I've been working on a short fic from Hap's POV in which he meets Bee for the first time. Here's nine sentences:

 The next afternoon, I stumbled upon a seasonal market and used the few coins I had saved up to buy a wood-carved rattle with seeds inside. It was the smallest rattle I could find and the artisan assured me that it was the proper size for a newborn. The rattle was painted a deep blue with a rather charming pattern of bright golden stars.

By day I walked along the winding river and experimented with different melodies that would eventually become the lullaby for my baby sister. It was a task I agonized over. The song had to be perfect for her. I sought inspiration in the river water trickling down to the shoreline and in the way the leaves rustled together in a gentle wind. The birds were generous in the morning songs they offered and the crickets held their own chorus in the evenings. The world is never silent and so I thanked Eda for all she gave so freely.

Me and my siblings used to play “Velma in danger” by the swingset, in which I would be Velma, would walk past the swings where my sisters would violently crash into me on a double seater swing. I would go flying, pretend to lose my glasses, and proceed to wander into the swing’s path several times while looking for them. This usually involved me getting very bruised and my sisters giggling for a solid half hour. 👓

Welp, I’ve managed to not update the fic I left hanging, but instead write an entirely different one based on a song I hadn’t heard in a while.

My brain is crazy stressed, so I apologize if it’s wonky!

As someone who overheats too easily, i have discovered that you can keep some snacks in the freezer that don’t break your teeth when you try to eat them, but help cool a person off. My favorites include:

Poptarts

Grapes (washed and picked)

Strawberries (good in water bottles too)

Pudding cups

It really helps on days when i want to eat something cold or chew on ice, to munch in frozen grapes instead. It’s a lot healthier than keeping ice cream in the work freezer too.
