5 Lines Tag
I was tagged by @illarian-rambling ! Thank you! This is a new one!
These are from Testaments of the Green Sea
A line about clothing:
Narul ran his fingers along the smooth linen which started at his midsection and ended shortly below his knees. It had taken quite some time to assemble the outfit, and in the end after finding no actual garments which could appropriately fit him, the attendants and seamstresses had resorted to wrapping his waist with an ornate table cloth, snatched from some store room and trimmed and shaped to more closely resemble the long pleated skirts favored by Chibalan nobility. A cloak made from snowy white sheepskin, the largest they could find, was draped over his shoulders, held in place by an ornate bronze pin in the shape of a snarling bear. His hair was combed and braided, bedecked with rings of Korithian silver and beads of Shambalan agate and Makoran Amber. As he rolled one of these beads betwixt his fingers, he dully thought about the fact that this tiny chunk of amber was in all likelihood, worth more than any sum of money that he had ever held. The attendants had even tried to shove a signet ring onto one of his fingers, an endeavor which would ultimately prove to be in vain. Failing at this, and the application of other more common jewelry, they took to him with bowls of a strong smelling paste, dying his skin with shades of rich red and earthy brown, covering his arms, hands, and chest with swirling wave-like patterns
An Angry Line:
(Zatur is Zatar's pre-noble name)
“I told you, you’re just a dancer boy.” The spearmaster sneered as he stopped his assault, head held high. “Go clean your wounds, don’t be too disappointed in yourself and that miserable performance, not everyone is suited to the rigors of combat, I’m sure our king would appreciate a new cupbearer.”
This time the chorus of ugly laughter was directed at Zatur. Humiliation warped and curdled into a deep and burning rage. His hands quivered, and red danced before his eyes. Rather than actual words, his challenge came in the form of a guttural bellow. The spearmaster was only just able to avoid the length of wood swung at his head like a club.
“The fight is done! What are you doing?” The old man shouted, sas he stumbled back to avoid the young man’s frenzied attacks. The old spearmaster’s weapon began to splinter and twist from the ferocity of the assault. “Boy stop!” He cried out, eyes wide.
But Zatur’s wrath could not be so easily tempered, with one last arching blow, he brought the wood down with such great force that it broke through his opponents weapon and smashed against the balding head with a sickening crunch. The spearmaster stumbled, and fell forward onto his face, a growing puddle of blood spreading from his head like a crimson halo.
a line that's muttered:
The runaways looked despondently down at the little clearing in the trees. The houses of mudbrick that had once stood there had been long since weathered down to their foundations by the flooding river and pounding winter rains. The smooth stone peaked from amidst the moss and the grass. There were no people to speak of, no merchants or bakers with food to offer, nor weavers to supply a warm blanket, and no plantbrews to tend to Narul’s condition.
“Is this it? This can’t be it.” Suru muttered as he pushed a hand through his hair. His features were even more skeletal than usual, sharpened by hunger. The snails had been a flash of good luck, nothing more.
“We can’t go any further, Suru, or people are going to start collapsing,” Bira said softly.
Suru looked back at the flock of people which gathered behind him. They looked back at him with dirty faces and eyes bloodshot with hunger and fatigue. Suru groaned. “Alright, well, I guess we’re camping here for the night everyone. Find places to sleep and if you can, find anything edible.”
A line with taste:
After a moment of hesitation, he lifted the drink, if it could be called that, to his lips and drank. The taste was not particularly pleasant, like a mixture of horseradish, mint, and iodine, incredibly bitter. The accompanying sensation was even less pleasant, an intense burning, which filled his mouth, throat and nose, and made his eyes water.
“It burns a bit, but trust me, swallow, it will help.” Wadikir said with a bemused smile.
Narul screwed up his face and forced the vicious substance down his throat. He could feel it, burning as it slid down. As it hit his stomach two things happened, he was hit by such a strong wave of nausea that he covered his mouth, in fear that he might vomit all over the table, and all at once the pain of his overstuffed stomach vanished, a moment a later so did the nausea. He shuddered, wiping a sheen of sweat from his brow.
“Better?” Wadikir asked,
Narul nodded, and grimaced.
A loving line:
At that moment he was not looking at the whirling fire spirits. Rather, he gazed at Ninma, watching the multicolored lights twinkling in her eyes, coloring her face, first red, then blue, and then gold, the way her curls cascaded over her shoulders, the gentle smile twisting the corner of her lips.
Ninma noticed and rolled her eyes.
“We walked all the way here and all you can do is look at me, huh? You talked about wanting to see this place so much, and I walked all the way here just so you could gawk at me.”
Jani smiled and pulled her close. “ I’m sorry, I just can’t help it.”
Ninma chuckled softly, and rested her head on his shoulder. And so they sat beneath the stars, basking in the warmth of the frolicking fire spirits and of each other.

Jewelry
Dalamus wears a decent amount of jewelry, much of which he made himself! As a jeweler, this was an easy way to promote his skills and business. As a consort, it was to show him off to others.
Dalamus made every ring, earring, and bracelet, both polishing and shaping the cabochons and shaping the silver. The only things he did not make or pierce himself are the tongue piercing, the hair accessory, and the... "banana" piercings. All of these were present at the time of his exile and all except the hair accessory are still present.
Walkthrough of the stones and enlarged images under the cut!
Not depicted in any amount of detail is his nose ring in his right nostril. Nothing fancy.
He has a tongue piercing which, if one somehow gets close enough to see, is shaped like a spider rounded into a ball.
Each ear has five piercings, although currently asymmetrical. The lowest piercing is a gauge, which connects to two earrings via rings looped through the gauge. One which dangles low is a silver spider with a small ruby cabochon, and the other is connected to a piercing in the shape of a fly.
The next three along the edge of the ear are Moss Agates, red, then orange, then yellow. But the yellow agate earring in his left ear was ripped out by Taliira when Dalamus refused to interrupt his work to accommodate one of her requests.
Moss agate is a form of chalcedony which includes minerals embedded in the stone which form filaments and may resemble moss. Usually white with green filaments, other colors can rarely be found. It is not considered a true agate because it does not contain concentric bands.
After getting the earring ripped out, Dalamus made a Labradorite bar earring for the top edge that same ear.
Labradorite is a calcium-enriched feldspar mineral which displays iridescence.
His hair accessory is silver chains linked into the shape of a spiderweb, with a spider in the center and garnet reverse-teardrop shapes dangling at the bottom. It was held in place with either hair clips or small combs built into the piece. This accessory was given to him by Nedvyllanna and he had been wearing it at the time of his exile. Unfortunately, when he was tossed from the Nautiloid, it was pulled off him by the wind and likely tossed into River Chionthar.
On his left wrist is a bracelet which loops against itself to form a sturdy band. Each end of the bracelet is shaped to resemble a Displacer Beast's barbed tentacle, and has a pointed oval Chrysoberyl cabochon. The green color of the stones and the highlight that goes down the middle earns it the name of "Displacer's Eye".
The "cat's eye" effect, or chatoyancy, is present in multiple materials, such as many gemstones, woods, and others, appearing in each for different reasons. In Chrysoberyl, it is formed by the mineral Rutile aligning perpendicularly to the stone. While "cat's eye" can be seen in other gemstones, "Displacer's Eye" is only so-called when the effect is present in green gemstones.
On his left ring finger is a rectangular silver Shalhoond Sunrise cabochon ring, named so because the material often turns up in the Mountains of Copper, near the Shalhoond forest. The green at the bottom elicits images of a green landscape, such as the forest, the dark boundary in the middle reminds one of mountains on the horizon, while the red at the top resembles the sky at sunrise or sunset.
This stone is made up of red Cuprite and green Chrysocolla, often with a boundary of iron oxide between the two minerals.
On his left index finger is a silver ring in the shape of a Night Bat, the symbol of House Strighym, with its wings and tail wrapped around the finger.
On his right middle finger is a rectangular silver Eudialyte cabochon ring, the pink against black almost resembling roses at a glance.
Eudialyte is a minor ore of zirconium. The white mineral is alkali feldspar, and the black is aegirine. It is not typically used as a gemstone due to its irregular crystals, granular appearance, and general rarity.
On his right ring finger is a silver oval Variscite cabochon ring, specifically a Spider Web Variscite, named for the obvious. Almost golden-looking filaments create a web-like pattern on a deep dark green background.
Variscite is a relatively rare aluminum phosphate mineral. Its green comes from chromium. Sometimes it is used in jewelry in place of turquoise due to its usually more vibrant green color.
And, his pride and joy, on his right thumb, is a silver circular "Beholder's Eye" agate cabochon ring. Eye Agate is what happens when the agate forms a circle in the center of the stone, making the bands appear to form an eye around it. A Beholder's Eye is so-called when the "pupil" is in other shapes, such as this almost figure-8 looking center. Surrounding it to represent the other, smaller eyes around a Beholder are polished beads of green Jade, yellow Jasper, purple Agate, and blue Chrysocolla.
Agate is the banded variety of chalcedony, forming when silica rich fluids deposit minerals into cracks or cavities of a host rock. Over time, they crystallize, creating the bands seen in agates.
Last but not least, the banana piercing. Nothing fancy, pretty self explanatory. Mild explanation below the picture. (If you are not interested, you are not missing anything after this!)
It is a frenum ladder piercing with 3 bars, although his do not start quite so close to the tip as the usual singular frenum piercing is. Supposedly it increases pleasure during sex, or at least that is the hope.

A Comprehensive Guide to Moss Agate Rings: Beauty, Symbolism, and Why You Should Own One
Moss agate, a unique and mesmerizing gemstone, has gained popularity in recent years, particularly for use in engagement rings and fashion jewelry. Distinguished by its intriguing moss-like inclusions that resemble nature's patterns, moss agate rings offer an earthy, one-of-a-kind aesthetic that appeals to those seeking something distinct yet meaningful.
In this article, we’ll explore everything about moss agate rings—from their history and symbolism to the reasons they make perfect jewelry pieces. Finally, we'll guide you on where to find the most stunning moss agate rings, with a special recommendation for purchasing from Amandafinejewelry.
The Beauty of Moss Agate Rings
Moss agate is part of the quartz family and is valued for its translucent to milky white background that features striking green, brown, or black inclusions resembling moss, trees, or ferns. These formations give the stone its organic, natural beauty, making each piece truly unique.
Unlike traditional gemstones such as diamonds or sapphires, moss agate stands out due to its earthy and ethereal appearance. No two moss agate stones are exactly alike, which adds a personalized touch to every ring. The gemstone’s calm and muted tones make it versatile, perfect for complementing both silver and gold settings.
Moss agate rings often appeal to individuals who appreciate nature, value uniqueness, or seek alternative styles that veer away from the more conventional gemstones. Whether worn for special occasions or as an everyday accessory, moss agate rings make a subtle yet powerful statement.
Symbolism of Moss Agate
Throughout history, moss agate has been revered for its strong symbolic and metaphysical properties. The stone is often associated with nature, growth, and new beginnings, which makes it an ideal gemstone for engagement rings, as it symbolizes the flourishing of a relationship.
Here are some of the symbolic meanings associated with moss agate:
Balance and Stability: Moss agate is believed to bring emotional balance and stability. For those going through stressful periods or seeking inner peace, wearing a moss agate ring is said to provide grounding and calm energy.
Prosperity and Abundance: Often referred to as the "stone of abundance," moss agate is thought to attract prosperity and success, particularly in business and personal growth.
Healing and Rejuvenation: Moss agate is also linked to physical healing, especially concerning the immune system and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s believed that the stone’s energies promote overall wellness and healing of the mind, body, and soul.
For those who value the spiritual and symbolic meaning behind their jewelry, moss agate rings are more than just a beautiful accessory—they're a conduit for positive energy and emotional well-being.
Why Choose a Moss Agate Ring?
There are several reasons to choose a moss agate ring, whether you're looking for an engagement ring or a unique piece of fashion jewelry.
Uniqueness: Each moss agate stone has distinct inclusions, making every ring one-of-a-kind. For those who seek a truly unique piece, moss agate delivers unparalleled individuality.
Affordability: Compared to traditional gemstones like diamonds, moss agate is a more affordable option without sacrificing beauty or elegance. You can own a stunning, unique ring without breaking the bank.
Durability: Moss agate is a relatively durable gemstone, ranking between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. While it's not as hard as diamonds, it's strong enough for everyday wear when properly cared for, making it a practical yet beautiful choice.
Versatility: The neutral tones of moss agate complement a wide range of metals, from white gold to yellow gold, rose gold, and silver. This versatility allows moss agate rings to suit various styles and occasions, making them an excellent addition to any jewelry collection.
Alternative Engagement Ring: For those looking for a non-traditional engagement ring, moss agate offers an alternative to diamonds. Its unique appearance and symbolism of growth and new beginnings make it an ideal stone for symbolizing a lifetime commitment.
Connection to Nature: If you're someone who feels a deep connection to nature, a moss agate ring allows you to carry a piece of the earth with you. The organic, forest-like inclusions in the stone create a meaningful link between the wearer and the natural world.
How to Care for Your Moss Agate Ring
While moss agate is relatively durable, proper care is essential to maintain its beauty over time. Here are some simple care tips to ensure your moss agate ring lasts for years:
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep your moss agate ring away from harsh chemicals or cleaning agents, as they can damage the stone or metal setting.
Clean Gently: To clean your ring, use a soft cloth and warm, soapy water. Avoid using abrasive materials or ultrasonic cleaners, which can cause scratching.
Store Safely: When not wearing your moss agate ring, store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment in your jewelry box to prevent scratches or damage from other pieces of jewelry.
