Ginga Shitpost #2: More TLW Slander because I’m basic like that :smirk:
It will never fail to amuse me how Sirius can look at everything that happened in TLW and SOMEHOW think Monsoon is a poor innocent baby who just needs a friend because he had a mom and dad too :C :C :C

What was your first anime? Love your blog!
Thank you! 💙 I wish I could give y’all a normal answer, but I can’t lol my first anime was Ginga Densetsu Weed or Silver Fang Legend Weed in English. It’s about dogs and it’s such a great time :))) not suffering and sadness at all!
It’s actually a sequel to an anime form the 80s (Silver Fang - The Shooting Star Gin) both are really good! I would definitely start with the one from the 80s I think it holds up pretty well, I watched the sequel first lol.
Both series tell almost the whole story, it’s pretty self contained in that way. Be warned Shooting stars manga has been translated completely, while Legend Weed has not I suffer every day because of it lol I own the whole series and have been slowly and painfully translating it myself.
I will say, the 80s Manga to Anime is more closely adapted, while the sequel removes a lot from the manga when it comes to characters, and some of the story. it’s still good but I would watch the anime then read the manga.
But for real it’s a comfort anime, it’s very dark and graphic and child me should not have been watching it. Because I did not handle the dogs deaths well, so much crying. But yeah it’s graphic, animal death, torture, the whole nine yards. It has interesting characters, and it’s story telling emotional. It holds a dear place in my heart! (It does not have the best written female characters unfortunately :/ a product of it’s time in that regard)

okay so i just worked it out and like, from what i can tell during the final battle weed is about 10 months old. if we take that, and times it by seven (giving us the amount of months he would be in 'human years'), then divide that by twelve, weed is literally a six year old in the final battle.

The Haisay Trilogy
Tumblr media
If you like your violent animal protag novels, this is tailored to you. Particularly inspired by Watership Down, Ginga Series, and The Sight and Fel. This story is set in East Beringia (Alaska, Yukon + the Bering land bridge connecting to Siberia/West Beringia) about 11,700 Years Before Present. Will feature an extensive con-lang.
The first installment, Haisay & The Voices of Gods begins ten years after the God’s War, the last mortal struggle where gods directly intervened, which resulted in the death of Hlaao, the fox’s patron god, a feat once thought impossible. The victors, the wolves and bears, have scattered foxes from their home territory of Hraenen, now the bear’s stronghold, who rule over the foxes in diaspora. Lions have been pushed to the southern peninsula of Nlainom and the wolves have re-claimed the glaciers of Dhusav and the forests of Khosatid.

Without a patron god, the foxes are in danger of extinction.

The protagonist is Haisay, a young fox living in Ethlesiy, a territory on the very edge of Khosatid, under the rule of tyrannical bears, and currently experiencing a fox-plague, but the bears refuse to allow the foxes to relocate away from the disease. Haisay was born with zhosliy, strange sight, and can see the past if they are in the physical location where an event happened, and he is also able to freely wander Lekhemseth, the abode of dreams, and see the dreams of others and enter the personal dens of gods, though they are unable to interact there.
Haisay begins hearing a voice that claims to be Hlaao, the dead fox-god, with instructions on how to revive them. Having exhausted all of their options, Athliyliy, the high priestess, leader of this clan of foxes, and adopted mother to Haisay, decides Haisay must seek out the strange wolf he sees in his dreams and follow the voice’s instructions:
seek help from Faeofaanen, the sovereign of the wolves, and the very wolf who troubles Haisay’s dreams, but who first needs help from Haisay in dealing with his son, Iliyziyem.
forge a treaty with the lions and wolves without the wolves’ current ally, the bears, finding out.
conquer the bears in war to access Hraenen and therefore Hlaao’s death place in order to revive the god, deliver the foxes from extinction, and return them back to their homeland.
Haisay is joined on their quest by his sibling, Zev, captain of the guard and a fierce fighter, her trusted second-command, Khorro, who is sarcastic and temperamental, Sabah, a veteran of the God’s War and skilled in healing and poison plants, and the wolf Afaerizel, King Faeofaanen’s charming and daring attempted assassin turned loyalist assassin, who also possesses strange sight, albeit an entirely different and more deadly power than Haisay’s.

Pictured: top to bottom: Haisay, Zev, Khorro, Sabah, Afaerizel, Faeofaanen, and Iliyziyem. The top four are foxes, the bottom three are wolves, the last of whom sport two sets of teeth, a genetic mutation in the royal line caused by inbreeding.
