Destiel. Is. Not. Canon.

When there are literally 15 seasons and 325/327 episodes that have down right not even acknowledged the depths of their relationship aside from "I'm the one who reached down and pulled you from perdition" shit.

Dean and Castiel are toxic to one another. Dean thinks the entire world revolves around him and Castiel thinks he keeps making the right decisions when he fucks up literally everything he touches. Also he seems to forget he's an angel half the fucking time and gets thrown across the room by a goddamn werewolf like he's a cum rag.

Sure, Castiel may have been crushing on Dean hard (but also that's because Misha Collins has no boundaries and continually sexualizes Jensen Ackles in panels and touches him inappropriately) but it was not reciprocated.

Yeah, maybe they acknowledged it in the musical episode, and how did Dean react? With disgust.

The SPN writers also failed the entire fandom.... BY LISTENING TO THE FANDOM.

Sometimes, fan service will absolutely destroy a series. Actually, most of the time. Castiel was supposed to die at the end of season 5 but because the fans loved him so much, they kept him in. The show was supposed to END on season 5, which would have been a perfect ending... I mean, how can you top Lucifer versus Michael and the apocalypse?

Borax and leviathans, that's how. -DIES-

They then continued to bring back every character who had ever died and made us feel something in their deaths... which in turn, cheapened everything. For fan service.

They made Chuck the big bad guy, even though it literally makes no sense and the Chuck in season 5 that vouched for the boys' "Free Will" was not the same Chuck that was so wholeheartedly against it he destroyed worlds. Fan service.

Then, at the very end of Castiel's appearances, he confesses to Dean he loves him. Dean says nothing. Destiel fans everywhere just DIE.

And there is literally nothing in the world to back it up.

For fan service.

Destiel is not canon. I don't care. You won't change my mind and Misha Collins continually sexualizing his coworker is just weird and would get someone sent to HR in every other environment, but the whole fandom supports him cause "GAAAAY" like, no. There are plenty of gay ships that are consensual and NOT TOXIC and they're much more sexy. Destiel was dredged in fan service, battered in digging at the bottom of the barrel, and fried in Misha Collins' wet dream.

Jensen is a dick too and don't even get me started on how he treated Jared.

TLDR; Misha is a creep. Jensen is a dickhead. Destiel is NOT canon.

Supernatural ran itself into the ground and is the perfect example of how a fandom can ruin a series.

okay wait ive never watched supernatural but is destiel canon?

Five Ways SentiAdrien is a Retcon

Adrien’s a sentimonster now, but he wasn’t always. Here’s a list of things that wouldn’t have happened if Adrien was a sentimonster:

Chat Blanc

Epehemeral shows us what happens in a world where Gabriel Agreste learns his sentison’s identity. Chat Blanc shows us what happens in a world where Gabriel Agreste learns his human son’s identity. If Adrien was a sentimonster in season 3, then Chat Blanc would have ended with Gabriel winning just like he did in Ephemeral. But it doesn’t because season 3 Adrien was a real boy.

Gorizilla

Nooroo: Master, you don't really think Adrien could be Cat Noir?

Gabriel: I don't know. But he's hiding something for sure. Since his bodyguard has failed to keep an eye on Adrien, there's only one way for us to uncover his secret.

Yeah, put on one of the slave collars and say, “Adrien, tell me what you’re hiding from me?” Problem solved! Except Adrien wasn’t a sentimonster yet, so Gabe had to use an akuma instead.

Felix

As of season 4, Felix and Amilie know that the Agrete’s wedding rings are amoks, so why were they so obsessed with getting their hands on them back in season 3? What were they planning to do with Adrien? Why did Amilie think that was a reasonable request? There’s no way that she’d hand over her son’s ring! Easy answer: the twins cousins weren’t sentimonster yet and the rings weren’t that special. That’s why that plot goes nowhere and why Felix’s actions don’t match his actions after they decided that the boys were sentimonsters.

Origins

Adrien keeps sneaking out of the house to go to school and Gabe just yells at him, never using the slave collars. Plausible, I guess, but still hard to buy given how controlling he is. Why wouldn’t he use one of the rings? He already doesn’t care what Adrien wants and Gabe does not get meaningfully more controlling as the show goes on (it’s part of why season 5 completely fails to make him feel worse in my book).

Miracular

Cataclysms drive Sentimonsters insane, but kill humans, so Chat Noir probably should have gone insane here. Along similar lines, the fact that akuma powers work on him like a normal human is super weird because Adrien isn’t a true human. Can he break his bones? Does he even need to transform to fight? Do all sentimonsters have the ability to use miraculous? I have questions that this show will never answer because the answers don’t exist. That would require competent, well-thought-out lore.

cressida's storyline was genuinely shameful tbhhh it's like they started rewriting it in the first half of the season then completely forgot about the changes they'd made to make it fit the book plot and it just ends up making everyone else look bad😐 every character in the second half got a "penelope did nothing wrong" lobotomy so we ended up with eloise completely ignoring cressida being sold off to an horrible man (when she made every effort to support her in the first half of the season) and for some reason resenting her for pretending to be lady whistledown? Then they somehow frame her ignoring colin's offensively bad pleas as it being her turning away from redemption when all she's trying to do is escape being trapped in the country with her likely abusive aunt... and it ends with her meeting her horrible fate and it still being framed as tragic only to immediately juxtapose it with the bridgerton family winning the idgaf war while gleefully seeing off francesca and her future dead husband. The bridgertons were the villains of the season frfr

shows which were cancelled before their time and I will never stop being angry about: the get down, bbc class, timeless, sense8, 1899

shows which I think had a decent run or did tell their story well but really wish at more people knew about because they are criminally underrated: bad sisters (only meant to be one season), station eleven (ditto and soooo good), good behavior (only two seasons but where it went in those two seasons…)

shows with decent early seasons which ought to have been put down seasons before they ended from sheer mercy: supernatural, élite, la casa de papel, misfits

#If I think of any other I’ll add #One thing I wish people would realise is that television is a long form narrative but that doesn’t mean it’s not a narrative #There’s no ideal time for a show to run apart from the one that’s good for it’s story #I think timeless could have run for seasons and been great because it’s essentially got an internal self generating plot machine #(Although I think 5-6 is the max for any good show for the most part)#But elite as a high school drama should have ended with the original cast #As is the nature of many a high school drama. See the issue with misfits too #1899 is so rage inducing because it really was such a modest production like 3 seasons is fine!#And Netflix went nooooo #I guess misfits isn’t technically a high school show but it has the exact same issue with original cast and replacement cast

i love the penumbra podcast and i love second citadel and i really enjoyed listening to the finale but i feel. weird about the way this show treats its female characters???

#as in... in a show that prides itself on defying gender boundaries and heteronormativity it still seems to frequently push its female and #genderfluid characters to the side? and ik it can't really be called bury your gays in a podcast where most of the characters are queer #(and i also do think it is important for a narrative to give character the endings that make sense rather than prioritising keeping alive #those who weren't meant to live past the end of the story so i'm not necessarily saying that it's sexist #or that caroline and quanyii should have lived for the mere fact of them being second citadel's only lesbian characters)#but it still does feel off somehow? i don't feel that it's easy to say that they were used as a vessel through which to keep the other #characters alive but i just ?????? i don't know if this is something that anyone else feels? i love tragedy in fiction but it just feels #as if this doesnt mean anything...i can see in part how their character arcs were complete but they deserved to have their happy ending and #rather than feeling the devastation of tragedy after having listened to this episode i only feel mild frustration that they weren't able to #live to see the world that they helped save? i think i will have to think of it as a once and future king thing where when olala rises so #too will caroline #i have had complicated feelings about this whole podcast for the last season or so but i can't tell if it is genuinely the podcast or if it #is just the fact that i dont need it as much as i used to and that my love for it hasnt lessened that instead my heart has just grown #bigger around it #so maybe im completely off base with this and that its just an extension of my weird feelings about almost all of season 5 in general but #hmm #also i did not care for caroline that much through the best part of this podcast so its not as though i am annoyed about her dying because #i loved her so much because honestly i didn't love her as much as i wanted to (or as much as i loved olala and quanyii and rilla)#and also!!! it was nice that they were able to be together and have closure!!!! i think it was well done in a general sense i just ???#i can't articulate it any clearer than this #second citadel #tpp #tpp spoilers #the penumbra podcast #the penumbra podcast spoilers
