Summary:

“I’m going to get my scars removed,” Draco announces on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. “Who are you seeing?” Blaise asks. “The best Healer out there,” Draco replies with a little shrug. “Harry Potter.”

Excerpt:

He opens the door and finds Harry there, standing in the dark corridor like a shadow. Draco gasps in surprise, but Harry places a warm hand on his cheek, then takes a step closer and just exhales. His other hand rests on Draco’s waist, and for a moment they just breathe together in silence.

It feels so lovely to touch. To be close and have Harry’s hands on him.

Draco wills his heart to stop beating like a mad beast.

Harry is here. He was waiting for Draco to open the door. Harry is here.

Draco lets his eyes drift shut and inhales the scent of him, that perfect combination of Harry’s soap and the comforting smell of his skin. He feels Harry’s warmth against his pyjamas when Harry moves even closer and their bodies almost touch.

“I’ve been thinking,” Harry starts, his voice low and hesitant but like a balm to Draco’s ears. “I’ve been reading all those letters and reliving their sorrow, and all I could think about was you…”

“Me?” Draco asks softly, his eyes drifting open and locking with Harry’s. He feels hope blooming in his chest, despite all the years he’s spent pushing it down, reminding himself that Harry would never want him like this, that all Draco could ever hope for was friendship.

“I’ve been thinking about you,” Harry repeats, his thumb brushing against the soft skin of Draco’s cheek, his eyes moving lower and lingering on Draco’s mouth for a long moment. “I realised that I don’t want to waste any more time. I don’t want to lose you, Draco—I’m terrified of that, but at the same time, I think about the little time Sirius and Remus had together. About the way Remus felt at the end…I don’t want to regret not saying or doing the things that matter.”

Draco lets his hands rest on Harry’s waist, pulling him closer until their foreheads are resting against each other and he can feel Harry’s warm breath on his cheek.

He wonders if he’s dreaming. If he’s misunderstanding everything Harry is saying.

“Harry…” he whispers, his voice barely audible.

“Can I kiss you?” Harry asks.

A little moan tumbles out of Draco’s mouth, because he must be dreaming.

Harry just asked if he could kiss him.

Draco nods, unable to speak, and Harry moves, slowly, as if afraid to spook him or trying to give Draco a chance to pull back. Draco’s eyes close again and he tilts his chin up, feeling Harry so close, craving for him to make the first move because he’s too scared of Harry changing his mind.

It’s a mere brush of lips at first, the most delicate pressure against Draco’s mouth, a puff of air that caresses his skin. Harry moves back, mumbles a soft god under his breath, but Draco keeps his eyes closed and is rewarded with Harry’s lips back on his. It’s sweet and soft and a million times better than any kiss Draco has ever had or could dream of.

Harry is so tender with him, his hand still cupping Draco’s cheek, then threading through Draco’s hair and making him tilt his head to deepen the kiss. Draco opens his mouth and feels it, the tentative warmth of Harry’s tongue, his mouth eager and hungry. And then it’s heat and needy sounds that Draco didn’t even think he could make. He lets Harry make a mess of him, pushing him against the wall and kissing him breathless, until Draco is hard and needy for more.

Harry kisses him with a desperation that Draco thinks only belongs in his own heart.

Draco lets his hands sneak under Harry’s t-shirt because he needs to feel naked skin and firm muscles, bones and flesh that can ground him and let him believe this is real.

“Harry…” he murmurs when he feels the other man’s lips on his neck, leaving wet and hungry kisses all along his scars and sucking on a sensitive spot under Draco’s ear that makes him shudder in pleasure.

“God, I could kiss you all night,” Harry murmurs against his skin, his mouth hot and demanding. “All day and all night. Draco…I want you so badly…”

Draco moans, the most debauched and embarrassing sound he’s probably ever made, but Harry seems to love it, groaning as he pulls Draco even closer and moves them towards the bed, his lips still on him, always on him.

They kiss and kiss, until the night is dark and Draco’s mouth feels puffy and a little sore. Harry’s hands carefully slide under his pyjama top to touch Draco’s skin and trace his scars with a tenderness that threatens to shatter Draco’s heart into a million pieces. He lets Harry touch him, feeling like he might explode from how hard he is, but Harry just kisses him, then presses their foreheads together, his green eyes shut, and breathes deeply.

Draco doesn’t know what people normally do at this stage. He’s never experienced anything like this.

You’ve Got Owl Post by @slyth-princess [50k]

After discovering muggle romantic comedies during winter break, Pansy Parkinson and Luna Lovegood decide to launch an ambitious project called You’ve Got Owl Post which matches up students through an enchanted notebook so they can send letters to each other without knowing who is at the other end. It is an instant hit. Harry, without his friends knowing, is one of the first to join. And he rapidly finds a kindred soul on the other side of the pages. In real life, however, he is once again plagued by Draco Malfoy. After fighting in class, McGonagall has had enough. So, as punishment and a lesson, she assigns them the running of that years dueling club. Everyone, including Harry and Draco, assumes it will be a disaster. However, sometimes the people you think you know the best are the ones who can surprise you the most. A story of letters, bets, friendship, love, forgiveness, and discovering who you really are.

He wants to wrap Draco in his arms.

He doesn’t think he has any right to do it after leaving him like that.

He feels a wave of guilt washing over him, thinking about the fact that he touched Draco when he’s not supposed to. Draco is meant to have a new chance at a life with Astoria, for Merlin’s sake. 

His white-blond hair is loose and soft, and Draco has that rumpled look he used to have when they woke up next to each other in the morning. Harry reaches for his hair and smooths it out, tucking a loose strand behind Draco’s ear and then remembering the elastic band Draco had left with him and giving it back, albeit with reluctance. 

“I’m sorry,” Harry confesses, looking at Draco’s lips, then up into his eyes again. “I haven’t…I haven’t been with anyone since you—there hasn’t been anyone else for me, and I—I’ve missed you like mad…I know you need to go. I don’t want Scorpius to get upset…” 

Draco observes him for a long moment before he cups Harry’s cheeks and leans in, closing his eyes. The first press of lips startles Harry, because he’s not expecting it. He finally remembers to breathe and then closes his eyes and just melts into it. Draco kisses him with abandon, something soft and languid, unlike their first kiss, that was all fire and passion. Harry reaches for him blindly, and Draco lets him thread his fingers through his hair once again and kiss him some more, slow and sensual, until Harry is shuddering with it, and Draco’s eyes have that special spark in them when they eventually part, panting and with wet lips. Harry reaches for his mouth again, sliding his tongue inside his mouth this time, and Draco lets out a soft noise, a little whimper, something precious and rare, and all the blood rises to Harry’s face, because Draco just made a noise, because of him. 

“Fuck…” Harry blurts out when they eventually part, his breath short and heart beating frantically in his chest as he rests his forehead against Draco’s and just breathes in with his eyes closed for a few seconds that stretch into minutes. “I know you need to go.”

When they part, Draco exhales shakily, then extracts a piece of paper from the pad hanging from his neck and scribbles something on it. He folds it in half and places it in Harry’s hand before he Disapparates with a loud crack.

Harry groans, banging his head against the door and feeling his lips tingle.

He can’t believe they kissed. He can still feel the ghost of Draco’s lips on his own, the warmth of his breath. 

He carefully unfolds the piece of paper and smiles.

I’m still mad at you for leaving. 

But thank you.

drarry fic recs for someone who’s never read drarry before ?

okay i know this is a month late, but here are my drarry recs for new readers

away childish things by lettered is one of the best. auror harry is de-aged by a potion accident and draco has to take care of him while trying to solve the case. it's a great place to start.

who we are in the shadows by quicksilvermaid is another auror (adjacent) harry fic that i really enjoy. it's a case fic, so high action and high stakes.

harry potter and the welcome to the world of grey by sobsicles is the absolute best morally grey harry potter fic. i've read so many with that tag, and this one is leagues above the rest. it takes place right after sirius dies.

i'm a veela draco fan, i've read probably every fic with that tag. so i recommend soup-pocalyspe and the great curry cataclysm by squadofcats and feather by shushu_yaoi_lj

finally, i recommend in the hand by aideomai which utilizes one of my favorite tropes, a multi universe story. it's short and sweet, but so entertaining and amazing.

there are a lot more that i really love, i think i've read like 200 drarry fics at this point and have liked and loved to so many of them.
