My dog is fit af! 3 hours of walking and running around a day, and he's on a raw diet. His body composition is great, muscular and low body fat at 6 years of age. In human years that's like 42, same as me 😄. Here i catch him and my wife after their 2 hour walk as i come home from buying his food. Diet, Exercise, Sleep, and Consistency. If you masters these 4 things, you'll be alright. Easier said then done of course. My boy will be alright. Just a ear and eye infection and some allergies. Nothing some meds won't fix. Health is number one. It's usually when we lose it that we realize how important it really is. By that time it's usually too late. For men i recommend 15% bodyfat or less. Not only will you feel good but you'll look good as well. Assuming you have some muscle to go along with that. At 42 i run at 10% bodyfat almost year round. Never do i go over 12%. It's really not as hard as it sounds. But it's a process. And unless you get there in a sustainable way, you won't be able to maintain it. Drilling getting up after being taken down against the wall/cage. As fun as this is, it doesn't count as exercise. Recreational activities/sports and exercise should be separated. Exercise is aimed at getting you strong and improving your cardio. How many exercise sessions you need per week is highly dependent on your experience level and your ability to recover. Which is in a constant flux depending on everything else that's going on in your life. Teaching you how to find that balance is what a good coach is for. When i'm short on time or when i'm feeling lazy. What i do is just stick to one exercise. A incomplete or not ideal workout is still 100 times better then zero workout. You'll usually end up doing a bit more once you're there if it's a laziness issue, but you'll just stick to one if it's a time issue. I don't believe in not having time when it comes to taking care of your health, i believe it to be a priority issue and a balancing issue. Once it becomes a priority, then the balancing act begins. Balancing getting in and staying in shape all while running a business and taking care of the family can seem like an impossible task. Unless you have a system and structure in place and some good old accountability. A lot of accountability. High level balancing act requires coaching . Nobody ever got to the NBA or NFL alone without a coach or by watching videos on Youtube. Besides life wasn't meant to be played alone. I've never believed in meditation. My thought on it was "Why? I just sleep, wake up and i'm good". Sleeping is my forte. Hahaha. Then I started messing with it. I was working on my morning routine as instructed by some of my coaches Which included not touching my phone for the first hour, reading and exercising. I read that Koby Bryant meditated for 10-20 minutes every morning. Hmmm..... And i also read meditation can help slow down aging and possibly reverses it to a certain extend. Hmmm...... It's been 2 months now, every single morning without fail. I've realized it can be use as a performance and productivity tool. By increasing clarity, focus, cognitive functions, and reducing cortisol levels. I don't do it because of any spiritual reasons at all. I do it because i perform better afterward during my day. The spiritual part might come later for me. We shall see. Fitness and Health goes beyond just Exercise and Diet to me at this point. There is a wellness component to it as well. Haven't posted a shirtless pic in awhile. 🤣😁 I don't post this to impress you, but rather to express to you what's possible at 41 year old, all natural. This was taken about 3 months ago. I'm actually a bit bigger now and just as lean. My secret? Hard ass work. And proper exercise and nutrition protocol. Noticed i didn't say exercise and nutrition first. Buy a dog! A Big ass dog. Thats gonna force you to walk and run it. Big dogs needs exercise, if not they'll eat you're couch and wreak all kinds of havoc. And you can't just walk the thing for like 5 minutes. We talking about 1-2 hours a day 2 times a day for like 8-12 years. I watched this video the other day. It was about a morbidly obese model being interviewed about why she is promoting morbid obesity in a Miley Cyrus music video. They went back and forth about loving yourself, being comfortable in your skin, fat shaming, being unhealthy and sending out the wrong message, etc. Bottom line imo? Fat is Fat. Unhealthy is unhealthy. This has nothing to do with loving and accepting yourself. On the contrary if you love yourself then you take care of your body. Accepting yourself? I prefer taking a good look in the mirror and being honest about your shortcomimgs then accepting where you're at, so you can move forward. If you're a man over 15% bodyfat, your fat. At 42 i'm starting to really understand the importance of improving and maintaining your mobility and flexibility. When it simply gets too painful not to do it, and when doing it makes you feel awesome and helps you keep up with guys in their 20s, then it's not even a chore anymore but practically a secret weapon for longevity and performance. We invest in all sorts of things, our 401k, our business, our homes, our kids, but then we forget to invest time and energy into our health. It don't matter until our bodies start to breakdown, and then it's a uphill battle that most men lose unfortunately. Success is great, but not at the expense of your mental and physical health and well being. All that material possessions don't mean squat if you're 6 feet under. Gyms are closed again where i'm at. Luckily i have a small gym in my building. But even if i didn't i would still find a way to get my exercises in. A warrior finds a way. And doesn't indulge in self pity and blame circumstances. Somebody commented once, 'Not all of us are lucky enough have a gym or a pool in their building'. I didn't answer.
