let me explain!

i personally hc lloyd as demiace so im not too far off! and its obviously not like i hate the aroace hc, ive actually had it for a while before i came to mine

anyway, it feels to me that some people have no idea what being aroace is like.

some people think "oh, he's aroace, so obviously he can't be in any relationship!" which is just stupid? like, no, that's not how that works. either that or whenever someone *does* mention aroace lloyd being in a relationship, its qpr! (which isnt bad, but again, it feels quite restricted in this context)

if aroace people feel like they want to be in any sort of relationship, romantic or not, they can. its not like now that ur aroace, ur just gonna be like "oh!! i cant feel love any longer!!" no. and it sucks because ive genuienly seen lloyd interps where thats the case..

obviously everybody builds their characters as they want, im not trying to dictate anything, if your lloyd is in a qpr, cool! if your lloyd doesnt feel like dating (which i know is the majority), also cool! if you understand the things ive mentioned in this post and agree, more to ya!

this post is about the people who for some reason look at lloydships are like like "gasp!! you cant do that!! lloyd is aroace!", completely denying that part of being aroace, that you can indeed if you want, date.

Longshot but do you or anyone else remember a post Abt men helping their wives lace their corsets that included 18/1900 satire prints Abt men being shown cuckolded via their wives corsets being tied differently? Like one was something like "oh, I thought I tied it in a bow this morning" while the Lover slinks away in the bg?

I do remember, yes! I can't find it now, but it was definitely a thing.

Unfortunately I mostly remember people treating it as "proof" for a frankly sily myth that husbands (some people even said fathers, for unmarried women!) tied Their Women's corset-laces in special patterns so they'd be able to tell if said laces had been untied.

Which is ridiculous on two fronts:

you didn't have to untie your corset to have sex back then. just like you don't have to get fully undressed for it today, something people seem to forget quite readily when dunking on the Poor Pre-ModernsTM comes up

women may have been hemmed in by a misogynistic society, but I don't believe for one moment that enough of them would have put up with chastity-detecting corset lacing for it to become widespread

also like. not all husbands and fathers, even back then, would have lived in constant fear of their wives or daughters sleeping around. most dads probably liked thinking about their daughters' hypothetical sex lives about as much as they do today- which is to say, not at all -and many marriages were founded on love and trust

besides which, there's absolutely no evidence for such a practice ever existing. the satirical cartoons don't even depict anything like that: the husband simply helped his wife dress and tied her corset one way, and then noticed that it was tied another in the evening

It's really good though with a whole bunch of lovable characters that the live-action doesn't even begin to be able to get into. you didn't ask, you didn't ask, but me personally, my favorite arc is Alabasta, which is the place they should be going to next season in the live action!! it also introduces one of my favorite little villains: Crocodile!!! idk i love it and i love him LOLLLL which i shouldn't bc he's...he's not a good man but i'm 26 i'm allowed to like toxic anime men, i've earned that right. (also you can like things and criticize them/acknowledge their flaws.) ANYWAYS, ANYWAYS, I'M RAMBLING, but yeah, it's good eating, and i highly suggest you get into the actual series if you liked the live action because the series itself is more in depth. Plus, P L U S, there's more Mihawk, Crocodile, and Buggy content AND THATS A WIN TO ME. lajsldajskdajsdlasjd. it's fun and as an added bonus there's a sense of community and you can always come back here and scream your thoughts to me (and everyone else) if you like it.
