Thank you for the ask! These questions were so interesting to think about and answer, I really liked your choices!

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

I've scrolled a little through my published fics to remind myself of what is up there and I'm surprised to find that the tropes I used are a little bit all over the place. I do have one details that I think is pretty characteristic tho: Most of my fics aren't set in a specific moment or timeframe in canon, but mostly in a vague not so far future of canon at the time of writing. And then I'd say two tropes that are very characteristic for my writing, despite my AO3 profile not accurately representing that, are 5+1 things and for romance mutually oblivious pining. You can find these two a lot in my wip folder, half finished, since this is what I default to when writing most of the time when I write casually. I guess the fics on my AO3 are mostly the ones where I was struck by sudden electric inspiration that made me finish them in one go or something close to it, and the more casual stuff is getting slowly written bit by bit in my wip folder.

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

I wouldn't necessarily say proud, but I guess I had a lot of fun with the worldbuilding for my crack fic Carefully Chosen Words. The initial basis was a group effort by spitballing after a typo turned "soulmates" into "soupmates", but I enjoyed doing what I did to the background of alphabet soup communicating with the Buckleys and how it incorporated into and influenced the 9-1-1 worldbuilding.

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

Despite most of my fics playing in some vague future of canon, I don't think I've ever written a real Future Fic with a big time gap. I'd like to set a fic 10, 15 or even 20 years in the future of canon, and come back to it and see how time (and possibly distance) have changed the lives and relationships of the characters, but also what stayed the same. It's not something that works for me for all fandoms tho, so I have yet to write it (I might finally have an inkling of an idea for this, but time only will tell if something comes out of it)

34. What aspects of your writing are inspired by/taken from your real life?

I try to not draw too much from my own life on purpose cause I'm very afraid of doxxing XD but I obviously know that nonetheless my life will still show on paper (special shoutouts go out to that one Wattpad commenter who clocked where I'm from just based on one line of I come home after 🤣). There is one fic where I specifically took something from my own life tho, and that is Lift Me Up, where Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1 get stuck in an elevator together. It's based on my own experience of getting stuck in an elevator. I obviously didn't have a romance with my neighbor or anything, but I used all the elevator stuff, especially the interactions with the call center employee. I think the worst part of the fic might actually be too much elevator stuff 😆 since it was so hard to decide what to include and when and at which point I'm just doing too much elevator-related exposition that isn't needed for the story to work.

“It’s Mirabelle-but I have a question, it’s ok with you.”

They tense ever so slightly. “Well, depends on what it is. So ask and I’ll see if I shall grace you with my divine knowledge.”

“How do you have so much hair?”

They just pause cause how do you answer that, Odile interrupts. “Mirabelle you can’t just ask someone why they have so much hair.”

Bonnie joins in on the light teasing. “Yeah Belle you can’t just ask someone that!”

“Oh! Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t that was a sensitive topic…”

Odile looks up from her book. “We’re just teasing, Asking someone about their hair quantity isn’t some horrible offense.”

“Wait it isn’t?”

“No it isn’t Boniface.”

“Then why do you have so much hair?”

She cackles in response; calming down she responds. “Heh- that’s because I’ve spent years growing my hair out. You could have my amount of hair if you spend the next few years growing yours out and taking good care of it. I’m sure your sister could help with that.”

“Hmmm, nah that’s too much work.”

“True that!” Loop cuts back in.

Fanfic Trope Ask: personality swap or only one bed?

Only one bed, no contest.

It's not that I dislike personality swap🙈, but what I'm usually looking for in fics is either a continuation/resolution of canon or a story with the specific dynamic the characters have, which makes me prefer AUs where they still have their original personalities (up to a certain margin of course, which is also why I wouldn't rule personality swaps out, but it's not something I am likely to actively look for) 😊

Put two fanfic tropes in my ask and I tell which I'd rather read.

Where do you think all that dedication from fanfic writers comes from?

I can mostly just talk for myself based on my own experiences and my own observations, but I think people have many different reasons to dedicate themselves to writing fic:

First of all, there's the part about just loving writing and fanfic giving us an easy and easily accessible outlet for that :)

Then there's the community aspect of essentially passing writing around and talking about it while you're writing or when you posted it, which can be fulfilling in a way that we don't always have the opportunity to explore for original fiction (at least I couldn't)

And then there's of course the more content-based reasons:

We loved something so deeply we wanted to further explore it, be it the worldbuilding, the relationship dynamic between two or more characters, etc.

We took offense to something that happened in canon and wanted to fix it

We saw potential for a story that could exist but doesn't

We thought "wouldn't it be funny/fucked-up/cool/romantic/tragic/... if x happened instead"

I think I've written for all of those reasons and all of these reasons are why I'm coming back to it, even when I'm busy or when I tell myself I want to focus on my original works

On the subject of DLC though, I still think it's very fucking funny (in an irritating kind of way) that Melina is So ancillary to her own plot arc they literally just replaced her with an item for the DLC to do thorn-burning instead.

{prooobably a bad time to post this considering its pretty late over here, and i think its also probably fair to assume that its pretty late on your end to. buuut i gotta do it now or ill forget.

so! as you've seen prior, we've had occasional interactions with "duplicates" of members of the party- yknow, the fact that theres at least three siffrins, and that one king, and another bonnie hanging around. amongst, ah.... other things.

but, issue is, we as a group have kiiind of- intentionally or not- created a specific universe/timeline for ourselves. one with "official" individuals standing in for each character. which is a long way of saying that we can't really have our characters interact directly- as in face-to-face- if they're a character who has a pre-claimed "role".

long story short: we probably won't be able to have "duplicates" in the central story since it would disrupt it and what we have planned. i promise its no hard feelings, it would just get. Really Messy. otherwise.

that being saiiiiid, we still wanna interact with ya'll, regardless of whether your playing your oc, an alternate timeline version of pre-exisiting character, or something else entirely! (King set up the Anon-Bird thing for that exact reason, but it obviously has it's faults.)

i cannot speak for the others at this time- i think it's sort of a mixed bag of indecision and we need to discuss it more. but i, personally, would love to interact face-to-face. i did say i was welcoming you all with open arms, after all! (it's really our bad for not being a little clearer....)

so, with that noted, my personal solution is to create the concept of "out of universe" interaction. this way we can still have our characters hang out, and it won't disrupt the main timeline. generally speaking, isabeau will still be in whatever physical (and mental) state he is during that point in the timeline, but there won't be the weight of it disrupting what's actually going on for him and getting everything wildly off track.

i reiterate that this isn't a hard rule. this won't necessarily carry across blogs, and, while i dont want to promise anything, if we collectively choose to continue on after the main story is finished, i'll probably loosen it up considerably. because i think the concept having multiples of the same character running around a still recovering vaugarde for no discernible reason is hilarious. and i have a fun idea for connecting prior OoU interactions to make them a little more "canon"- ish.

but, y'know, we all still need to discuss this properly.

shit this got long. okay. UM. UH.

TL;DR: we can't currently "canonically" have our characters interact directly if they're "duplicates" of characters in the main timeline. that being said, we still wanna rp with those folks, so i personally will be making the decision to open up "out of universe" interaction with people so we can still interact without creating a disruption. the others might not do the same, though.
