imladris lads :D it started off as a few doodles of gildor bc of a great prompt i received from an anon a few weeks ago, and then spiralled into something else entirely bc i havent really taken the time to explore much of anything imladris-related? i really like the lindir-is-maglor concept so heres my take on how it couldve happened haha

Problems Elrond was expecting in Aman:

Trying to make a new home after leaving Rivendell behind

Dealing with Valinorean elves who are very weird about him being part human and part Maia

Avoiding being crowned again (this one isn't just a Valinor problem)

Trying to stop Bilbo from causing problems

Trying to stop Galadriel from causing problems

People attempting to drag him into the clusterfuck that is Valinorean politics

Having to grow a bunch of his herbs himself because the plants aren't native to Valinor

Problems Elrond was not expecting in Aman:

A sudden abundance of doting parents, grandparents, and other ancestors

(He's gotten very used to being the person who takes care of everyone else)

(Look it's not his fault he's forgotten how to react to parental affection normally)

(It's been a really long time...)

your friendly reminder that "maedhros and maglor took elrond and elros with the intent to ransom them for the silmaril" is fanon, not canon

it's a fun idea to play with sometimes, and i've seen it done well, but the actual published text states "maglor took pity on them and cherished them" not "maglor thought, 'whoopie! finally a potentially bloodless way to get our hands on a silmaril,' and started sending fruitless letters to the king about it"

you can't make accurate judgements about a character's.... well. character, when you are mixing up fanon and canon events in your analysis

Elrond, Elros, and Their Parents

I don't like takes where El² hate M² forever. It completely ignores the "and love grew between them". Maeðros and Maglor kept them safe from Morgoth's horrors when their parents couldn't - and let's not lie to ourselves, Morgoth would have wiped Sirion off the face of the Earth if the Fëanárions hadn't done it first, and he wouldn't have left El² live.

I don't like takes where El² hate Elwing and Eärendil forever. Eärendil left because he knew that, if he didn't, everyone, from the Fëanárions to the Khazad to his children, would die, and I refuse to hear slander against him; I can't see El² hating him for that, especially when they became fathers themselves. Elwing ... I can definitely see them having more mixed feelings about her than Eärendil, especially when they had their children - who in their right mind would destroy their kingdom, risk their children, for a jewel? - but I don't think they'd hate her, either. At the very worst, they'd pity her.

I like takes where they're conflicted. Where they hate one set and cling to the other, then grow older and completely reverse their opinions, then they hate both sets, then they grow to love both. Life is complicated. Emotions more so.

And it would make Father's Day a hilarious affair in Valinor. (Elros is there in spirit.)

My second submission for @fall-for-tolkien's Scribbles and Drabbles event, featuring Annael, Rian, and baby Tuor! I don't often see content with these three, so I thought I'd give them some spotlight! Drawing baby Tuor was lots of fun, he's just so squishy cute! XD

It’s just that Fingon’s like that stereotypical son who calls his mum and walks old ladies across the street, mows the lawn for his neighbours, brings home nice, pretty girls who want to be kindergarten teachers or something and is really passionate about some niche compassionate topic like children in poverty’s access to multiple sclerosis treatment and who everyone says is ‘such a nice boy’ but then he goes and dates the eldest kid of Mr. Stay Away From My Boys, Son, a flaming ginger who most people haven’t heard speak. And this is hilarious.
