At 42 i'm starting to really understand the importance of improving and maintaining your mobility and flexibility. When it simply gets too painful not to do it, and when doing it makes you feel awesome and helps you keep up with guys in their 20s, then it's not even a chore anymore but practically a secret weapon for longevity and performance. We invest in all sorts of things, our 401k, our business, our homes, our kids, but then we forget to invest time and energy into our health. It don't matter until our bodies start to breakdown, and then it's a uphill battle that most men lose unfortunately. Success is great, but not at the expense of your mental and physical health and well being. All that material possessions don't mean squat if you're 6 feet under. It's not about the six pack and huge muscles, it's about being strong, vibrant, and energized so you can keep doing what matters to you. Gyms are closed again where i'm at. Luckily i have a small gym in my building. But even if i didn't i would still find a way to get my exercises in. A warrior finds a way. And doesn't indulge in self pity and blame circumstances. Somebody commented once, 'Not all of us are lucky enough have a gym or a pool in their building'. I didn't answer. Because i ain't no keyboard warrior. 😜 I believe we make our own luck, through our thoughts, our attitudes, our words and our actions. Whatever your current circumstances, it's all on you. Glutes are probably amongst the most neglected mucles group for men. As an older athlete with knee injuries i now pay a lot more attention to them. Glutes help to stabilize the knees, and since glutes have never been my strong suit, i'm going to do the impossible. Turn my skinny asian ass into a big chunk of muscle. 😁🤣 It'll take a year or two, but it'll be worth it. And i'll look better in jeans too. Yes i said a year or two, there are no shortcuts. Things take time. But time will pass anyway. Planks are boring? 100% but super important Whether you just want to spice it up or just make it more challenging. Try this. Alternate lifting up each leg and alternate shifting you hips side to side. Do these in between sets to give your core some extra love. A ultra strong core will help you tremendously in any physical endeavor and will help wih lower back issues. If you're feeling strong today, try this full body circuit. 5 exercises, run it 4 times, 15-12-10-8 rep scheme. Increase the weight for each set. 2 min rest intervals. Keeping it Short and Sweet. Try This Full Body Circuit. 3 exercises done one after the other. 5 Sets, 2 minutes interval. Done! I have lower back issues so supporting my head on the bench allows me to do the bent over row without risking further injury. Use a towel to cushion your forehead. Training at a high level when you're in your 40s requires some adjustments here and there. You can train just as hard but you have to train a whole lot smarter. Full Body Circuit. 4 Exercises. And Done. You don't need to complicate it more then this for just one session. It doesn't have to be packed with a ton of exercises. You can add, subtract or replace on the next session. Rome wasn't build in a day. Consistent effort over time. That's really what makes a differences.
