One of my most fav takes ever in the Apolaki and Mayari myth is that after Apolaki blinded one of Mayari's eyes, he realized what he's done in his rage and becomes so ashamed and guilty that he begs Mayari for forgiveness. Mayari forgives him, and from then on Apolaki makes sure to make it up for his sister by being extra protective of her. Mayari is irritated by her brother's coddling but Apolaki really is sorry about the whole eye thing and he makes sure to treat his sister with as much love and care as he could <33 Mayari has mixed feelings about it since it's both annoying and sweet of him.

Apolaki: Mai mai! Kumusta ang akong paboritong kapatid? <33 *gives her a big hug causing him to lift her off the ground*

Mayari: STOP. ITO AY NAKAKAHIYA!!!!! Put ME DOWN.

Today on CR Things I Am Unreasonably Affected By: that note that Caleb left for Beau for the tower date in 126. And the simplicity of it. And the love in it! I get so happy thinking about it.

It is one thing, I think, to have the tower loaned out and tricked out to the nines. Having the tower cats turned into ninja dogs and great feats of magic tuned to you. Knowing your friends are willingly (if grouchily) outside in the cold because they want their two beloved party members to have a good date, one good night of peace before everything might get worse and worse and worse. That's all well and wonderful and meaningful and big ole 🥺🥰 hours

But something about that note, just. Ahw man. The note felt like... the letter equivalent of a steady hand on a shoulder, like the kind of smile Caleb gave Beau as he watched her researching happily in a library.

I saw that gif comp of Caleb and Beau in episode 48, miscommunicating and frustrated and AUGH, two well intentioned people saying everything the wrong way. And then cut to Caleb some 80 episodes later, up late preparing all the spells, plotting everything out, landing on the perfect ending and lovingly putting pen to paper to say:

"Dear Beauregard. Please forgive my deviating from your explicit instructions. But as a fan of rule breaking, I think you will likely permit the transgression." I am being a LITTLE contrary, as is my right, but I promise, it'll be good. I have crafted this with you in mind, and with all my affection for both of you and my very, very high intelligence, all geared towards this. Trust me on this, yes?

"Besides, what better gift could I offer the Lionett?" You deserve it. Yasha deserves it.

"Please enjoy your massage, and soak." The world is partway through ending or veering VERY close to it, we are kind of up shit creek with Mighty Nein style paddles (none), we have been exhausted and terrified and running for days now. Shen Jiu enjoys a facial spa session with Shen Yuan instead. Shen Yuan loves sheet masks and knows plenty of DIY recipes that still work without modern machinery.

Shen Jiu ensures that Luo Binghe's gift to Shen Yuan goes "missing" right before Shen Yuan's birthday feast.

Luo Binghe "gifts" Shen Qingqiu a plant with sex pollen while Shen Yuan is out traveling (and wasn't scheduled to return to the palace for a week). Unfortunately Luo Binghe was not able to catch Shen Qingqiu cheating on Shen Yuan as planned. :/

Shen Qingqiu retaliates by having Luo Binghe's clothes washed in hot water which shrinks the clothes too much for Luo Binghe to wear them.

Both know better than to reach lethal/maiming level of sabotage since then Shen Yuan would be forced to interfere. So they resort to petty tactics like itching powder and name calling.

That way Shen Yuan can just hide in his office doing paperwork and pretending that the petty drama isn't happening.

Luo Binghe got scolded when he snuck in heavenly demon blood into Shen Qingqiu's meal. Shen Yuan also banned the demon from the imperial palaces for a month - the most torturous month in Luo Binghe's life.

As for Shen Qingqiu, he got a very disappointed look from Shen Yuan for encouraging Luo Binghe's escalating violent tactics to attract Shen Yuan's attention. Shen Qingqiu suffered greatly from Shen Yuan's month of avoidance.

Both Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe made a silent pact not to drive Shen Yuan that far again... although Shen Qingqiu still doesn't stop trying to lord his empress status over Binghe's demon emperor aka a foreign guest/official dignitary status.

Binghe is starting to run out of plausible political excuses to keep visiting Shen Yuan's empire now that the two have hammered out a bunch of trade treaties and military alliances.

Jim flinched at the noise but he shook it off. He turned in a full 360, seeing the one person who wasn't too preoccupied at the moment. "Douxie!" He shouted, ramming his sword into a passing hostile. "Krel needs some help!"

Douxie looked up at the tower their friend was currently in, then at an approaching enemy on one of those weird anti-gravity bikes. "Sure thing!"

He backed up a little, seemingly calculating. Oh for the love of Christ he was going to jump.

"Uh... are you sure about that?" Jim asked worriedly, glancing at the enemy alien Douxie seemed so dead set on catching a lift with.

"Yeah, sure. It'll be fun." Douxie shrugged but even he looked unsure. "Just uh... give me a boost."

Jim nodded, shield appearing at his will. "Ready?"

"Ugh, not really." Douxie admitted before taking a running start.

He jumped, feet landing on Jim's shield, the Trollhunter pushing up with all his strength as soon as he felt the new weight, the wizard being launched upwards.

Jim watched as Douxie quickly grabbed hold of the vehicle the alien was riding and pulled himself up onto it, making short work of the creature before taking control of the foreign vehicle and steering it up towards where Krel was waiting.

"How long have you two been waiting to use that move?" Toby asked over the com-link.

"A while." Jim answered with a laugh, running full speed at his next adversary.

they’re both like two intimidating parts of the master that they serve

and honesty, there’s a tiny bit of you that feels honored to be able to fight against them, since their duties are just to protect, not train any one

but on the other hand, Madam Yu was right there and you were really really scared

“show me your skills,” Madam Yu tells you, voice playful but with an edge that you don’t expect

you cast a glance back to her, sitting in the awning of many wooden ports and manage a small nod

and that sets off the fight 

you are not as skilled as Madam Yu’s bodyguards, that is for sure

but you put up a pretty good fight, 

one that gets a raise of the eyebrow from Madam Yu, watching

that gets a half smile from Jiang Wanyin and a high fist pump from Wei Wuxian, spectating from a hidden part of the awning

and even though you fall to the ground heavily a few times, 

the small cheers and whoops from your fellow disciples help you to gain your footing and put your all into the fight 

and it’s a good spar, a good practice for you, one that lets you know exactly what you need to work on but also what you are good at

and somehow,

when you miraculously end with a draw between Jinzhu and Yinzhu, 

it’s Wei Wuxian that whoops and whistles the loudest of everyone watching
