Always suggested: bb.objects ON, it makes placing items much easier. For further placement tweaking, check out the TOOL mod. Start typing “animal crossing lunch break” into the search query in build mode to find quickly. You can always find items like this, just begin typing the title and it will appear.
Use the scale up & down feature on your keyboard to make the items larger or smaller to your liking. If you have a non-US keyboard, it may be different keys depending on which alphabet it uses.

Second Half Blitz Repels Rebels
Bearden 4 at Maryville 2
Tuesday, April 23, 2024 7pm
MARYVILLE—Jack Tirgrath scored a goal and an assist as Bearden’s second half rally turned back Maryville 4-2 Tuesday at John Sevier Elementary field.
The first half delivered a fast-paced and evenly matched forty minutes that went to the break tied at 0-0.
Just after the second half kickoff, Jack Raulston broke things open when he won the ball at the arc, then quickly found a gap to score from twenty yards, showing off his left foot for a second straight game.
Three minutes later, Dillon Sims slipped a beautiful, short cross to Omar Hewezi in close, who buried it to put the Bulldogs up 2-0.
Tirgrath’s goal came off a long arching pass into the box from Lucas Ford, as he alertly settled and put it into goal. Minutes later, the hustling, senior midfielder launched a shot from the right flank that the keeper mishandled, and sophomore Omar Ardahji quickly pounced and netted the ball from six yards.
Despite being down two goals, the Rebels attacked the net relentlessly, firing eight shots-on-goal in the second period. Bearden goalkeeper Logan Nelson was impenetrable however, blocking, punching, saving, and clearing any and all shots as he blanked the opposition in yet another impressive performance.
Middle back Cole Stopka read and erased any threats to the backline, and showed vision from the backfield as he initiated several attacks from long range. Encroaching outside defender Nic Prins controlled his right lane from goal line to goal line, and junior forward Jashua Garcia showed some fancy footwork late as Bearden iced the game.
Two late, unlikely Rebel goals, both during the seventy-fifth minute, were surely caused by the full moon that appeared as darkness fell and the clock ticked down on the final 4-2 Bearden win.
Goals: JACK RAULSTON (42’ unassisted); OMAR HEWEZI (45’ Dillon Sims); JACK TIRGRATH (64’ Lucas Ford); OMAR ARDAHJI (69’ Jack Tirgrath); Maryville (75’); Maryville (75’).
Shots/Shots-on-goal: BHS 17/7 MHS 13/8. Corner Kicks: BHS 5 MHS 5. Fouls: BHS 8 MHS 7. Yellow Card: BHS#11 (47’). Conditions: grass pitch, fast, breezy, 60 degrees.Attendance: 396.
Outside the box.........Maryville has done a good job developing their field at John Sevier Elementary over the years with a nice surface and fan friendly stands and walkways.........the JVs defeated Maryville JV 5-0, and entertain Farragut JV today at 6pm—come out and cheer the boys on.........Woof!

Unnamed Sims 4 story pt. 2
II
“We~elcome back to bedroom wars! The game show where new roommates pick their rooms.” Piers blasted mimicking having a microphone and placed himself between the two room doors. “And here’s our first contestant! Ali~x Lidelle!” Alix left the bathroom and shook his head at Pier’s over the top dramatics.
“Shouldn’t we look in them first?” Alix asked, crossing his arms.
“Where’s the fun in that?” Piers broke character to scoff at Alix. Then he went right back to his game show persona. “Now Alix, for your bedroom. You have two choices. Door number 1 or door number 2? You have thirty seconds on the clock.”
“Are you actually counting?” Alix asked as Piers clicked his tongue to imitate a ticking clock. Alix couldn’t decide between the two blank rooms, too distracted by how accurate his clock imitation was.
“I guess I take uh. That one.” Alix pointed at the door on the right.
“You picked door number 2!” Piers called and opened the door to the empty room. “That leaves our second contestant, Piers Darlen with room number 1!” And Piers opened the other door to an equally empty room.
“Piers!” Alix snapped, breaking Piers' character. “Didn’t you move in the furniture?”
“The furniture?” Piers laughed. “I just turned eighteen, I can’t afford furniture.” Alix covered his mouth, one finger pushing up his nose.
“Piers. There’s no beds.” Alix said after a pause. “Where are we meant to sleep?”
“The floor? Haven’t you ever slept on the floor before?” Piers asked.
“Without bedding?” Alix asked. Piers hummed.
“I might not have thought this out.” He said.
“I can see that.” Alix sighed. “It’s all right. I have a bit of cash left over from my flight. We’ll go to the store and pick up some necessities. Blankets, pillows and such.”
“Nice! To Mall-mart!” Piers punched the air.
“If we pool our money we might have enough for the basics. You have money, right?” Alix asked.
“Sure.” Piers siad with a shrug. “I got a hundred or summin in my account.”
“Oh. A bank account.” Alix huffed miserably. “Do you think they’d let me have one right away?”
“You can just share mine.” Piers said, Alix stared at Piers.
“Do you know how remarkably daft an idea that is?” Alix asked.
“If daft is your slang for cool then an awesomely daft one.” Piers said with confidence.
“Well I won’t argue with that.” Alix said. “All right, let’s go to Mall-mart. You can drive, right?”
“Yeah I can drive.” Piers skipped to the door. “Your license isn’t transferred over yet, right?”
“No, not yet. You have a car?” Alix followed.
“Yup, in the parking lot.” Piers said, pulling out a car key. Alix stopped in the apartment door frame.
“Wait! We don’t have keys! He can’t lock the door!” Alix said. “We have to wait for the landlord,”
“Lock it and I’ll pick up my key from the landlord on our way out.” Piers said, spinning his key on his way to the elevator. Alix watched him in stunned silence.
“YOU HAVEN’T PICKED IT UP YET?!”

for @jonmartinweek THE FINAL DAY prompt- Pining/Longing. This one takes place, well, you’ll see
~*~
A Study of Longing, Told in Six Parts
Part 1
Martin wonders if he’ll ever get to a point in his life where kindness doesn’t feel like a shock to the system. It’s already surprising enough when Tim and Sasha invite him for drinks in a genuine offer of friendship, but for that kindness to come from Jon? Martin has no idea what to do with being believed, let alone being protected.
And now here he is, blearily opening his eyes only to find himself staring at a mass of hair. As he sits up and rubs the sleep from his eyes, the shape resolves into the form of one Jonathan Sims. He had apparently fallen asleep with his head cushioned on his arms, against the cot Martin was currently occupying. It’s not an image that Martin can fully process at the moment, so instead he debates whether or not to wake Jon up or quietly get off the cot to let him get some much needed sleep. He decides on the former, both thinking that it would be hell on his back to keep sleeping in that position, and that he would like an explanation.
Hand hovering above Jon’s shoulder, but not fully touching, Martin oh so quietly calls out, “Jon?”
That’s all it takes for Jon’s head to rush up with a gasp, glasses askew, and with the texture of his sleeves pressed in red marks on his face. It is a horribly endearing look. “Hrn?”
Martin opens his mouths, closes it, and waits for Jon to get his bearings. Jon smooths down his (frankly ridiculous) sweater-vest, adjusts his glasses, and slips back on his professional demeanor. “My apologies, Martin, I, ah, must have fallen asleep.”
Glancing to the crappy little digital clock resting on a file box next to him, Martin rolls his eyes. Only Jon could be quite so stuffy at 4:32 in the morning. “No apologies needed. Though, um, was there? Something you needed or..?”
Jon shakes his head and stands up, dusting off imaginary grime. “No, no, nothing like that. I had just, er. I had heard you cry out and I- I wanted to make sure nothing was going on. It appears that it simply a nightmare,so I will be.. taking my leave. Now.”
He doesn’t know what part of himself replies, “Oh! You don’t have to go!,” but he replies it anyway. Jon does that little thoughtful frown at him, which forces him to continue, “I mean, if you wanted the cot. For sleeping. I’ll probably be awake for the rest of the night, so, you know, no skin off my back .”
“Ah. No, that’s quite alright, Martin. Try to get some more sleep, there’s still a long work day ahead.”
Jon doesn’t even wait for a response before turning on his heel and leaving. Martin sort of hates how much he wanted him to stay.
Part 2
Jon is laughing. Jon is terrified, all the damn time, and yet, somehow, he’s laughing. Honestly, he was starting to wonder if he was still capable of it. Martin is gesticulating wildly with his fork, animated in a way that Jon’s only ever seen when in they’re in the middle of a rather silly debate. He thinks this lunch’s topic was something like whether or not snakes were cute? He lost the thread of conversation about half an hour ago, honestly. Covering his mouth, he lets the giggles run through his whole body, shaking his shoulders and heating his core. He feels light, heady, like he’s reminiscing with an old friend and they’re both on the edge of having had too much to drink.
He only wishes he could trust this feeling. He wishes that he could trust Martin, that they were normal coworkers having a normal lunch, that the previous person in Jon’s position had gone into an easy retirement instead of being violently murdered. He wishes he hadn’t read that letter telling him, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Martin, Martin, who took him to lunch and brought him tea and seemed so very warm in so very cold circumstances, was lying to him.
Jon stops laughing.
Part 3
Of course, the second his body hits the simultaneously stiff and weirdly lumpy motel mattress, his phone goes off. It may only be about 8 pm, but he’s tired, and he’s sore, and he’s had a persistent headcold for the past week for some unholy reason, the last thing he wants to do is talk. However, only about four people have the number to the burner cell, and they’re almost certainly have a purpose behind their call.
Closing his eyes and letting out a sigh that turns into more of a groan, he picks up on the 4th ring. “Hello?”
“Hey, Jon! It’s Martin, I’m not sure if you have my number programmed in that phone, or if it even has caller ID if you do. Anyway, it’s been about a week since I’ve heard anything, and I wanted to make sure you weren’t, y’know, dead or arrested or anything.”
His previously tense and aching muscles all relax, without him consciously deciding to relax them, and a sleepy smile spreads across his face, because some time in the past year he’s become a parody of himself. Yes, maybe he should be more affronted by how much Martin’s tinny voice brings him comfort, but he’s had a rather terrible time of things since...since he began work in the archives, really, and he’s worn down enough that he can admit he misses his friend.
Huh. Friends. They are, aren’t they? Wonder when that happened. (He can guess, something involving a fake CV admission, but he doesn’t feel like it right now.) “Martin, I recognize your voice, no need to introduce yourself.”
“Right! Yes, uh, ‘course..of course you can. Right. Sooo...I take it you’re not dead, then.”
“Correct. I haven’t been arrested, either.” It’s only sort of a comforting lie, so Jon thinks it can be forgiven.
“Good. Great! Yeah, that’s...that’s good.”
The conversation could probably end there. Jon could probably tell Martin good night, and they’d hang up, and Jon could get the sleep he had been so desperately craving not moments ago. Somehow, he thinks that neither of them want that. Scrambling for something to talk about, Jon replies, “Hang on, isn’t it something like 2am over there?”
“It...might be.”
“Martin!”
“What! It’s not like you have a monopoly on bad sleeping habits. Besides, I was up anyway, and I just..”
“Just what?”
“I just missed your voice.”
Oh. Heat rushes to his cheeks, and tears start to prick at the corners of his eyes, and god. He had missed Martin’s voice too. “Really? I know you’ve had to listen to a fair number of tapes lately, thought you might be sick of it by now.”
“No. I mean, I am a bit tired of tapes, honestly, but even the ones that you recorded, that not really your voice, is it? I mean it is, but it doesn’t sound like you when you’re actually, um, you. I wanted..I wanted to hear you.”
Jon’s far too worn out to deal with that sentiment, and the way that it makes his heart clench. So instead of addressing it, he says, “I am very close to being asleep.”
“Oh. Right, sorry, I’ll let you go-”
“No! No. Um. Would you mind staying on the line? Until I’m gone? I-I like hearing your voice. As well.”
“Oh! Sure, yeah, definitely. Anything in particular you want me to talk about?”
“Whatever you like. Something nice?”
“All right. I can do that. Um. Did I tell you about this little yarn shop I found the other day. It’s called ‘Puttin’ on the knitz’, and it’s…”
Jon peacefully drifts off, listening to the voice of the man who he can only admit in moments such as these, he wishes was in this bed, laying beside him.
Part 4
please come back please come back for the love of god come back I can’t believe you’re doing this do you have any idea how stupid this is come back to me come back come back come back
Part 5
There is plenty of things to long for in the apocalypse. A decent cuppa. The relief of actual sleep. Murdering Jonah Magnus. For there not to be a apocalypse. They are grateful, however, to not have to long for each other.
Part 6
Martin comes to without a knife in his hand, or bloodstains on his clothing. Those, under other circumstances, would be good things.
Martin comes to, laying in the grass, without anyone beside him. He barely has the moment to feel agony spike through him before he’s out once more.
There are no Jonathan Sims admitted to the hospital. As far as he can tell, no one was admitted into the hospital at the same time as him, and certainly no one with a stab wound.
There are thousands of ‘Jonathan Sims UK’, typed desperately into a library computer search bar, wielding mostly results about a sport manager and a romance novelist. None of the images are of the right person.
Sometimes Martin puts one foot in front of the other, carefully blank in heart and head. Surviving, even during times that he’s not sure he wants to, is one of his greatest abilities.
Sometimes Martin despairs.
On the worst nights, he tries to call the Lonely back to him, tries to be swallowed whole. It never works. He’s not sure if it’s because the fears aren’t in the reality or if they’re not established enough to have any leverage or if his connection has simply been broken. (He doubts the last reason. He hasn’t been this alone since Tim’s funeral. Even then, Melanie had thrown a few stilted condolences towards him. No one is aware enough of him to give condolences now. He misses Melanie. He misses all of them. He misses Jon like a gaping, bleeding wound misses skin.)
Seven months later, and he has enough money saved and identity built that he moves on to Scotland. The little village they had been adjacent to exists in this reality. Daisy’s cottage does not.
On a whim, he enters the yarn shop. He’s not going to pick anything up, hobbies are the last thing he can focus on, but it’s nice to look. To feel the various textures, to take in the rich variance of colors, to, hopefully be present in his own body, if only for a moment.
Martin steps in. The bell chimes. He’s there. Standing in front of him. Whole. In a cry that’s closer to a gasp, he calls out, “JON!”
Jon turns, looks up at him, recognizes him even before he’s even fully seen him. It’s his Jon, he’s here he’s here he’s here. The callback of “MARTIN!” sounds like it was punched out of him, the start of a sob and a laugh all at once.
In a blink, they’re together, their embrace a tangle of limbs, a collision of lips, a mixture of tears. Martin can’t tell which of them is saying the litany of “thank god thank god thank god” and who’s repeating “it’s you it’s you it’s you.”
It’s Jon that’s telling him, “I knew you had to be here. I knew it, because I kept thinking. Surely. Surely this new universe wouldn’t be so cruel as to allow me to live, but to make me live without you.”
It’s Martin that replies, “I didn’t know. I thought it would be that cruel. Please don’t make me go through that again.”
Jon pulls him in tighter, eliminating the centimeter of space between them. Speaking into Martin’s neck, whispered in fierce devotion, Jon promises, “Never again. Never again. You and me. Together. For the rest of our lives.”
Barely discernible through his sobbing, Martin tells him, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
~*~
There are people that think that wanting is more worthwhile than having. Martin thinks, frankly, that those people have never been in love.
#jonmartinweek2021#jonmartin#jon sims#martin blackwood#AHHH this is just over TWO THOUSAND words#i really was like for the last prompt i will not Shut Up lmao#also fun fact! part 4 was specifically designed to not be clear whether it was from jon or martins perspective

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Electronic Arts Inc. BuzzFeed Multiplayer will be the premiere digital destination, streaming each The Sims Spark’d episode on the Monday after it is televised (July 20, 27 and Aug. 3, 10).
“We are excited to introduce the highly-engaged Gen Z community of BuzzFeed Multiplayer to an inventive new form of storytelling within the imaginative world of The Sims,” said Branden Smith, Executive Producer of BuzzFeed Multiplayer. “Partnering with EA and TBS allows us to offer new experiences for fans and expand our core values by spreading an inclusive approach to gaming across platforms and screens.”
The Sims Spark’d is a four-episode series where players will compete in both skills and elimination challenges with $100,000 on the line, showcasing contestants from The Sims community as they race against the clock to impress a panel of celebrity judges. The show features an amazing cast, with former American Idol finalist, Rayvon Owen, as the host, who has been playing the game since middle school. Joining Rayvon are three judges that each bring their own critical Sims voice to the competition. The first is BuzzFeed Multiplayer YouTube personality, Kelsey Impicciche, famous for her own #100babychallenge series she created with The Sims. Next up is singer-songwriter, Tayla Parx, who has done voice acting work for the game and sang her song, “Me vs. Us” in Simlish (in-game language) for The Sims 4 Get Famous expansion pack. Rounding out the judges’ panel is Maxis™ game developer, Dave Miotke. Maxis is the development studio behind the franchise where Miotke – better known in the community as SimGuruNinja – has worked for 15 years.
The 12 contestants, familiar online personalities who each specialize in their own element of The Sims gameplay, will be fully revealed during the first episode. Additionally, to coincide with the show, a series of in-game challenges in The Sims 4 called the Spark’d Challenge Program* will kickstart on Friday, July 17, where the top creators can win a chance to be considered for a future season of The Sims Spark’d.
ELEAGUE will set the stage for the show with a special episode of ELEAGUE Game Night focused on The Sims 4, premiering Friday, July 10, at midnight ET/PT on TBS. Kelly Nugent and Ify Nwadiwe of ELEAGUE Super Punch powered by Twitch will serve as co-hosts for this one-hour edition of Game Night, which will feature participants from The Sims Spark’d including host Rayvon Owen and contestants Doctor Ashley and Xmiramira. Nugent and Nwadiwe will give fans an early look at top moments from Spark’d with Owen, and will showcase Doctor Ashley’s building prowess and Xmiramira’s character styling skills.

Pride Alphabet continues with P for Pansexual!
Previous Rec Lists: {A for Asexual+Aromantic | B for Bisexual | G for Genderqueer | G for Gay | I for Intersex | L for Lesbian} {POC 1 | POC 2}
Top 4 Picks!
Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy Sassy Summary: Queer King Arthur retelling... IN SPACE! Sword wielding ladies being badass, magic, DRAGONS, ren-faire PLANET, seriously SO EPIC.
Rep: You know how most stories have a token queer character or token POC? This story's main cast has a token white CisHet. Yep- the WHOLE MAIN CAST except one is queer. Lead character is Arabic and pansexual, her love interest is biracial and bisexual, Merlin (yes, THE Merlin) is now 17 and gay, his love interest is queer/demigender and POC, and there's an aroace knight and a non-binary hottie as well. Also, main character has Moms.
Timekeeper by Tara Sim
Sassy Summary: Clockpunk made really queer. Like, the clock has a spirit and he's pansexual and in love with his mechanic, queer.
Rep: As noted, main clock mechanic is gay and his love interest is pansexual. There's a few POC side characters, a sapphic trans side character, and an interracial f/f sidepairing all in the later part of the trilogy.
A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Sassy Summary: A space opera that actually acknowledges that the future should have a more diverse feel to it- with poc and various representations of gender and sexuality.
Rep: Lesbian, trans, pansexual, gay, genderfluid, non-binary - this universe really goes for all the representation and embraces it all as normal.
The Affair of the Mysterious Letter by Alexis Hall
Sassy Summary: Super queer fantasy Sherlock Holmes. There's sorcery, vampires, shark punching, ghosts and all kinds of magic! It is all kinds of quirky and zany.
Rep: Pansexual lady Holmes, Puritan trans Watson.
The Rest of the List:
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan
The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey
The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde

Sanders Sides: Sims 4 Bedrooms... pt 2
... so I grew really unhappy with the first batch. And when I say unhappy I mean I was going to delete the post literally two seconds before @warnadudenexttime reblogged it a month or two ago and I was never going to look back.
But now it’s one of my more popular posts... so we can’t just pretend it doesn’t exist anymore, now can we?
(I’ve officially sat here for 20 minutes trying to figure out if it sounds like I’m placing blame {because I over-think}. That’s not my intention. I appreciate the fact you reblogged it because I now get to... redeem myself?... I guess. Anyways, I’m sorry if the statement above comes across wrong in any way and I hope you’re having a good day!)
Anyways, since they are almost a year old, it’s time for an upgrade. I’m also going to tag @snowcherri because they left a very long comment on the last one and I appreciate it.
Begins under the cut! And here’s the original!
Logan:
My screenshots are blurry I’m going to commit a felony.
So many more books holy fricken heck- but there wasn’t a matching wood tone. We’re going to have to deal with it.
Who needs a double bed when you have books and a chess table?
Nerd posters and solar system thing that’s above the bed!
All the education awards still! And I still kept the butterflies and the stuffed thing on the floor. The butterflies arc to the left cause he’s a left brain trait haha.
Roman:
hello let me juST PUNCH YOU WITH SOME SUNSHINE!
It’s so bright, and warm, and e x t r a.
He has the music and acting awards!
Butterflies are going to the right because he’s a right brain trait. *finger guns*
I feel like his room stayed the most similar to the original I had.
Patton:
Seasons has the best beds and curtains. I will have a debate on this.
Holds everything sentimental. Literally everything.
Stickers and cats every where too!
Butterflies are right brain trait and extra gay!
Corner of pillows for cuddling or re-assuring hugs!
Virgil:
I gave him a baseball bat... for self defense.
He also has a piano because I like the idea.
I was going to have fairy lights because I personally find them calming, but they didn’t look right in the end so I said adios.
Butterflies = little left brain trait lad.
No reason for the single bed other than I preferred it over anything else. Again the beds from seasons are amazing! Why did I ever chose the first version? I think I gave up tbh.
Deceit:
Green still ended up in the final color scheme... somehow?
Look at his big and extra tree. It’s fake and beautiful!
Violins are creepy and suspicious so I gave him one.
He also has makeup so he can apply his scales (and a jar of lemons).
Art is abstract and, just like him, you can’t make it out.
Butterflies going in both directions because... they can. *finger guns*
I just realized I never put clocks in Deceits or Virgils room, but who’s not fixing it? Me. I’m too lazy and taking screenshots is a pain in the ass. (If I put them on the gallery I’ll put clocks, but I think I’ll leave that up to anyone who wants that lmao.)
So... here you go! Hope you like them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#sanders sides#thomas sanders#virgil sanders#logan sanders#patton sanders#roman sanders#deceit sanders#ts4#the sims 4#theyre ok i guess#definitely an upgrade tho

Western Illinois, Year 30 and Year 31, 2036-2038
The Leathernecks played two instant classic NCAA tournament games in our College Hoops 2K8 sim.
Welcome back to our simulated dynasty with the Western Illinois Leathernecks in College Hoops 2K8. You can find a full explanation of this project + spoiler-free links to previous seasons here. Check out the introduction to this series from early April for full context. As a reminder, we simulate every game in this series and only control the recruiting and coaching strategies. Dynasty mode runs for 40 years.
Before we pick up with the Leathernecks at the start of Year 30, here’s a recap of everything that happened last season:
Western Illinois returned three starters from our national championship-winning team in Year 28. We began the new year ranked No. 10 in the preseason polls.
We crushed the non-conference season, went undefeated in Summit League play, and punched our ticket the big dance by winning the conference tournament once again. We entered March Madness at 27-3 overall and were given a No. 7 seed.
We beat Arizona State in the opening round, defeated BYU in the round of 32, took out Seton Hall in the Sweet 16, and beat Xavier in the Elite Eight. Then we lost one of the wildest Final Four games ever in overtime to West Virginia. Read the full recap here.
We recruited for three scholarships and landed three players: shooting guard Scott Doornekamp (No. 111 overall), point guard Randolph Pompey (No. 134 overall), and power forward Ernesto Mack (No. 108 overall).
Here’s a first look at our roster for Year 30:
We lost our top three big men from last season’s team: true junior Elvin King left to become an NBA lottery pick, while C.J. Cesar and Daron Coulter graduated. While we’ll be green up front, we do return all three starters from last year on the perimeter.
Let’s meet the lineup:
PG Sammy Yan, true senior, 90 overall: Yan entered the program as the highest-rated recruit we’ve ever had as the former No. 10 overall prospect in his class. It would be fair to say he’s been a disappointment so far. For his senior year, we have decided to move Yan from his natural shooting guard spot to point guard. It feels like a better fit for his skill set: he’s the best ball handler and passer on the team, and isn’t a very good three-point shooting. We’re hoping he can rewrite his legacy in his final year with the ‘Necks. Bay Area native with C potential.
SG Duncan Martinez, redshirt senior, 96 overall: D-Mart has been our starting point guard each of the last two years, but he’s always been more of a bucket getter than a natural facilitator. That’s why for his final year in school, we’re moving the 6’3 guard to the two. Martinez goes up two points on his overall rating with the switch, and will give a chance to tie or surpass Nic Cummings as the highest rated player in program history (97 overall). Martinez is an elite three-point shooter with a 95 rating. We need him to get hot and stay hot in March. Chicago native with C+ potential, projected lottery pick.
SF Warren Schultz, redshirt senior, 91 overall: Big 6’9, 240 pound small forward with elite three-point shooting and dunking ability. He’s always been a tantalizing talent, but we’ve never seen him fully takeover. This is his last chance. Jacksonville native with C potential.
PF Mitch Hunter, redshirt sophomore, 86 overall: Hunter is one of the lowest rated recruits we’ve ever taken at No. 201 overall, but we had a good feeling about his long-term potential. This year will put that to the test. Hunter is huge for a four (6’9, 265 pounds) with impressive inside scoring and rebounding ability. He isn’t a threat to shoot from the outside. Atlanta native with C+ potential.
C Thom Towe, redshirt sophomore, 86 overall: We’re excited for Towe to finally get a big role as a redshirt sophomore. While he isn’t the biggest center ever at 6’11, 228 pounds, he projects as a quality rebounder and shot blocker who also has the highest potential rating (B+) on the team. Former No. 5 center recruit out of Garden Grove, CA.
We’ll have four players off the bench. Redshirt sophomores Dave French (6’4 shooting guard from New Zealand) and Rashaun Diggs (5’10 point guard from Colorado Springs) will man the backcourt positions, while two redshirt freshmen Vinnie Harmon (7-foot center out of Cincinnati) and Spanky Fanning (6’5 small forward out of Davis, CA) will backup the front court spots.
We’re redshirting our three true freshmen. Those players are:
SG Scott Doornekamp (No. 111 overall): 77 overall with C+ potential
PG Randolph Pompey (No. 134 overall): 76 overall with D potential
PF Ernesto Mack (No. 108 overall): 76 overall with C potential
Recruiting
We also have four scholarships to recruit for this season. We want two wings and two bigs. After scanning the available options, we decide to offer the following players:
6’2 PG Vidal McCurry, No. 8 overall and No. 4 at his position, from Oak Park, IL
6’3 SG Ransom White, No. 17 overall and No. 5 at his position, from Indianapolis
6’10 C Kendric Morales, No. 127 overall and No. 11 at his position, from Lancaster, PA
6’5 SF D.J. Stapleton, No. 81 overall and No. 14 at his position, from Reno, NV
The created player for this year is 7’3 power forward Ralph Sampson, made by reader Sean as the winner of the last bracket contest. I’m going to make an educated guess that he’ll be incredible.
We begin the year ranked No. 15 in the preseason polls. Let’s go!
Regular season
Do we want to start with the good news or the bad news?
Let’s get the bad news out of the way: We lost to Notre Dame, Baylor, Big Country Reeves Jr. and Washington State, Deke Van Jr. and South Florida, and Marquette.
We did get wins over Northwestern, DePaul, Butler, Eastern Washington, Valpo and UIC.
Needless to say, this wasn’t our best non-conference season, especially given the expectations as a preseason top-15 team.
Summit League play
Can we run the table and go 18-0 again in conference play?
Yes we can. That is nice to see after we uncharacteristically dropped a few conference games in recent years. Now we need to win the conference tournament to punch our ticket to the big dance. Will it happen?
Yes it will. We defeat Southern Utah in the title game to reach the NCAA tournament once again. Before we get to March Madness, let’s check out this season’s stats.
Sorry for the potato quality here, screenshot was taken from the stream. Martinez and Schultz ended up both having great senior years: rarely do we have two perimeter players each average better than 15 points per game, but that’s exactly what they did. Thom Towe also had a great sophomore year that will likely put him in position to jump to the NBA after his junior year. Elsewhere, I really like what Kiwi guard Dave French and backup center Vinnie Harmon were able to give us off the bench.
Tournament time, baby. I have zero clue what seed this team is going to get.
How did recruiting go?
We took two shots at five-star All-Americans and, no surprise, neither worked out. Maybe we’ll see Vidal McCurray and Ransom White in an NCAA tournament game somewhere else down the line.
We didn’t land anyone at the early signing deadline, but small forward D.J. Stapleton is ready to commit on the first day of the spring recruiting period. The three other spots remain open, but we’re making progress on Morales, who was also one of our early targets.
On the created player front, Ralph Sampson commits to Florida. I’m already worried about running into him in the tournament in the not too distant future.
2037 NCAA tournament
Western Illinois is a No. 12 seed in the NCAA tournament. Our first round opponent will be No. 5 seed UConn Cal.
Before we get into the opening round, here’s a look at our roster:
I’ll break it all down for you because, potato quality:
Duncan Martinez goes up to a 97 overall, which ties him for the highest rated player in program history with Nic Cummings.
Yan and Schultz are each up to a 93 overall at point guard and power forward respectively. Reminder that: a) Yan never took a redshirt, b) he went down two points when we moved him to the one to accomodate D-Mart. To this point, Yan has not lived up to his billing as the highest rated recruit (No. 10 overall) in ‘Necks history, but as we all know, legends are made in March.
Towe (90 overall), Hunter (89 overall), and Harmon (84 overall) have the size and the talent to carry us in the front court, but lack the experience. Will it come back to bite us?
The bench improved quite a bit. Our redshirt sophomore guards Dave French (88 overall) and Rashaun Diggs (86 overall) will need to give us a reliable scoring punch off the bench if we’re going to go on a long tournament run. We’ll see what Spanky Fanning (up five to an 85 overall) — yes that’s his real name — can do, too.
Western Illinois enters the game rated as a 100 overall. Cal is rated as a 92 overall.
As always: we’re watching a simulated game, I’m not actually controlling the Leathernecks.
Let’s go!

Loss, 88-85! For the first time in 10 years, Western Illinois fails to win at least one game in the NCAA tournament!
I realized we were in for a fight early in the second half. While Cal led by one at halftime behind some hot outside shooting, our ‘Necks have made a habit of running up the score out of halftime. That didn’t happen in this one. Instead, it was Cal who went on a run, opening up an 11-point lead five minutes into the final frame.
We clawed back behind the starters to tie it around 10 minutes to go. From there, it felt like the lead changed at least twice every minute. Buckets were traded, turnovers were forced, every 50/50 ball on an offensive rebound felt like the difference between a win or a loss.
Down two with about 35 seconds left, Martinez drove the lane, drew a foul, and knocked down both foul shots to tie it. Cal inbounded with the shot clock turned off. This is what happened next.
twitch_clip
What a horrible way to go out for our seniors. Martinez (24 points, six assists) was excellent in his final college game. I honestly believe he would have won it for us if we got the last shot. Schultz was also very good — 20 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-16 shooting — but not quite Skip Clemmons-level like I was hoping. Yan was downright good after an up-and-down career: 14 points, nine assists, and five rebounds. He always should have been a point guard.
On the plus side, Thom Towe looks like a future star. He projects to be our go-to guy next season.
I thought last year’s tournament loss in the Final Four was the most exciting game we ever watched together on Twitch. This one might have topped it. Leathernecks basketball is still going strong, even if we can’t win them all. To the offseason!
Offseason
Boston College wins the national championship as a No. 1 seed that was rated as a 100 overall.
DEKE VAN JR. WINS FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR AT SOUTH FLORIDA. He averaged 12.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Yan, Martinez, Schultz all get drafted after graduation. No one leaves early. That means we’re going to have a) no seniors next year, and b) no scholarships to recruit for. First time ever for the latter.
We lose an assistant and replace him coach Yates, who has a B+ rating in teaching and offense, and an A rating in charisma.
I get offered jobs by Cal (!), Virginia, Iowa, USC, and Northwestern, but turn them all down.
Recruiting
Stapleton commits on the first day of the spring signing period. The 6’5 small forward out of Reno, NV is ranked No. 81 overall and No. 14 at his position. A week later, Kendric Morales joins as our second signing of the year. Morales is a 6’10, 227-pound center out of Lancaster, PA rated No. 127 overall and No. 11 at his position. One wing and one big are in the books.
We’ve been going after 6’3 shooting guard Rob Borchardt for most of the season as one of our top backup plans. The Fresno, CA native becomes the third member of our recruiting class.
While Borchardt is ranked No. 137 overall and No. 33 at his position and lacks elite size, his AAU numbers were really solid. He averaged 14.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and two steals per game on the circuit while shooting 38.6 percent from three-point range. We think he can be a sleeper.
We went back and forth on who we should offer with our final scholarship. After considering another wing, we ended up opting for a big. Stevie Strong — yes, his real name — becomes our fourth and final commitment of the class.
At 6’10, 213 pounds, Strong is rated as the No. 179 overall player and No. 15 center in his class. We’ll eventually move one of Strong-Morales to the four. They should be a promising front line for our future.
Now it’s time to make our schedule for next year. This is what we went with:
@ Northwestern, Great Alaskan Shootout, @ South Florida, vs. Illinois State, @ Florida, @ Washington State, vs. Valpo, @ San Francisco, Gossner Foods Holiday Classic (?), vs. Loyola (IL)
Year 31
Let’s keep this moving, shall we? Yan, Martinez, and Schultz have graduated. A new generation of ‘Necks are about to come into focus.
Let’s meet the starters:
PG Rashaun Diggs, redshirt junior, 87 overall: Diggs is the smallest player we’ve ever had here at 5’11, 165 pounds. He’s also projecting as one of the better three-point shooters we’ve ever had, while not being particularly skilled in passing and ball handling. I assumed Diggs would likely be a sixth man for us when he committed, but he’s developed nicely. Long-time fans of the series will also remember we had great success with another tiny point guard in Koko Reeves many years back. Here’s hoping Diggs follows his path. Former No. 121 overall recruit out of Colorado Springs with C- potential.
SG Dave French, redshirt junior, 90 overall: French was a five-star international recruit out of New Zealand, and enters his junior year projected to be our primary option on the perimeter. A natural point guard, French goes up a couple points on his overall rating at the two. He has grown to 6’4, projects as a skilled shooter with a three-point rating in the low 80s, and is also the best passer and ball handler on the team. Projected first round pick with a B potential rating.
SF Spanky Fanning, redshirt sophomore, 86 overall: Fanning is a 6’6 wing whose best attributes are as a rebounder and defender. He is not the type of skilled three-point shooter we typically like on the wing, but he does have impressive dunking ability. Will he be able to hit enough shots for us to go on a deep tournament run? Former No. 92 overall recruit out of Davis, CA with B- potential.
PF Mitch Hunter, redshirt junior: 90 overall: A massive, throwback power forward at 6’9, 270 pounds, Hunter isn’t a threat to shoot from the outside but impresses as a rebounder and paint protector. He has some nice post scoring ability and will also get a few putbacks each game. We felt like he was undervalued as a recruit, and he has been a nice piece for us so far. Excited to see what he can do as a senior. Former No. 201 overall recruit with C+ potential.
C Thom Towe, redshirt junior: 90 overall: Towe should be poised to jump to the NBA if he has a breakout junior year as expected. He impressed last season in his first year as a starter as a solid two-way big who could score inside the paint and also protect the rim. While he’s not the biggest five man ever at 6’11, 230 pounds, Towe just finds a way to get the job done. Projected lottery pick out of Garden Grove, CA with B+ potential.
Redshirt sophomore center Vinnie Harmon (86 overall) will be our sixth man and should play a big role. The rest of the bench will be rounded out by our redshirt freshmen class: 6’6 shooting guard Scott Doornekamp (82 overall, C+ potential), 6’6 point guard Randolph Pompey (79 overall, D potential), and 6’8 power forward Ernesto Mack (79 overall, C potential) will all get minutes.
We are redshirting our four freshmen. Here’s how they’re rated:
D.J. Stapleton, 76 overall, C+ potential: Rated No. 91 overall and No. 14 at his position. Enters school as a 6’5 small forward out of Reno, NV.
C Stevie Strong, 75 overall, C+ potential: Rated No. 179 overall and No. 15 at his position. Enters school as a 6’10 center from Hammond, Indiana.
SG Rob Borchardt, 74 overall, C+ potential: Rated No. 137 overall and No. 33 at his position. Enters school as a 6’3 shooting guard out of Fresno, CA.
C Kendric Morales, 74 overall, C+ potential: Rated No, 127 overall and No. 11 at his position. Enters school as a 6’10 center from Lancaster, PA who will move to power forward.
We have no scholarships to recruit for this year, so we will be putting a bunch of juniors on our target list. We want a big class a year from now when we’ll have four open scholarships.
We do create a recruit for reader Dave as the winner of last year’s bracket contest: 6’3, 350-pound power forward Biggie Smalls out of Brooklyn.
We’re unranked to start the new season.
How did the regular season go?
We crushed the regular season this year. We earned big wins over Northwestern, South Florida (with Deke Van Jr.!), Florida (with Ralph Sampson!), and Illinois State. Our biggest losses were to Arizona and Washington State, with Big Country Reeves Jr.
We went out to sweep Summit League once again and win the conference tournament.
We entered the NCAA tournament with a record of 31-3 on the season.
2038 NCAA tournament
We were given a No. 6 seed in March Madness. Our opponent in round one is No. 11 seed Virginia. We enter the game rated as a 99 overall. UVA is rated an 87 overall.
Here’s an updated look at our roster:
Towe led the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game, and dropped 42 in one game during the conference tournament. It looks like he’ll jump to the NBA after this season as a projected lottery pick. This could also be the final run for Dave French, who has established himself as our top perimeter threat. French is a projected first round pick. I really like how the bench developed this season. The freshman combo of Doornekamp and Randy Pompey should be excellent in the backcourt for a long time, while Mack looks like the consummate glue guy.
I’m a little worried about our play on the wings and a general lack of experience, but this team is good enough for a deep run.
As always: we’re watching a simulated game; I’m not controlling the ‘Necks. Let’s go!
Win, 87-65! We were up by so much we decided to ‘sim to end’ with about eight minutes left in the game.
We only led by eight points at the half, but turned it up from there. I thought pretty much the whole team looked great. Dave French paced the offense throughout the game to finish 18 points. Diggs chipped in 11 points and tied the program record for assists in a tournament game with 13. Hunter gave us a double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) and Towe lived up to his billing as a top NBA prospect with 17 points and six rebounds in the win.
The win sets up a round of 32 matchup with Clemson
Clemson is loaded. Both teams enter rated as a 99 overall. I don’t think this is going to be a ‘sim to end’ game.
Sweet 16 berth on the line. Let’s go!
Win, 84-68! This actually was another sim to end game as we held a 20+ point lead with about four minutes to go.
This was a big-time win against a great team. French was wonderful once again, finishing with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting from deep. He’s turning into a great player before our eyes. Mitch Hunter made it two double-doubles in two NCAA tournament games to end his night with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Towe wasn’t super efficient (7-of-16 shooting) but still had 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three blocks in the win. How about backup center Vinnie Harmon with 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench?
The win sets up a matchup with Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16
Oklahoma State is going to be a serious test. They have a 6’10 small forward, talented guards, and enough bigs to compete with us on the glass.
We enter the game rated as a 99 overall. The Cowboys are a 98 overall.
Let’s go!

Loss, 107-104! Another heartbreaking ending in the NCAA tournament for the ‘Necks. Oh my god, we lose on another buzzer-beater. How???
The last two minutes of regulation were ridiculous. Towe gave us the lead with a Dirk-like fadeaway. After Oklahoma State answered, Dave French gave us the lead again with a beautiful up-and-under layup. Up two with 30 seconds left, French went to the foul line looking to ice the game. He missed the front end of the one-and-one, but Towe recovered, was fouled, and sank both free throws.
Game should be over up four with 30 seconds left, right? Wrong. Oklahoma State hit a quick three. After Mitch Hunter knocked down two free throws, their shooting guard Stys hit a bomb of a three from NBA range to tie the game. Doornekamp had a clean look from three at the buzzer but missed. We went into overtime.
The two teams traded buckets in OT. French tied the game at 104 all with under a minute left with a corner three. Towe took a three (????) on our final offensive possession and bricked it. That gave Oklahoma State the ball at the end of the game. Here’s what happened:
twitch_clip
Unbelievable. Oklahoma State had some ballers on that team. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.
There were some truly great performances from our guys even in defeat. French finished with 28 points and seven steals. Hunter posted a double-double for the third straight tournament game. Towe had 21 points. Harmon and Doornekamp each contributed off the bench.
The ‘Necks will be back. It just stings to know we’ve bowed out of the tournament in painful fashion each of the last three seasons.
Offseason
No. 1 seed South Carolina wins the national championship
Towe leaves early for the NBA draft, where he was projected as a lottery pick. Everyone else is coming back. We’re going to be incredibly deep next season with the redshirts coming off last year’s freshmen class. I want a title run for No. 8.
I get offered by Minnesota, Baylor, Oregon, and Northwestern, but turn them all down. WIU 4 Life.
This is going to be a quick offseason because we didn’t have any scholarships to recruit for. Let’s set the schedule for next season:
@ Florida, @ Indiana, vs. DePaul, vs Valpo, @ Oregon State, vs. South Florida, @ Illinois, vs. Wichita State, vs. Dayton
Year 32
I don’t have a screenshot of the roster at the beginning of the year, but I do have one from where we left off: at the onset of the Sweet 16.
It is a deep and talented team. Could we be on our way to our eighth national title? We’re going to be picking up with the Leathernecks in the Sweet 16 by streaming the remaining games on Twitch on Monday Jan. 25, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Here’s how you can watch.

Infinix S5 Lite Review
The sub-Rs. 10,000 price segment is huge in terms of potential buyers, and many smartphone manufacturers are doing their best to grab a share of it. In the race to dominate this segment, we have seen manufacturers trying every possible thing including smartphones with quad-camera setups, AMOLED displays, and big batteries. Such features were distant dreams even a few months ago. Customers are spoilt for choice, and can be more demanding than ever before. Infinix has thrown one more smartphone into the mix, called the Infinix S5 Lite.
Just like its elder sibling, the Infinix S5, this Lite model sports a hole-punch display. This type of display has been a feature on some flagship devices, and hasn’t even trickled down to a lot of mid-range smartphones yet, so we weren’t expecting to see one on a phone priced at Rs. 7,999 just yet. How good is the display, and has Infinix cut other corners to deliver this feature at such an aggressive price? We put the Infinix S5 Lite to the test to find out.
Infinix S5 Lite design
The Infinix S5 Lite looks a lot like the Infinix S5 (Review), and it will be impossible to distinguish between the two when looking at them from the front. A 6.6-inch display dominates the face of this smartphone, and Infinix claims a 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The company has opted for a 20:9 aspect ratio which isn’t very common at this price point either. The IPS display panel has decent viewing angles but we found it to be low on brightness. The device also lacks an ambient light sensor, just like the Inifinix S5, which could be a big problem. You’ll need to adjust brightness manually all the time. The camera hole is on the top left corner. Also, for what it’s worth, the front camera wasn’t perfectly centred within its hole on our review unit.
We found the Infinix S5 Lite to be slightly taller than usual, and we needed to shuffle it in our hand. The power and volume buttons are on the right, and are reachable when using this phone one-handed. The SIM tray is on the left, and has two Nano-SIM slots as well as a dedicated microSD card slot. The Infinix S5 Lite sports a Micro-USB port at the bottom, which is acceptable for the price but we have seen Xiaomi introduce the USB Type-C port at this price point. Next to the Micro-USB port is the 3.5mm headphone jack and the loudspeaker.
The highlight feature of the Infinix S5 Lite is its hole-punch display
At the back, the S5 Lite sports a triple camera setup which is one big difference compared to the quad-sensor array on the S5. There’s also has a quad-LED flash which seems like overkill. The fingerprint sensor is positioned near the camera module, and we found this placement to be a little too high for our liking. Infinix offers the smartphone in three colour options: Midnight Black, Quetzal Cyan, and Violet. We had the Quetzal Cyan version for this review. The Infinix S5 had a slightly rounded back which made it comfortable to hold, but the S5 Lite has a flat back which is made out of plastic just like the phone’s frame.
Infinix ships the S5 Lite with a protective case and a screen protector along with a 6W charger, which is a bit of a letdown when you consider the 4,000mAh battery that this smartphone packs.
Infinix S5 Lite specifications and software
The Infinix S5 Lite is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. This is now a fairly old SoC and it does show its age. Newer smartphones such as the Realme 5 (Review) sport the more recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which are both good for the price.
This phone supports Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi, 4G with VoLTE, GPS, FM radio, and USB-OTG. While the ambient light sensor is missing on this device, it does have other basic sensors.
The Infinix S5 Lite has a triple camera setup on the rear
The software on this phone is similar to what we have seen on other Infinix devices. It’s called XOS Cheetah 5.5 and is based on Android 9 Pie. There are quite a few customisations to the UI but it is still easy to find your way around it. What we didn’t like was the amount of bloatware that comes preinstalled on this smartphone. Apps such as Palmstore and AHA Games are alternatives to the Google Play store and suggest several apps for you to try. PHX Browser, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp also come preinstalled on the S5 Lite. We did see spammy notifications from some of these apps, which got annoying very quickly.
If you don’t fancy the camera hole, you do get the option to mask it with a black band. You can also swap the traditional three-button navigation layout for gestures. The UI lets you enable a Smart Panel which is a drawer with icons to launch a favourite app or perform an action, such as taking a screenshot.
Just like its elder sibling, the S5 Lite has a feature called “Intelligent voice broadcast” which announces the latest news, the names of callers, and senders of incoming messages out loud. It can also alert you to notifications from apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This does not read out the contents of messages which somewhat satisfied our privacy concerns.
Infinix S5 Lite performance and battery life
As we’ve said before, the MediaTek Helio P22 is now an old SoC and it shows its age when you push it. Regular tasks such as making calls, scrolling through apps, and WhatsApp messaging were handled quite well on the S5 Lite, but we noticed long load times when we launched heavy apps. The phone has 4GB of RAM which helps apps resume quickly from the background. The fingerprint scanner, as well as face recognition, were quick. We found the screen’s brightness to be slightly too low, and the speaker to be tinny.
The Infinix S5 Lite sports a Micro-USB port
We ran our usual set of benchmarks to gauge this smartphone’s performance, and the numbers weren’t bad but weren’t impressive either. The S5 Lite didn’t manage to run AnTuTu 8 but it scored 157 points in Geekbench 5’s single-core test and 821 points in the multi-core test. In GFXBench, the smartphone scored 11fps in Manhattan 3.1 and 25fps in the T-Rex scene.
We played PUBG Mobile on the S5 Lite, and the smartphone defaulted to the Low graphics preset. The game stuttered occasionally which forced us to drop the frame rate further. The phone did not heat up to a noticeable extent when playing games for short durations, but it did get warm to the touch after a while. Playing PUBG Mobile for 18 minutes resulted in a 6 percent battery drop.
The 4,000 mAh battery delivers decent battery life if you don’t stress the phone out. With regular tasks such as calling, messaging with WhatsApp, and using Google Maps for navigation, the smartphone lasted about a day an a half. In our HD video loop test, the S5 Lite went on for 13 hours and 46 minutes. The supplied 6W charger is extremely slow and takes over 4 hours to charge the smartphone completely, which was disappointing. Infinix should have incorporated quick charging and included at least a 10W charger in the box. We would recommend that buyers invest in a faster charger. Competition such as the Redmi 8A (Review) support faster charging.
Infinix S5 Lite cameras
The triple camera setup at the back consists of a 16-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a low-light sensor of unknown resolution. For selfies, this phone has a 16-megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. We found the camera app to be very basic in terms of the shooting modes it offers. There is no night mode, which is surprising considering the fact that there is a dedicated low-light sensor.
The S5 Lite has a 4,000mAh battery and three rear cameras
Focusing was a little slow, and we needed to wait for the phone to lock focus before taking shots. Dynamic range wasn’t great, and as a result dark areas in our sample shots were underexposed. Images weren’t sharp, and details were lacking in objects at a distance. We also noticed a slight yellow colour tone in some of the daylight shots we took.
For close-up shots, the smartphone needed even longer to focus. It also didn’t always set the exposure right. We often had to tap the screen to set the focus and exposure. The resulting shots were still below average in quality, and the S5 Lite didn’t produce good depth-of-field in close-up shots.
There is a Bokeh mode which can be used to take portrait shots. It lets you adjust the level of blur before you take a shot. Photos taken in this mode seemed to have decent separation between the subject and the background, but the S5 Lite tended to overexpose backgrounds.

Low-light shots were disappointing as well. They appeared artificially boosted, and grain was visible on zooming in to shots. Since there is no Night mode, we had to wait for the AI to kick in and detect low-light conditions. It seems as though the smartphone puts its dedicated low-light camera to use when the AI detects low light, since resulting shots were a little brighter and had marginally better detail. Either way, low-light photography isn’t a strong point of this phone, and you’ll probably have to use the flash for better shots.
Selfies taken with the front shooter were good enough for social media. You do have the option to take shots in Bokeh mode, and we saw good edge detection. Infinix has also added an AR Shot mode which lets you place stickers on subjects before taking a shot. These are fun, and we see can people using them often. Video recording resolution tops out at 1080p for both the primary rear camera as well as the selfie camera. There is no electronic stabilisation, which means that output is shaky. Video recording with a light source nearby offered better results than shooting out in the open. Colours appeared too boosted for our liking.

Camera performance definitely needs some improvement, since the competition at the same price level manage better shots in most conditions. Considering that this smartphone has a dedicated low-light sensor, its low-light results should have been better.
Verdict
The Infinix S5 Lite is the most affordable smartphone with a hole-punch display in the market right now. Thanks to this feature, it looks a lot more premium than it actually is. However, using it does not feel as good. The choice of processor is questionable, considering that this segment has moved on to more powerful options. That’s not all – dropping the ambient light sensor from a smartphone priced at around Rs. 8,000 just isn’t acceptable. Having a big battery does help the S5 Lite deliver good battery life, but the lack of fast charging could be a problem for many people.
If you fancy a smartphone with a hole-punch display, you’d be better off waiting for something else, since too many corners have been cut on the Infinix S5 Lite to meet this price. We would recommend that you take a look at the Redmi 8 (Review) or consider recently discounted phones such as the Redmi Note 7S (Review) or Realme 3 Pro (Review) that have stood out in recent sales.

Sims 4 Plants-(and Paint)-to-Riches (pt 6): The New Neighbor
When the painter who’d moved in next door started to build his own little bunker of a dwelling, much as she had - showing that he meant to stay in Newcrest - Kikuko introduced herself.
Marc Boudreaux had a surprisingly deep voice for such a lean and rangy man. He told her that he wanted to make his own fortune with his art, but without having to punch a time clock or work to someone else’s specifications.
That struck her as far more risky than her own path - there always seemed to be a market for fresh produce and flowers after all, but tastes in art varied so much! Marc painted a variety of subjects and styles, though, as he covered canvas after canvas while she tended her plants. From what she could tell, his skill increased rapidly and his art found homes with various collectors. He seemed to be doing well enough to support himself and upgrade his own small home.
While she found Marc more than a little intriguing on a personal level, Kikuko also gave a great deal of thought to the idea of moving to a larger plot of land. With her finances now secure, she wanted to focus on her remaining grafting projects. And she’d also heard rumors that a few plants existed that would require her to travel far, far beyond Willow Creek or Oasis Springs. Collecting those would take time and preparation... and a lot more room than her current lot offered.

When did I create my blog: Summer 2016
What kind of stuff do I post about: Sims 4 cc and gameplay with a few reblogs now and then
Do I have any other blogs: A sketch-/artblog, which is my main tumblr.
Do I get asks regularly: Not really, about one every other week.
Why did I choose my URL: Because I dubed my Sims world Simtopia and intended to post story stubs with many pictures - like postcards. Originally, I wanted to add a first person narrator who wrote about what’s going on in my sims’ world.
Gender: Female.
Pokemon team: Team Free Will
Favorite color(s): the blue of the nightsky just before dawn, the green of grass right after rainfall and I have a love-hate affair with vermillion.
Average hours of sleep: 5 to 6 are ideal for me and I usually get them too.
Favorite character(s): I have so many, I would feel bad to leave any out. Generally, I am rooting for Atoners and Knights in Sour Armor who have a Screw Destiny theme going. Bonus points for Punch Clock Vilains and Loveable Rogues, Jerks with a Heart of Gold, Noble Top Enforcers ... and adorkableness.
Dream job: Con artist (but as it’s illegal and I generally feel sorry for everyone pretty quickly, that’s usually what I end up playing in p&p )
As I have lost track who has done this and who hasn’t, please feel tagged if you’d like to fill out this questionnaire.
