Iniquity and Sin: Understanding the Mystery of Iniquity and Its Spiritual Consequences
Introduction The terms “sin” and “iniquity” are often used interchangeably in everyday language, but the Bible distinguishes between these two concepts in profound ways. While both represent forms of moral wrongdoing, “iniquity” goes deeper, pointing to a premeditated, entrenched evil that flows from a rebellious heart. Understanding the differences between sin and iniquity is crucial for…

Jewish Tradition vs $ionism
“Behold- to fear he Master is Wisdom, And to depart from evil is Understanding (Iyyov/Job 28:28)
In the Torah, Talmud, Rishonim, and the Kabbalah of our Fathers, ‘the Ends’ do not ‘Justify the Means’. Only through the proper means can ends be achieved. We learn this from many verses [such as the rejection of Israel’s sacrifices and observances on account of their sin]:
“Yea, though you offer me burnt-offerings and your meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.” (Amos 5:22)
“Bring no more vain oblations; it is an offering of abomination unto Me; new moon and sabbath, the holding of convocations--I cannot endure iniquity along with the solemn assembly.”
(Isaiah 1:13)
“And you have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus you bring the offering; should I accept this of your hand? says HaShem”   (Malachi 1:13)
And this principle underlies many Talmudic discussions, such as what R. Yohanon said in the name of R. Shimon Ben Yahoi on waving a stolen lulav.
“[It is unfit] because it is a mitzvah that comes [fulfilled] by means of a transgression.”
(Sukka 30a)
“Similarly, an etrog which is not orlah, or money given to charity that has not been acquired through theft and their like. For Orlah is of the three completely unclean kelipot that can never ascend into holiness, as is written in Etz Chaim [Shaar 49 ch.2]. Similarly, [this applies to] any precept involving a transgression, heaven forfend.” (Likkutei Amarim ch.37)
“As our Sages state: ‘For the ‘work of heaven’ [i.e., mitzvah objects] only that which is pure and permissible to eat may be used.” (Likutei Amarim ch.37, Shabbat 28b)
Furthermore,  this principle also is critical to the discussions of redemption and reward discussed in the Mishnah,
“Ben Azzai said: Be quick in performing a minor commandment as in the case of a major one, and flee from transgression; For one commandment leads to another commandment, and transgression leads to another transgression; For the reward for performing a commandment is another commandment and the reward for committing a transgression is a transgression.” (Avot 4:2)
And the discussions about proper purity of the garments of the soul, such as proper kavanah [determined-focus], these being critical and consequential in the mitzvot performed, and correct passion, and so on.
“And thou shalt love HaShem your G-d with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.” (Devarim/Deuteronomy 6:5)
“But the word is very nigh unto you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it”. (Devarim/Deuteronomy 30:14)
“Yet, nevertheless, it has been said that prayer or any other blessing, said without kavanah, is like a body without a soul.”
(Likkutei Amarim ch.38; see Yeshuot Meshicho, p12a; Shnei Luchot Habrit, vol.1 p. 249b.)
“Not so in the case of the science of the nations; thereby, one clothes and defiles ChaBaD [Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge], which is his Divine soul, with the impurity of the kelipat nogah [the translucent husks, i.e. overdoing the permissible to the point of transgression] contained in those sciences, whither they (the sciences) have fallen, through the “shattering of the vessels,” out of the “hinder-part” of Wisdom of holiness, as is known to the students of the Kabbalah.
“unless one employs them [these sciences] as a useful instrument, viz., as a means of earning a more affluent livelihood with which to be able to serve G-d, or unless he knows how to apply them [the sciences] in the service of G‑d or to his better understanding of His Torah, e.g., [he utilizes mathematics to better understand the laws of the Sanctification of the New Moon.]
“This is the reason why The Rambam and Ramban, of blessed memory, and their peers engaged in them” [in the sciences—since they were able to utilize this knowledge in the service of G‑d and Torah, as physicians committed to healing.] (Likkutei Amarim ch.8)
And the sages have said that all sins, except for a number of them, have a remedy, but the inherently impure sins, such as idolatry, illicit sexual relations, and bloodshed, distance a person from holiness, heaven forbid, as the kabbalists have transmitted.
“These are tied and bound by the ‘extraneous forces’ [the kelipot] forever.”  (Likutei Amarim ch.8)
“It follows, then, that the person who does violate G-d’s will is greatly inferior to and more debased than the sitra achara and kelipah, which are called avodah zarah and “other gods”.
“He is separated completely from G‑d’s unity and oneness even more than they are as though denying His unity even more radically than they, Heaven Forfend.
“This is similar to what is written in Etz Chaim, Portal 42, end of ch. 4, that the evil in this corporeal world is the dregs of the coarse kelipot, it is the sediment of the purifying process, and so on.” (Likkutei Amarim ch.24)
It will continue to be  shown, the content and the context of our actions in the world of action have dire consequences, in terms of a Jew’s connection to their Father in Heaven. The principles identified above stem from [combating] the role of the completely impure kelipot in the scheme of redemption, as the kabbalists explain:
[when they will refrain from transgressing] the 365 prohibitions, to restrain the 365 blood vessels of the animal soul in the body so that they do not draw nurture or receive vitality by means of such transgression from any one of the three completely unclean kelipot, from which are derived the 365 Biblical prohibitions, and the Rabbinical prohibitions.
“the vitalizing soul could no longer ascend to G‑d, having been tainted by the impurity of the three impure kelipot, which can never be elevated, but must be nullified and utterly destroyed, as is written, ‘And I shall banish the unclean spirit from the earth’.”
(Likkutei Amarim ch.37, Zechariah 13:2)
And the sins of the entire people of Israel also delay the Messianic Era. For when a person willfully sins, he draws vitality by his own will from the impure husks, becoming a vessel for the husks rather than a vessel for the Holy One, Blessed be He. And since all of Israel is commanded to be 'a light unto the nations', the sin of the world corresponds to the sins of the seed of Israel, according to the status of the husks; they must earn The Messiah through service to G-d, as is learned from all over the Tradition.
“Why was the First Temple destroyed? Because of three things which prevailed there: idolatry, immorality, and bloodshed... But why was the Second Temple destroyed, seeing that in its time they occupied themselves with Torah, mitzvot and acts of kindness? Because baseless hatred prevailed. This teaches you that baseless hatred is equal to the three sins of idolatry, illicit relations and murder.” (Yoma 9b) [The Kingdoms and Temples were taken away as direct result of the sins of the children of Israel]
“Now this ultimate perfection of the Messianic era and [the time of] the resurrection of the dead, meaning the revelation of the Ein Sof-light in this physical world, is dependent on our actions and [divine] service throughout the period of exile. For it is the mitzvah itself that causes i.e., creates its reward.” (Likutei Amarim ch.37, Avot 4:2)
“It follows, then, that the person who does violate G‑d’s will is greatly inferior to and more debased than the sitra achara and kelipah, which are called avodah zarah and “other gods.” He is separated completely from G‑d’s unity and oneness even more than they are as though denying His unity even more radically than they, G‑d forbid.” (Likutei Amarim ch.24)
And another important principle to mention now, linked to the previous ones, is the sacred and fundamental principle of the Preservation of Life, whose transgression is extremely severe: For no person can rectify bloodshed without submitting to Justice, as it is written in Parshah Noah, 'Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed, for in the image of G-d He made mankind.' [Genesis 9:6]. Therefore, bloodshed is one of the most impure transgressions, and the Rabbinical tradition is to avoid it at all costs, even unto death, heaven forfend. And in Jewish Law, we are never permitted to kill anyone extra-judicially, and it would be deemed 'willful murder', heaven forfend.
“You shall not kill.” (Shemot/Exodus 20:12)
“One who fatally strikes another party shall be put to death.” (Shemot/Exodus 21:12)
“If any party kills any human being, that person shall be put to death.  (Vayikra/Leviticus 24:1)
“If, however, a man who is the enemy of another lies in wait and sets upon [the victim] and strikes a fatal blow and then flees to one of these towns…” (Devarim/Deuteronomy 19:11)
“With regard to all other transgressions in the Torah, if a person is told: Transgress this prohibition and you will not be killed, he may transgress that prohibition and not be killed, because the preservation of his own life overrides all of the Torah’s prohibitions. This is the halakha concerning all prohibitions except for  idol worship, forbidden sexual relations, and bloodshed. Concerning those prohibitions, one must allow himself to be killed rather than transgress them.” (Sanhedrin 74a)
“A Sanhedrin that executes once in seven years is characterized as a destructive tribunal.
Rabbi Elazar ben Azarya says: " A Sanhedrin that executes a transgressor once in seventy years”.” (Makkot 1:10)
“True, we find a principle that saving a life overrides other prohibitions, though not the prohibition of idolatry, and similarly, the law sometimes calls for one to commit a transgression rather than be killed.”. (Likkutei Amarim ch.24)
The tradition is clear concerning ‘Jewish’ heretics and atheists, immersed in the wisdom of the nations and in twisted philosophy, who lead other Jews astray into the sitra achara [other side], which is the utterly impure and forbidden kelipah [husks of the hinderside of Holiness], heaven forbid. They must be rebuked and resisted, and this is a commandment, not 'baseless hatred', which we are commanded not to do.
“Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate You?
And do not I strive with those that rise up against You?
I hate them with utmost hatred; I count them my enemies.”
(David HaMelekh, Psalms 139:21-22)
“Rabbi Yishmael said: The fact that the names of G-d in the scrolls of heretics may be burned can be derived through an a fortiori inference: Just as to make peace between a husband and his wife, the Torah says: My name that was written in sanctity shall be erased in the water in the framework of the ordeal of the sota; these, the heretics, who impose jealousy, and hatred, and conflict between the Jewish people and their Father in Heaven, all the more so of them. And with regard to them, the heretics, David said: “For I hate those who hate You, God, and I fight those who rise against You. I hate them with the utmost hatred, they have become enemies to me” [Psalms 139:21–22]. And just as they are not rescued from the fire, neither are they rescued from a rockslide, nor from water, nor from any other matter that destroys them.”
(Shabbat ch. 16)
“As for the statement by King David, peace upon him: “I hate them with a consummate hatred,” (Psalms 139:22) reserving no love for them whatsoever; this refers only to [Jewish] heretics and atheists who have no part in the G‑d of Israel, as stated in the Talmud, top of  ch. 16 Tractate Shabbat.” (Likkutei Amarim ch.32)

“...Which is the mystery of the exile of the Shechinah (the Divine Presence), as our Sages have said: “When the Jews were exiled to Edom, the Shechinah went into exile with them” [Megillah 29a]. It is to say, [in terms of] one’s service [to G-d], this statement means that when one acts like “Edom,” the embodiment of evil, when he sins, he degrades and draws down to there [to Edom, to the kelipot] the Divine spark which vitalizes his nefesh, ruach, and neshamah within him [with G‑dly, holy life; In this way, the Shechinah within him is drawn into exile]. What constitutes “exile” in this case is the fact that the Divine spark gives life to his G‑dly soul, which is clothed in the animal soul of kelipah situated in the left part of his heart, and as long as he remains wicked, the animal soul reigns over him, dominating his “small city” [body, in distinction to the Divine soul reigning over the body]. Thus, the Divine spark within his G‑dly soul is in exile in the kelipah of his animal soul.”  (Likkutei Amarim ch.17)

What can be the end for a nation of Israel that sins and continues to sin, if not further Exile as previously stated? And what can be the Knowledge and Deed of a Jew, if their Wisdom and Understanding are corrupted? And what if a Jew prioritizes the philosophy that 'the end justifies the means', heaven forfend? Would they use their study of the sciences of the nations to aid in the service of HaShem? Or would it be used to justify transgression, sin, Edom, the Other Side, and true evil?

Rabbi Elai said: In three matters a person’s true character is ascertained; in his cup, [i.e., his behavior when he drinks;] in his pocket, [i.e., his conduct in his financial dealings with other people;] and in his anger. And some say: A person also reveals his real nature in his laughter. (Eruvin 65a)

“However, anti-Semitism, which is a strong and unconscious force among the masses, will not harm the Jews. I consider it to be a movement useful to the Jewish character. It represents the education of a group by the masses, and will perhaps lead to its being absorbed. Education is accomplished only through hard knocks. A Darwinian mimicry will set in.” -Herzl May 1895

“By “G-d” I understand the Will to Good! The omnipresent, infinite, omnipotent, eternal Will to Good, which does not immediately prevail everywhere but is always victorious in the end. For which Evil, too, is but a means. How and why, for example, does the Will to Good permit epidemics to exist? Because epidemics cause musty old cities to be torn down and new, bright, healthful cities to come into being, with inhabitants who draw a freer breath. Thus, anti-Semitism, too, probably contains the divine Will to Good, because it forces us to close ranks, unites us through pressure, and through our unity will make us free. My conception of God, is, after all, Spinozistic and also resembles the natural philosophy of the Monists.” -Herzl 14 Aug 1895 [Evil to be permitted to be committed by people?]

“From the very start of $ionism, prominent Jewish leaders viewed it as a rejection of Judaism itself. The chief rabbi of Vienna, Moritz Gudemann, denounced the mirage of Jewish nationalism. “Belief in one G-d was the unifying factor for Jews,” he declared, and $ionism was [and is] incompatible with Judaism’s teachings.” -WRMEA, Israel and Judaism by Allan C. Brownfeld
“In 1929, Orthodox Rabbi Aaron Samuel Tamarat wrote that the very idea of a sovereign Jewish state as a spiritual center was “a contradiction to Judaism’s ultimate purpose.” He declared, “Judaism at root is not some religious concentration which may be localized or situated in a single territory. Neither is Judaism a ‘nationality,’ in the sense of modern nationalism, fit to be woven into the three folded-ness of ‘homeland, Army, and heroic songs.’ No, Judaism is Torah, ethics and exaltation of spirit. If Judaism is truly Torah, then it cannot be reduced to the confines of any particular territory. For as Scripture said of Torah, ‘Its measure is greater than the earth.’(Iyyov/Job 11:9)” -WRMEA, Israel and Judaism by Allan C. Brownfeld
“One of the leading Jewish theologians of the 20th century, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, who marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil rights for all people, said, “Judaism is not a religion of space and does not worship the soil. So, too, the State of Israel is not the climax of Jewish history, but a test of the integrity of the Jewish people and the competence of Israel.”-WRMEA, Israel and Judaism by Allan C. Brownfeld
“Rabbi Israel Meir Kagan [Chofetz Chaim] received protests from many rabbis concerning his silence and lack of objection against the leaders of the $ionist movement as well as against the mocking of religion. By nature, Kagan was a man who avoided quarrels, and in the dispute over the $ionist movement he tried to avert further altercation. Nevertheless, "his heart was broken upon hearing that the leaders of $ionism [were] leading Jews astray in the colonies in Palestine and at home from the ways of the Torah; [...] Kagan's stand was this: He denied "young scholarly-religious students under his jurisdiction [permission] to follow in the footsteps of the irreligious $ionist leaders”,  [Lester Samuel Eckman , The history of the Musar movement, 1840–1945]
"It was not worthwhile to become another Albania, or even another Belgium, after nineteen centuries of suffering. A state must be established on Torah foundations." [Chofetz Chaim]

“On June 27 Miriam Adelson, wife of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and  major contributor to Trump’s campaign, as well as  Birthright Israel and $ionist causes, proposed that the story of Donald Trump, “hero and patriot,” ought to be added to the Bible. Her article, entitled “A Time of Miracles,” appeared in the Israeli daily newspaper Israel Hayom, which her husband owns and she publishes. The paper supports Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, opposes the creation of a Palestinian state and supports annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank. -WRMEA, Israel and Judaism by Allan C. “U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who is an ally of the Israeli settler movement and opposes the creation of a Palestinian state, referred to the relationship between the [apartheids] U.S. and Israel as an “altar of holiness” and the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem as a “shrine.” At a ceremony in Jerusalem, he declared that [apartheid] Israel “was on the side of God.” The U.S. and Israel, he said, should grow even closer, which would be a sign of “holiness.”” -WRMEA, Israel and Judaism by Allan C. Would they care to practice sexual morality, or fall into the completely impure and illicit sexual activities?
Jewish Community Watch says 32 pedophiles moved from countries around the world to Israel in the past decade from 2016. Since 2014, more than 60 people accused of child sex abuse have evaded justice in the US and fled, making the Israeli regime a sanctuary for sex offenders.  “Many of the accused pedophiles go on to abuse children in Israel, such as the case of Jimmy Julius Karow. Karow sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl in Oregon in 2000, but before being indicted in the US, he converted to Judaism and fled to Israel. Two years later, he was convicted of child molestation in an Israeli court for a separate case, and was released from prison after serving time. In 2021, Karow was sentenced to 13 years in prison in Israel for raping an Israeli child, but he is yet to receive justice for his assault on the 9-year-old American girl, whose family has demanded for him to be extradited to the US with no luck thus far. Karow had been successfully evading authorities in the US and Israel for over two decades, and he is not alone.  “Another example is a Brooklyn Rabbi who sexually assaulted three young relatives as young as five years old, and was able to evade justice in Israel for over a decade. Rabbi Gershon Kranczer, who was also a former Yeshiva school principal, abused the young girls from the 1990s through the late 2000s, and fled to Israel the same day his abuse was reported in 2010. He also changed his name and managed to evade capture for 10 years. “Jewish sex offenders who obtain Israeli citizenship through the Law of Return, are not under any restrictions in Israel despite the restrictions they face in the countries where the sexual offenses were committed. Precariously, Israel also has a private national sex offender registry which only the Israeli police and prison services can access. This list, however, only documents convictions in Israel, and does not show their previous convictions. Therefore, pedophiles can still obtain a “Letter of Good Standing” from the police, clearing them to work in schools with children. In addition to this, there is no obligation in Israel to even warn residents about the presence of sex offenders in the community, making it easier for child abusers to find sanctuary there. https://tmj.news/israel-pedophilia/ Therefore, Israel has failed to protect it’s own women and children from abusers, p*dophiles, and r*pists.
“Currently, the age of consent in Israel is 16 for all genders. However, that age of consent can go as low as 14, provided the other sexual partner was no more than three years older and both parties consented. But according to [Avi] Maoz, the Justice Ministry is trying to change this to an age gap of five years.  "A 19-year-old man can have consensual sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl and won't face criminal charges," -Avi Maoz, Knesset Member against this change. www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-741881
“Where do we position, and how can we understand an event in which a Palestinian man was forced to commit a sexual act with a donkey by a border police officer?” (Abu a-Rob 2003)
Rela Mazali's short story “Income Tax, Ramallah” (2019) is a poignant illustration ... It recounts a testimony her partner disclosed to her about what he witnessed during his reserve duty, shortly before the first intifada and when Israel started taxing Palestinians living in the occupied territories. The testimony reveals how a Palestinian man who couldn't pay his family's taxes was allegedly offered to bring his two daughters with him and in return have his debt removed. The man's pleadings did not help. The next time he showed up, he was accompanied by one of his daughters. The soldiers then promptly announced that they were taking a break and will not be receiving anyone. They went with the woman behind a curtain, and the break ended only after both went out. Mazali's partner told her he realized what had happened only once the first came out buttoning his trousers. Mazali's tale-story is not only a testimony of rape and extortion that wasn't filed into any human rights organization. It also exemplifies how sexual violence, how rape, in this case, is tailored into the bureaucracy of the occupation that hunts Palestinians and makes sure—perhaps, especially in cases in which physical force wasn't used—that such an event is more likely to be buried than reported.  www.berghahnjournals.com/view/journals/conflict-and-society/9/1/arcs090105.xml#bib45

Why Is Israel Still Covering Up Extrajudicial Executions Committed by Israel?
“Dead babies, mothers weeping on their children's graves, a gun aimed at a child and bombed-out mosques - these are a few examples of the images Israel Defense Forces soldiers design these days [and have been for decades], to print on shirts they order to mark the end of training, or of field duty. The slogans accompanying the drawings are not exactly anemic either: A T-shirt for infantry snipers bears the inscription "Better use Durex," next to a picture of a dead Palestinian baby, with his weeping mother and a teddy bear beside him. A sharpshooter's T-shirt from the Givati Brigade's Shaked battalion shows a pregnant Palestinian woman with a bull's-eye superimposed on her belly, with the slogan, in English, "1 shot, 2 kills." A "graduation" shirt for those who have completed another snipers course depicts a Palestinian baby, who grows into a combative boy and then an armed adult, with the inscription, "No matter how it begins, we'll put an end to it." www.thepeoplesvoice.org/TPV3/Voices.php/2009/03/26/we-are-the-nazis-of-our-time

“One of the most common questions anyone who has ever written about Palestine or engaged in debate around the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would regularly face is “Why do they [Palestinians] teach their children to hate?” This question is a favoured rhetorical tool of the pro-Israel propagandists because it neatly encapsulates a host of Orientalist and racist implications while never actually making them explicit. By asking this question one is implying that Palestinians do not love their children the way every other culture loves theirs. The question dehumanizes Palestinians and casts them as other and alien, in effect blaming them for their own oppression. “...Another problem is the fact that “The daughters of Israel” is seen to represent only Jewish Israelis and not Palestinian citizens of Israel, even though around twenty per cent of Israelis are in fact Palestinian. Palestinians are thus marginalised and excluded. They are not seen to be legitimate citizens of the state of Israel. They are outsiders and alien to the [Apartheid] of Israel. “...The fourth and final trope is the representation of Palestinians as a demographic threat. There is nothing new in this statement, it is however extremely problematic [AND ANTI-SEMITIC]. The portrayal of Palestinians as a demographic threat is very commonplace in Israeli political discourse. While this description can be traced back the early years of the Israeli state, It was first the Koenig Memorandum in 1976 and then Benjamin Netanyahu in 2003 who mainstreamed the use of the term in reference to the Palestinian citizens of Israel. www.ceasefiremagazine.co.uk/israelis-teach-children-hate/

"In the name of the Israel Settlement, these last three months have been a profound and intentional sin against our fathers' teaching, the Preservation of Life. With thirty thousand human souls perishing in this period, impurity will spread upon the entire faith and upon the innocent. Over half of the slain in Gaza are children.
Not only this, but a Wicked and Tyrannical Sanhedrin that decrees the mass extermination of peoples without just trial in every decade, and commands their execution. The last hospital in Gaza has been completely destroyed. Entire families have been utterly obliterated.
Palestinians cannot breed within themselves a hatred for apartheid Israel more than apartheid Israel itself does. The continuous abuses and sickening tortures inflicted upon the Palestinians they capture still overshadow and defile any transgressions the Palestinians have committed, in any political group. The number of people living in torture and dying from torture in Israeli detention was the central factor in the world's radicalization against Israel before October 7th, and these deaths too must be counted as willful murder. For it justifies its torture methods with a department of physicians, an ugly science of the nations, a disgrace and a perversion of science that is being further driven into evil rather than Holiness. The fact is that in every single decade of the history of Israel, there are cases, showing that this is not a new phenomenon.

Idolatry, Illicit Sexual Relations, Bloodshed, and Baseless Hate: their sins have long reaching consequences that will even demerit the Children of Israel from deserving the Messianic Age, driving the Children of Israel further into exile, and with it, the Divine Presence into Exile as well. G-d fearing Jews as well as all  G-d fearing people must condemn the $ionists, and repent of ever having supported it and not rebuked it, as it written,
“You shall surely rebuke your fellow, but you shall not bear a sin on his account.”
(Vayikra/Leviticus 19:17)
There is ever only one possible way forward, no matter how ugly things may seem to be, no matter how defiled and impure the garments of the soul of Israel may become. For through G-d’s Will, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, will G-d’s ends be fulfilled. The Two kinds of Repentance, as explained in Likkutei Amarim and elaborated in Iggaret HaTeshuvah. This much is clear: $ionists must repent of the wicked intrinsic in $ionism, for behold-
“And it shall come to pass in that day, said HaShem of hosts,
that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land,
and they shall no more be remembered;
and also I will cause the prophets
[those who protest against Edom: the Intermediates/Beinonim and the Righteous/Tzadikim]
and the unclean spirit [bound together with the Edom-obsessed Fully Wicked/Rashaim]
to pass out of the land.” (Zechariah 13:2)
“Indeed, the  beginning of the mitzvah of Teshuvah (Return/Repentance) and its core is a true and wholehearted return to G-d”. (Iggaret HaTeshuvah ch. 4)
“However, the true and direct path to the lower level of teshuvah (return or repentance), …, involves two general elements.
“The first is to awaken supreme compassion from the Source of mercy for one’s Divine spirit and soul, ... “As the verse states: ‘He shall return to G-d, and He will have compassion for him’
(Isaiah 55:7) …
“The second element [in one’s preparation for a true and direct path to repentance] is to crush and subdue the kelipah and sitra achara [the otherside, evil]” (Iggaret HaTeshuvah Ch.7)
“The mind, by virtue of its inherent nature, is master over the left part of the heart [the center of passion], the seat of the animal soul, whence come one’s mundane desires and evil thoughts, and over the mouth and the other bodily organs, which are the instruments of action.
“This is true of everyone except he who is truly wicked [that is, not the beinoni/intermediate who is considered “like a rasha/wicked person” but one who is truly a rasha; in his case, it cannot be said that his mind is master over his heart].
“Like our Sages state that “the wicked are under the control of their heart” (Bereishit Rabbah /Genesis Lot 34:11, 67:7), but their heart is not under their control at all—they are unable to master the desires of their heart, for their mind has no active control over it. This is a punishment for the enormity and potency of their sinfulness.
“The Torah does not speak of the dead, that is, those wicked ones who are considered dead even during their lifetime. Indeed, it is impossible for the wicked to begin to serve G‑d, that is, to observe the mitzvot out of a feeling of love and fear of G-d, without first repenting for their past.
“In order to shatter the kelipot that were made by their sins, which form a sundering curtain and an “iron wall” that interposes between them and their Father in Heaven, By means of contriteness of heart and bitterness of soul over one’s sins,
“As the Zohar interprets the verse “The sacrifices to G-d are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart…” (Tehilim/Psalms 51:18) For through one’s breaking his heart, the unclean spirit of the sitra achara is broken,
“(See Zohar on Parshat Pinchas, p. 240, and on Parashat Vayikra, p. 8 and p. 5a, and the commentary of Rabbi Moshe Zacuto thereon).
“This is the lower category of repentance, whereby the lower letter hey [the final letter of the name 4 letter name of G-d ‘Havaya’, representing the Divine Presence,] is raised up from its fall into the forces of evil [the kelipot],
“Which is the mystery of the Shechinah (the Divine Presence and Revelation of The Holy One in our World) in exile, as our Sages have said: “When the Jews were exiled to Edom, the Shechinah went into exile with thsem.”
“In a spiritual sense, in terms of one’s service to G‑d, this statement means that when one acts like “Edom,” the embodiment of evil, when he sins, he degrades and draws down to Edom, [to the kelipot,] the Divine spark which vitalizes his nefesh, ruach, and neshamah [with G‑dly, holy life. In this way, the Shechinah] within him [is drawn into exile.]
“What constitutes “exile” in this case is the fact that the Divine spark gives life to his G‑dly soul, which is clothed in the animal soul of kelipah situated in the left part of his heart, and as long as he remains wicked, the animal soul reigns over him, dominating his “small city,” [his body]. Thus, the Divine spark within his G‑dly soul is in exile in the kelipah of his animal soul, and nefesh, ruach, and neshamah are thus held captive in exile under it.
“When the heart of the rasha is broken within him and thereby, the spirit of uncleanliness and of the sitra achara are broken [and the forces of evil]  dispersed,
then [the lower hey of the Divine Name, the Shechinah]—rises from its fall and stands firm, as discussed elsewhere [such as Zohar,  Iggaret HaTeshuvah, Reishit Chokmah, etc].

In 1 John 1, John revealed the difference between the good guys who walk in the light and the bad guys who walk in darkness. A spiritual showdown plays out, with God as the ultimate good guy.
Light vs. Dark
First John 1:5 tells us that "God is light." Not a light and not the light—God is light. The original Greek indicates that God's essence—His very nature—is light. The effect of light is to make something visible; something that you couldn't see before is now illuminated.
John followed a positive, "God is light," with a negative, "and in Him is no darkness at all," to underscore that God is 100 percent light. The opposite of light is darkness, and John called darkness "sin" (v. 7). Sin is any outward action of disobedience or inner attitude of defiance. Sin is lawlessness, and John wanted to show us who the outlaws are.
Showdown with the Saints
Saints—believers—have a sin problem just like unbelievers. We Christians can walk in darkness. And in our sin, we can deceive others. "If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth" (1 John 1:6).
Christians who walk in darkness are living a lie, and living a lie misrepresents the Lord and misdirects unbelievers. The light in our lives should attract the lost, not repel them. Few things are more repellant than living a lie.
By contrast, we can "walk in the light as He is in the light" (v. 7). The light John referred to is spiritual truth. When you walk in the light, you're walking in spiritual truth. When people watch you, do they see that you follow biblical principles? Your good works often reveal the biblical principles that you live by. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).
Walking in the light has a socializing effect: "We have fellowship with one another" (1 John 1:7). People who are walking in light will seek out and find others who are walking in light. Walking in the light also has a sanctifying effect: "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (v. 7). To walk in the light doesn't mean to achieve sinlessness. It means you have the opportunity for light to continually increase in you and cleanse you.
Showdown with the Self
For believers, walking in darkness results in lying to others and, ultimately, to themselves. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8). Christians can walk in darkness yet convince themselves that everything's okay. In verse 8, "no sin" means "no sin nature." John was describing the person who denies that they're a sinner by nature. But the Bible says that we do, in fact, have a sin nature. Psalm 51:5 says that sin enters us at birth: "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me."
You're not a sinner because you do sinful things. You do sinful things because you're a sinner. You were born a sinner; that's why you need a Savior.
Showdown with the Savior
"If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (1 John 1:10). Walking in darkness results in lying to others, lying to ourselves, and, worst of all, lying to God about God. This increasingly destructive course of sin is what John was trying to prevent. He didn't want you to end up in a showdown with the Savior—and neither do I.
The remedy, of course, is confession. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (v. 9). Confession means to say the same thing or to agree with God. Confession both cancels sin and cleanses the stain of sin. God's forgiveness removes the sin itself as well as the repercussions of sin.
Closing
As believers, we have an Advocate. "If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1 John 2:1). An advocate is one who speaks in our defense. Jesus Christ the righteous is our defense. When Jesus shed His blood on the cross, He paid the penalty for sin as demanded by God. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

Jewish Tradition vs $ionism
“Behold- to fear he Master is Wisdom, And to depart from evil is Understanding” (Iyyov/Job 28:28)

“You shall not hate your brother in your heart.” (Vayikra/Leviticus 19:17)

“He came before Rabbi Hillel. He converted him and said to him: That which is hateful to you do not do to another; that is the entire Torah, and the rest is its interpretation. Go study.”  (Shabbat 31a)
And it should not need expounding, that the tradition confirms the calamity of the Shechinah's [The Divine  Presence] exile due to the sins of the people of Israel, heaven forfend. Every individual of Israel can drive away the Divine Presence with their deeds, heaven forfend.

(Eruvin 65a)
“A man who invents a terrible explosive does more for peace than a thousand gentle apostles.” -[Father of Political $ionism] Theodor Herzl Diaries, May 1895
“In Paris, then, I gained a freer attitude toward anti-Semitism which I now began to understand historically and make allowances for.” -Herzl May 1895
“However, anti-Semitism, which is a strong and unconscious force among the masses, will not harm the Jews. I consider it to be a movement useful to the Jewish character. It represents the education of a group by the masses, and will perhaps lead to its being absorbed. Education is accomplished only through hard knocks. A Darwinian mimicry will set in.” -Herzl May 1895
“Throughout our two thousand years of dispersion, we have been without unified political leadership. I regard this as our chief misfortune. It has done us more harm than all the persecutions. This is why we have inwardly gone to rack and ruin. For there has been no one to train us to become real men, even if only out of imperial selfishness.” -Herzl 2 Jun 1895
“Out of this proletariat of intellectuals I shall form the general staff and the cadres of the army which is to seek, discover, and take over the land.” -Herzl 3 Jun 1895
“We shall probably model the constitution after that of Venice” -Herzl 7 Jun 1985
“German Theatre, International Theatre, Operas, Operettas, circuses, Cafe Champs Elysees” -Herzl 7 Jun 1985
“We must not only copy Paris, Florence, etc, but seek a Jewish style expressive of relief and liberty” -Herzl 8 Jun 1895
“The anti-Semites will become our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies.” -Herzl 12 Jun 1895

“Throughout our two thousand years of dispersion, we have been without unified political leadership. I regard this as our chief misfortune. It has done us more harm than all the persecutions. But the rabbis will be pillars of my organization and I shall honor them for it. They will arouse the people, instruct them on the boats, and enlighten them on the other side.

The Rape-culture evident in decades old, still ongoing Israeli Soldier Custom clothing tradition: “There are also plenty of shirts with blatant sexual messages.

“Peled-Elhanan’s book was a major study of 17 Israeli school textbooks on history, geography and civic studies.

For through G-d’s Will, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, will G-d’s ends be fulfilled. The Two kinds of Repentance, as explained in Likkutei Amarim and elaborated in Iggaret HaTeshuvah. This much is clear: $ionists must repent of the wicked intrinsic in $ionism, for behold-
“And it shall come to pass in that day, said HaShem of hosts,
that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land,
and they shall no more be remembered;
and also I will cause the prophets
(Likkutei Amarim ch.17)

Honestly, the solution is to just use the correct word: heterodoxy. Not everything is heresy, for literal God's sake.
Heresy has to do with theology, heterodoxy with philosophy.
Theology, as called theosophy, is thought about God and the world based on reason, Scripture, and mystical insight. This is what separates Christianity from Jainism. Two separate religions. We literally worship different gods.
Heresy is a religious theology and/or doctrine destructive of the truth of God and his mission to the world. This is the difference between Christianity and Mormonism/Gnosticism/Adoptionism etc. Also, while I'm at it, saying something like "God hates [insert group or person]" is heresy. I love that bishop (i think) that said it's blasphemous, but he's wrong. Believing that God hates any person is not blasphemous, it is heretical for any Christian (this does not apply to Jews or Muslims; love yall, go in peace).
Doctrine is a third thing: the authoritative body of teachings, and principles accepted by a body of believers. Catholics and Protestants, for example, have different doctrines but the same theology. Same God. Same religion. So NO catholics/protestants, protestants/catholics are not heretics. You worship the same God. Deal with it.
Then you have
Philosophy is the general beliefs, concepts, attitudes, opinions, intellectual methods, and leadership of a school of thought. This is like Arminianism vs Calvinism. Sadly, no Calvinism is not heresy. They technically have the same theology as other Christians, their philosophy is just really sucky (no offense).
Heterodoxy is religious philosophy that differs from prevailing opinions and beliefs but is distinctly not heretical. So for example this would be something like Universalism or believing in Conditional Immortality (as opposed to natural immortality).
Then on the lower side of the spectrum you have something like
Tradition is the information, beliefs, and customs of a group handed down from one generation to the next. So like Anglican vs Methodist. Similar philosophy, different traditions (which is why i don't yet know which i prefer).
Preference: personal liking or interest. I have a preference against the pastor at my church because i can't stand his preaching (pray for me yall T-T)
For some final words people use wrong:
Sin: to hate or be indifferent. Let me explain: Sin comes from a word meaning "to miss the mark" or iow, to fail at a purpose. Humans were made in the image of God, God is Love, humans are made in the image of love. It is the purpose of the human to love and to create life and beauty and goodness (in whatever way God calls you to. Parenting, science, art, activism, medecine, poetry, architecture, wtv). Thus, if to sin is to fail at the purpose and the purpose of the human is to love, to sin is to fail at loving - hatred and/or indifference. This is also why homosexuality is not a sin. But if you hate gay/trans/etc people, you are in sin.
Transgression: to betray or rebell. You steal from some rando, that's sin. You steal from your brother, that's transgression. Also, for the divorce/abuse issue: transgression is listed as a reason for divorce. This means adultery, obviously. To commit adultery is to betray the person you're supposed to love. It also includes abuse. To abuse your beloved, child, friend, etc is an act of transgression against them and God.
Iniquity: wickedness, crookedness. God made something one way, you perverted it into another way. I don't feel like i need to explain this one; it's pretty on the nose. One way this is used a lot tho, is the oppression of the weak. God says we are to love the poor and the immigrant and the widow and the orphan. To oppress those groups is to pervert God's law, AND it is to make his name less holy because he attached his name to us. This is why sin, transgression, and iniquity are big deals because they chase people away from God and turn God into this monster. See: the crusades and the inquisition and the transatlantic slave trade and the war on gay people and -
Anyway. I am well aware that words don't mean things, but rather people mean things by words. But also words freaking mean things!!!
sometimes…. religious theology that’s “““heresy”““….. is better

The Bible Study –
Our readings for Tuesday, July 30 are 1st Samuel 15:10-35 & Acts 24:24 – 25:12.
The primary sin of the Amalekites, and other pagan peoples, is that they put their trust and faith into false demonic ‘gods’ and evil rituals.
The Lord gave King Saul an order to completely destroy the Amalekites, who had persecuted Israel, and to destroy their livestock.
Saul disobeys.
He holds the Amalekite King captive, and allows the Israelites to take the best livestock.
Disobedient Saul tries to deflect blame, saying the livestock will be sacrificed to the Lord, and that he feared his people who wanted to keep them.
This doesn’t work with God.
The prophet Samuel responds:
“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,     as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,     and to listen than the fat of rams.   For rebellion is as the sin of divination,     and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,     he has also rejected you from being king.” (vs. 22-23)
Martin Luther wrote, “In Scripture faith is called obedience.” (AE 30:30)
Faith in the Lord and His Word is what’s at stake here.
Saul’s sin is a violation of the 1st & 2nd Commandments.
His authority from God was conditional on the King’s faithfulness to the Almighty.
Divination, foretelling the future by the stars or consulting with mediums, is used as examples by Samuel of failing to trust solely in God, and instead seek sinful, occult knowledge and power.
Today we see widespread interest in astrology, ‘new-age mysticism,’ the patronizing of mediums, parents tragically introducing their children to the occult through books like Harry Potter.
All this is a violation of the 1st & 2nd Commandments and God’s express prohibition against occult practices in the Bible. (Isaiah 47:13; Lev. 20:6; Deut. 18:10-11)
Such involvement jeopardizes our relationship with the Lord, and leads people away from Christ, and their eternal salvation.

Psalm 38:18 says:  I will confess my iniquity; I am very sorry for my sin.  This means that I am supposed to confess all that I have done wrong in Your eyes.  First, I want to inform all of you that I urinated on myself when I was six years old.  The reason why is because I was too afraid to go to the bathroom at my mother's house.  She whipped me with a belt for urinating on the bed.  Second, I had learned how to use Vulgarity at the age of five years old.  This is because my aunt cursed her mother for getting pregnant at the age of 14.  My grandparents knew that she was having sex with a grown man.  Third, I asked my aunt what was wrong because her only son died from Sid's at the age of mine months.  Fourth, I remember when I caught TB at the age of 11 years old. My grandparents took me to the hospital and I had to stay away from school for a month and a half.  My mother became very angry because her husband caught the disease from drinking alcohol after his friends.  Fifth, I do remember giving my sister's a haircut with a pair of scissors.  My family members whipped me for nine years.  I got into a fistfight over cutting my sister's hair.
I still have a state of uneasiness for all of my iniquities.  I remember stealing from my own mother.  I took thirty dollars from my mother's purse and I went downtown and I bought a gym bag.  I do remember when I tried to steal a candy bar at the store.  I still feel bad for stealing candy at the store and I had to go over my grandparents house and stay for four years.  I do remember getting into a fistfight with a girl at school.  She smacked me in my face because I had accidentally bumped into her at school.  Later that day, I shot her with my rifle.  Sixth, I remember when I shot 36 birds in one day.  The police chased me and my cousin home.  I do remember when I slapped my grandma because she punished me for fighting my sister. My sister got pregnant at the age of 14 by a grown man.  She also got pregnant two years later at the age of 16.  My sister and I do not speak to each other anymore.
Finally, these are an example of some of my sins that I had committed in my life.  I am still dealing with the repercussions of my sins.  It is all my fault for injuring my family members and other people for the things that they have done to me personally.  I forgave my mother's husband for stabbing me in my left arm with a hookknife.  I told the police that he was too old to go to jail.  I also forgiven my mother for changing my last name.  Life had dealt me a bad hand for the sins that I have committed even as an adult because I am a mentally ill man, who has a very high IQ.  At least I graduated from college twice.  I have worked with some troubled kids for three years.  I have worked 12 years inside of college libraries in Toledo, Ohio and Charlotte, NC.  I had a good life right now.  I have been clean and sober for 33 years now.  I love all of my family members very much.  All 38 nieces and nephews do not respect me as a person.  Lord Jesus, please intervene between my family vs myself.  This is not my fault.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

okay sure thats great have you reread 3 Nephi recently by any chance? maybe even 3 Nephi 2:15 “And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;”? or perhaps 2 Nephi 5:21 “And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.”??
or maybe even Jacob 3:8 “O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought with them before the throne of God.”
“oh but those are just specific lines from the BoM, they don’t apply to the religion as a whole, most of us don’t believe in that” okay but what about the fact the entire story of the Nephites and the Lamanites is wildly racist and paints non-white people specifically Native Americans as needing to be converted BACK to christianity after they lost their faith and subsequently their whiteness in ancient times. isnt that funny how LDS doctrine explicitly justifies the colonisation the church uses to spread its beliefs to most of the time poor communities of colour under the guise of being humanitarian work? isnt that just CRAZY. surely this means NOTHING about the racism ingrained into mormonism
and dont even get me started on the way the Nephites vs Lamanites story is taught to mormons from childhood . do not even get me started
(sorry to have picked on this person in particular, this is me commenting on a general trend not them specifically. i’m just using this post as an example of a broader trend in online mormon communities)
phenomenon i am sick of witnessing:
random white queer mormon online: i’m so sick of everyone acting like mormonism is an inherently hateful religion. it makes being queer and mormon even harder!! truly the scriptures say you should love everyone no matter what.
other, non-mormon person: that’s fair, but what about the racism in mormonism?
aforementioned white queer mormon: the what
non-mormon: the racism that’s like built into the church
mormon: hateful people don’t make up the entire community!! stop defining mormonism by its bad actors, queer mormons literally exist so clearly mormonism doesn’t have to be about hate
non-mormon: what do queer mormons existing have to do with racism
mormon: clearly you’ve never met MY ward, the uniquely un-prejudiced ward where everyone loves everyone and everybodys super progressive. sometimes we watch general conference and don’t even agree with the speakers on some stuff actually
and then the mormon person refuses to acknowledge any of the systemic racism in mormonism and calls any criticism of the scriptures and the ‘backstory’ of mormonism religious discrimination and insensitive. and nobody learns anything

BIBLICAL CLASSIFICATION OF WRONG-DOING
“I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” Psalm 32:5.
It is true that some folks have the mindset of concrete: thoroughly mixed up and profusely set. They would argue with the proverbial signpost, but they cannot argue with God, neither may they box with Him because their arm is too short! So, it is not the burden of men to convince one another that they are sinners. The Holy Spirit witnesses that in every heart. But the idea of sin may be better understood in the simplistic terms of “Use” and “Misuse.”
Get it straight, and never forget it! God is righteous, but men are not. If men are not righteous; they are sinners, big time! Some jovial chap will roar that all sin is sin, and there is no difference in them to God. It is amusing that so many seem to know the mind of God in these matters without a specific scripture reference. If all sin is the same, why are there at least three categories of it: transgression, iniquity, and sin? Psalm 32:5. If all sin is the same, why were some sins worthy of death, and others could be atoned for? If all sin is the same why did Jesus say the Pharisees would receive the greater condemnation? Certainly, one sin of any sort is unacceptable to God as Adam and Eve sinned in Eden. But, beyond that the saints have to deal with their sinful nature every day of their life, and there is a wide array of sins. So leaving “Iniquity” and “Transgression” for another time, let us focus on the term “Sin.”
“Sin” means “to miss the mark!” To miss the mark of anything assumes the mark was intended to be hit, but missed. Thus, sin is the misuse of every possible thing in life. Think about the common sins of men. “Greed” is the misuse of things material or immaterial acquired in excess, and restricted to the individual, when enough of those things are already made available for one to serve and honor God day by day. It is use vs misuse. Alcohol and other drugs were made by the same God who created everything else. They have a purpose: medicinal, not recreational. It is a simple matter of use vs misuse. Sexual activity was created to insure the survival of the species, thus placed within honorable perimeters. Outside of those perimeters it is misuse; hence, sin. Language may be loving or vile; a matter of use vs misuse. Human Relationships may be gentle, kind and loving, or abusive, harsh, and mean. It is a matter of emotional use vs misuse.
In the wide spectrum of all things, the apostle Paul boldly declared, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” I Cor. 10:23. In short, all things God created have purpose and rightful use, but the practice of men has established misuse; it does not edify; simply put, it is sin!
FOR THOUGHT: Do you ever misuse things or people? Have you learned that misuse is sin? Think about common sins of misuse in your life. How may you correct these?

Speak the truth with each other
Lying lips are extremely disgusting to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.
Proverbs 12:22
"Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”—Acts 5:4
Do you ever find yourself “fudging” the truth in everyday life situations?
Perhaps you justify doing so because you believe you’re keeping the peace or sparing hurting someone’s feelings. Maybe in your opinion, you’re not really being dishonest or deceptive but rather managing conversations and situations for the best.
Possibly you leave out details because you don’t want people to know what’s really motivating your actions. Or maybe you only tell partial truth because you want someone to have a certain impression about you.
Yet Scripture is pretty straightforward in instructing Christians to “Speak the truth to each other” (Zechariah 8:16).
As well as Proverbs 22:21 urges you to be honest and speak the truth.
In Leviticus 19, God gave Moses’ guidelines for Israel to live by, including “Do not defraud or rob your neighbor (vs. 13).
Although many may not consider “fudging the truth” a form of defrauding, it’s robbing another of truth with an intention to be misleading.
A really severe example of the seriousness of defrauding is in Acts 5, where a couple named Ananias and Sapphira sold land and brought the money to give to the Apostles. Instead of saying they were keeping some of it for themselves, they mislead the group to believe they were giving the total amount received.
Act 5:2 describes how “With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet.”
In today’s standards, it wouldn’t seem like a big deal but both were immediately struck dead and carried away from the scene (Acts 5:5-10).
Although today’s culture may not understand why this deadly incident occurred, Acts 5:4 explains why it was such a serious situation. “You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”
Still, with “fudging” so widespread in present-day culture, most believe there isn’t anything wrong in practicing it. Instead of seeing it as defrauding others and a sin against God, people rationalize its use.
As you go about your daily life, ask God to help you not to defraud those around you.
Ask Him to show you any areas where you may have failed and confess your sin to Him. Psalm 32:5 states how when you acknowledge your sin and you do not cover up your iniquity, God forgives and frees you from the guilt of it.
Choose today to speak the truth in all your dealings with others.

MATTHEW 3 :TRUE TEPENTANCE
Tumblr media
I. THE FIRST WORD OF GOD TO MAN IN THE NEW TESTAMENT. REPENT.
A. Vs. 2 John came preaching in the wilderness saying, "Repent"
B. What does it mean to repent?
1. One definition is to have a change of mind.
2. Another is to have a feeling of conviction.
3. You can change your mind without repenting.
4. You can also have conviction or sorrow about your actions without repentance.
a. You can say that you are sorry for what you have done, however if you keep doing it, it is not true repentance.
b. Real repentance is being so sorry that you never do it again.
5. If a person declares that he has repented for a certain action or sin, and if they continue in that same action, there is good reason to doubt the genuineness of the repentance.
C. Repentance is the first step in salvation.
1. When on the day of Pentecost, and the people were convicted at the preaching of Peter and inquired what they should do Peter answered, "Repent, and be baptized into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will receive gift of the Holy Spirit."
2. The first word of the gospel was repent.
3. This is the first sign that we look for as an indication that the Holy Spirit is truly working in a persons life.
4. It is only as there is true repentance, is there any hope of restoration.
D. The scripture declares that Godly sorrow worketh repentance but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
1. Note there are two kinds of sorrow, Godly sorrow, and worldly sorrow, the one works repentance, and the other works death.
E. It is interesting that when Jesus was writing to the seven churches in Asia, He called five of the seven to repent.
1. For God to work in my life, the first step is repentance.
2. The first work of the Spirit in my life is that of repentance.
F. With true repentance is the necessity of forgiveness. That is not an option, it is a command.
G. Namesake / people pleasing repentance is such a hurtful thing. When a person has declared their repentance of a certain act, and then you find that they are continuing in that same action, it hurts deeply.
II. JOHN IS CALLING FOR THE PEOPLE TO BRING FORTH FRUIT, THAT DEMONSTRATED A TRUE REPENTANCE.
A. This is exactly what the Lord wants to see, fruit that demonstrates that the sin has been not only renounced, but forsaken.
B. There are certain precautions that need to be taken, when one has realized that they have a problem in a certain area of their lives.
1. If you are an alcoholic you do not go to a bar to buy a coke.
2. If you have had a problem with women, you do not speak to them in a provocative or suggestive way.
3. If you have a problem with gambling, Las Vegas, Goa is not the place for your vacation.
C. The fruit of repentance is the complete forsaking of the sin, or anything that is even close to or could be associated with the sin.
D. Another fruit is a broken and a contrite heart. David said, "You do not want sacrifice or offering. But a broken and a contrite spirit, you will not despise."
1. The sacrifice and offering without a true repentance is worthless.
2. Prayer without repentance is deceptive.
a. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me when I pray.
b. ISA 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. In other words, there was no fruit of repentance.
c. Isa. 1:15 When you spread forth your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. When you make many prayers, I will not hear. What is the problem? There hands are full of blood.
d. Jer. 14:12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry. And when they offer burnt offering and oblation, I will not accept them.
III. WHAT BRINGS TRUE REPENTANCE?
A. Paul said that the goodness of God leads us to repentance.
1. I need to know that God loves me and will forgive me.
2. I need to know that God can work the changes in my life.
a. He can change my desires, or can give me power over the desire.
B. An awareness of the horrible consequences of my sin.
1. The hurt pain and sorrow it has brought to others.
2. The anger and bitterness it has engendered against God in the minds of others.
a. The prophet when facing David concerning his sin, declared, "You have given great cause for the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme."
3. To realize that your sin may be responsible for giving people an excuse to not accept Jesus Christ.
a. To think that my name is being used by the enemies of the gospel to prove that the gospel is not effective in changing lives.
b. To realize that in a way, I have crucified the Son of God afresh, and put Him to open shame.
C. These are the things that if taken to heart will bring Godly sorrow.
1. And it is the Godly sorrow that worketh repentance.
2. It is much more than just saying I repent.
a. You can write that on the board one hundred times and still not have truly repented.
b. The true repentance will be manifested by the complete ceasing of the sin, the renouncing of it, and a hatred toward it.

From Great to Lesser
May 4, 2020
Read: Psalm 32:1-7 NIV      Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.      When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.      Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Meditation
You know you're safe from lesser dangers when you're safe from the ultimate one.
David, this song's writer, is expressing the wonder of having his sins forgiven.  Before he found forgiveness there was guilt and shame.  Life was psychologically hard.  There was the knowledge that the just judgment of God was hanging over his head.  He had, after all, committed both adultery and murder.  Those are two heavy-duty offenses.  But then, Jesus said that things like lusting and being angry at someone without a righteous cause are heavy-duty offenses, too.
But then David experienced what anyone can.  Forgiveness.  He came clean about his actions and confessed them to God.  No excuses.  No justifications.  Just ownership.  When he did this, God forgave him.  Forgiveness doesn't mean God forgets about our sin.  God doesn't get amnesia.  It means He treats us as though our sin never happened; He doesn't take our sin into account when deciding how He feels about us or what He wants to do to us.  It means that just judgment never comes.  We're off the hook.  We're free.
So, David reasons, why would we ever question if God would protect us from trouble in this world since He has lovingly spared us from ultimate trouble in the next one?
I think we often underestimate God's desire to protect His children and see them flourish.  If you have children, what is your instinct when it comes to protecting them?  What is your desire to see them have happy, meaningful, and satisfying lives?  Our desires for our kids are but a small, broken reflection of God's desires toward His children!  God's desire to protect us from harm and set us up to flourish was so great that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die so it could happen.
So when trouble comes your way, remember you are in a safe place.  You are in a loving relationship with the sovereign God of creation.  When all is falling apart, you will be protected.  Nothing can ruin you.  Nothing can destroy the life you've built when you've built it in partnership with God.
______________________________
Reflection
What do you most fear losing right now?  What would your life be like if you lost it?
Have you experienced deliverance from judgment for your sin?  On what do you base your answer?  How secure do you feel in your relationship with God?
How have you seen God's protection on you in the past?  What should you expect God to do as you move into the future?
________________________________
Digging Deeper
Read Psalm 32:8-9. Here God is speaking. What does vs. 8 indicated about one way God protects us and enables us to flourish?
What is vs  9 pleading with us to do?  How does this apply to us?
Read Psalm 32:10-11.  Now David is again speaking. What keeps those who trust in God from experiencing woe?  What word picture is being presented here?
What is woe?

Okay, so I’m fascinated with the idea of Jewish Severus Snape
Somehow despite literally studying antisemitic stereotypes of Jews and being a Snape fan since at least 2007, I only recently realized that Snape is pretty heavily coded with antisemitic stereotypes. To quote from this blog post that goes back to 2005:
In Snape, Rowling has created a angry villain who has a hooked nose, greasy dark hair, sallow skin and glittering dark eyes, an inscrutable, sneering, untrustworthy double agent -- who hisses.
I’d also like to add in the rumors that Snape is a vampire/he’s often described as being bat-like, which could easily be tied into blood libel.
As much as I’m not thrilled by this, I’ve decided to embrace it. If JKR is going to code Snape as Jewish, I’m going to run with it. Also it might subconsciously be part of what drew me to him in the first place.
As I’ve been mulling this over, I’ve started thinking about how his atonement seems very Jewish to me. I started doing some research (I’m Jewish but also not super religious, so I needed a refresher).
Here is some general information about Jewish ideas about repentance:
In the Jewish tradition, repentance is called teshuvah , a Hebrew word translated as “returning.” One of the Hebrew words for sin is chet, which in Hebrew means “to go astray.” Thus the idea of repentance in Jewish thought is a return to the path of righteousness.
Teshuvah can be done at any time, but the High Holiday season, and Yom Kippur especially, is considered an especially auspicious time for it. The process of repentance, as laid out by Maimonides, includes three stages: confession, regret and a vow not to repeat the misdeed. The true penitent, Maimonides says, is the one who finds himself with the opportunity to commit the same sin again yet declines to do so.
(Source: https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/repentance/)
And here:
If a person transgresses any of the mitzvot of the Torah, whether a positive command or a negative command - whether willingly or inadvertently - when he repents, and returns from his sin, he must confess before God, blessed be, He as [Numbers 5:6-7] states: "If a man or a woman commit any of the sins of man... they must confess the sin that they committed."This refers to a verbal confession. This confession is a positive command. How does one confess: He states: "I implore You, God, I sinned, I transgressed, I committed iniquity before You by doing the following. Behold, I regret and am embarrassed for my deeds. I promise never to repeat this act again."These are the essential elements of the confessional prayer. Whoever confesses profusely and elaborates on these matters is worthy of praise.
(Source: https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/911888/jewish/Chapter-One.htm)
This fits Snape’s story arc so well. It seems as if there is some distinction between sins against God vs. sins against other people, and in some ways I think both apply here. He follows the cycle of confession, regret and the promise not to repeat the action for essentially being the cause of Lily’s death. This starts with going to Dumbledore and pleading for his help, continues with the impact that this even clearly has on his life going forward (the Patronus is a lasting reminder of his regret), and that despite appearances, he’s firmly against Voldemort here on out. But he’s also wronged Harry (he didn’t care if the boy lived, only Lily, when he approached Dumbledore). And he spends the rest of his life making up for it, making sure Harry stays alive, and giving Harry the information he needed with his dying breath. And I’d say having Harry name one of his kids after Snape shows that he was granted forgiveness.
From this approach, Snape went astray, and then went through the process of attoning for his mistakes, and as a result is able to find redemption. It allows for mistakes to be made and for the person not to be defined by their mistakes if they put in the work to right the wrongs. Which really just fits beautifully with the character arc.
