everything you once looked for in a lover.

“Of course, sweetheart, I would love to be your daddy,” his reply is soft and y/n can see some tears streaming down his face. Madison is quick to notice as well, and her kid brain cannot help but ask: “are you sad, daddy?? What happened?”

“I’m not sad, love. These are happy tears. Daddy is really happy to have you and your mom, that’s all,” he explains and y/n feels her face wet. Madison hugs him tight and Beauvillier extends his arms, opening space for his girlfriend. The three of them hug, the adults knowing they’ll eventually have a deeper conversation about the topic, and Madison happy to have the family she always dreamt about.

Love was really an open door and y/n had just pushed it wider to walk in with her daughter and Anthony.

Description: Your a Jujutsu sorcerer who can manipulate memories and emotions. Its a curse that has been placed upon you, where no matter what the emotions of others has been placed upon you. There is an obvious condition to this tremendous power, however. Yuji, being a vessel is pretty immune to all things that may tamper his soul... could this be a match made in heaven?

Genre: Friends to lovers. Short story.

You waved goodbye to your companion that escorted you to school for the entire semester for the last time and walked into your room. Taking a deep breath and dropping your bag.

You were finally back, in Jujutsu Tech High School. You missed all of your friends, especially Maki, the one person in the world with the ability to humble you. Sure, you couldn’t spend too much time with her because of your curse. Stupid curse.

It dictated everything in your life, but it was a part of your life now and it would be the only thing tying you to her now. What was your curse? Great question, you always found yourself thinking about it. Trying to understand the complexities of it.

Your mother was a part of the Saturo clan but never inherited any powers. They resented her and refused to let her live her life in peace. She wanted to see the world and find love, so she left Japan and fled to America, where her family could no longer control her. She never kept in touch with anybody, because no one ever reached out to her.

She had you with your father, who was tragically killed in an accident, you never met him, so it wasn’t hard to overlook him, you were too young to mourn him. But not your mother, she loved him and he was the sole reason she could live a normal life. Your mother pledged for you to have the same, simple life, with no curses and crazy people trying to kill you.

You visited a shaman twice a year for a cleansing and there were talismans on almost every entrance of our tiny home. She was doting, but she loved you and you loved her, she was the sole purpose of your life. She was patient, compassionate, elegant, and happy. Your life was perfect, in a weird kind of way, and you owed it all to her. You never knew what cursed energy was, or what curses could do, until that one day.

You had come back from junior high, and when you expected your mother to greet you- you were met with silence. It was eerie and unusual for her not to come out or yell a ‘welcome home (y/n)-chan!’ When you had walked in to check on her you saw her in a pool of her own blood, her lifeless body on the cold kitchen floor. Her chest being the main reason. There was a hole in it….

You grimaced at the thought as you looked at a picture of you two together, that was taken at your tennis game in 4th grade, you had won 2nd place and your mother was ecstatic. You placed the picture down. Drowning in your thoughts, now being left with them since there was no work for you. Gojo- your uncle, tried to keep you safe and away from your own raging emotions, but he should have known better than to leave you with a clear schedule for the week.

Your curse forced you to close yourself off from others, you could manipulate the emotions of others, their repressed emotions, usually fear, hatred and regret. You forced it out of them. It was a horrible curse to say the least, to yourself and others. It was such an invasion of privacy, in your own opinion. Even when you did control yourself, you were a walking magnet, it wasn’t so easy to keep away from people who didn’t know how to protect their souls. Many of your past partners resented you because of it, even if they didn’t understand it. You felt it was better they felt that, then maybe they’d move on and find a peaceful life to settle down and live their own ordinary lives. That Brought you peace, knowing that your curse pushed others away, you could still control how others perceived themselves.

Your mother- out of love, cursed you.

It wasn’t intentional. Her last words were, while she choked in her blood were, “Never… f-forget… to..to…con..si-sider..th… e-emo..tions..of..oth..ers…ca..rry..the..m..wi..th..y-you.”

You clenched your hands, couldn’t she have gone quietly? Then you wouldn’t have been haunted with the thought of her dying, just the peaceful smile on her face, while she passed. No more normal school to keep you busy, you really hoped Gojo-sensei had a mission for you, soon.

You laid in bed and stared into the ceiling and remembered the normal and happy memories that you two shared, instead of the bad ones. At least that’s what your counselor told you. You rested your eyes, the long drive had killed you. Strange how your body screams fatigue when it knows it’s getting a break soon. You chuckled at yourself; ‘kinda like when you have to use the bathroom, you don’t really have to go until you get home.’

Yes, it did get lonesome, but it was for the good of others. Perhaps your mother didn’t want you to be alone, she wanted you to always have others. Fat luck you have though. Now stuck to a life with curses and the majority of your life in solitude. One day you’d break the curse, but for right now, you’d try your best to get some rest.

You probably got 2 hours of sleep before something disturbed the little bit of sleep you got.

A knock at the door. You were pleased for the peaceful 2 hours. You groaned as your body resisted in getting up, managing yourself and getting up to open the door, you saw the dumb grin of your uncle’s face and a child with faded pink hair. Still groggy with sleep in your eyes, you looked between them and went to shut the door. Your uncle laughed and used his palm to keep it open.

“Don’t tell me you aren’t happy to see me!” He huffed jokingly.

You rolled your eyes and opened the door and leaned on it. You were in your pajamas, long baggy shirt and shorts that couldn’t be seen under it. “I rather greet people in something other than my pajamas, Gojo-san.” He introduced you to Itadori Yuji, he waved and gave you a small smile.

“Oi! The kid that ate Sukuna’s finger?” You exclaimed, completely alert now. Gojo smiled and stepped forward, hinting to let them in. You sighed and obliged. They took a seat by your desk, Gojo leaning on it and Itadori sitting in the chair. You huffed and opened your window a crack and sat on your bed, not facing them.

“What do you want this time?” You knew it wasn’t an order from the higher-ups, more of a personal favor. “Well, (y/n)-chan, Itadori here needs to prove to the geezers on top that he can control his curse in any condition, going through any emotion, any situation. They don’t want him depending on Sukuna for anything. And who else could I think of but you!” He responded too eagerly.

You turned to eye Itadori- the vessel. “No way.” You responded and grabbed a pillow to hug.

“Itadori. Do you have any idea who I am? What can I do to others?” He hummed, actually pondering the question. You sighed, ‘they were both idiots, apparently.’

“Not at all, (y/n)-senpai!” He responded confidently, you blushed proudly at his addition to your name. Senpai? Had a nice ring to it. Maki would smack the pride of it right out of you if she were here. Gojo hummed, “The less he knows, the better the higher-ups will take it, if he does well.” He explained, picking up a new cute eraser you got from your desk, inspecting it. You propped your head on your palm, leaning your elbow in the pillow.

“I don’t really have a choice do I?” You muttered, realizing why your schedule was cleared. He grinned, “Nope!”

And here you were at the training grounds, training with Itadori. He was stretching, while you waited for Gojo’s instructions. The sun felt nice, the day not being too hot or too cold. Your uniform felt nice, it was heavy in a pleasant way. The way the skirt hugged your thighs and your cropped blazer with short collar made you feel imperial.

“OK, kiddos-“ he said in English, “Yuji, you will fight (y/n) in her Innate domain, she can control the reality you see. Your goal will be to stay calm and wait for to lower it when she deems it worthy!” He grinned, “Fair enough, (y/n)?” He asked cutely, you ’tsk’ at him and nodded. Getting into position as you saw Itadori stand and face you.

You raised 2 fingers up, concentrating your energy, “Manifestation of reality”, you might have been doing this for Itadori, but it was good practice for yourself, not being too skilled to use it so often in battle. As the real world began to crumble, your eyes glimmered the same ice blue as Gojo. The reality in front of us began to change, into a fabricated white space. Looking at your opponent, you were flooded with most of his memories, good and bad. You thought you’d start with a pleasant one to trick him into a falsehood of safety.

Hiding in plain sight of his memories. The first being of him and his grandfather, picking out a cake. You were the cashier.

In your innate domain, you could control what was being seen and felt, so to Itadori, he felt like a child again, statue, weight and sight, but to you, he was still the same. He looked curiously at his hands, confused, but then distracted by the cakes in front of him. In the original memory, Itadori didn’t pay much mind to the cashier, so you took that as your cue to imbue yourself to look like one, he didn’t notice it was you when you boxed the cake and handed it to his grandfather. It was strange pretending to hold a cake that wasn’t really there.

You could project what was seen, what was remembered, the more fond or traumatizing the memory, the better it was for you to imagine and use against your opponent. So this memory on his walk home was a little foggy, since itadori himself didn’t remember much. You had conjured most of the aspects he remembered and filled in the gaps with your own imagination. As the man and Itadori walked into their home, you phased through the side of the fake house and hid in the shadows. If you were seen, Itadori’s reality would shatter, as if you weren’t in the original memory.

“Happy Birthday Yuji,” his grandfather said with a neutral tone, you felt the pounding need for a break. You had no idea what the man sounded like, you were racking your brain, finding other memories of the man and trying to replicate the voice as perfectly as possible. Itadori didn’t seem phased as he grinned innocently and watched his grandfather light the candles with a fake match. Your breathing was picking up as the pressure was building from holding this memory up too long.

He blew the candles out quietly and when the flames were out, you changed the memory.

This memory made you feel dirty, you felt bad, he had been genuinely upset.

The boy he had called Junpei was morphing into what you assumed was a curse. Itadori was stunned, lost, confused.

But as you watched from a corner, you could see him fall into the illusion, “Junpei, please, come back, you can do it, I believe in you.” You sighed, hating yourself for doing this. You raised your two fingers back up and concentrated, “broken reality” you whispered.

In doing this you were allowed full control of the memory, the other curse was no longer there, just the window behind him. And Junpei in front of him. “Junpei..Please”, he said softly, his voice cracking. Your eyebrows furrowed in frustration, this was why you had said ‘no’ in the first place.

You changed the memory to be Junpei’s head morphing back to normal, only to screech in pain and cry out to Itadori, “Itadori, Help me, Please, heal me!”

‘This was it’, if he called for Sukuna, he would fail, if he didn’t, he’d pass. Junpei let out another horrid screech when Itadori faltered. You peeked to see him crying. Holding his friend back as he morphed back into the creature. The savage creature hit him multiple times like how it had done in the original memory.

You huffed, why did this feel so inexplicably wicked, you felt like the real curse. You barely knew the boy and already had him crying. He whimpered, and you flinched. He looked up and placed his forehead against the creature's misinformed one. It groaned and whined, unintelligible things like "help..me..”

He cried and finally said something, “I’m sorry Junpei, I wasn’t there to save her, to protect you. I'm SO sorry. But there’s nothing else I can do for you.” He leaned a fist back, the most pitiful look on his face, “please forgive me..”

Before he could land his fist, you felt the string that held you and strength together snap. It was your final warning, that you couldn’t keep this up. You focused, “bring forth the truth.” You said and released the both of you from an innate domain.

You huffed as you fell to your knees, and so did Itadori.

Gojo peered mysteriously, and walked over. Passing you a bottle of water. “So how’d he do?” You gratefully drank from the bottle and looked at Itadori. “He passed.” You shoved the bottle back to Gojo. Somewhat upset that he wouldn’t check on his student that was sniveling.

You walked over to him and kneeled beside him. Unsure of what to do, you placed a hand on his shoulder, patting awkwardly and heard Goju-sensei stifle a laugh. You turned and glared at him. “Whatever happened back then wasn't your fault, you couldn’t have known that he needed you when he did. You can’t be in control of everything. You did your best and Im sure Junpei is grateful for that.” With that you stood up, and he peered at you with reddish eyes, “thank you.” You nodded.

He had passed.

That’s all that mattered. He was a determined individual.

That’s how it continued for a few days. By the third session, you offered to buy him some dessert to make him feel better, but he refused. It had been a tough session, where you had manipulated the memory of Megumi escaping, but instead died. You walked to the dorms with him, as he looked forward with a stoic face. He was trying to be strong, but you knew better, you invented that face.

“Itadori-san, come with me.” He said nothing but followed nonetheless. You walked to your room, leaving the door open as you walked in and opened your closet, in it was a mini refrigerator. You heard him walk in.

“Wow! You have a mini Fridge in here. Is that allowed?” You chuckled and shook your head no. Pulling out some vanilla ice cream. Classic Yuji, easily distracted. “It’ll be our little secret”, you whispered as you closed it and walked out with him.

“Let’s go and get some bowls to enjoy this.” He nodded eagerly.

That’s how it usually went. You really shouldn’t have gone out of your way to make him smile again, to get so close to him.

But how would you have known, you’d fall so deeply for this simple, sweet, and compassionate guy? Other days, when I trained him on reading the input and output of cursed energy, we’d end on better notes.

On those days, Yuji usually found himself conversing with you while taking a water break, or following you to get lunch. He had no idea how a person like you was usually alone. You were so easy to speak to, you made him laugh and made him feel better whenever he was frustrated from the dependence training. You were such a great person, sharing treats with him, inviting him to lunch, anything to make sure he was okay, and you never pried, never asked. But if he spoke about it, you listened, being the great and compassionate person you were, he had grown to care for you.

You got along with so many others too, but always held back.

He watched as you and Maki quipped at each other, smirking, you were tough on each other, but he knew; you loved your friends.

You knew all the right buttons to push with Megumi. He enjoyed the little bits of information you let slip when it was you, Nobara, Megumi and himself.

Watched as you tried to keep up with Panda as you trained, playfully calling him a cheater.

You were so full of life, but when no one was looking, you looked drained, out of place. Just, plain-old tired. He wondered what could make such a person feel so lonesome. How could you forget all the people around you, who loved and cherished you? What kind of burdens could you be holding?

So one day while he and Megumi were eating, he asked his friend. How could you pretend to be so happy with others, but once they looked away, drown in your sorrows all by yourself?

And to his surprise, Megumi answered full heartedly.

They were sitting having lunch before a class with Gojo, when Yuji couldn’t help but ask “why does (y/n)-senpai keep away from others? She gets along with everyone” He watched as Megumi paused from eating his lunch and gave a small huff. He just had to ask, with those wishful eyes.

“She’s a tough case. Being apart of the Saturo clan, they put a lot of pressure on her. But I don’t think that’s what you wanted to know, was it?” Yuji nodded, leaning forward, hoping to hear more. Megumi gave a full sigh this time, glancing at Maki and panda in the other corner, sitting in the common space given to students to eat and hangout.

“(Y/n)-senpai… her curse can manipulate you to become fully vulnerable. If she’s around somebody for too long, she can feel their deepest desires, regrets. Every single negative and positive emotion. If I were her, I’d probably be exhausted.” It was all he knew about you, well, the little he was willing to share openly. He stiffened when he heard Maki-senpai stand. Knowing her, who could tell what she would say, more importantly, yell at him for. It was no shock to others that Megumi was always a little too blunt.

“Oi! Don’t talk about her with such little respect. Her curse is far too complex for you’re deprived brains to understand.” She hissed. Maki was no stranger to knowing that their was more to a person than their curse, or lack thereof. She had grown to cherish you, your laid back behavior, and no matter how she quipped or insulted you, you never resented her.

Yuji could only stare at his other senpai with a black stare. Not knowing he had struck a nerve, with his topic of conversation. He watched silently as Maki walked up to him, “She’s more than her curse. You wouldn’t understand, you had a choice to carry Sukuna, she didn’t choose to be cursed.” With that she walked out of the common eating area.

He hummed silently, trying to wrap his head around the situation. But being more confused than before. So did you choose to be on your own, or did you not?? He exclaimed when his brain could no longer process the information “I’m still confused…”

He heard another chair scrape across the hardwood floor of the antique Japanese flooring. Staring as Panda walked over and stood before them. “Forgive Maki, she has a soft spot for very few people, so whenever she hears someone talk about those few, she can be quite protective.” Yuji scratched his neck nervously, and nodded apologetically.

“The truth is that (y/n)-senpai was raised in America away from all this curse stuff by her mothers choice. She wasn’t gifted like Gojo-sensei, so she fled, but as you can imagine, you can’t flee the wrath of curses. She was killed by a mysterious curse and accidentally cursed her daughter in an attempt to preserve her good nature. She wanted her daughter to continue being empathetic.” The panda- had scratched the side of his stuffing head in attempt to pick his next words carefully. “She doesn’t keep from us because it bothers her, but in order to keep the privacy of our emotions to ourselves. If any of us stay too close to her for too long, our fears and regrets are pulled out, and sometimes, her curse forces us into a frenzy where we lash out those feelings on to her. She doesn’t really want anyone to feel out of ease. A person’s inner thoughts and subconscious are ‘precious’ to their personality and soul.” He emphasized the ‘precious’ part as it was a word you had used before to explain a long time ago to the said panda.

As he turned to walk away, Maki’s plate in hand, he let one more thing slip, “she isolates herself in order to give others a chance to live without the constant reminder of our fears.” As he left, Yuji finally pieced it together, that’s why you had refused to help at first. Knowing you would see, feel his fears when he first encountered the curse in the detention facility, his regret when he had lost Junpei to Mahito’s curse welding.

He wouldn’t lie, at first he was embarrassed to know you had seen it all. He was never angry though, he was far from perfect, anyone in his position would have felt a similar way.

He had a new found feeling of respect and adoration for your empathy of others. Perhaps your mother had eerily succeeded in her last words. He never pitied you, but he would look up to you from now on. Maki-senpai was right, he had chosen his life when he ate the cursed finger back at his high school. You hadn’t been able to choose a life of constant fighting without your mother, or now with her.

You were a strong person indeed, but he already knew that.

To his surprise there was a certain cupid listening in on the conversation, smirking, knowing how it would play out. Thankfully in your favor, and out of their own care for you, would do their best to cater to this new blossoming love.

Love how the terfs are crying that adding an organ inventory to the new patient process (which is already comprehensive and is constantly having its standards tweaked/improved) will harm women when it literally just personalizes and increases efficiency for health screening processes and adds more straightforward organization to a patient history. I'm not reblogging anymore terf additions bc lmao shut the fuck up but I feel the need to explain how HUGE the knowledge gap is for them irt uhhhhhh how health care works.

There are things that hurt women in health care that need to be fixed. You know what hurts women the most consistently? Poor or unspecific reporting by their PCP, the provider who would likely own the organ inventory responsiblility. New patient encounters take forever for a reason. Your new provider wants to know EVERYTHING from your allergies to histories to social habits to hobbies. Your doctor should be equipped w everything they need to tailor your health care specifically to you, especially if something serious develops in the future. A detailed initial history from prior to your diagnosis is like gold when trying to suss out triggers for certain conditions.

Ntm if you see multiple providers within the same practice, then they ALL have instant access to your inventory or inventory history via the shared EMR (electronic medical record system) and can embed the inventory to future notes so long as there's no changes.

I don't know why terfs are so adamant against new things being added to the medical world. The buzz words for the field are "change" and "adaptability" and research advancements have made it possible for a loooong time to narrow various conditions' risk factors down to the presence of certain hormones, whose presence can be inferred from a glance at a concise organ inventory. I've seen it used already, like I'm not pulling this concept out of my ass. Just like providers were pushed to do comprehensive exams on most patients instead of problem-focused exams (lower complexity of e/m complexity), it'd just be a matter of explaining how we plan to use the inventory data. Ntm there'd be provider input on how the inventories would be built and executed lmao? Do you think we're just going to crash their system and hand them a piece of loose leaf paper and declare gender illegal?????? It's a replacement function for a broken federal flagging system that links diagnoses to sex instead of the organ itself. Organ-linked diagnosis is how medicine is taught, practiced, and usually improved. We're currently getting rid of epithets to move towards organ-linked descriptors.

Women getting brushed off at the ER is a real, tangible health care issue that you can chase after. I'm spitballing how to fix a system that literally fucks up for everyone already. Most of the items flagged were otherwise compliant and just wasted time, like it's literally just a sand trap in a government system do you realize how stupid you sound when you suggest fixing that will "hurt the poor women!!!!"

I hope every woman whose had coverage delayed or refused bc of this flagging system gets your bank info so they can charge their out of network fees to your dumbass since it'd be stupid to apparently fix the problem that put them there in the first place. Pay up or shut up, cunts.

seeing u reblog the critique thing at 12 am while im trying to sleep. furiously opening my laptop. first of all let me just say that i never think its a bad thing when character portrayals change over time. i think thats the natural progression of like. Writing a character consistently. if your character didnt like, change, as ur writing them i think itd be kinda boring! i obviously cant speak for you but i dont think youve lost sight of what u were originally trying to do with volo, and if it helps at all, i can speak from the perspective of someone who was here in the pretty early stages of ur volo blog and then disappeared for like 2 months and came back. ur volo feels as real to me as he ever did, and any changes in your portrayal i think are again, just natural progression. ESPECIALLY since like, oh my god, when you start to write a character ur still figuring them out yknow! and ive ALWAYS thought youve had a really good grasp on volo. and youve only continued to prove me right about that. not to disparage any other volo rpers (because i LOVE THEM ALL i love all the different takes) out there but you are genuinely one of my all time faves. i dont rly do like, "mains" or "canons" but when im thinking about my emmet and volo its usually u im thinking of because i just think the way you write him is such a beautiful. god theres a word for it idk but like ur volo??? ur volo is like the goliath to my emmet's david. and i know in my brain theres a better word/analogy for that but i cant think of it. its just that they are so stunningly similar but different in the most interesting ways and your writing. your analysis. your headcanons. everything about u and ur volo make me foam at the mouth like IM the one w rabies and not emmet. your writing and critical analysis inspire and motivate me literally so so much. god what the hell no im not crying youre crying. we're our own worst critics. i worry every day that my emmet Sucks or isnt consistent and you know what? i think its okay if a character isnt consistent ESPECIALLY characters like volo and emmet. theyre unstable n unpredictable. theyre 3 dimensional. in real life, people ARENT consistent. in real life, people dont always react to or think the same way about things one day as they might the next. your volo is so human and so real. ok i think thats the end of my spiel goodnight lucian i look forward to seeing more of ur volo when i awaken.

firstly Thank You this is very nice to hear and i'm flattered by so very much of this and that you think of my volo so much, and that you enjoy him so thoroughly! the analogy is an especially good one, and i definitely see what you mean by it because they are two forces opposing each other. :') also i am shaking you fiercely you are your own worst critic.... your emmet is nothing if not consistent and absolutely top-notch, and you ought to pat yourself on the back more! i always absolutely adore what all you're doing with him. and you!!! you inspire ME!! i can't tell you how much your analysis on emmet keeps Me going.

as for the rest of this, i definitely get what you mean and you are right in saying people aren't normally very consistent people, and that volo is a very inconsistent, unpredictable character... i think for me, my fear with it is as i think? i may have talked about it before on here is losing my original 'sight' of what i wanted to do with him, which is understand his character and explain why the way it is, humanizing him while neither woobifying him nor making him some cruel, heartless villain because i don't believe he's either of those things. he is a very tragic person who, despite his tragedy, is not necessarily a good person: he's by no means the worst, but he isn't by any means perfect. what i wanted to do with volo is highlight why the way he is, where this comes from, and... i guess, in an ironic turn of things, understand him and make sense of him as a person afflicted by his tragedy and how this changed him as a person and how it manifests in what he does while putting it out there that despite what depths he may go he is still very much a person, in an odd sort of parallel to how he wants to understand arceus? muns choose the muse and muses speak to the muns, i guess.

either way, a lot of my hemming and hawing comes from my chewing on the idea of 'am i doing too much of this? am i leaning too much this way? is this contradictory to his earlier characterization in a bad way, where he has lost some of his nuance? has this development dampened the portrayal? is he edging into mustache-twirling villain territory, or losing some of his original spark?' things like that.

so hearing that he hasn't really lost what was originally there is relieving, and i appreciate it! i'll definitely keep it, and everything else here in mind, because what you said is true. thank you morty 😭goodnight, and i look forward to seeing you and more of your emmet when you wake up!

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Abbacchio enjoys the simplicity of doing nothing and going nowhere. Honestly, some of his favorite activities that you do together take place in the courtesy of your own home. Don't get it twisted though, he still will take you out for the occasional meal and show you a good time!

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He admires your ability to stay calm. Other people he has known in the past would tend to annoy him with how high strung they were. He much rather prefers a partner that he can sit in comfortable silence with, and can just go with the flow of everything.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Abbacchio, to be fair, has had his own fair share of emotional baggage, so he knows what you're experiencing all too well. Thankfully, he also knows how to overcome the situation when these feelings grow to be too much. He'll whisper words and phrases of affirmation, assuring them that everything will be okay and that he will always be there for them.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

His vision of the future is very uncertain, and in all fairness, he couldn't even believe that he'd made it this far in his life. His previous career as an officer and currently being in the mafia were certainly not considered "safe" jobs. He does want a future with you though, no matter how risky the job. He just won't think too far ahead.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Abbacchio is very passive aggressive. He'll be very lenient when it comes to making decisions in the relationship but can obviously step it up if needed. Most of the decision making will be in the hands of his partner for sure.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

He bottles things up until they explode at the surface. He'll yell and most likely something will come out harsher than intended, this ends up with him being in a position where he has some serious explaining to do. Things will work out eventually, but things might be rough for a while.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He loves you for showing him that living wasn't all that bad to begin with. Life hasn't been very kind to him and you know that. When he's having very low moments, you remind him of his team and you who both love him very much. You are one of the only reasons that he keeps on going.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

Getting Abbacchio to open up and speak about the things that he's experienced in this lifetime will take a lot of coaxing and convincing. In time, he'll tell you when he's ready, but for a good while he'll be very selective with what he wants to share with you. Only when the time comes and he feels that you're worthy of knowing will he come clean. Be ready.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

He has a hard time seeing the positives of a situation, and before he met you, he was truly unhappy with his life. It took him so many years to learn that seeing things from a different, more optimistic point of view really made a huge difference. He thanks you for opening him up to new experiences.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Abbacchio does not mess around when it comes to you getting attention from other people. He may appear passive at first, but he’s had an eye on the two of you this whole time, don’t worry. If things get out of hand, he’ll just drag you out of there so fast you won’t even have time to process what just happened.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Abbacchio is a very rough kisser, to the point where you have to remind him not to leave marks on your lips. There's a time and a place for everything, but it takes some reminders to let him know that a simple showing of affection shouldn't result in your face being all but ripped off. Other than that, he's got quite the natural talent.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

The funny thing that sets Abbacchio apart from the others is that he won't outright tell you that he loves you. He very much so believes in the concept of tough love, and even though he can be unbearable at some points, it's very rarely that he verbally expresses that he loves you. It's rather expressed in the actions that he does.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

He's going to wait for ages until he pops the question, so long in fact that you had thought about proposing to him just to get it over with. He'll ask for the help of his team to put the wedding together since he doesn't have much to work with in terms of family. When it's all said and done, he'll totally have to fight the urge to break down into tears when he sees you walking down the aisle. You just look so beautiful!

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Abbaccchio really doesn't need nicknames, unless you ask him to call you something specific. If not, he's content with referring to you by your name. After all, it is the most sincere form of flattery as they say.😳

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

Only a few people can tell that something is up with Abbacchio (mainly, Bruno and Fugo) and once they figure out what's going on with their teammate they can't help but smile. They'll leave teasing out of it because they know that the others might go too far, but whenever you enter a room they share a knowing glance as they watch him clam up on the spot.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He's not very fond of showing his affection in public, and sometimes this really gets on your nerves. There are times where he doesn't even feel comfortable holding hands with you, but you try to respect his wishes. You know that he's just a little awkward and shy when it comes to these things and that his actions in the outside world are completely different compared to when you share alone time.

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

(I know this might be one you guys have heard of before but it can't leave my brain so-) Abbacchio can sing, and he can sing quite well. But he will never do so in front of people, and even in front of you. The only times that you can hear him is when he thinks that you have left for the store and sneaks into the bathroom. One time you had your ear pressed against the door so hard that it accidentally opened. He was holding a hairbrush like a microphone and was less than pleased that you had found him.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

It may not seem like it, but Abbacchio can be quite romantic. When the two of you are alone he might offer to give you a massage or might shower you in kisses of his own accord. Both of those might end up leading to something else, of course ;)

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He will always make sure to make sure that you have complete confidence in whatever you decide to pursue. If you succeed, then he will be the proudest man you've ever seen. Even if you experience some shortcomings he'll encourage you to keep trying and re-adjust your goals so they can be more attainable.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

Abbacchio doesn't really come across as the type of person that's spontaneous. While he doesn't like surprises, whenever he does have a nice gesture planned he wants to make sure that you're prepared for (possibly) one of the best days of your life. He hypes it up in subtle ways like "Pack your bags" and "Make sure to bring your swimsuit". 😉

U nderstanding - How well do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

Don't let his emotional unavailability at times fool you, for he can understand your emotions quite well. He'll pay attention to details that could decipher your moods, like the slam of a door or heavy sighs as you shuffle your feet into the living room. Of course, he'll ask you how to make you feel better, but he secretly prides himself on his awareness when it comes to you.

V alue - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?

Abbacchio isn't the best at maintaining relationships with people, unless they're very special to him. You are easily one of the best things that's ever happened to him, and if you weren't in his life he'd be extra grumpy and then some. You are his rock, and he cherishes you every single day the two of you are together.

W ild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.

When the two of you aren't busy, you insist on having a "couple's night" which consists of watching a movie together. He’s a bit of a “fun killer” when it comes to having a movie night, turning down almost every idea and suggestion that you have. You eventually decide on a basic horror movie, with Abbacchio grumbling through it the whole time. He does enjoy when you cling to him during the scary parts, though.

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

Abbacchio can be affectionate when he wants to be (only when you’re ALONE). There are times when he doesn't want to be in the same room as you, and then others when he's clinging to you no matter how hard you try to escape. Catch him in a good mood and he'll even nuzzle his head into the crook of your neck.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Whenever you've been away for a bit, Abbacchio will seemingly be unfazed by your lack of presence, almost to the point where it bothers you. Your man really doesn't show that many emotions, huh. When you walk through the door; however, he'll be there in the doorway ready to greet you and wrap you in a giant hug. You smile, knowing that he secretly missed you after all.

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of?

He's not the type of guy to give gifts or do anything extravagant outside of special occasions. If you're having a bad day he will bring you dinner and listen to you vent. Could you go into the difference between the subtext and queerbaiting in it, I'm still kind of -well it's obviously gay but nothing was really ever said or shown that says that expect for people talking about it- Like are the characters and their relationship just queer-coded (positivly ofc lol) but the baitiness comes from them sort of confirming it off the show?

of course! im assuming by ‘it’ you mean merlin, but rather than explaining the reasons why i think bbc merlin is a matter of subtext (or queer coding) and not queerbaiting, i think it would be easier and more productive to explain the difference between the two in general. they are very similar - which is why i think a lot of people are unable to tell the difference between them - but they have important differences

just a warning, this is going to be a LONG post lmao ive bolded exactly what each term means below, after which i go into more detail on the whole issue. this is something im passionate about so,,, ♥

queerbaiting specifically refers to a marketing technique in which creators hint at but dont actually depict a queer character or relationship. They do this in order to attract a queer audience with the suggestion of a character or relationship they can relate to, while also avoiding alienating their queerphobic audiences

queer coding is the subtextual coding of a character as queer through the use of things like metaphor, allegory, hinting, recognisable traits/stereotypes/experiences, etc. This is done to build believable characters and create more complex plot lines, and it is also regularly used by people who want to tell queer stories but are unable to do so explicitly. it CAN be used negatively to enforce damaging stereotypes, but that is just a small part of its usage

both of these things utilise subtext in order to work. subtext is not only a crucial part of the creation of any piece of media, but is impossible to avoid.

an example of the most basic types of subtext is when a character tells someone that everything is going to be okay, but you can tell they dont believe it. or when youre watching a story unfold and you suddenly connect the dots and realise whats going to happen before its explicitly stated - you used subtext and the hidden meanings and hints to figure it out!

the people involved w a piece of media create their story with a specific purpose or meaning in mind, and they construct the subtext of the story to reflect that purpose/meaning. HOWEVER, the viewers dont always see things the same!

your experiences and personality shape the way you view and interpret every piece of media you consume. if you hate cops youll see the insidious undertones in cop shows - if you grew up with an abusive parent youll see the biting implications in a characters dialogue that others find innocent - if youre queer you will search for and fine queer characters everywhere, regardless of the creators intentions

now, both queerbaiting and queer coding use subtext to function, right? so how do you know which is being used and whether or not its a bad thing? its all about intention

to give a specific explanation of the difference im going to use two examples that are (arguably) very similar in the way their queer characters became canon

example 1: adventure time featured the characters marceline and princess bubblegum, who have been forever depicted as a couple in fan content. their interactions in the show were read into and latched onto bc we saw ourselves in them and we saw it as positive queer rep. but their relationship was never explicitly discussed during the course of the show and was only confirmed at the end of the final episode.

that makes 10 seasons in which their relationship existed only in subtext, and when it did finally exist in canon it was only for a few minutes, if that.

example 2: supernatural featured the characters dean and castiel (lol) who have been depicted as a queer couple pretty much since the first episode cas appeared in. i personally hung on their every interaction, analysed every glance between them, bc i interpreted deans character as a parallel to my own childhood trauma.

cas joined the show in season 4, so that makes 11 seasons in which him being gay existed only in subtext, and when it was confirmed he was immediately cut out of the show. the exact nature of dean and castiels relationship still remains in subtext.

so why is it that adventure time is widely considered perfectly fine but supernatural is dunked on as being the poster boy for queerbaiting?

its bc adventure time involved queer creators and was an earnest representation of queer characters, but they were boxed in by their publisher, Cartoon Network and thus the only way for the relationship to exist in the show was through subtext.

supernatural, however, consistently neglected their queer character and employed transparent tropes and stereotypes - bringing him in just sparingly enough to keep queer audiences interested while never being gay enough to alienate their macho manly man queerphobe audiences. they would have dean and cas stare into each other eyes for a full 30 seconds and then almost immediately follow it up with an episode about dean banging a disposable female character.

so imho adventure time falls under queer subtext, and supernatural falls under queerbaiting

when it comes to a show like bbc merlin i see a lot of debate about whether or not its queer coding or queerbaiting, and my intention is not to convince you of either. merlin was very much a product of its time, and i have argued the same about seasons 4-6 of supernatural as well, before the queerbaiting escalated and became exhausting to me

the purpose of this post is to start giving you the information you need to analyse any piece of media and come to your OWN opinion as to whether or not its queerbaiting or whatever else

people will ALWAYS have differing opinions about this shit yall. i have debated so many times w so many people about where the line is and whats okay and what should be ‘cancelled’ and if consuming something deemed problematic makes you a bad person or not

and my conclusion?

if youre capable of acknowledging the flaws and issues w a piece of media without trying to defend it as a shining beacon of purity simply bc you like it, then you do you. enjoy whatever you want to enjoy - if i think its reprehensible i simply will never interact with you lol

at some point everyone has to stop regurgitating these generic woke speak cancel culture speeches and buzzwords and formulate their own opinions

my advice to anyone reading this is to learn how to do close reading (ill provide a link to a wonderful short guide on it in a reblog bc tumblr hates links) and start really considering where you draw the lines with all types of content. decide for yourself whether merlin or supernatural or adventure time crosses the line into content you cant stomach, but respect other people whose interpretations differ from yours

i know a HUGE amount of people think supernaturals confession scene was homophobic and toxic - a slap in the face - but when i watched it i saw myself reflected in dean. a repressed bisexual whose emotions had been stunted by lifelong trauma, who wasnt ready to face his feelings for cas but quickly realising that his chronic avoidance and fear was about to tear them apart possibly forever. to me it was tragic and beautiful, and i loved it

i also think merlin is a tragic and beautiful love story, and to me its a pivotal piece of queer media that changed the way i viewed love and made me believe that it was a possibility for me bc i related so deeply to arthur

i hope that you can draw a satisfying answer from this, anon, and i apologise for this post being a full essay lol but i believe it needed to be said - i dont think there is a right or wrong answer here

Since his high school years, Koshi Sugawara had come to terms with the fact that he would never be special enough to become a priority. This started during the year he thought he would finally be a starter for the Karasuno volleyball club—his third year.

He did everything right. He practiced hard for three years. He perfected the motions. He waited for his time, but when it came it was handed to—no, stolen— by his junior. Little useless number two—the only third year warming the bench on a team with four first year starters. Suga, naive as he was, didn't see it like that though. His fellow teammates knew as well as he did: while he was a reliable, efficient, and passionate player, he simply just didn’t have that spark running through his bones.

Although there was one person in particular who seemed to have been blindsided by the simple fact. Daichi Sawamura was probably the only person in the whole world that disregarded Suga’s inferiority and loved him all the same. Daichi was the one person who, in spite of the world turning its back on Suga, promised him he’d always be his first choice.

Suga seemed to forget that telling lies was just as easy as telling the truth.

“Hello?” he spoke into the phone.

No reply.

It was strange. Suga should have hung up the phone—he knew this—but he stayed on the line nonetheless.

“Is anyone there?” he persisted.

“Daichi?” was what the person on the other line said. It was a feminine voice, light and breathy tones were heard in the single word that was uttered.

“He can’t come to the phone right now. Can I pass on a message?”

One. Three. Five. Seven seconds pass before another sound is spoken.

Not even a single syllable is made before the beginning hum of the dial tone is heard.

Confused, Suga returned the phone to where he picked it up from.

“Who was that?” Daichi said while walking out of the bathroom, hair wet and a towel wrapped snug around his waist.

“Not sure. They didn’t say their name,” the silver haired boy sheepishly smiled at him.

“Hm? Thats odd,” he walked over to the night stand where his phone lay atop and checked the person that called. For a split second, as his pupils grazed over the numbers, he went pale in the warm lighting of the room and his eyes widened ever so slightly, but just enough to insight a pang of panic in Sugawara’s chest.

“What’s wrong?” Suga had always been naturally attentive so it shouldn't have surprised Daichi as much as it did when he inquired about his peculiar expression.

“N-nothing!” he absentmindedly stuttered.

“Are you sure?” Suga reassuringly rest his hand upon Daichi’s bare shoulder, who shivered at his lover’s touch. The smaller boy instinctively retracted his hand in shock, “You’re acting weird, Daichi.”

“Sorry, babe, I just need to go make a call real quick,” he said while hurriedly throwing on sweatpants and a random t-shirt picked up from the floor.

That was the first time Suga’s heart beat just a little bit faster than usual in all the wrong ways.

Daichi’s absurd behavior began erratic—mood unpredictable—until a time came where Suga could hardly remember what being loved felt like anymore.

It started with him making excuses to leave the room, stolen glances as he left no longer having the same effect. Sugawara simply figured he had a lot to do at work—the late homecomings left him unbothered for that exact reason.

The distance between them grew at a slow, grueling, and consistent pace, the type that in the moment feels like nothing has changed at all, until you look in retrospect. The thing about Daichi was that it was almost professional—the way he held Suga with a loose tether wrapped around his finger; an illusion of freedom under the guise of protection. Suga wasn’t an idiot; he wasn’t the submissive little naive boy he was in high school. He simply loved the other so much that he continuously gave him the undeserved benefit of the doubt.

It was unsatisfying—the way Suga was given a mere taste of affection that left him pining for more. He didn’t want to be selfish though, since after all, it was Daichi doing him a favor by staying at his side.

Sugawara had always been a patient man. He very rarely lashed out in anger, and was infamously the most level-headed person one could come across, but after all these years of subordination, he was slowly reaching the breaking point.

It was a quiet Thursday afternoon on the fateful day that Daichi had accidentally left his phone at home. The sun shone warmly outside, covered in the thinnest veil of clouds—about twenty four degrees celsius. Some might have even called this a perfect day.

The clock read “3:45” when Sugawara opened the front door of his home—coming straight from work. He removed his shoes, put them in their place, and hung his keys up on the hook by the door. When he was walking towards the kitchen to get a glass of water, he noticed the device on the counter. He paused in his wake, about to take a half-step towards it, when he mentally slapped himself for even thinking about looking through it.

There was a gravitational pull boring into the back of his head—the feeling of the cold metal burning against his fingertips. This was his chance to put the voices in his head to rest. This was the chance to prove to himself that he should’ve never underestimated Daichi. He wanted his mind to be at ease. One little peak wouldn’t hurt, right?

As he set his glass down on the granite countertop, the ding of a text tone emitted from the phone. His heart stopped and his eyes darted towards the lit up glass. Dozens of messages littered the screen from an unknown number.

“What are you doing later tonight?”

“You’re not busy with work again are you?”

“Hey. I miss you.”

“Give me a call when you see this, baby.”

Hazel eyes glossed over as the pet name became the only thing he could see. He didn't even need to unlock the phone to get the gist of the situation.

Warm tears raced down his cheeks as he read more of the messages that were constructed only for his lover’s eyes.

“W-why?” a mere skeleton of a sound escaped his trembling lips.

The screen became increasingly blurry with the rivers streaming down his face and welling up on his lash line. He couldn’t help the insolent thoughts penetrating his skull—insecurity was second nature to him.

Head in a daze, time passed quicker than he thought. Sitting on the kitchen floor, the tile no longer stone cold, with his knees to his chest and his back against the wall, the door swung open.

Hm. That’s weird. Daichi’s home earlier than usual. Is what he thought. Maybe Daichi was afraid of Suga finding out the truth in his absence. Whatever his motive was didn't matter—the damage had already been done.

“Suga? What are you doing on the floor?” he said putting his things down.

All the silver haired boy could do was look up at him with red rimmed eyes.

“Hey, what’s wro—” Daichi cut himself off when his gaze fell upon his phone in Suga’s slender hands.

He had the same look about him as he did the first time he almost got caught. Pale skin, even in the moonlight, eyes the size of the moon.

Seeing his reaction was the last bit of confirmation Suga needed to snap. His expression was unreadable, emotion drained from his face, and piercing eye contact unwavering. A single tear fell from his left eye before he made another movement.

“Was I ever enough?”

I feel so bad letting this sit for so long, but better late than never I suppose! Thank you to literally everyone who tagged me in this. How do you get people to always buy your dragons? Genuine question

i was gonna say something like “haha i have no fucking clue” but that would be a lie i think about this a lot actually so i might have some insights i’ve been breeding dragons as my primary activity on FR since i started playing FR (in 2014...) and people have only started actually buying dragons from me consistently like, 5-6 months ago, despite 2-3 attempts at running a genuine hatchery onsite that always died due to lack of interest & not really being worth the effort.

so ive thought a lot about what the hell is happening now and why my dragons are suddenly consistently selling and I think ive come down to these being the main points of advice i can give: 1. make friends! be friendly! don’t be weird! be a cool and fun person to interact with! 2. post consistently. post your dragons consistently. post about other stuff consistently. just be an active member of the community 3. POST YOUR SHIT IN THE “#FLIGHT RISING” TAG. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUELY HELPFUL THING I SAY IN THIS POST 4. make pairs that are sexy as hell and be openly proud of them. make dragons and pairs that you like, not what you think will necessarily sell. people can tell when you like stuff and being genuinely passionate about something, whatever the fuck it is, will get other people passionate as well longer versions/explanations under the cut because man this got a mile long. i wasn’t kidding when i said i think about this a lot and i am so sorry if you wanted something concise and useful

1. to be a little glib. i am mutuals/friends with more clout in the FR community than I do kjdshfdsfdhjhkfdf shoutout to everyone who draws their dragons really good on a regular basis because i am riding on your coattails to sell my dragons. i love you this was never my intent, obviously! DO NOT BEFRIEND PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU WILL GET STUFF FROM THEM IT’S JUST A REALLY BAD THING TO DO TO PEOPLE!!! i wouldn’t be friends w/ people if i didn’t genuinely like and get along with them! no amount of pixel cash is worth putting up with people you dont like or abusing people you admire! but i’d also somehow feel wrong to just... neglect mentioning this factor. idk it’s probably a self-esteem thing sjdkgfhdsf i just Don’t feel like my #success has been totally out of my own effort because its not like im #hustling or whatever i just posted dragons and stuff happened

2. being consistent! just. posting consistently! posting Every Hatchling I Have and Talking About Them On Tumblr! Once I had a couple nests just sell super fast likely due to aforementioned clout, i was emboldened to just post more of my nests more often and I swear this has more effect than anything else. i just needed the self-esteem boost to Start Doing That posting consistently makes ppl follow u for ur content which gets even more people to look at your dragons which gets more people to buy your dragons.

2a. Also just post a lot in general, even if you aren’t necessarily posting about your dragons for sale. it definitely helps! just be friendly and active and people will come

3. post your shit in the tag. not in “#dragon-sales” or “#fr-dragon-sales” or anything weird like that because I don’t know if anyone actually looks at those, but people definitely browse “#flight rising”. no matter how many followers you have, more people will see your content if you post it in #flight rising than if you just chuck it into the void.

3a. however! do not put links into the post if you want it to actually show up in the tag. tumblr is cool in that it doesn’t actually matter that much when you post something, the same way it really matters on twitter bc twitter has algorithms that decide for you what it thinks you want to be seeing whereas tumblr just shows you everything in chronological order. if you post something into the tag at 1am... it will still be there at 2pm when people log on and start scrolling.

the only thing tumblr seems to consistently hide from a tag (and possibly a dashboard, but idk) are posts with links in them, as a half-assed attempt to limit spam. instead of linking to your sales tab/to the dragons directly in the post, reblog it with the links instead. to reduce latency between a post going up and the links being available, i type out the links in the initial post, cut them, post the thing into the tag, then very quickly reblog, paste the links, and post the reblog jdhfsdf. i don’t know if that benefits anything really? but it can sometimes take me a while to type links, so if i posted, pressed reblog, typed up all the links, then posted, it’d be like ~15 minutes where someone may see the post, think “oh i would like to buy those dragons”, then can’t find the link, think “oh well, i will just find it later”, scroll on, and just... completely forget about it. so uh. go quick?

3b. the armchair sociologist in me also thinks self-reblogging has the added benefit of like... you know how people are more likely to tip a barista when a dollar is already in the tip jar? or how people are more likely to take one of those little tabs on a flyer if one of them is already missing? i think that works with notes, too. i don’t know why i think that or why it happens i just swear once a post gets 1 note, suddenly it gets Even More Notes, and if it doesn’t get any notes for a while it will sit at 0 notes until the end of time. so giving yourself 1 obligatory note makes people more likely to interact. i think

4. all of these are hard to quantify but this one is especially so: have cool and unique dragons. make your pairs sexy as hell. don’t put all your eggs (hah) into the one basket of selling dragons that are technically “popular”. we have all seen triple white/triple obsidian/triple orca/triple any other popular colors and cherub/pere/stained or wasp/bee/glim pthahlos or whatever. they’re pretty! we get it! but everyone has had one and everyone has had those pairs and market for dragons like that can be super oversaturated. try to break free from that and sell dragons that people can only get from you. I can’t tell you what to do though bc that rly depends on you. make pairs that you find exciting or interesting and people will feel that. i have a very specific theme and aesthetic that i don’t feel like is especially common on FR and i am genuinely very enthusiastic about it. marine shit is my Thing:tm: both on and off FR and dragons are one of my many ways of expressing that if you have a Thing:tm:, either some fr-centric aesthetic (like being super into plague or earth or light or something) or something more general (such as any of the -punks or -cores)... just fuckin roll with it honestly. if you’re goth? make got h dragons. like scene stuff that looks straight out of a middle school in 2010? rock that hot-topic lair. outdoorsey type? make dragons that look like you’d meet them on a hike in the woods. it really works with anything! people can tell when you really love something and i know that seeing someone really love something, even if it’s not necessarily MY thing, makes me really excited too!!

4a. never show fear. people can smell fear. never be like “well this one isn’t that good” because suddenly now you’ve planted the idea that it’s ugly in other people’s heads when they may have really liked it had you not accidentally suggested to them that it’s an ugly dragon. people are EXTREMELY suggestible to even VERY minor cues so be always a little bit bolder than you think you should be you’d be surprised at how many times ive been like “eh, this one’s kind of a dud, i’ll probably have to exalt this one when the auction expires” and then that hatchling is the first to sell. never ever ever ever decide what other people like for them. always act like your dragons are the hottest shit in all the land and Believe It. this is what people mean when they say “fake it till you make it”

- 4b. also, idk if it’s true of everyone but it’s really off-putting to see someone having serious pity-parties for themselves, on sales posts or otherwise. ive had bad experiences with people who are uncomfortably quick to self-depreciate (because they were using their genuine self-hatred to manipulate me or my friends), so i might be a little more trigger-happy about avoiding this behavior than others, but don’t weaponize your sadness to guilt people into doing what you want. it’s really not cool.

okay i think that’s my entire manifesto on how i do dragon selling. anon i am so sorry im sure you were expecting like “believe in yourself :)” and here i am dissecting dragon selling like it’s a frog in a science class

edit: AFTER ALL THAT I STILL THOUGHT OF ONE MORE THING. It’s not really a Point, just a Reminder:

i don’t post about all the times i have to exalt dragons that don’t sell. you are seeing me being very selective about what i post. you dont sit and stare at my lair or click through offspring lists or check old sales posts. there are a lot of times where someone just doesn’t sell. even now when i’m selling stuff pretty consistently i will still sometimes have dragons that don’t sell for seemingly no reason. even dragons I think are sure to sell will sometimes just... not. and that’s ok! you gotta just be.. ok with that. it’s par for the course. i typically list dragons for 7 days on the AH, give them a couple more days after their auction expires (partially because i forget, partially to give them a grace period for people to pm/ask me about them), and then exalt them after that point. w/ some dragons that i don’t think got a fair shake for one reason or another (such as the sales post not showing up in the tag or something) i do a little clearance (like the halloween dragons i recently posted) but for the most part if they don’t sell, i just exalt them. 90% of the time i don’t even bother to level them up i just press the exalt button and call it a day. it’s fine
