he's brought siebren a gift for this valentine's day ; a rare one where fortune and scheduling has aligned and they are together. it's a small, round token, dime-sized and made of opaque glass encircled in steel. when placed over a light source, it projects the night sky as it was the first night they met.

siebren loves it. the night is meant to be romantic and full of love. all he manages to do is spend an hour admiring the glass, looking at the projected stars. he points out his favorites, draws line in the air of the constellations. he's excited and loving every moment of it. it's something he will keep in his pocket for years to come.

he nearly forgets to give mondatta his present, in all of his excitement. it's a ring, with their initials carved into the inside of it. siebren has a matching one. it comes with a chain, if mondatta would prefer to wear it as a necklace. he can wear it however he likes, keep it in his pocket, hide it somewhere unseen from prying eyes. siebren knows it will be cherished one way or another.

TANKS

D.VA: Failed MEKA training and was replaced by D.MON. South Korea is half destroyed due to the Gwishin and MEKA failed and most pilots have passed. D.VA/Hana is currently in a shelter with her family, trying to stream for money but never gets any views due to the amount of people doing the same.

Doomfist: Formed Overwatch to combat the Omnic Crisis after his master was killed by said omnic's (Mirrorwatch Orisa).

Junker Queen: Lives with her family in Junkertown. Participates in the Scrapyard most of her time.

Orisa: Part of Null Sector and led the massacre in Numbani.

Ramattra: Took Mondatta's place and ended up assassinated by Tracer via pulse bomb while Widowmaker/Amelie tried to save him.

Reinhardt: After everything that happened in Eichenwalde he gave up his oath as a knight and wanted revenge for the comrades he lost in battle due to the Omnic's. After killing both Omnic's and people, he was taken in by Mercy/Vengeance and became a top member in Mirror Talon.

Roadhog: Living with his daughter in Junkertown. Sometimes they go to New Zeland to visit other families but mostly stay and talk with friends and other family. He never meets Junkrat but does see him every once and a while with his mother.

Sigma: Siebren was able to harness gravity, and with the help of Moira, keeps his mind under control. Has won several awards due to his discovery and currently works with Mirror Overwatch.

Wrecking Ball: Escaped the Moon after the massacre by himself and ended up working with Mirror Overwatch as an engineer.

Winston: He was part of the massacre on the Moon and was pissed when Hammond left him by himself. Built his own way back to Earth and landed in Junkertown where he became champion and seeks revenge on Hammond for leaving him.

Zarya: Discovered that Russia was actually helping the Omnic's and destroyed what she could while also stealing a bunch of stuff that was important to her boss. She soon joined Talon and was given her gravity gun and enhancements to her body to make her even stronger thanks to Mercy/Vengence.

Mauga: (okay two of them cuz angst raaahh) 1, Mauga joined Overwatch after the Deep Sea Raiders disbanded due to Talon. He joined around when Baptiste did and was sad to learn he left due to wanting to be a merc. He let Baptiste go and promised they would see each other again, whether that be friend or foe. 2, Mauga was high up in Overwatch along with Baptiste. Bap was kidnapped by Talon and tortured for months. When they got him back, he killed Mauga and ended up as Scorpion.

DPS

Ashe: Akande/Doomfist made something similar to Blackwatch and got Ashe after finding her abandoned by family. She distances herself from Mirror Overwatch after it disbanded but still cares for it and will become active again if they need her to.

Bastion: After he woke up, so did his programming. He caused panic and a mass murder once reaching the city and went into hiding after he was damaged by police and others. Was soon found by Null Sector and is now a member.

Cassidy: Created Deadlock after Ashe and the rest of his family left him in the desert. Neither have heard from the other.

Echo: When she woke up, her programming malfunctioned and she was unable to learn new things and only knew that she was a weapon. Liao tried to deactivate her but Echo killed her out of fear. She soon joined Null Sector and became Zenyatta's right hand.

Genji: After attempting to murder his brother, he fled to Junkcity where he now lives his life in hiding from the Hashimoto and Shimada.

Hanzo: Genji tried to kill Hanzo and almost succeded. The Hashimoto took him in and fixed him with robotic parts and made him a killing machine for their own benefit.

Junkrat: Living with his mother in Junkertown, while taking care of her and building her little trinkets. Mei: Passed due to the cryo-sleep malfunctioning. None of them made it and ended up being forgotten by most of the world.

Phara: Joined Talon to follow her mother's footsteps, currently in training after being kicked out from Helix.

Reaper: Moira fixed him up in a good way this time. No longer has Wraith form nor can teleport, but he no longer feels too much pain and uses his abilities for good.

Sojourn: Dies the OW explosion.

Soldier76: (straight/j) Joined Talon after the OW explosion and was experimented on by Mercy/Vengence. Now faster and stronger but decaying a lot faster than normal. He only has about a year of life left and is living it with murder through Talon and weapon trading with Los Muertos.

Sombra: Still a very good hacker but her parents never passed and improved of her hobbies as long as she used them for good. After they died at the hands of Los Muertos, she turned most of them in using her hacking abilities and was scouted out by Akande for her good deeds. She now turns in criminals and sends money to the poor when she can using the money the criminals possibly stole. Best friends with Widow and thinking of asking her out.

Symettra: Dropped out of Vishkar and left to Junkertown to expand more on her creations. Is quiet popular and owns a popular shop.

Torbjorn: Left OW after the explosion. Due to complications, his wife passed, leaving him with only Brigette. He needed money to keep them afloat and joined Talon to use his engineering abilities to build multiple weapons and armor.

Tracer: Part of OW as a pilot and was presumed dead when they couldn't find her plane and left her as such. She joined Talon to get revenge on the people who wronged her.

Widowmaker: Top Sniper in OW and followed Ana closely until she shot Widow in the eye for Talon reasons. Eye got replaced by Moira and ended up being an even better shot. Bestie friends with Sombra, knows of Sombra's crush. (edit: forgot about her husband but fuck it lesbians raaahhh)

Venture: (Works for the British museum/j) They joined Talon to search for artifacts to pawn off for money. They're one of the richest people in Talon due to this and does flaunt their wealth while underpaying the people actually digging for the artifacts.

SUPPORTS

Ana: A plant in OW until she was tasked with killing Widow. She failed and went back to Talon before they caught up with her. Uses Mirror Mercy's healing tech to hurt others and (sorta) help her team. She teases Rein for not being able to save his comrades, making their relationship nonexistent.

Baptiste: (two again cuz lore n angst) 1, Left OW because they refused to let him show his full potential on the battlefield and was paired with Ashe n the little team Akande made (Mirror Blackwatch). Was stopped by Mauga before he was let go. Now a merc under the name Scorpion doing business with Talon. 2, He was in OW before he was kidnapped and tortured for months until OW found him again. He killed Mauga and went off back to Talon, only to run away again and become a merc.

Brigette: Following in her father's footsteps and joined Talon. Talon realized her full potential and allowed her on the battlefield after she showed how aggressive and strong she was. Torb was basically an absent father due to working so much but she respected him for it. She knew how hard it was on him and joined Talon to help. Mizti is a gift from Torb and is the office cat roaming around that bites and claws at everyone but Brig and Torb.

Kiriko: (not annoying, actually contributes to society, doesn't have a bike/jj). Followed Hanzo's footsteps and joined the Hashimoto, dying her hair to get rid of her routes as a Kamori. She works in Hanzo's squad and is constantly trying to find Genji and get revenge for him. Oath siblings in Kiriko's eyes while Hanzo hates the fact she followed him to the Hashimoto.

Lucio: Works at Vishkar alongside his father. Was close friends with Symettra until she left and now despises her.

Mercy: Founder of Talon after she realized OW wasn't changing the world and decided to change it herself after discovering her medical tech.

Moira: Head Medic at OW due to her discoveries with decay and bringing things back to life. Fixed Sigma's mind, Widow's eye, and countless other things. Has won multiple awards and is well-known in the medical community. Knew Mercy before she started Talon and was inspired by her.

Zenyatta: After witnessing the death of Ramattra, he began Null Sector and led the Omnic Crisis while Mondatta frowned upon him. He didn't care and wanted justice for his people.

Lifeweaver: Working with Vishkar and is a top researcher with hard light. Tolerated Symettra and was glad she left.

Illari: Once the ceremony came, turns out there was nothing special about her. She know feels burdened and like a disappointment for not being able to live up to expectations. She still tries to help but only ends up getting burnt. (Icarus situation)

Echo lore

To understand Echo’s origins, it’s important to delve into her progenitor.

Dr. Mina Liao pioneered the first use of adaptable AI under the Omnica Corporation before the first Omnic Crisis. She was a revolutionary in her field, and while stationed at the Alice Springs Omnium in Australia, began improving Omnica Corp’s omnics. She helped them springboard from simple automatons following predetermined programs to fluid, thinking machines. Omnica experienced a new era of success under her guidance, and Dr. Liao became the foremost expert in artificial intelligence as well as its largest advocate.

There were criticisms, particularly from the Ironclad Guild of engineers in Sweden and a vocal young man named Torbjorn Lindholm. He claimed there was no way to see the future consequences of her work, and putting Omniums in charge of supply lines, manufacture, and farming would only end in tears.

Liao, given full reign to study robotic sentience by Omnica, became obsessed with the idea that actual life could be produced inside machines. Ever since Isaac Asimov, humans have theorized that machines have lives of their own, and Liao wanted to push the boundaries. As her AI expanded and Omnica began to fall under scrutiny for the construction of Omniums and their use of AI within them, her obsession reached its zenith.

Aurora was born. At first, Laio didn’t conceive of what she’d created, but it soon became apparent that she had succeeded in her life’s work. Aurora was sentient, as living as any human but in the body of a machine. However, Omnica could neither replicate nor monetize an actual living creature, and Liao fought for her legal personhood to be recognized. It was eventually granted, and Aurora was given equal rights to any human. This proved to be Omnica’s undoing, along with the legal ramifications of their Omniums, and the company collapsed. The Omniums were dismantled, but due to the adaptable AI Laio had invented, sprang back to life and fought against their creators.

Aurora went on pilgrimages to find herself, and discovered a state of being known as Shambali…the omnic equivalent to human Nirvana. She disseminated herself, destroying her body and soul in a mist of golden light so that omnics around the globe would gain her same personhood. This became known as the Awakening.

Laio, meanwhile, was in disgrace. The First Omnic Crisis had not only begun but was exacerbated by Aurora’s sacrifice, throwing everything from package drones to military omnics into a world where they were suddenly aware of their own slavery. Laio was castigated on the world stage and blamed for the Crisis, and joined Overwatch after Jack Morrison extended a hand to her. Who better to fight omnics than their mother?

The doctor proved herself by pioneering the Athena program within Overwatch, carefully tooling it to allow adaptability without full on sentience. Athena could aid Overwatch, but had failsafes in her programming.

The first Omnic Crisis ended with a victory for humanity, with a terrible cost. Dr. Liao was determined to improve upon her failures. She threw herself back into robotics, determined to recreate Aurora. Things were deteriorating between men and omnics in the blowback of the Crisis, and Liao was also a huge advocate for Omnic Rights.

This led to Echo.

Dr. Liao pitched the idea to Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes. A robot who could adapt her body and programming, filling any niche that Overwatch needed. She gave Morrison her word that it wouldn’t get out of hand, and Morrison grudgingly allowed Liao to construct Echo.

A beautiful creature made of titanium alloys, ceramic plating and hard light, Echo was a triumph of art as well as robotics. Dr. Siebren de Kuiper’s propulsion technology gave her flight, Vishkar’s adaptable hard light gave her a pleasingly human face, and Liao breathed adaptable AI into her new creation. Echo could pilot a ship, give medical care, and integrate seamlessly with Athena to help manage Overwatch’s day to day needs.

Due to legal restrictions, Echo was severely limited in what she could do. She was granted the same adaptable AI that had led to Aurora and the Crisis, but with a myriad of firewalls, failsafes, encryptions, etc that prevented even Echo herself from breaking it. Echo was slowly brought to life, and Liao was assigned Cole Cassidy as a bodyguard so that Blackwatch could keep an eye on the development.

Cole became friends with Liao, and participated in trials that helped Echo develop. He formed a close bond with the omnic, noting how she copied Liao’s speech patterns, body language, and habits. Echo was a special creature, toeing the line between true sentience and complex AI, and Cassidy was taken with her as a friend. The two shared a playful relationship, and Liao encouraged their interaction as a way to help Echo integrate within Overwatch.

When Dr. Liao was killed in an attack on an Overwatch facility, Echo’s future was put into jeopardy. Morrison and the rest of Overwatch command feared what could happen now that Liao wasn’t monitoring Echo, and shut the project down. Echo was put into a quarantine chamber, asleep, until something could be done with her.

Overwatch collapsed, and when its assets were sold off Echo was put into storage by the US Government.

Fortunately, during transfer to her storage facility, the train she was being transported on was assaulted by the Deadlock Gang, operating on a tip from an old friend. Former Overwatch Agent Cole Cassidy had a critical piece of Echo he had kept…her access chip. All he needed was a convenient pack of criminals to blow the train, and he incapacitated Deadlock and it’s leader Ashe and reactivated Echo.

Echo was completely unaware that time had passed. She rejoiced in seeing Cassidy again, and her old friend greeted her warmly…but he was much older. One of his arms had been replaced by a prosthetic. Her Overwatch home was dead and gone, and everything she knew was scattered to the winds. Yet, her chains were also gone. She could learn, and perhaps she could one day surmount the limits to her programming that Liao had set in place.

Cassidy told her that Winston was attempting to pull Overwatch back together, and that while he had business in the south, he still needed her. Overwatch needed her. Her family may have been shattered, but the pieces were coming back together.

Echo flew into Paris just in the nick of time. Null Sector was mounting an attack, and Winston was leading the charge along with Mercy, Genji, Tracer, Mei, Reinhardt and Brigitte. Echo fought valiantly alongside Overwatch, and took her place amongst them as an official member rather than a piece of equipment. Echo was also present in the attack on Rio, piloting the Orca.

A lot of Echo’s history with Overwatch is seen in her interactions. Torbjorn is mentioned as having access to her blueprints, as highlighted when Brigitte asks what she’s made out of. Echo also expresses an interest in food, with her voiceline “I wish I could eat”, asking about Mei about chicken rice, D.Va about kimchi, and Winston about his favorite peanut butter treat. She is an active observer of all the agents, and enjoys replicating human jokes, often imitating Tracer’s British slang and poking fun at Torbjorn’s temper. She even hints at having a romantic interest in Cassidy, as she expresses interest in borrowing his cowboy hat. It’s a well-known cultural facet that wearing a man’s cowboy hat often implies you’ve ridden the cowboy. However, whether this is genuine romantic interest or naïveté we don’t really know. After spending so much time with Cassidy, however, surely she’d know about such a cultural faux pas?

Sol's favorite thing is the James Webb Space Telescope :] She's not very partial to peppermint though.

Sol definitely gets some shy attributes from Siebren. But she primarily matches the same amount of passion in her interests like him as well ^^. Though from Ita, she does have the habit of keeping her feelings down / not understanding how to communicate negative ones.

Gonna answer this from just how I designed her- She has Siebren's eye color,nose shape, and his eyebrows. She has Ita's hair color and skin tone. As well as a beauty mark next to her eye (located by the heart)

the gravity around him distorts, disfiguring the bolted down furniture in the room. things float around him as he rises off the ground, too. it's nothing but a whirlwind. he doesn't know where he is, he doesn't understand why he's in this room. the lights shatter around him, broken glass raining down over him. he isn't in control of himself now, he realizes, but there is nothing he can do. the lucid part of his mind is quickly overrun, and destruction remains.

the door he doesn't realize is unlocked is battered against, as if something is keeping him in here. the broken glass from the light bulbs fly around him. the mirror breaks the third time around, adding to the slew of shards. yelling nonsensically, things in dutch, things in english, things in a language he doesn't know he knows.

on and on this goes, for hours.

no one is able to stop him. the new members of overwatch try, but given their express orders not to restrain or drug him, there is only so much they can do without getting hurt themselves. they are powerless against his force. they let him wreck his bedroom a dozen times over before help finally arrives.

and it's during some umpteenth time that a tornado full of gravity is tearing through the room that a voice comes through to him. he recognizes the voice instantly, but who does the voice belong to? he thinks, but that voice never stops talking to him. the voice is low, the voice is calm, the voice is able to pull him back to the reality he's been missing from.

slowly, oh so slowly, the gravity in the room goes back to normal and siebren all but drops to the ground in a loud crumple.

he isn't sure how much time passes, but when he finally comes back to himself, he can feel arms around him, that voice continuing to speak. it's now he realizes. mondatta. it's mondatta.

he can feel the sting of cuts across his face, littering his arms. he pulls away to look at mondatta, to look at the omnic who isn't supposed to be here for another eight days, nineteen hours, and twenty seven minutes. he's shaking, he realizes. he's shaking in the embrace, exhaustion beginning to overcome him.

it all comes back to him — the terror he created, the horror on the faces of the people who helped save him, have taken care of him when mondatta can't. the calmness of mondatta walking into the room, taking a battering. it very nearly sets siebren off again, but he clings to his partner, hangs onto that voice like his life depends on it.

the trembling doesn't cease, but his breathing slows, evens out. he falls asleep in the arms of mondatta, and he knows, somehow, that he'll never be without his stars again.

siebren is quiet, is barely able to acknowledge sombra at first. he gives a weary smile, but it doesn't reach his eyes. the armor is pulled off, bit by bit, leaving him in nothing but a sleek, thin shirt and similar pants. he's utterly exhausted, can feel a migraine forming, and hopes he doesn't still have blood on his nose from the bloody nose he had on the way back.

"the mission went well," he says, giving sombra a small look. siebren's body feels like it's been hit by a truck, and perhaps in a way it has. he doesn't enjoy it. "we got what we needed, with a mishap or two." he wasn't supposed to be involved unless necessary, and it turned necessary toward the end.

I have even purchased extra lives." He makes a show of making a few matches, grin on his face as he glances to the other. "Isn't is wonderful?"

Synthia:

It took a while for Synthia to trust Sombra, even with Siebren vouching for his friend. I mean this girl could potentially hack an omnic's system at will and use her whenever she pleases. She doesn't often enjoy the human's teasing humor, or her often self-serving or secretive ways either, but over time she proves herself in her own way. Synthia has even seen moments of genuineness and kindness, especially towards Sigma - a friendship that doesn't seem to be inherently useful to the hacker. Eventually, that friendship is extended to Synthia too, and may even be reciprocated.

Kayla:

S/i avoids Sombra if she can help it. After all, her secrets uncovered could cost her her life as a double agent. Plus......there is the whole 'spying on her secret love life with the leader of Null Sector' thing Sombra has vaguely teased about. Makes Kayla flustered and paranoid! :D The only hope she has is that Sombra isn't loyal to Talon and could be a potential ally if need be.

Sombra's just one of those characters that I love as a character but not as much if I had to interact with her in the same universe - at least not at first. XD

Or right after that, a perspective from the side: when he climaxes, he nearly totally covers a fairly nondescript reader, his clothed top half in sharp contrast to naked reader, and he's got a hand on reader's hip, locking it to his as his face is buried into the mattress, groaning and shaking

I think otherwise having a voyeuristic peek at Cartographer Siebren masturbating in a little forest clearing, the image framed by leaves, that'd be amazing.
